Long Day Today Getting Ready for Tomorrow

Evan and Noah had a good day at school.

While they were in school I went to the podiatrist.

Morry and I both picked up Noah and went to Sams Club.

When we got home I left and rode my bike to get Evan.  We rode bikes home with Jack's family.

The rest of the afternoon I spent getting ready for the garage sale.

Morry and Evan went to a baseball training event in Kyle with Evan's friend Miles.  They had the kids do all kinds of drills and practice.  Evan had fun.

We did more garage sale stuff tonight.

We need to get up super early tomorrow.

Gymnastics

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Evan and I rode bikes to school.  On the way leaving the house, the two 5-year-old twins across the street, Christian and Connor, were getting into their mom's car to be driven to school.  When the saw Evan riding, they jumped out of the car and were yelling "Hi, Evan!" and waving to him.  Once we got to school and walked into the cafeteria, Mr. Valdes was there.  He told Evan that he had been trying to say hi to Evan all week.  Evan was very shy.

Noah woke up when I got home and he was in a very good mood.  He could not wait for gymnastics today.  They have two classes at The Little Gym for kids Noah's age - the sports class and gymnastics.  It's not true gymnastics.  It's not like they are training on the uneven bars or anything.  Noah chose gymnastics, in part because his friend Cole was in that class.  It seemed like Noah asked every hour when we'd be leaving.

We got to gymnastics a minute or two late.  As soon as Noah got there, I heard Cole yell "Hi, Noah!".  Later, the teacher, Mr. Jose, told us that every 2 seconds, Cole told him that Noah was going to be coming.  It just seemed like they were having so much fun in the class.

On the way home, we stopped at Wholly Bagel to get lunch for Rachel and me and then stopped at the bank to deposit some money and get ones, fives and quarters for the garage sale on Saturday.

Rachel picked Evan up from school.  He said he had a good day today.

For dinner, Rachel went to a dinner party for the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls.  I made the boys food while we watched the Cardinals/Nationals game.  If it were up to Evan and Noah, baseball would be on 24/7 in the house.  Last year, in the mornings before school we'd have on cartoons as Evan ate.  So far, we've had the MLB channel on watching highlights of the previous nights games.

I gave the boys showers and now they are in bed.  I like when the school year starts as both boys tend to go to sleep much more quickly.

Until next time...

Good Day at School

Noah woke up early this morning and was up before Evan left for school.  He did not go to drop off Evan.  He stayed at home.

I dropped Noah off at school and he seemed very happy to see Cole was already there.

When I picked Noah up from school he was in a great mood.  One of his teachers just went on and on about how good he was and what a great day they had.  Noah and two other boys sat at a table for lunch for a long time.  They were having a lot of fun together and apparently laughing a lot.

Morry picked up Evan since I left to tutor.  Morry said Evan's teacher talked about how sweet Evan is.  Evan seemed to also have a good day.

Gabby came at 3:15 and played with the boys while I was gone.

I got home around 4:45.

We all went to HEB tonight and then came home and had dinner.  We made a PF Chang's frozen meal.

The boys are in bed now.

Day 2

Last night Noah said he wanted Morry to wake him up in the morning before he took Evan to school.  Morry did that and Noah wanted to go with them to drop off Evan.  Morry and the boys rode bikes to school.

This morning Noah helped me get some stuff together in the garage for this weekend.  Our neighbors are doing garage sales and we are going to join in too.  They emailed a bunch of people on the street.

I took Noah to Cole's house at 12 and he stayed until 2.  He and Cole play really well together.  They had fun.

Noah decided he wanted to come with me to pick up Evan.  I don't feel well enough to ride the bike with the tandem trailer, so we drove to get Evan.  We put Evan's bike in the car on the way home.  Evan seemed to have a good day but he didn't want to talk about what he did.

His teacher seems nice.  I met her today.  Evan's class has homework every night except Friday and spelling tests on Fridays.

This afternoon we brought down a ton of stuff from the attic.  Our hallway is filled with boxes, toys, junk.  It's hard to believe all of that fit in the attic.  Now, I need to go through the stuff to decide what to sell, throw away, or keep.

Morry had a meeting tonight.  He left the house about 5pm and he's on his way home now.

I helped Evan with his homework.  Noah can spell all of the words now too.  They are pretty easy this week.

