Hello everyone, this is Morry.
I've complained about this before, but why do smoke detectors alert you of a low battery when you are sleeping? Can they not build in a nice timer that says, it will wait until say, 10am, to alert you? Or if they are worried you might not be home, maybe 7pm? This morning was really bad because the smoke detector went off in my room. Why is that bad? Well besides the fact it was much louder for me, we have extra tall ceilings in our bedroom and the normal step ladder I have cannot reach the smoke detector. The only way for me to reach it is to go in the garage and get a big ladder. I did not want to do that at 5:30am when everyone else was sleeping. But this made Lizzy go crazy. She's very scared of that sound. I just dealt with it and I did change it around 8:30am. I would have liked to have slept in.
We stayed in the morning and played with the Wii.
We went and took a look around the Far West area with Zayde to show him where the JCC was and the other types of things. We then went to lunch at a place called Austin Terrier.
From there we drove down south and stopped by an area with a house we found on Airbnb.
After that we went to some baseball fields. A boy that we don't know was having a birthday party. For his party, he wanted to have a baseball game. So his parents got a field and put together a team but they needed a team to play so they asked Evan and Noah's former coach, Mario to put together a team. Mario called me and asked if Evan would play in the game. A bunch of kids from Evan's select team were playing on the two teams. Evan seemed to have a very good time playing. The fields were very nice. I think everyone had fun and Zayde was able to see Evan play baseball. Rachel, who had been in Dallas, came by for a bit of the game. She drove straight to the fields from Dallas. It was a great idea for a birthday party. The kids all had a really good time.
We came home and Evan and I watched football for a bit while Zayde and Noah played Legos.
For dinner I picked up Yaghi's pizza for us.
The boys are now in bed.
Until next time...

Grandmom Is Here
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Around 2 or 3 in the morning we had an incident with the smoke detector. When the battery goes low, it beeps once every 30 seconds. It freaks Lizzy out. This time it was in Noah's room. Somehow Noah slept through it but I got a ladder and Rachel got a battery and I changed it. I think we could have slept through it but Lizzy was so upset by the sound she would not have let us sleep.
Evan got up early and began playing Wii.
When I got up I did some work and then I had to run over to HEB to get a few things. Noah came with me but Evan stayed at home playing Wii.
At 1:15, the boys and I left to go pick up Grandmom from the airport.
We stayed at home in the afternoon. At one point, Evan and I went outside and played baseball.
Matt, Rachael and Max came over later in the afternoon. Rachael and Max went in the backyard with Evan and Noah and played some baseball.
For dinner, we went to BurgerFi. They have a cool soda machine where you can mix sodas. The boys liked it.
We came home and the boys are now in bed.
Until next time...

Last Day of School
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
At 4am in the morning, the smoke detector began to beep every 30 seconds to tell us we needed a new battery. Considering that we sleep less than 8 hours a day, you'd think that the smoke detector beeping while we'd sleep would happen only 1/3 of the time. I'd say it happens 90% of the time that it decides to let us know. I think the other 10% happens to be during a Steelers game. I think that's what someone needs to invent - a smoke detector that starts to beep during normal business hours.
I took Evan to school. He brought in some of the cookies that we made last night to give to his class.
Noah slept in a while, which was good. When he got up, Rachel and Noah went to HEB to get fruit and things as well as stuff to make more cookies. Rachel wanted to make some for some of our neighbors. From there they stopped at home to put away the refrigerated goods and then went to Noah's gymnastics.
I went to Evan's class party. They had four stations to do things. At one station, they made holiday cards for someone. At another they made snow. They took some powder and added water and it turned into what looked like fake snow at the mall. Another one they had to say make a chart of how many ears and feet if you had 1 through 20 reindeer. Basically it was a counting/addition issue. The last station was counting of Skittles where they had to make a bar chart of number of Skittles by color and then made math sentences out of certain groups. Evan seemed to have a really good time.
I came home and did a little work and then Noah and I went back to pick Evan up. It was 42 and super windy this morning. I put Evan in a t-shirt with a long-sleeve shirt underneath. I did get him to wear a sweatshirt into school but he gave it to me to take home. This afternoon it was in the high 50s. Everyone whose last name wasn't Belkin was all bundled up waiting for their children. When Evan came out he had taken off the long sleeve shirt and was just wearing a t-shirt. I think people thought we were crazy.
For Hanukkah, Evan got a private baseball lesson. I took him to it today. The place was very nice and I was really impressed. The guy started Evan hitting right away. The guy asked Evan if he was right-handed or left-handed. Evan said he was a switch-hitter. The guy took him at his word and Evan did bat from both sides. Afterwards the coach said that Evan was a lot better than he had anticipated. We scheduled another lesson in two weeks.
When we got home, I made pizza while Rachel and the boys finished up the latest batch of cookies. Noah and Rachel just delivered some to Blanca and her family.
We're about to put the boys to bed. Until next time...
