Tutoring Jack

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We had a long night last night.  Baseball practice went long and then Evan's friend Josh was at the house for awhile while his parents moved.  I thought it might be hard to get Evan up this morning but he got up pretty easily.

We walked to school.  When we got back, Rachel went for a run.

I went into Aaron's to work on both Your Trainer and HomeAway stuff.

Rachel went to Deborah's house.  She was having a little luncheon thing.

We walked to get the boys.  Jack came home with us.  The boys had their 15 minutes of fun.  Then Evan and Noah did their homework while Rachel tutored Jack.  After Rachel was done with Jack, they played until John picked him up.

We had tacos for dinner.  Then Rachel left to go tutor.

The boys cleaned up and then got ready for bed.

They are in bed now.

Until next time...

No Plans

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today we really didn't have anything planned.  It was kind of nice.  Last weekend was really busy after in the middle of two busy weeks.  So not having anything was good today.

Rachel did go running with another mother in the morning but I slept in.  The boys slept well too.

I didn't get up until Rachel was home.  I told her that she must not have run that she just poured water on herself to make her look sweaty.

We went to Home Depot in the late morning.  Now that I added a fan to Evan's room I decided I should probably put one in my office.   We also got a few other things while we were there.

We had lunch and then Jack came over to play with Evan and Noah.  Later I made popcorn for them and they watched Star Wars Episode II.

For dinner we went to Genghis Grill.  We stopped at HEB on the way home and got some stuff for the week.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

2.6 Percent

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today ended the first week of school.  I counted the number of weeks of school and there are 38 weeks of school.  So 1 out of 38 is 2.6%.  So the boys have finished 2.6% of the school year.

While we were walking to school, I looked at the boys and asked where their backpacks were.  They had to run home and get them.

Rachel and I went to Wholy Bagel without the boys for the first time in 3 months.  It was nice.

We walked to get the boys.  They were in good moods on the way home.

For dinner, we went to Cypress Grill.  When we came home, we went for a walk.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Almost the Weekend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The mornings have been relatively easy this week.  The boys were in good moods.  We walked with Lizzy on the way to school and she walked well.  Rachel walked the boys into the school and I went home.  Rachel met Lorena at the school and then went to Starbucks.

I went into have a meeting with Your Trainer.

On the way home, I stopped and picked up a smoothie at Smoothie King.

Rachel met some other mom's for lunch.

We walked to get the boys and they seemed to have a good day.

Rachel tutored in the afternoon.  When she got back we had leftovers for dinner.

We took a walk after dinner and now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

More Baseball

This morning we walked to school with Lizzy, then I went for a run.

Deborah came over later in the morning.  She worked on Lizzy and then I helped her with her site.

Morry and I walked to get the boys from school.  They were both in good moods.

Around 5pm Josh was dropped off at our house and then Morry took Evan and Josh to baseball practice.

Noah and I took a walk.

We are waiting for Morry and Evan to get home so we can have dinner and then get ready for bed.

First Regular Day of School

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today was the first regular day of school.  Just a standard day of dropping the kids off.  We didn't go in the school.  I had to wake the kids up who each were in a deeper sleep than yesterday morning.   But the biggest thing that made this a regular day was Lizzy walked with us to school.  I shouldn't say walk, I should say trotted the entire way to school.  Her tail was straight up and wagging.  She was so happy.  She got to see some of the kids who love her and she got to see her golden retriever puppy friend, Brody.  Brody, however, is no longer a puppy but basically a full grown golden.  They seemed happy to see each other.  And Lizzy walked better this morning since at least before her surgery, but I'd almost go as far as to say, I hadn't seen her with this much energy since well before her surgery.

When we got home, Rachel went for a run.

I went into Aaron's later to work on some HomeAway stuff.

In the afternoon, I came home.  Rachel was at a pilates class.  When she got home, we walked to get the boys.  We left Lizzy at home because it was really hot.

The boys did their homework when they got home.  Evan said the homework that one of his teacher's assigned to him was "fun".

In the late afternoon, Noah went with Rachel to tutor and I took Evan to work with Coach Chris on some hitting.  Evan seemed to do really well and enjoy it.

For dinner we made pizza.

The boys are in bed now.  Until next time...

First Day of School 2015

This morning was the first day of 2nd grade for Noah and first day of 4th grade for Evan.  They were both in good moods this morning.  We took some pictures and then walked to school.  First, we dropped of Noah in his classroom and then took Evan to his.

After drop off I met some other moms for breakfast at Waterloo Icehouse.

Then, I went for a run and gave Lizzy a haircut.

The day went by pretty fast.  Soon, it was time to pick up the boys.

Morry and I walked to pick them up.