We ate dinner at home and then went to McDonalds for dessert.  The boys played for a while on the playscape there.

When we got home I gave them showers.  Evan read.   He's supposed to read to use every night. They are in their rooms, but not asleep yet.

First Day of School 2012

This morning we all rode bikes to take Evan to school.  Noah was even in a good mood this morning.  Drop off went well.  Evan seemed good.

We came home for a little bit and then took Noah to school.  Noah was happy to be there and happy to see his buddy Cole.  That drop off went well too.

I had two doctor's appointments today.

I went to my oncologist for a check up and everything looked good.

Later, I saw a rheumatologist.  I liked him.  He did some x-rays and wants me to come back in a few weeks for blood work.  He didn't want to do any blood work today because of my pneumonia.

When I got Noah from school his teacher told me he made a good drawing of a baseball park today in his journal.  Noah showed it to me.  Below his drawing he wrote PNC Park.

Morry picked up Evan from school since I was at the doctor.  Morry said Evan was happy about the day because his friend Jack's class was with them for both P.E. and recess.

For dinner we had burgers - hamburger for Morry and veggie burger for me.

After dinner we took a short walk.  I was pretty tired by the end.

Here are some pictures from today.

The Day Before

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today is the last day before school starts. Evan will be a first grader officially.  Noah will start his last year of preschool.  One year from now, Noah will begin Kindergarten.

I got up and I needed to go to Sam's Club.  Yesterday when we tried to take Rachel's car somewhere it flashed a message that the battery was going bad.  So I took it in to get a new battery.  Their prices were much better than NTB and I got some shopping done while they were replacing the battery.

On the way home, I stopped and got smoothies at the Smoothie King for everyone.  The guy who told the staff that I was his favorite customer was there so I got special treatment.

At home I got lunch ready for the kids.  Rachel had gotten up while I was gone and gotten the backpacks ready for the boys.  We hadn't gone through Evan's backpack since the end of school so Rachel cleaned it out as well as cleaning up a bunch of stuff in my office.

I spent the afternoon working but walked Evan over to Jack's house to play.  The boys were very excited to see each other.  One of the boys from their class last year, Jax, is in with Evan this year.  Jack thought that maybe they made a mistake and they meant to put Jack with Evan and they just mixed up the names.  Later in the afternoon, I went back and got Evan.  Noah came with me both times and played with the older boys while I talked with Jack's dad, John.

The boys played baseball outside when they got home.  Evan came inside screaming "Yes!" and ran into my office to tell me that Noah caught a ball in the air with his glove.

For dinner, we ordered Hula Hut and had it delivered.  We had a gift certificate left from a delivery place that brings food from restaurants that don't deliver.  Rachel got food ready for the boys.

We gave the boys showers and they are now in bed.  Hopefully they get some sleep for tomorrow.

Until next time...

Tryouts

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning at 9:30, Evan had tryouts for baseball.  The term "tryout" is really a misnomer.  Every kid  makes it, it's just that all the coaches watch and that's how they end up drafting players.  I got up around 8 and got Evan ready to leave.  Rachel, who was up late coughing last night, stayed in bed and Noah stayed home with Rachel.

The tryouts consisted of around 10-15 kids per group scheduled each half hour.  Each kid had 5 pitches to hit and then had to run all the around to third.  From there, they had to play shortstop where they were thrown three ground balls and three pop-ups.  After each catch, they had to throw it to first base.  When Evan was on-deck, I smiled at him and gave him the thumbs-up.  His expression never changed. He was very focused.  Even though he was one of the youngest kids, he was the only one to hit each of the 5 pitches.  In the field, Evan wasn't as good catching the ball but made excellent throws to first base.  He really did well and I think he showed himself off well.

When we got home, Noah was in my bedroom with Rachel.  Rachel had just had a coughing fit and Noah went down and got Rachel a Sprite.  Noah can be very helpful.

Evan and Noah had a birthday party to go to.  Rachel is friends with the mom.  She was going to try to take the kids by herself since I have work to do, but I went with her because she didn't look that good.  We only stayed at the party for a little bit but I'm glad we went.

When we came home, neither boy wanted lunch.  I did work, while the boys played and Rachel laid down.  The boys did very well.  They didn't want tv or play the Wii at all.  They just played games they made up or went outside and played baseball.

