Full Day

We drove the boys to school this morning.  From there, I dropped Morry off at the airport.

I walked to school to get the boys and Jack from school.

I tutored Jack and then Audrey at our house.  Then, the boys and a I went to another house to tutor a student that has a test tomorrow.

After that, we stopped at HEB for a few things and then at Subway for our dinner.

Subway was out of bread. Well, they had a spicy bread or a flatbread to choose from. We all got the flatbread and then brought our dinner home.

After dinner the boys got ready for bed and then Facetimed with Morry.

Now, they are in bed.

Uncle Marvin and Jacob

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning we were able to sleep in.  We didn't have any baseball or football.

I drove to Josh's house to pick Evan up.  I took a tour of the new house.  Evan seemed to have fun there.

When invited Jacob and Uncle Marvin to come over for brunch.  Rachel made waffles and I made scrambled eggs and bacon.  Jacob stayed and watched the first three quarters of the Steelers game with us.

After the game the boys cleaned up. Then we drove to Game Stop.  The boys traded in some old games and got two new games.

For dinner we had pasta.

Then we walked to Grandma and Papa's and picked up the mail and checked out their house.

The boys are showering now and will be going to bed shortly.

Until next time...

Football, Sleepover and a Birthday Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan had a football game this morning at 10.  When I woke up, Evan was awake so I got him breakfast.  Shortly afterwards, he and I left to go to his football game.  We stopped at Donut Taco Palace on the way to football.

Rachel and Noah were able to watch a little of the game.  Evan had a nice game.  When he was on offense, he had 4 passes thrown to him and caught two.  Two of the passes weren't good.  One he needed to be about 2 or 3 inches taller.  But he made two nice catches in the middle of the defense and had good runs.  His team won for the second time in a row.  They haven't given up a touchdown yet this season and have only given up two first downs.

On the way home, we stopped and got smoothies at Smoothie King.

In the afternoon, I took Evan to his friend Josh's.  Josh is having some boys sleep over tonight.  Noah came with me.  Then I drove him to a birthday party at Blazer Laser Tag and dropped him off.  I came home and Rachel and I went back to the party for a little while.

For dinner, Rachel, Noah and I went to Tarbouch.  It was really good.

We stopped at HEB on the way home.

Until next time...

6 Years

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning we walked to school with the boys.  It was kind of cloudy so it was cool.

I went into Aaron's for a bit.  Rachel stayed at home.  We met at Wholy Bagel from lunch.  Our friend Seth (originally from Hey Cupcake) met us.  We had a nice time talking to him.  He shared the menu for the concept of the restaurant he's trying to raise money for.  It's a great idea.  I really hope it works out for him.

After lunch, Rachel went to Target, while I went home.  I left to pick up the boys before Rachel got home.

Evan went over Jack's along with Wade.  Noah and I walked home.

Today marks six years since Rachel was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She has been cancer-free since.  I'm very very proud of her and how hard she has battled through all of this.  I'm very glad it's been six years.

For dinner, we ordered Papa John's.

The boys will be getting ready for bed soon.

Until next time...

Checkup and Tutoring

This morning we walked to school.

Later in the morning I had a checkup with my doctor.  Everything in the exam looked good.  The x-rays were normal.  We are still waiting on the blood test.

Morry walked to get the boys at school.

I tutored this afternoon and then got home around dinner time.

We had steak and fish with couscous for dinner.

The boys are having their dessert now.  Soon, they'll get ready for bed.

Getting out of the House and More Baseball

This morning we walked to school.

At 11:30 I went to my hair appointment.  It felt good to get out of the house.

Morry met a friend for lunch at Hula Hut.

Morry walked to pick up the kids from school.  Yesterday, I didn't feel well after walking in the afternoon. I got too hot.  I think I need to wait a little while to do the afternoon walk.

I was supposed to tutor this afternoon, but it got canceled.

Morry and Evan went to baseball practice and got home around 8pm.