They both seemed to have good days.

For dinner we had steak, salmon, and corn on the cob.

We took a walk and now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Here are a few pictures from today including pics of the boys reorganized rooms.

First Bucs Practice

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning was the first Bucs practice of the season.  We practiced from 9am to about noon.  It was still really hot.  I think all the kids played well and it was a really good practice.  I thought Evan played well, but he was a little hard on himself.  He actually played first base a bat.  On the last play of practice, he leapt up and caught a ball thrown to him at the height of his jump.  As he fell to the ground he reached out and touched first base with his foot.  All the kids were patting him on the head.
After practice, Darius came with us to get smoothies.  Daniel was going to meet us there.  There was a bit of a mix up and Daniel went to Smoothie Factory rather than Smoothie King so we went there instead.

As soon as we got home, Evan and I cleaned up his room.  Weeks ago we got all the new furniture in there, but we hadn't organized all of it.  I went through with Evan and we either found a place to put it in his room or it went into a box to be put into the attic, or it was thrown out.  After doing that, I installed a fan in Evan's room.

For dinner, we just had little things.  Rachel had some leftovers, Noah had a sandwich, and Evan and I had fried matzoh.

We went to Sweet Caroline's for dessert.

The boys just took showers and are getting ready for bed before their first day of school tomorrow.

Until next time...

Garage Sale

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Rachel and I got up early to get ready for the garage sale.  As we've talked about earlier in the blog, Rachel has been planning for the garage sale for a few weeks now.  She's gone through the boys' toys and their clothes and had everything ready to put out this morning.  Our neighbor, Rita, took care of advertising the garage sale on Craigslist.  Rachel also put something on the Circle C Garage Sale page on Facebook.  The garage sale was set to start at 8am.

Last time we sold popcorn and sodas for a dollar each.   The boys got the proceeds from those sales.  They made quite a bit of money on that last time.

The first people came around 7:30 which we expected.  But then, very few people came.  It was by far the worst garage sale that we've had.  There was just no traffic.  It wasn't that people didn't want the stuff, there was just no people.  As for the boys, we only sold 3 cans of soda and no popcorn.

Around 11:30 we started to clean up.  We loaded just about everything into my car.  Then we had lunch.  We dropped Evan off at Wade's house and then went to Goodwill and donated anything we didn't sell.  Then we drove to Home Depot and got some things we've need including a fan for Evan's room and one for the game room.

Evan stayed at Wade's until 5.  We picked him up and went to Costco and then to Chipotle for dinner.

When we came home, we walked Lizzy to Grandma and Papa's.  We needed to get the mail and check on the house.  Lizzy had her best walk since her surgery.  She was moving much more quickly and seemed to be more spry.

The boys are about to go to bed.

Until next time....

Meet the Teachers

This morning we got our bagels at Wholy Bagel and then dropped off Evan at Jack's house.

They played and swam.  I picked up Evan at 2:15.

Then, a little while later we walked to school to meet the teachers and drop of school supplies.  Both teachers were very nice.  They gave a great first impression.  The boys both seem happy about their teachers and kids in the class.

We ate an early dinner at Texas Roadhouse and then went shopping at Sports Authority.  Evan needed new shoes.

The boys are asleep now.

We all are getting up early tomorrow for our garage sale.

Top Golf and Teachers

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning was relatively calm.  Rachel slept in a bit.  The boys just played with their iPads.  I had a video meeting at 10am.  During that, Rachel went out and bought shelves for the garage from someone in the neighborhood that was selling them.

After the meeting, we went to Top  Golf.  We've been doing some sort of last hurrah before school starts since before Noah started Kindergarten.  This years the boys chose to go to Top Golf.  Amazingly, Rachel won this time.  Evan started off poorly.  All the work we've been doing on his baseball swing seemed to mess up his golf swing a bit, but after a while, he caught fire and he had an opportunity to beat Rachel on his last shot but didn't quite do it.

We came home and I worked for a while.

After that was the school year kick-off event.  They have vendors at the school and you find out who their teacher will be.  Evan is in class with Jack and Wade so he is very happy.  We don't know much about the teacher although Rachel said she heard she was good.  Noah is not with his buddies unfortunately, but he is with the teacher that Ms. Wenske wanted him to have.  Apparently it's a very good teacher, so we are happy.

We had pasta for dinner and then went and got snow cones at a place called Bahama Freeze.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Adios TV Cabinet

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, the boys went with Rachel to tutoring.  I had a meeting with Your Trainer for much of the morning.

I got home just after lunch time.  Rachel and the boys were still gone.  They got back just after me.  It turns out that they stopped at HEB to do some grocery shopping.