I made dinner for the boys.  After that, Rachel came down so we could go to Blizzy's.  They are open, supposedly, until 8pm on Saturdays.  Rachel thought that the shaved ice would feel good to her.  Unfortunately, Blizzy's was closed - again.  They keep shrinking their hours.  So we drove over to Sweet Carolines.

We put the boys to bed and they are sleeping now.

Until next time...

Sick Rachel and Meet the Teacher

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I got up this morning and began to work.  The phone rang and it was Rachel using her cell phone from our room.  She had had such a bad coughing fit that she was light headed.  I brought her something to drink and her medicine.  She called the doctor's office to see what to do and they said the chest x-ray revealed that there was a small infection in part of her lungs so she does have pneumonia.  The nurse said the doctor would call back with more information.

I realized Rachel wasn't in a position to go get the last two things needed for Evan to go to bring to his classroom.  We had a big list of school supplies to get.  So I drove over to Target.  It was packed with people looking for the exact same things.  I got Evan the journal he needed but not the pencils.  The list was extremely specific, down to the brand.  So I ended up having to go to Office Depot as well.  I also picked up a notebook for Noah for his class.

When I got home, Rachel was downstairs.  She was able to get lunch for the boys and eat some stuff herself.

Evan, Noah and I got to Evan's school at 3pm to meet the teacher.  We walked the trail as usual.  I refused to park out front where every parent was going to park.  In fact, we would have ridden our bikes but we had to go to HEB afterwards to pick up a stronger antibiotic for Rachel and some prescription cough medicine.

Evan's classroom was very nice and bright and his teacher seemed very nice.  She shook Evan's hand when he got there and gave him a hug as he was leaving.  We bumped into some other families that we know.  It was good to see everyone again.

When we got to HEB the medicine wasn't ready.  I had called before we left to go to Evan's school to tell them when I was going to pick up the medicine.  The boys and I had to wait for 30 minutes.  I was not very happy.

I did some more work when I got home and then I went out and picked up food for us.  Rachel wanted something from Galaxy Cafe and I picked up a pizza for the boys and me.

While I was gone, Evan watched some movie about the first Mexican Little League team that won the Little League World Series.  Now Evan is determined to make it to the Little League World Series.  So after dinner, he and I went outside and played some baseball.

I put them to bed but somehow both kids are in the office with me.  I'm not sure how that happened.

Until next time...

Seattle Trip

We are back from our trip.  Morry and I dropped Evan and Noah off in Dallas and went to Seattle for a few days to meet Maya.

The boys were good for Grandma and Papa.  Unfortunately, I got sick and was not able to hold Maya.

I have had fever, aches, and a cough for a few days now.  I went to the doctor today.   It's mostly likely either West Nile Virus or Typhus.  Typhus is common in Austin apparently.  It's carried by fleas and common in areas with dogs like dog parks.  I haven't been to the dog park lately, but we did go to the lake a Barton Springs.  It's possible I got it there, though I don't remember getting bitten.  I may have bronchitis or pneumonia on top of that so the doctor ordered an x-ray.  I started antibiotics, but if I have pneumonia, he'll give me a stronger antibiotic.  We won't know for a day or two.  Neither are contageous, so that's good for the family.

When we got home today, Morry took the boys to Noah's school for the open house.  Then, they went to swimming lessons.  They stopped at Evan's school to see the class lists/teachers for this year.  Evan apparently got a good teacher and he knows 3 other boys in the class already.

I stopped at HEB on my way home to get the medicine my doctor called in. Even though it was about 2 hours later, it wasn't ready for some reason.  They made me wait another 25 minutes so I got grocery shopping done, even though I didn't feel so great.

For dinner Morry and the boys had pasta.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

Wii Preview

Morry and I had a meeting so Blanca came to babysit Evan and we dropped Noah off at school.

After the meeting we came home and I got Evan.

Evan and I went to a Pink Ribbon Cowgirls lunch at Central Market.

Morry picked up Noah from school.  We all met at home and then left for this Wii Preview Event.

Someone contacted me through my blog to see if I was interested in attending a Wii event where they demonstrate the new Wii system coming out in December.

I gave the info to Aaron and he and Mandy came with us.  We parked at their place and walked across the street to the event.  They had lots of little stations with different types of games to try out.  The kids were interested at first, but then started acting tired.  We left early.  We spent a little bit of time at Aaron and Mandy's apartment and then left.

We made a stop at Bicycle Sports Shop and came home.