For dinner we had leftover ham and baked potatoes.

The boys are in the shower now.

Getting Back to Normal

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

As most of you know, we were in Houston last week where Rachel had surgery.  It didn't quite go as well as expected and she stayed in the hospital overnight and we stayed in Houston an extra day.  Friday I left to surprise a friend in Philadelphia for his 40th birthday.

But today, it seemed like the start of getting back to normal.  Rachel looked and felt better this morning for the first time since before the surgery.  And the day was more like a normal day.  We did go to school a bit earlier than normal.  We had our semi-annual parent-teacher conference with Noah's teacher.  While we talked to her, Evan and Noah played on the playground.  The teacher gushed about Noah.  She talked about how good at Math and Science he is.  She said he was one of the few kids to increase their reading level over the summer.  She talked about he is really an outside-the-box thinker.  And she said he was really just a sweet, good kid.  She couldn't say enough good things about him.  It was very nice to hear.

I went into Aaron's to work on some Your Trainer stuff in the morning.  I met a friend for lunch.

Rachel took it easy during the day.  We walked to get the boys after I got home.

Evan had football practice in the late afternoon/evening.  He played really well.  He's really found his confidence on the team and is playing well.

We had Coke Ham for dinner when we got home.  Both boys ate very well.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

5K and a Scrimmage

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning all four of us got up early.  Rachel and Noah were driving to Cedar Park for a 5K.  Evan and I had to get to the baseball fields for a scrimmage.

Rachel chose to do the untimed 5K because she wasn't sure if Noah could run the entire way or not.  But Noah proved that he could do it.  He and Rachel ran the entire way.  He didn't walk at all.  We are both very very proud of Noah.

Evan started the game and pitched an inning.  He struck out the side.  He gave up a few runs.  He wasn't quite as accurate as he normally is, but he pitched well.  He only gave up one hit.  In six at-bats, Evan reached 5 times.  He hit the ball well towards the end.

On the way home, we got smoothies.

Shortly after we got home, Grandma arrived.

In the afternoon, the boys cleaned.  Then we made popcorn and watched City Slickers.  We were going to do that last weekend but we ended up not being able to.  The boys seemed to like it.

We had Sprite chicken for dinner.  After dinner, we took a walk.

The boys are in bed.

Until next time...

Outdoors

This morning Evan and Morry met Chris to practice some baseball.

They stopped and got smoothies on the way home.

For lunch we made waffles and then went to the park for a little bit.

Around 5pm we went to Costco. The boys ate there while I shopped.  Morry and I picked up Chuy's for us on the way home.

We ate our dinner while the kids played.

Then, we took a walk.

Soon, the boys will get ready for bed.

Everybody Loves The Pooch

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The rain stopped in plenty of time for us to walk to school.  Lizzy came with us.  As usual, she had kids coming up to her while I waited for Rachel to walk the boys into school.

I left in the morning to go do some Your Trainer stuff.  Rachel stayed home most of the morning, but then left to pick up packets.  She and Noah are going to do an untimed 5K on Sunday.  Evan and I have to be at a scrimmage so we can't participate.

Rachel and I met at Wholy Bagel for lunch.

We didn't bring Lizzy to school in the afternoon.  It was still a bit too hot even though it was cooler than any day this week.

We made dinner here and then walked to the Food Trailer night for dessert.  This time we brought Lizzy.  Lizzy was very, very popular there.  Kids and parents alike were all petting her.  People we've seen but never talked to were all coming up to meet Lizzy.  She really liked all that attention.  She also liked the food that people had dropped on the ground.

On the way home, we stopped at Grandma and Papa's to check out the work being done.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

Finally, Some Rain

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

They have been predicting rain for the last two days but it hasn't come.  This morning it was really gross outside.  It was hot and very very humid, but still no rain.  We walked to school through the gross air.

I worked from home most of the day.  Rachel took the woman from the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls to a doctor's appointment in the late morning.