Evan and I were supposed to meet Darius and Daniel to play some baseball but Daniel had a last minute work thing.  Instead, the boys and I went and bought some used DVDs from a guy.  We got all the Star Wars movies, the Simpsons movie and Rat Race.

For dinner, we had hamburgers that we cooked on the grill.

We had a very large TV Cabinet that I got back in 1999.  It's really solid wood and very heavy.  In fact, getting it upstairs a few years ago was a very large task.  We needed to get rid of it because it's set up for the old square-style televisions.  We didn't think anyone would want it since most people have flat screens now.  We thought we might pay someone or get a neighbor to help me get it downstairs for the garage sale this weekend.  Rachel decided, though, to post it on the Circle C Facebook Garage Sale page.  Lo and behold, someone said they would pay us $20 for it and come help me get it downstairs.  After dinner the guy and his 12-year-old son came by and helped me get it downstairs and out the door and onto his truck.  And he paid us for it.  I can't believe it.  Rachel can sell just about anything.  It feels good to have that gone.

The boys are finishing up watching the original Star Wars and then they'll go to bed.

Until next time...

Park and Bowling

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Evan went with Rachel on a run.  This time, though, he didn't run, he went on his scooter.

When they got back, Rachel packed everyone a lunch and she and the boys went and had a picnic at the park.

They were only home from the park for a short time before they had to leave again.  They planned another time bowling with Owen and Lorena.  Evan invited Darius so Rachel picked up Darius on the way to bowling.  Darius came back to our house after bowling and played here for a while before Daniel picked them up.

I grilled ribs for dinner while Rachel tutored.  The boys ate very well.  They really like when I make ribs.

We walked to Grandma and Papa's after dinner.  Unlike the last two nights where we had to take care of something over there, this time the boys insisted that our walk take us over there so they could play in the backyard for a bit.  Lizzy enjoyed running around the backyard.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Tutoring and Vet

I tutored from 11am - 1pm and the boys came with me since Morry had a meeting.  Evan and Noah liked the being at that house since they had a really friendly cat and dog.

We were home for a little bit and then I took Lizzy to the vet to get a blood test.

Tonight we had leftovers for dinner and then walked over to Grandma and Papa's house.  We got their mail and put the trash cans away.

Soon, the boys will get ready for bed.

Oasis

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, we had someone come by the house to look at some of the kids books we are going to be selling at the garage sale.  They ended up buying some books.

After that, Rachel took Evan and Noah to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's.

When the everyone got home, we had another person come to the house.  They bought some baby clothes as well as some books.

The boys cleaned up and then the boys and I sat down and watched Uncle Buck.  They really enjoyed the movie.

We went to the Oasis for dinner and dancing.  The band, The Brew, was playing.  Rachel used to go see them play when she was in college and Rachel and I would go see them at the Oasis when we were dating.  It has been quite some time since we saw them play on a Sunday night.  It was very crowded and we had to squeeze in at table meant for two people.  A very nice older couple sat next to us and helped us with things.  The older man was a World War II Vet.  Rachel and I danced a bit and Evan and Rachel danced.  The boys, especially Evan, ate well.  Evan ate these things called Chicken Fireballs which were spicy chicken nuggets and he had salmon.  Noah had beef fajitas.  At the break, the band member that Rachel was closest to came over to say hello and talk to us.

On the way home, we stopped at Grandma and Papa's to put the trash and recycling cans out.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Baseball with Lincoln

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Last week, I got a text from my friend Barry.  He told me he was going to be signing his son, Lincoln, up for baseball.  Lincoln is Noah's age.  Barry was curious if I had any tips.  I offered to meet them to play some baseball and show Barry and Lincoln some things they'll need to know for coach pitch.  This morning we met them half way - at a field off 2222 and Shoal Creek.  On the way, Evan and I stopped at Donut Taco Palace and got donuts.

We had a really good time playing baseball.  Lincoln really hadn't done much at all in the way of baseball, but he was really good.  He showed excellent instincts.  Before they got there, I pitched to Evan and he hit.   And then the last thing we did after working on Lincoln's hitting and fielding was have Evan hit.  Lincoln fielded in the outfield.  He didn't catch anything in the air but he was able to keep the ball in front of him which was good.

We came home and then I hung the tv in the game room and moved the shelves I built over to the walls.  Rachel was busy organizing for a garage sale we had next week.

We had leftovers for lunch.

Evan and I drove over to property that Darius' dad owns that he's turning into a baseball infield so that we can practice there.  Daniel had someone with a bobcat leveling the dirt and putting infield dirt down.  Darius and Evan ran around the property and got dirty in the big mounds of dirt.

Darius came home with us but first we stopped at Smoothie King.