For dinner we picked up Blue Bamboo.  We had the kids clean up tonight.  Evan room looked like a tornado hit it.

Now we are going to get the boys ready for bed.

Barton Springs Picnic Lunch

This morning I was trying to figure out what to do with the boys.  They were being good playing inside, but I thought we should get out of the house.

I decided to talk them to Zilker Park.

We parked at the lake trail and walked (Noah in the stroller) about 1.5 miles to Barton Springs / Zilker Park.  The Barton Springs pool was closed so we went to the free part where the actual springs are.  Evan had fun.  Noah was a little timid because there were a lot of rocks and they were a bit slippery.  The water was shallow though, which was nice.

After playing in the water we had a picnic lunch.

We walked back to the car.

At home I made shaved ice for the boys and me.

At 5:20 we went to the gym for swim lessons.  The boys did well.

We had leftover Coke Ham for dinner.

Morry is reading to the boys now.

Noah's school party

I took Noah to school today and then ate breakfast with Evan.  I decided to take it easy today and not run since we did hot Yoga last night.

Evan went to his friend Ben's house at 10:30.  While Evan was there I got some things done around the house.

Morry and I went to Noah's end of school party at noon.  They had food for the kids and adults from Chick-Fil-A.

After school we all went to pick up Evan from Ben's house.

Morry took the boys outside to play baseball before dinner.

For dinner we had Coke ham and rice.  Noah liked the ham. Evan wouldn't try it.

After dinner we went to Sweet Caroline's for shaved ice.

The boys are in bed now.

Sports Class (boys) and Hot Yoga (us)

Today, both boys went to Sports Class.  They had fun.    Morry met us there after he ate lunch with Dmitry.

The boys rode home with Morry and I stopped to get gas on the way home.

I gave Noah lunch when we got home.  Noah ate before Sports Class, but Noah threw a little fit about not wanting lunch then, so I didn't force it.

We went to the 5:30 hot Yoga class at the gym.  Evan's friend, Myles, was in the child care too. Evan was happy to see him.

We ate dinner at home.  Morry had a hamburger.  I had a a veggie burger.  We has squash and zucchini and couscous.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Baseball Lessons

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Noah was the first one up.  Rarely is he the first one up. Evan got up a bit later.  Rachel took Noah to school while Evan stayed here.

Back in April, there was a group coupon deal for a private baseball lesson at some baseball facility here in Austin.  It was $29 for an hour private lesson so I bought it.  I tried to get in before the end of April but it ended up being tough to schedule because Evan was still in school.  I finally got around to scheduling it for today.  It was very interesting.  The instructor started off by showing Evan pictures of pro baseball players from as far back as Babe Ruth.  The pictures were all of the players mid-swing.  He pointed out that their swings, the basics of there arms, legs and upper body were the same.  He then showed us video of four players and broke it down frame by frame.  From there, he had Evan looking at himself in a mirror trying to mimic these swings.  He then hit off a tee for a bit and finally he went in the cage and the instructor threw to him.  I was worried that Evan was bored because it was slow and there was a lot of talking.  But at the end of the hour, Evan said it wasn't enough time and he wanted more.  He said it didn't feel like an hour.

When we got home, Rachel and Noah were coming home.  Rachel had gone to Target and then picked Noah up.

I quickly ate lunch as I had a meeting at a client's location.

As part of the make up for Noah missing several sports classes on our vacation, we signed Evan up for a gymnastics class at the Little Gym.  It was all older kids - Evan seemed to be the youngest and smallest.  Because of that it was fast paced and very active.  Evan seemed to absolutely love it.  They had them running around the gym at one point and Evan tried to run fast.  It was fun to watch.  Noah told us he didn't want to do sports class in the fall, he wants to do gymnastics now.

We stopped at HEB on the way home and got some fruit and veggies for the week while also picking up some prepared food for dinner.

For dinner for the boys I made a pizza bagel for Evan and fish sticks for Noah.  Noah insisted on getting fish sticks at HEB.

The boys are in bed now but not sleeping.

Until next time...

Valencia

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning the boys got up and went downstairs to play on the Wii.  Rachel got up and went for a run.  When she got home we got lunch ready for the boys.  The boys ate while Rachel cleaned up.