I went into Hey Cupcake for a meeting.  I stopped at Smoothie King on the way there.  They gave me cupcakes to bring home.

When I got home, it still wasn't raining and it had gotten hot.  It was 95 degrees and ridiculously high humidity.  It was an even worse walk to get the boys.

When we got home, Rachel went to tutoring.  While Rachel was tutoring, the skies opened up and it poured.  It made it tough for her to come home.

We had burgers and corn for dinner.

After dinner, the boys watched the first half and a little of the second half of the Steelers game with me.

The boys are sleeping now.

Until next time...

Busy Afternoon

This morning and after we walked to school.  John and Jack walked home with us after school.  The boys played in Jack's yard for a little bit while we talked.

At 4:00 Noah and I went to tutoring for Audrey.  Shortly after Morry and Evan left for baseball practice.

After tutoring Noah was invited to play at Brody's house.

I got a text that one of the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls needed some help. She lives nearby.  She had fallen a couple of days ago and was still in a lot of pain.  She needed someone to take her to the doctor/ER clinic.

Noah stayed at Brody's while I took my friend to an ER clinic.  The woman that runs the PRC met us there and I went back home.  It sounds like they are still there getting x-rays and meds.  I might be going back out to her house later today or tomorrow if she needs more help.

I picked up Noah from Brody's and I finished getting dinner ready.

Morry and Evan got home around 8pm.

We had pork tenderloin, asparagus, veggies, and fruit for dinner. The kids ate really well.

Now, they are getting ready for bed.

First Football Practice

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Grandma and Papa stayed back at the house while we walked the boys to school this morning.  They had to get ready to meet a flooring guy at their house.  Rachel went with them.  When they came back, they got their things and stopped at two more flooring places before leaving.

I went into Aaron's for a Your Trainer meeting.

I got home just as Rachel was leaving to go tutor.  I walked to get the boys.  The boys were in very good moods on the way home.  We had a nice walk.

A little after 5, I left to take Evan to his first football practice.  Noah stayed home by himself for just a few minutes before Rachel got home from tutoring.  The Bucs are playing flag football again.  Evan had a very good practice and earned praise from the coach.  He did a very good job at catching footballs.

When we came home, we grilled flank steak and corn.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Baseball Yesterday, Nothing Today

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Yesterday morning, Evan had his first two baseball games of the season.  I wasn't sure if he'd play because he had a fever the day before.  I woke him up with medicine and thermometer in hand.  He jumped up, ready to go the moment I woke him up.  I took his temperature and it was normal.  He couldn't wait to go to the games.

We stopped at Donut Taco Palace on the way.  Evan talked the entire trip out to the fields.

In the first game, Evan was 2-3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.  He played most of the game in right field but the final inning at third.  Actually, Evan knocked in the first run of the season for the team.  The Bucs won 16-5.

The second game was much more challenging, so Evan played third base the entire game.  He fielded a hard shot on top of third base and fired a bullet to first base to easily get the runner.  He was 1-2 and knocked in the tying run in the third.  The game was really tight.  Through the first two innings, it was 0-0.  The other team scored 2 in the third and the Bucs answered with 3 in the bottom of the third.  No one scored in the fourth.  In the fifth and final inning the other team scored one and the Bucs had a walk-off on an overthrow to first.  Evan was on-deck.  I thought he might have a chance to get the walk-off hit.   In both games, Evan was watching the other team's coaches and was able to steal their steal sign.

Today, we stayed at home most of the day.  Rachel tutored.  Grandma and Papa went to Home Depot and did things with their house.  The boys and I went to the park and played basketball.

Rachel stopped at HEB on the way home from tutoring.

For dinner, we went to Sap's.

The boys just showered and are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Grandma, Papa, Home Depot

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel got up early to go for a run with a friend.  They ran some and then Rachel's friend got stung by a bee or a wasp.  They were near our house so they came back to the house and Rachel drove her home.

