Round Mountain + Hanukkah

On Friday, we went to Round Mountain to get together with the Krasnow side of the family.  We had a nice time seeing everyone.  Here's a picture.

Yesterday, Morry and I ran some errands.  We went to Dick's Sporting Goods to get Wiffle balls for the boys for Hanukkah.   Then, we went to HEB to do our weekly shopping.

Yesterday afternoon Morry and I clean out his side of the garage and then took a lot of stuff over to Goodwill to donate.

Today, we dropped off Morry's car for an inspection.

Then, we took a long walk from our house to Summer Moon coffee and back.    After that, we went back out to pick up Morry's car.

This afternoon Evan and some friends went to the mall to see a movie and shop for holiday gifts.

For dinner, we ate at Kerbey Lane.

When we got home we celebrated the first night of Hanukkah.

Thanksgiving 2021

We had a nice, small Thanksgiving gathering today.

At around 2:00pm, Aunt Sandy, Uncle Marvin, Joel, Marilyn, and our family met at Grandma and Papa's house for a Thanksgiving feast.

We had a nice time and all of the food was delicious.

Here are some pictures from today.

The Rolling Stones

Last night, for (probably the last) sponsored campaign for Cha Ching Queen, Morry and I were given tickets for The Rolling Stones.

It was an amazing concert.  Here are some pictures.

Since that last blog post, we've been busy with day-to-day things such as school, work, etc.  Evan's baseball has slowed down some.  He still has some practice and lessons.

The kids and I are on Thanksgiving break now.

High School Water Leak + Goodbye Boogey

Yesterday was an eventful day.  There was a water leak at Evan's school.  Without access to running water, the school was crazy.  Kids were waiting in long lines to use only a few working restrooms and port-a-potties.  They eventually said kids could go home.  So, Evan got a ride to his friend's house.  I picked him up there later.

Boogey went to his adoptive family yesterday.   They are a very nice family that we first met when Evan was an infant.  We had a playgroup together.

Today, Bowie said the water was fixed and that everyone should come to school.   As Evan was on the bus on the way to school we saw an email saying there was another leak.  Many kids didn't even bother coming to school.

Evan went to two classes and then Morry picked him up to come back home.

Evan rode his bike to the park to meet a friend for frisbee golf in the afternoon.

I had a busy afternoon of tutoring.

Morry took Evan to meet with a personal trainer and it went well.

When they got home, we had dinner and then I tutored again.

I just finished tutoring.

A Different Kind of Halloween

Morry and Evan went on a fishing trip and got back in the afternoon today.

The kids decided a while ago that they would not dress up or trick or treat for Halloween.

Well, as soon as we started getting the first trick-or-treaters Evan decided to put on his batter's box costume.

Marilyn stopped by for a little bit and sat in the driveway with us.

Then, Evan and Noah walked over to visit with Grandma and Papa.  On the way home, they picked up some candy from the tables set up outside in people's driveways.

While we were waiting for our pizza delivery from Dominos, the boys decided to do a little bit more trick-or-treating, but only to the driveways.  They did not ring any doorbells.

We ate our pizza in our driveway while watching trick-or-treaters collect candy off of our table in the driveway.

We had a bunch of trick-or-treaters and were worried about running out of candy.

When we finished our pizza, Morry, Chewie, Evan, and I walked around while Evan got candy from various driveways and porch bowls.

Here are some pictures from today.

2 Months

Well, it's been almost 2 months since the blog was updated.  Here's what's been going on.

Evan's back to playing baseball, doing well, and enjoying it.

We are back in the swing of things with in-person school for the boys and teaching at my school.

We had a foster dog, Beau, for 3 months and finally found a family for him.  He seems happy with his new family and we visited him with Chewie recently.

I sold Cha Ching Queen.  I had it listed with a broker for a while.  I sold it (for an amount I'm happy with) to this nice couple with 3 young kids.  I'll be working with them over the next few months to train them and help with the transition.

Now, we have a new foster dog, Boogey.  We got him 2 weeks ago as a 9-week old puppy.  He's very cute and sweet, but he has a bad habit of nipping, that we are working on.

Long-time friends of ours, from the baby playgroup, are (hopefully) going to adopt him.  We are just waiting for Gold Ribbon Rescue to do their home visit.

For today's baseball practice Evan needed a costume - so he made a "batters box".  See pic below.  :)

Here are a few pictures since the last posting.

Braces!

This morning I went to my school's orientation for a little bit and then I had a gynecologist appointment.

I picked up Noah from school at 1:45 for his 2:00 orthodontist appointment.

Today, he got braces.  Putting on the braces didn't take very long, but they spent a lot of time with us before and after explaining everything and showing Noah how to care for his braces.

He would not let me take a picture of him with his braces on today, but I did get a few before pictures.

The braces didn't seem to be bothering him too much today.

Shortly after getting home, he left to go to Grandma and Papa's house to cook dinner and Hebrew.

Morry, Evan, and I ate dinner around 6pm and then they left for baseball.

I tutored from 7-7:30 and then picked up Noah.

Later this evening I made Noah some shaved ice for dessert.

So far, he seems alright and has not asked to take any pain medication.

Round Rock Express Games + Orthodontist

Here's what's been going on over the last few days.

On Saturday and Tuesday, Evan went with his friend to the Round Rock Express baseball games.  On Saturday he caught a foul ball in the air.