We had to get going to San Antonio for Jonah's daughter's, Valencia, birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese.  Aunt Susan came to our house at noon so we could get going.  We left a bit later than we had planned as we were getting food for ourselves, but we knew it wouldn't take us as long as Google Maps said.

On the way down, Evan was seeing license plates all over the place.  I think we saw 13 or 14 different state license plates on the way down.  We've been doing this since our trip.  The only two states we never found were Hawaii and South Dakota.

The party itself was nice.  It was a nice, new, clean Chuck E. Cheese.  They gave the boys tokens.  They had a football game and a baseball game.  The football game you had to throw as many footballs in one of three holes in 2 minutes.  The higher the whole the higher the points.  The baseball game was similar but with baseballs.  Evan played with those almost exclusively.  He loved it.  Noah played a really cool bowling.  Evan ended up playing with that as well.  They had pizza and cake for the kids.

On the way home as we were driving back to I-35, we heard Evan yell "It's Hawaii! There's Hawaii!"  We looked in the other lane and a Kia Sedona minivan was passing us with a Hawaii license plate.  We all started to laugh as Evan screamed at the top of his lungs with such excitement, "I found Hawaii! I found Hawaii!"  I ended up getting behind it so Rachel could try to take a picture.  I hope we didn't scare them.

When we got home, Evan wanted to show Aunt Susan how he could play baseball.  I had a catch with Noah and Evan out front while Aunt Susan watched.  She was impressed with how well they played.  Evan and Noah then went out back.  Evan came in after a bit to tell me that he was "working with" Noah to get better at fielding. Evan stayed outside for another hour playing baseball until dinner time.  When he came back in he was dripping with sweat.  After dinner, he wanted to go back out again but it was bed time.

For dinner, I made two pizzas.

The boys are now in bed.

Until next time...

Lake and Smoothies/Coffee

This morning we took it easy at home and around noon walked around the lake.  I packed food for the boys to eat while we walked.  Evan walked a little.  The boys sat in the stroller most of the time.

After the lake we went to Scooters (coffee shop).  Morry and the boys got smoothies and I got a frozen coffee drink.  We sat there to have our drinks.

We came home and had lunch.

We did lots of cleaning and organizing today.  Morry went through Evan's clothes and took out things that didn't fit him anymore.  We went through the new clothes we got from Kohl's and Old Navy and decided what to keep for the boys.

I worked more on the garage, cleaning out my side (where my car goes).  There's still a lot more to go with the garage.

Morry and the boys played baseball out front for a while.

For dinner we went to Las Palomas and used a Restaurant.com coupon/certificate.

We stopped at Petco to get some food for Lizzy and litter for Mottel.  The boys liked looking at the fish, mice, hamsters, birds, turtles, etc.

The boys are in the shower now and then they will hopefully go to bed.

Healthy

I dropped Noah of at school and gave Evan a few options of things we could do today.  He chose to walk around the lake.  We walked about 2 miles.  It was pretty hot out.  Evan said he wanted to go to Whole Foods.  We needed fruit and vegetables anyway, so we stopped there on our way home.

We picked up Noah from school and then came home and had our lunch.

I made smoothies for the boys.

We ate dinner at home.

Morry took the boys outside to play baseball for a little bit.

Now, they are in bed.

Evan's Big Mistake

Last night Evan got dessert out of the freezer in the laundry room and left the door to the freezer wide open.  We had a very unpleasant surprise this morning.  A night with an open freezer is not.  Not only was the food warm, stuff had leaked everywhere.  We had a big mess.  We had to throw everything away.  There was meat, chicken, fish, vegetables, fruit, already prepared meals I had frozen, desserts, and more.  We made Evan help us clean up everything. Lots of money and time was wasted.  So, that's how the morning started.

Morry dropped off Evan at camp.

Noah and I went for a run (me pushing him in the stroller).

Noah's new teacher, Miss Annie, came to house today.  He has one week left of school in his current class.

Noah and I went to pick up Evan from camp.  Morry met us there.  The kids had made Lego robots.  In the middle of the room they had built towers with plastic cups and plates.  At the end of class the kids got to have their robots knock down all of the towers.  The kids seem to enjoy that.

Jack came over to our house after camp and stayed until about 1:45.

The boys had swimming lessons at the gym at 5:20.

After that we went to pick up food for me at Panera and food for Morry at Popeyes.  I packed a dinner for the boys earlier and we had a picnic dinner at Mt. Bonnell.  It was very nice, at first.  Then Noah got really whiny and made it unpleasant.

