IMAX Space Movie

This morning we decided to take the boys to an IMAX movie. Hubble 3D is playing at the Bob Bullock IMAX right now. We enjoyed it, but I think the boys got a little bored in some parts.

After the movie we walked down to campus and along the drag. We stopped for lunch at a pizza shop off the drag.

When we got back to the car Evan said he needed to go potty, so Morry had to run him back into the Bob Bullock to use the restroom.

When we got home we put Noah down for a nap and he slept well.

For dinner we all had leftovers. Morry and I ate our dinners from last night and the boys had spaghetti.

We just gave Evan and Noah baths and put them to bed.

Cousins

Morry’s cousins Jamie, Nate, and Olivia are in town this weekend. We met them and Matt and Rachael at the Oasis for lunch. It was a nice day and we had a great view of the lake. The kids were well pretty well behaved.

After lunch we decided to go to City Park, a park on the lake. As we turned on the street to get to the park a sign said the park was at capacity and they weren’t letting anyone else in. We decided to drive down there anyway and just see if they might let us in. It was very crowded at the entrance and were not allowed to drive into the park. Since it was getting close to nap time we all decided just to go home and meet up later.

While Noah was napping at home, I took Evan out with me to do some shopping. Old Navy was having a sale on t-shirts so Evan wanted to come with me to pick out more superhero shirts. Also, Evan has been wanting GeoTrax and a light saber toy for a while. We made a deal with him and said he could pick out one of those if he agreed to give up his pacifier. He was very excited by the idea and couldn’t wait to get to Target. We spent a long time in the toy section at Target, but Evan finally decided it was GeoTrax that he wanted.

For dinner Jamie, Nate. Olivia, Matt, and Rachael came over to our house. We ordered dinner from Blue Bamboo and made pasta for the kids. It was a fun evening. The kids enjoyed running around and playing together.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed. Evan told us he didn’t want his GeoTrax anymore, he wanted his pacifier back instead. He had a little bit of a hard time with the fact he wasn’t going to get his pacifier back. He said he was angry with both of us. A few minutes after putting Evan to bed he came out and said he needed something for his mouth. It seems quiet now, so hopefully he’s asleep or almost asleep.

Swim Lessons

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Around 6:30, Evan came into our room. I didn't, however, get up to get him breakfast until 7 or 7:15. He watched TV in the gameroom. Sometime after 8, Noah woke up and was calling for us. We just sent Evan in there. He and Noah went downstairs and played for awhile downstairs. We could hear Noah talking so much and so loudly we were ok with it.

Today was the first day of swim lessons at Lifetime Fitness for the boys. Noah was first, at 11:55. I took Evan to the outside pool while Rachel was with Noah at the swim lesson. There was one other kid in his class. Apparently he wouldn't do anything that the instructor was telling him. At the beginning he just cried and held on to Rachel. Even after he stopped crying he continued to hold onto Rachel.

Meanwhile, they were having a "pool party" for Memorial Day weekend out at the pool. They had a blow up water slide, games, face painting, etc... Evan just wanted to go down the blow up water slide over and over. He loved it. At 12:30, I took him in for his lesson. He was the only kid in his class so it was a private lesson. He always looks so serious when he does this type of thing but when he finished he just talked about how much fun he had and how he learned how to swim. He told me he "walked like an astronaut". I'm wondering if that's what they told him it was when he was treading water. He seemed to do very well.

After the gym, we came home and made lunch. Following lunch we put Noah down for a nap.

At the end of Noah's nap, we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do tonight. Rachel had heard there was a restaurant out of Austin a bit that had a big open field for the kids to play on while you ate. We also heard that it gets crowded quickly. So we got everything together and drove out there. We got there at 6pm and it's a good thing we did because it filled up fast. We sat on the patio and the boys ran around kicking soccer balls, throwing footballs, throwing Frisbees. Noah just did whatever Evan did. He was Evan's shadow. It was very cute. The restaurant is called Verde's Mexican Parilla.

We stopped on the way home at Yogurt Planet. The boys really enjoyed that.

They are in bed now although Evan is being very loud upstairs.

Until next time...

Star Peppers

This morning we went to playgroup. I enjoyed having some adult time. Evan and Noah had fun playing with new toys. Noah ate a ton of the goldfish crackers they had put out.

When we got home Evan and Noah played outside while I got lunch ready. They insisted on eating at the picnic table under their playscape. Noah didn’t eat very much, but Evan ate well. I also make smoothies for all of us.

At naptime Noah wasn’t sleeping for some reason. I was getting some stuff done downstairs and all of the sudden I heard Evan and Noah playing in the gameroom. I had to put Noah back to bed. He fought it a little, but eventually ended up napping.

When Morry got home we ordered dinner from Hula Hut through Eat Out In. While we were waiting for the food to be delivered we took the boys out front. Evan rode his bike twice around the block and rode his scooter a little too. Noah rode his tricycle just a little bit. He doesn’t like to put his feet on the pedals and it makes it very hard to push him.

Dinner was good. We made sports mac and cheese for the boys and I cut up a bell pepper for them. I thought I’d try using a cookie cutter on the bell pepper and worked. So the boys had star peppers.