When Rachel got back, Evan was up and told her that he didn't feel well.  I came downstairs a short time later.  We took Evan's temperature and he had a fever.  We gave him Tylenol and the fever went away for a while.  He was acting fairly normal after that (though he does have a runny nose) until later in the afternoon.

I started to put fans in my office and the game room only to discover missing screws in the brackets in the ceiling.  I ran to Home Depot and got what I needed.

When I got back, Grandma and Papa were here.  They are here for the weekend to take care of their house stuff. They met a contractor at their house and gave him a deposit.  He is going to start working on Wednesday.

I was able to put a fan in my office, one in the game room, and a dimmer switch downstairs in the family room.

For dinner, Rachel picked up Salt Lick.

Everyone but Evan and me just walked over to Grandma and Papa's house.  Evan's fever had come back slightly.  I gave him medicine and he's in bed.  Hopefully he'll feel well enough to play baseball tomorrow morning.

Until next time...

Week Two Over

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We were a little late getting out of the house this morning.  Noah was giving us a bit of trouble.

I stayed home today to do work.  I just wanted to get a bunch of things done.

Rachel and I went to Wholy Bagel for lunch.  We stopped at the Alamo Drafthouse on the way home to get a gift card.

I had two meetings on the phone before we walked to get the boys.  I wasn't sure if the second call would cause me to not be able to walk but it ended soon enough.

When we got home, Rachel took the boys to the doctor for their yearly check up.  They both were very healthy.  They also got their flu shots.  I'm glad that's taken care of.

For dinner, we had pizza delivered from a place called Jet's.  It was pretty good.

We walked to Grandma and Papa's house after dinner.  Lizzy and the boys really enjoyed themselves in the backyard.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Back to School Night for Noah

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

On the way to school this morning, Noah asked to hold Lizzy's leash.  He had seen Drew hold it the day before.  He really enjoyed it.  He said he wants to walk Lizzy again.

When we got home, I had to leave for a meeting with a client.  From there I went into Aaron's.  It was a busy day.

We walked to get the boys when I got home.  Both boys were in good moods.

Rachel left to go to tutoring shortly after we got home.  I made the boys dinner and then we shared a babysitter with our neighbors.  I walked Evan and Noah over to Brody and Drew's house and they played there.

Back to School night was good.  We really like Noah's teacher.  She definitely is a good teacher - strict but caring.  That's exactly what Noah needs.  He needs structure but he needs warmth as well.  Noah does not do well in chaos.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

Baseball Practice

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning on the walk to school, our neighbors Jenn and her son Brody and daughter, Drew walked with us to school.  Drew is in first grade.  She was very interested in Lizzy and ended up holding her leash and walking Lizzy.  Lizzy seemed to like having Drew walk her.  She was really trotting.

I only left the house to get a haircut today.  I stopped and got a smoothie on the way home.  Rachel stayed home pretty much all day.

We walked with Jack's dad, John, to and from school when we picked up the boys.

Around 4, Rachel and Noah went over to Jack's house for Rachel to tutor Audrey.

Closer to 5, Evan and I left for baseball practice.  It was our last practice before our first two games.  We play two games on Sunday.  Evan is excited to get back out there and play.

Evan and I just got home. Rachel and Noah are finishing up at HEB and then we'll eat dinner.

Until next time...

Back to School Night for Evan

This morning we walked to school then I went for a short run.

Morry went into Aaron's office.

I went to Pilates at 1:00, changed there afterwards and headed to tutoring.  I had 15 minutes or so to kill so I stopped at Trader Joe's on the way.

Morry picked up the kids from school.

I tutored two students and then got home in time to help Morry quickly make dinner.  We ate and then Blanca came over to watch the kids.

Morry and I walked to Back to School Night for Evan's grade.  First, the principal spoke. Then, Evan's teachers took turns speaking to the group.   All of the teachers seem good.

We got home around 8:30.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.