We got home not that long ago.  The boys are in bed now.

Busy Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, all of us took Evan to LEGO camp and then we dropped Noah off at his school.  Both boys were in good moods.  Evan was, of course, excited to see Jack and barely grunted goodbye to us. Noah was find during his drop off.

Rachel went for a run when we got home.

Around lunch time, I took my car out to get a state inspection.  I then drove over to the movie theater to get Noah's hat that we left on Sunday.

Rachel took Evan to go get Noah.  From there, they went to the doctor's office so that Rachel could get a Tetanus/Whooping Cough shot.  Jen and Mike asked that we get that before visiting Seattle.  It took a long time there as the office asked if Rachel could verify when her last vaccine was.  So she had to call over to the other doctor's office that we used to go to.

Then Rachel and the boys went to Target.  Rachel wanted to get school supplies for Evan.  She said it was very crowded and they were out of most of the things on the list that they were supposed to get for Evan.

When they came home, Evan went over Jack's house.

For dinner, Rachel had leftovers.  I made something small for the boys and me.

The boys are in bed now.

Sporty Day

This morning Noah woke up before Evan.  That doesn't happen often.

Morry took Evan to Lego Camp.

Ana, a 13 year-old neighbor, came to babysit Noah today.  Her mom told us she just a competed a babysitting/CPR class and has been babysitting a few others already.  I had tutoring scheduled and Blanca and Gabby were not available.  Since Morry was going to be home working we felt comfortable trying out Ana as a babysitter.

I tutored for 2 hours and then came home.

Noah seemed to really enjoy being with Ana. Morry said he could hear Noah talking a lot.  Ana brought stickers for Noah.

A few minutes after getting home I took Noah to Sports Class.  Morry picked up Evan and brought him to meet us at Sports Class.  We have a lot of makeup classes to schedule so they said we could use some of them on Evan.  Evan joined Noah's class today and they both had fun.  Of course, Evan was the best and biggest one in there.  The teachers kept using him as an example.

From there, we had an appointment with Noah's therapist.  She saw both Evan and Noah this time.  She said it would be good to see them together a few times.

Then, we got home and Jack came over with his nanny.  Noah, Evan, and I went with them to ride bikes in the cul-de-sac.

We went to the gym for a 5:30 hot Yoga class. The kids ran around and played more sports in the child care while we did Yoga.

At home, we made grilled chicken, baked kale, and leftover pasta for dinner.

Morry is reading to the boys now.

Lego Camp, Baseball, Shaved Ice

This morning we took Evan to Lego camp.  His buddy Jack got there at the same time.  They were happy to see each other.

Next, we dropped Noah off at school.

I went for a run and then did some cleaning around the house.

Evan had fun at Lego camp. I picked up him at noon and we ate lunch at home.

We got Noah from school and then went to the mall to get a new battery for my watch.

When we got home the boys said they wanted to go to the park to play baseball.  We went to the Circle C park for a little bit and the boys took turns batting.  It was pretty hot outside, so we stopped at Blizzy's for some shaved ice on the way home.

Morry helped Barry moved today and came home late afternoon.

For dinner we had pasta and I made a pesto sauce to go with it.

Morry is reading to the boys now.

Brave and Jack

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It has been a while (last time was Mother's Day) when the boys and I went to a movie.  I always love taking the boys to the movies because they behave really well and they always seem to enjoy themselves.  So we planned a trip today.  We thought we'd let Rachel have a morning to herself. The movie started at 11:35 so it wasn't so much of a morning by herself for Rachel, but she did get a lunch to herself.

As always the boys behaved extraordinarily well.  It was a pleasure to take them.  We got our normal popcorn and Icees.  They loved the previews.  Unfortunately, they weren't that thrilled with the movie.  It was set in the time of castles and archery and that's just not their thing.  There were no lasers and no one got hit in the crotch.  I thought the movie was wonderfully animated and I thought the story was interesting, but I knew it wasn't their cup of tea as the movie went on.

We came home and then left shortly thereafter to go to HEB to get some food.  Rachel and I each got a cart and had our own lists to get through the store faster.  I think it worked.  The boys came with me.

