Walk to Playgroup

Playgroup this morning was at a house very close to us. Since I’m not supposed to lift the boys I thought we’d walk rather than drive. Evan did great, but Noah threw a fit in the middle of the street because he didn’t want to hold my hand. I had to quickly carry him across the street.

Evan and Noah were well behaved at playgroup, but I called Grandma/Lynn to meet us to help me walk the boys back home.

On the walk home there was a woman gardening with her dog outside. It was a cute Irish Setter. The boys enjoyed petting the friendly dog.

When we got home we all went to HEB.

We gave the boys lunch and then put Noah down for a nap and Evan with a video in his room.

During naps Grandma and I got dinner ready. We had the fix and freeze sticky ribs and mashed potatoes. It was all good.

After dinner we took a walk. Evan and Noah walked some of the way.

The boys had showers and now they are in bed.

Lunch with Lizzy

This morning I took Evan to school and then came back home. Morry was working from home today.

Around 9:30am the carpet cleaning guy came. We needed to get out of his way so Grandma, Noah, LIzzy, and I went to brunch/lunch. Austin Java Company allows dogs on the patio, so we ate outside with Lizzy. Lizzy was very good. That is the first time I have taken her to a restaurant.

After lunch we walked the 3 mile loop at the lake. Lizzy was very excited to be there and pulled the first part of the walk.

After the walk we picked Evan up from school and then came home to drop off Lizzy.

The boys had a 2:45 appointment with the doctor. To kills some time we went to Sonic for slushes.

The doctor thinks Evan and Noah just have allergies. We were worried they might have sinus or ear infections, but so far they seem ok.

At home Noah took a nap. Evan played in his room.

For dinner we went to Joe’s Crab Shack.

On the way home we went to 3 different places to try and find kid’s Zyrtec. Finallly, CVS had it in stock.

We just put the boys to bed. Evan is still awake.

The last few days

Well, here’s what has happened the last few days.

Last Thursday, Evan’s class had their first field trip. I came along, as did most moms. We went to the Zilker Botanical Gardens. The kids had a great time, though were more interested in the rolly pollies than the flowers. Here are some pictures and videos - Evan's Class Field Trip

Thursday night we drove to Dallas.

I had my implant surgery on Friday. It was a lot better than I expected. I was just a little sore afterwards. I was even able to go to the park on Saturday.

Saturday night we went over to Sherah, JW, Nolan, and Court’s house. We had pizza for dinner and then went to Sonic for dessert. The boys had a great time playing with each other.

Morry flew home Sunday.

We saw Sherah and boys Monday and Tuesday as well. The boys were really excited to see each other each time.

Grandma/Lynn drove back with Evan, Noah, and me today. I’m not supposed to carry the boys so I needed the extra help.

Evan had his sports class tonight and then we ate dinner at home. We made one of those freeze and eat meals (mango cranberry chicken). It was good.

We just put the boys to bed. We are all glad to be back home. I hope they sleep better here than they did at Grandma and Papa’s house.

Busy Busy Busy

Today was a non-stop day. In the morning I got our dinner ready for tonight – crock pot corned beef and vegetables.

Then, I took the boys to the gym. Evan threw a fit leaving and I was worn out by the time we got to the gym. I was hoping to get there earlier. Morry was leaving as we got there and he wasn’t able to see the kids since I had already put them in the childcare.

I had been on the treadmill for 25 minutes when they called my name over the loud speaker. Noah needed a diaper change. I just went ahead and stopped my workout. I decided to take the boys in the pool so we went in the family changing room so that we could all get our bathing suits on.

Evan and Noah had a great time at the pool. Evan enjoyed it so much he threw a fit when it was time to get out. The family locker room is really nice and each private stall has a changing area and shower. The boys really enjoyed taking a shower in there.

When we got home I gave the boys lunch and then put Noah down for a nap. While I was making more of the freezable dinners (meatballs this time) Evan was playing nearby. I looked over to check on him at one point and he was sleeping on the floor. He must have been pretty worn out from swimming and the temper tantrums he threw.

At 4:15 Blanca came over and I went to tutor two students.

When Morry got home he took the boys to Evan’s sports class.