We gave the boys baths and just put them to bed.

Hair Consultation

I dropped of Noah at Alena’s and then Evan at school.

After that I met my hair dresser for a consultation. Now that my hair is growing out I’m trying to figure out what to do with it and how to style it. I wasn’t sure if I was quite at the point to get a haircut yet. She offered some suggestions and said maybe in a month – 6 weeks I could come in for a haircut and she could shape it up a little.

The rest of the day I spend doing stuff around the house. I cleaned up, vacuumed, mopped, and started the laundry.

I picked up Evan first from school and then we went to Alena’s house to get Noah. We stayed for a few minutes so that Evan could play a little. Of course Noah got all whiny when it was time to go.

Noah took a short nap today.

For dinner we had burritos from the freezer and Morry made rice to go with them.

We were going to go outside after dinner but it started raining. It was thundering for a little while and our power went out for a split second.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed. Morry is still upstairs getting Evan settled in bed.

Whining

Right now Evan is next to me whining. He and Noah have been really whiny lately. Right now he’s whining about wanting his underwear back. There were all these dirty clothes on the floor and I was cleaning up and put them in the hamper. He was upset that I took away the underwear he was wearing today even though he was getting a clean pair tonight with his pajamas.

Anyway, today I took the boys to the gym. I was so ready to drop them off and get some time away. This morning was very difficult too.

I did a yoga class at the gym and then swam a few laps.

The whining started again as soon as I picked up the boys from the childcare. Noah was whining because he wanted to keep the borrowed socks on. They give the kids socks to borrow to play on the climbing equipment if they wore sandals that day. I brought the stroller in with me to the gym because the last time I had such a hard time carrying Noah and all my stuff back to the car. I’m glad I had the stroller with me. It made things easier.

When we got home we had lunch and then I put Noah down for a nap. He didn’t nap for some reason.

Blanca came at 4:15 and I tutored 2 students.

Morry took the boys to Evan’s sports class.

I got home a little before them and started the pasta. For dinner I also made some carrot/apple juice. Evan and I liked it. Noah took one sip and didn’t want anymore.

After dinner we started to clean up, but the sink was clogged. We couldn’t get it to drain, so Morry just ran out to HEB to pick up some liquid plumber. I put Noah to bed, but Evan is still next to me. He’s not crying anymore . Maybe I’ll be able to get his underwear and pajamas on him. He’s been naked this whole time and wouldn’t let me get him dressed.

7 years!

Today is our anniversary. It’s been 7 years.

This morning Evan and Noah gave me a hard time for some reason and we were very late dropping Evan off at school. Noah has been extremely whiny lately.

After dropping Evan off Noah and I ran some errands.

We had lunch at home, but Noah didn’t eat very much.

We picked up Evan and then came back home. Noah napped for a little while.

When Morry came home we got the boys’ dinner ready and got ready to go out. Blanca came at 5:45 so that we could have a date night.

Morry and I went to Trattoria Lisina in Driftwood. We had a nice, relaxing dinner. After dinner we tried going to Hey Cupcake for dessert but they were already closed for the night. We ended up at Starbucks instead.

When we got home both boys were in bed and asleep.

Evan and Mommy

This morning we went to the gym. We got a late start so I only had enough time to run/walk on the treadmill for about 30 minutes. Gabby was coming over to the house at 11:30 and I wanted to make sure we were back in time.

We got home a few minutes before Gabby. Evan and Noah played with Gabby for a few minutes while I got Noah’s lunch ready. Then, Evan and left and Gabby took care of Noah. I thought it would be good for Evan and I to spend some time together.

First I had a few things to get at CVS. Then, we went to the park. I brought Evan’s bike in the car. I wanted him to practice riding his bike and feel more comfortable on it. The park we went to has a nice paved path that’s maybe a mile long. At first Evan needed help with the littlest hills. I had to push his back to get him going. By the end he hardly needed any help. He rode his bike around the whole path. We had to stop at each of those exercise areas so he could do flips on the bars.

Here’s a video…

When we got home I made smoothies for us and then put Noah down for a nap.

For dinner we had Fix and Freeze bbq chicken and couscous.

We gave the boys baths and got them ready for bed. They are supposed to be sleeping now, but they are both still awake. Evan just went in Noah’s room to him his water.

Swimming

This morning Morry let me sleep in. I must have been really tired. I slept for a long time.

We took Evan and Noah to the gym around noon. We had planned on working out and then swimming. The boys had gotten up early this morning and we were worried about being out too long, so we decided just to go swimming and skip the workout. The outdoor pool was open. That was the first time we went out there. Evan and Noah played in the pool for a few minutes and then we ordered some food from the outdoor café. Noah got hotdog, Evan got peanut butter and jelly, Morry had chicken tenders, and I had a turkey sandwich. Once we finished eating, Evan and Noah played in the pool a little more.

When we got home we put Noah down for a nap. Evan watched tv downstairs.

For dinner we all had different things. Morry had leftover pizza, I had salad and meatballs, the boys had mac and cheese.

Evan and Noah played for a little while after dinner while we cleaned up.

We just put the boys to bed.