Morry hasn't been feeling well for the last week and was able to get a telehealth appointment the other day.  The doctor prescribed him some antibiotics.

This week I've had a few doctor's appointments for checkups that I've been way overdue.  I had an appointment with the dermatologist on Monday and today I saw the eye doctor.

Evan has started baseball practices again.  He had a scrimmage on Sunday and will have another one this Sunday.

Today, I took Noah to his orthodontist appointment.   He has one more tooth to lose, but the orthodontist says he's ready for braces now.  He'll get those next week on Wednesday.

Morry and Evan just got home from baseball practice.

First Week Back

The boys made it through their first week back at school.

Noah hasn't told us much about his days, but Evan has talked a lot and seems to be happy with his classes and teachers.

On the second day, Noah's bus did not stop at his bus stop even though there were 10+ kids waiting there, so we had to drive him to school.

Other than that, the busses seem to be working out well.

For dinner tonight, we picked up from Dominos and ate it outside on the little tables at the shopping center.

Then, Morry and Evan went to Evan's baseball practice.

They just got home.

Noah and Evan are playing video games now.

Back to School

Today both boys went back to school.  Evan started 10th grade and Noah started 8th grade.

They both took the bus to school.

After the boys left Morry and I took the dogs for a short walk.  As we were leaving the house, a few of our neighbors were outside after sending their kids on the bus and we talked to them for a while.

I had a staff meeting/lunch at my school today.

I tutored this afternoon.

It seemed like the boys had good days.

Noah didn't want to talk much, but Evan talked a lot about his day.   He's happy that he has some friends in his classes and has friends with the same lunch.  He likes his teachers so far too.

Both boys went to Reid's house this evening to Wiffle ball.

Here are pictures from today.

End of Summer 2021

Today was the last day of summer vacation.

Tomorrow the kids start school and are back in person.

We had a busy summer.  Evan played a lot of baseball and had something baseball-related - whether a game, practice, or lesson just about every day this summer.

At the end of summer, we took a 2 week-long road trip with stops in Tucson, Las Vegas, Moab, Glenwood Springs, Denver, and Colorado Springs.   We had a great time.

We are also fostering a dog through Gold Ribbon Rescue.  Beau is a 10-month-old Golden / Black Lab mix.

Hopefully, we will try to update the blog more this school year.

I'm hoping the boys have a great 2021-2022 school year.

What's Been Going On

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

These last few weeks have been busy.  The boys finished school on June 3. The following day summer baseball kicked off for Evan with two games on Friday, June 4 and a game Sunday, June 6.

On Monday and Thursday of this week, Evan was a counselor at the TRPD camp. He also had practice, etc...

Meanwhile, we have been trying to find someone to fix up our yard.  We have some drainage issues.  That, along with lots of trees in the yard, has caused the grass to die.  Many of the plants did not survive the freeze over the winter.  The backyard is lots of dirt which turns into mud when it rains and that becomes a mess when Chewie goes out.

This week we hired someone to redo the whole yard.  We're adding lots of plants and trees and they are going to bring in dirt and regrade the whole yard along with rocks to help with drainage before putting new sod in completely around the front and back of the house. They started yesterday in trimming quite a few trees to let more light onto the property and they sprayed some herbicide to kill what grass we have left. So now we're taking Chewie on lots of walks because we don't want him out in the backyard with the herbicide down.

Evan played baseball on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week.  He has continued to excel at catcher.  He had a good weekend behind the plate.  The pitching was bad on Friday but he managed to block a ton of pitches in the dirt.  He gave the team a chance.  On Saturday, he caught again but the pitching was much better.  He didn't have to work as hard.  They brought him into pitch in the final inning with a lead.  He was able to shut down the other team and wound up with his second save of the season.  The coach was so happy with his pitching, he started him today.  Apparently, yesterday was just an appetizer.  Because he was lights out pitching today.  He pitched a 6-inning complete game. He struck out 5 and while allowing just 5 hits and only giving up one run. On the season he has now pitched 9 2/3 innings while only giving up the one run. Evan's best friend, Reid, was in the stands watching the game.  His coach from the spring baseball season came, as well, to watch him play.  It was nice that he had so much support.

Evan and Reid went back to Reid's house.  We picked up Simply Pho for dinner and brought it to Reid and Evan while, Rachel, Noah and I ate here.

Rachel is making cookies now.

Until next time...

The last week or so

Here's what been happening since the last post.

Last weekend Michael came to town and we had a nice visit with him, Grandma, Papa, and Aunt Susan.

This week we celebrated our 18th anniversary.  On Tuesday we got dessert at Kerbey Lane. and last night we went out to dinner at Sundancer Grill overlooking the lake.

Evan worked out with Dio on Tuesday and I brought Chewie along.  While he worked out, I took Chewie for a walk on the trails around the school.

Tonight Morry made smoked chicken.  While he was cooking the chicken a big thunderstorm passed through and it's still raining.

Here are some pictures from the last week.

Pittsburgh

Last weekend, we had a nice time in Pittsburgh.

We went to spread Zayde's ashes but also got to spend some time with family and friends.

We met Fran, Ronald, and Rachel's families out there.  We also saw Mike and Darcy as well as Trent's families.

On Sunday, we went to the Pirates baseball game.

We stayed an extra day to do stuff around the city.

On Monday, we went to the Roberto Clemente Museum.

Here are pictures from the trip.