On my way home I stopped at Lisa’s house (from the Mom’s club). I returned some dresses she let me borrow and lent her my maternity clothes.

Once we were all home we ate dinner and then put the boys to bed. Evan came out of his room at one point, but them seemed to fall asleep pretty easily.

School, Gym, Tutoring

This morning I dropped Evan off at school. He was pretty good. No big fights this morning.

After dropping Evan off Noah and I went to the gym. Noah was good too. He seemed happy to be at the gym and I didn’t see him cry at all. I did a hip hop class and swam a few laps. We saw Morry on our way out. Morry is going to try to go to the gym during his lunch. It’s not that far from his work.

At home I fed Noah lunch and while he was eating I made some dinners. We got a book at Barnes and Noble the other day called Fix Freeze Feast. You prepare food ahead of time and then it’s supposed to be real easy just to cook it when you are ready to eat it. We’ll see how the recipes are. I made bbq chicken and a mango-cranberry chicken. We have 2 meals of each in the freezer now. I’m going to try and do 2 more recipes tomorrow. That way we’ll have stuff ready in the freezer when we need a quick meal.

We picked up Evan at school and then came home for nap time. Noah slept and Evan played in the game room. I ate my lunch at this time.

A little before 4 I woke Noah up so that I could bring the boys to Alena’s house. I met a student for tutoring at 4:30.

Morry picked up the boys and then met me for dinner near where I tutor. We ate a ZuZu.

Morry brought Evan and Noah home and I tutored one more student.

At home Morry gave the boys showers and put them to bed. They were both in bed when I got home and seemed to be quiet.

Noah is making noise right now. He was calling for Evan (who is sleeping). I’m not sure why he was calling for Evan.

Ice Skating

This morning Evan, Noah, and I went to the gym. I ran for 3 miles on the treadmill. Evan and Noah did well in the childcare. The didn’t fight going in and they seemed happy when I picked them. Evan wanted to spend more time there playing on the computers.

We came home at 11:30 to meet Gabby. I asked Gabby to come over to watch Noah so that I could take Evan out and do something fun. When Gabby got here, Evan wanted to play with her so I let him play outside for a while before we got going.

On the way out we stopped to pick up some clothes. I posted an ad on Freecycle that I was looking for some smaller clothes since many of mine don’t fit anymore. A few people said they might have some clothes for me. Anyway, this one lady put together a whole bag full for me. I met her husband at his work and he gave me the bag. There were some really nice dresses, jeans, and other clothes in there.

I asked Evan if he would like to go to the ice skating rink. He got really excited. He has not been ice skating before. He thought it was so cool when I put on his ice skates. He seemed pretty comfortable walking around in them on the floor. Then we got to the ice… he was very whiny at first and didn’t seem to like it. We came back to the seating area and I let him pick out candy from the vending machine to share. He picked the package of red skittles. When we finished the candy he said he wanted to go ice skating again. He would not let go of the rail. He held the rail with one hand and my hand with the other. As time went on he seemed more comfortable. He didn’t want to leave and threw a mini-fit as we were leaving. I asked him what he wanted for lunch, but he was so involved in his tantrum he said he didn’t want lunch so we just came home.

When we got home Gabby left and I put the boys down for naps. Evan started out in the game room, but ended up sleeping in his bed. I think the ice skating really wore him out. It wore me out. Evan after Morry got home, Evan did not want to get up from his nap.

For dinner we had couscous and burritos we made and froze a few weeks ago.

After dinner we went to HEB. We saw a woman from the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls there with her husband and little girl.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed, but since Evan napped he’s not sleeping yet. He keeps coming out of his room.

(Colored) Eggs and Ham

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning Evan came in our room later - around 8am. He went to the bathroom, then got himself some breakfast. I then turned on the tv for him and he very quietly watched and played for a long time.

When Noah got up, we all got up. We came downstairs and had some breakfast and left to go to Barnes and Noble. We had to run to HEB first to return some cat litter that Rachel had gotten that was the wrong kind.