We weren't home for very long before we went over to Jack's house.  His parents, John and Randa, invited us over for dinner and swimming.  They have a pool.  Before we went over, I had a catch with Evan and Noah in the front yard.  It was our second time that day (we went out before the movie).  Evan backhanded two ground balls I rolled to him to his right.  He was very proud of himself.  Tryouts for fall baseball are in three weeks.

We had a great time with the Stephensons.  The boys had a good time in the pool while we enjoyed adult conversation.  They ordered pizza and we ate.  We brought over an ice cream cake for dessert.  Evan and Jack liked that.  We also cut up watermelon.  Evan and Noah almost ate all of it.

The boys went back in the pool for 15 minutes before we left.

They are in bed now though not sleeping.  I think Noah is overtired.

Hot Walk

This morning we walked around the lake with the boys and Lizzy.  It was pretty hot out.  Lizzy was happy to be able to swim and fetch the ball though.

After walking around the lake we stopped to sign the boys up for tball/baseball for the fall.

This afternoon Morry got a haircut.

We ate dinner at a place called Billy's on Burnet.  It a burger joint/ bar food place. It worked out fine.  We brought food for the kids to eat since there wasn't much on the menu they would eat.

We went to Melissa's house tonight.  She was having a little party since her parents and sister were in town.  They had Karaoke there.  The boys were good and had fun entertaining everyone there.  They both "sang" (babbled nonsense words into the mic) and "danced" (rolled around on the ground and acted silly).

Noah fell asleep in the car on the way home.  Morry is getting Evan ready for bed now.

Noah to School Evan at Home

Today I went for a run and then took Noah to school.

Evan had green eggs and ham for lunch.

I spent most of the afternoon cleaning our carpets.  I was sent a fancy carpet deep cleaner (Hoover Max Extract) to review (and keep).  I cleaned the stairs and most of upstairs.  It seems to work well.

When Noah came home the boys road bikes in the cul-de-sac.  We put training wheels on Evan's old bike for Noah.

For dinner we went to Taco Express.

Morry is reading to the boys now.

New Bike and Swim Lessons

This morning I went for a run and then we all went to get Evan a new used bike.  I looked on Craigslist and found one that looked good.  It's a Trek brand that's a few years old.  We met the guy at his work and Evan tried out the bike.  It seemed good so we bought it.

We had lunch at home.

A bunch of our water bottles got ruined today.  I normally put them in the dishwasher, but this time they were melted and distorted (even the ones on the top rack).  I couldn't figure out what happened.  We noticed, somehow, the dishwasher was set to the high heat setting.  Most likely one of the boys pressed it.  We had a talk with them about pushing the buttons.  Now, we need to go out and buy new water bottles for all of us.

This afternoon Morry went to the doctor.  He's still not feeling well.  The doctor gave him some cough medicine and antibiotics.

Around 4:40 we left for the gym.  The boys had swim lessons at 5:20.  We got there early and they were able to play in the water a little bit before the lessons.  They were in separate lessons in the indoor pool.  There were 2 other kids in Noah's class.  Evan ended up having a private lesson.  The kids seemed to enjoy it and do well.

We picked up Morry's medicine at HEB on the way home.

We had leftovers for dinner tonight.

Morry is about to read to the boys and then hopefully they'll go to sleep.

Here are 3 of the melted water bottles.  The others aren't so bad, but the lids don't close well anymore on those.

More Swimming

Noah went to school this morning.  I asked Evan what he wanted to do today and he said go to the new pool.  I said we'd go after I went for a run.  Evan wanted to come with me on the run.  We ended up walking most of it.  He got pretty hot.  We stopped at the school playground for a break and then walked home.

At home we got ready to go to the pool and drove over there.  There was a sign saying it was closed for maintenence.  That was annoying.  We went to the older pool instead.  Evan still had fun.  They have a basketball hoop in the water and he enjoyed that.  We saw a girl/mom from our old playgroup.  Evan wasn't so interested in playing with her though.  I talked to the mom some.

We came home for lunch.  I started getting dinner ready.

Evan came with me to get Noah.

Morry met some friends to see the new Batman movie tonight so he needed to eat early.  For dinner I made pasta with asparagus.

He left the house around 6pm.

I took the boys and Lizzy for a short walk.

We planned on going to Blizzy's for dessert.  Last time we were there the sign said they were open until 7:30.  We got there and it was closed at 5pm.  That was annoying.  We went to another shaved ice place instead.

The boys are in bed now, but not asleep.