Rachel was working in the backyard on some left over vines we were pulling down.  We came in and I hung the tv in our bedroom on the wall.

For dinner, we got Salt Lick.  Darius ate with us.

The boys are still playing together.  Daniel is on his way over to get Darius.

Until next time...

Food Trailer Night

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel and I didn't sleep that well last night.  Both of us were getting up trying to check on Lizzy and make sure she was ok.  She made it through the night without any issues.  She's been acting a tad bit more lethargic today than she normally is, but I think she's still pretty good.

We stayed home in the morning but then went to Wholy Bagel for lunch.

After lunch I went to a meeting.

When I got home, Rachel was putting Sleepless in Seattle on for the boys on Netflix.  I think they liked it.

For dinner, we went to the Food Trailer Night in the neighborhood.  We got there early so we didn't end up waiting in lines and we got a table to sit at.

After the food trailer night, we stopped in to check on Grandma and Papa's house.  It was doing well.  We picked up the mail.

We're home and the boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

The Pooch is Back

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, just after I got up, the vet called.  We got the unexpected news that Lizzy was really doing well and she could come home any time after noon.  Rachel went back to sleep for a bit and I did work but around 10:45 all of us left to get Lizzy.

We got down to San Antonio quickly.  The vet spent about 10-15 minutes with us explaining what he did with Lizzy and how we should take care of her for the next 10-14 days.  He was really nice and made us feel good about how things had gone.  He said she's on some pain medicine that may make her lethargic.  Then he went and got Lizzy.  Lizzy seemed very confused - as if they had just woken her up or something.  She seemed basically happy to see us but just not sure what was going on.  Even when we got her in the car, she wasn't sure what to do and just stood there for a bit.

By the time we got back home, though, Lizzy was really back to her normal self.  As soon as we got in the house she wanted to go in the backyard.  When she came in she ate a bit.  A little while later she found a rawhide and threw it up in the air and chased it before checking on it.  Really, she didn't have a big incision on her neck and shaved around there, I wouldn't have guessed anything had happened to her.

Rachel tutored in the afternoon.  When she got home, we had salmon, steak which was cooked on the grill and corn on the cob.

After dinner, we went on a very short walk and took Lizzy with us.  She did well.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Dead Battery

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, the vet called early to tell us that Lizzy was doing well.  Her calcium dropped appropriately over night and she was walking around.

I went into Aaron's in the morning to do some fixes for Your Trainer and do some testing.

In the afternoon, Rachel and the boys were going to drive to the pool.  They got in the car and the battery was dead.  It's actually pretty amazing as I think the battery has lasted for nearly 5 years.  That's pretty long for a battery here in Texas.  So she called AAA.  They came out and replaced the battery.  But she had to cancel tutoring that she was going to do later in the afternoon.  They did walk to the pool which is where she called AAA from.

I had an eye doctor appointment in the afternoon.

In the afternoon, the vet called and said that Lizzy was doing really well.  They think she can come home tomorrow afternoon.  That's good news and earlier than we had anticipated.  I'm very happy to hear that.

For dinner, Rachel made frittatas.  After dinner we went to HEB.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

We drove back to Austin on Sunday.  It was a long drive. It took about 13 hours.

We are glad to be home now.

Today, Evan came with me on my run.  He rode is scooter.

Deborah came over at 4pm and stayed for dinner.

The New House

Grandma and Papa left this morning to close on their house.  Morry went into the office.  The boys and I ran some errands.

We got the oil changed, exchanged a game at Game Stop, and got haircuts.

While we were waiting for haircuts Grandma and Papa texted to let us know they were done with the closing. They met us at Sport Clips and then we went to lunch at Crema.

We came back to our house for a little bit and then went over to Grandma and Papa's new house. Uncle Marvin and Aunt Sandy came over too.  Evan and Noah had a good time running around inside and outside of the house.

The boys and I walked back to our house.

When Grandma and Papa were done they came back to our house and then we all went to dinner at Burger Fi.

We are back home and soon the boys will get ready for bed.

Here are some pictures from today.

Ant-Man

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning Papa, Evan, Noah, and I went to see Ant-Man.  We went to the AMC at the mall.  Going on Sunday mornings really is nice because there aren't many people there.  All four of us really enjoyed the movie.  It was the funniest of the Marvel movies so far.

When we got home, we all went to lunch at Bruegger's Bagels.

Papa and Grandma had a walk thru at their new house before their closing tomorrow.  Rachel went over there for a little bit as well.  I stayed home with the boys.

For dinner we went to North By Northwest.  It was our first time going there since they moved right near us.  All of us thought the dinner was really good.

Everyone is talking to Uncle Mike, Aunt Jen, Maya and Artie now.

Until next time...