The boys were pretty good at the bookstore. Rachel looked for some cooking books while I sat watching the boys play on the train table. Noah got in trouble one time, but Evan was very good at sharing. On the way out, we stopped and got cookies from the coffee shop in Barnes and Noble. We brought them home to eat for dessert after lunch.

On the way home, the boys said they wanted blue eggs and ham. I made two eggs scrambled with the some blue food coloring in it and some ham. I gave 1/3 to Noah and 2/3 to Evan. They both ate it up. Then Noah had 1 1/2 pieces of ham and Evan had 2 1/2. Then they wanted more eggs. This time I made two eggs with red food coloring. I split it up and they both ate it all. Then Noah wanted more eggs. Rachel made him another egg with pepperoni. He ended up eating just the pepperoni out. Evan wanted some waffles so we made him an Eggo waffle. They both ate their cookies after that.

Noah went down for a nap, while Evan played upstairs. I had to run out to Sam's Club and Rachel worked on the Cha Ching Queen blog.

For dinner, we had spaghetti. The boys did not eat dinner that well, but I think they had eaten so much at lunch that they weren't that hungry.

After dinner, we went for a walk. Evan walked the whole way. He insisted on helping me hold Lizzy's leash for much of the way.

Rachel gave the boys showers when we got home. Evan let Rachel bathe him. I talked to him before about it.

They are in bed now.

Until next time...

Working Today

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today, I had to go to work. Our latest software was due on Monday, so the powers-that-be wanted us all to work on Saturday. We didn't have to get until 10am though. Evan got up at 7:45 and got himself breakfast. I turned on the tv in the gameroom for him.

I left the house around 9:30. Noah was still in his room. Rachel planned on going to the gym with the boys for a 10:30 yoga class. Unfortunately, Evan threw a fit and caused Rachel to be late. He then refused to go into the children's area. Rachel said he crawled down the hallway to the area and into the area, crying. That caused Noah to cry. Eventually they did fine and ended up enjoying themselves at the gym.

After they were done, they came over the office to see me. I was glad everyone came by. Evan wore his sunglasses into the office even thought it was cloudy outside and obviously there was no need to wear them inside. The people at work all thought the boys were very cute. Noah played with the Nerf football I have at my desk. They both enjoyed themselves.

Rachel took them home and gave them lunch. Neither boy ate very much.

I came home around 3:45 or so. Evan was still up, but we don't really want him to take a nap anymore. Rachel took a nap after I got home. I ended up watching the movie Bedtime Stories with Evan.

For dinner we went to Wings-to-Go. Rachel and I shared boneless Buffalo wings. We got the boys a kids meal to share with chicken nuggets. Neither boy ate that though. Evan did eat a bunch of stuff, including a peanut butter and jelly sandwich out of the diaper bag.

While we were eating, it started to rain really hard. There was thunder and lightning. At one point we thought the power was going to go out.

We got home and put the boys to bed. Evan was complaining that he had a cut on his finger. This may be the smallest cut ever. But he insisted on a band-aid. I'm not sure if this is possible, but I think he may be addicted to band-aids.

Until next time...

New Playgroup

This morning we tried out a new playgroup. The one for Evan’s age is getting smaller and smaller. I thought I’d try the one for Noah’s age group. It was a good turnout. There were mostly girls there, but Evan and Noah didn’t seem to mind. They had a golf set that Evan and Noah continuously fought over.

After playgroup we went to the gym. Evan was very excited to see Allen (from his class) there. Evan and Noah did really well and seemed to have a good time. Noah definitely does a lot better when Evan is there with him.

After the gym we came home and ate lunch. I made sandwiches for the boys, but they didn’t eat very much.

For naptime, Noah slept and Evan played in the game room.

For dinner we went to Frank and Angie’s. Even though it was raining we were able to eat outside on their screened in porch. It was nice and the boys ate well. Evan ate almost all of the spaghetti. Noah had a little spaghetti and some pizza. There were a bunch of kids playing outside next to the porch. When Evan was done he asked if he could play with the kids. Evan loves playing with older kids, especially boys. He was following this one boy, but he didn’t seem to mind. As we were ready to leave the rain started to come down harder to we stayed a few more minutes to wait for the rain to calm down.

We just put the boys to bed. I hope they both fall asleep quickly.
