Ultrasound

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

After walking Noah to school, Rachel took Calvin to the vet.  He needed to have an ultrasound to understand why he's losing so much weight.  They wanted to watch him during the day while they were waiting for the ultrasound tech to get there in the afternoon.

Rachel came home and rested for a bit before she went to her first day of teaching this year.

I went into HomeAway today.  I had a meeting and was not able to get home in time to walk to pick Noah up.  Rachel got him and he went to Grandma's house.

I came home after Rachel got home.  Evan got home a little while later.

Around 4:15 we heard from the vet that Calvin has swelling in his intestines with some swelling in his lymph nodes.  They are not entirely sure what it is without a biopsy but they put him on steroids and some antibiotics.  We're hoping that will help him.  Evan and I went to pick Calvin up.

As soon as we got home, we dropped Calvin off and then I took Evan to baseball practice.  Rachel tutored while we were there.

Rachel and I met at Grandma's and picked Noah up.  Then we came home and had dinner.

The boys are in bed.

Until next time...

On this Tuesday

This morning we walked Noah to school.

I got some stuff done around the house and tried to rest a little.  Tomorrow is my first day back to teaching.

I drove to pick up Noah from school since I had to leave the house at 3:15 for tutoring.

I tutored 3 students today.  One was a new student in our neighborhood.

I got home around 7:15pm and we had corned beef and baked potatoes for dinner.

The boys are playing video games now but should be getting ready for bed soon.

Back to Sunday School

This morning Morry and the boys were going to the Ramati's for their fantasy football draft.  They picked up bagels from Wholy Bagel on their way over there.

While they were done, I cleaned and made lunches for the week.  I also took Chewie for a walk.

They got home a little before 3pm.

Today, was the first Sunday School of the school year.   We got there at 4pm and they had a parent meeting.  Then, Morry and I went to Whole Foods and came back toward the end. Grandma and Papa met us there.  There was a song session and then the kids ate the cake they decorated.

For dinner we went to Me Con Bistro.

Felix

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Yesterday morning, Rachel and I took all three animals to the vet for their checkups.  All three animals seemed pretty scared.  Chewie and Flash were very healthy.  Calvin has lost some weight and we're investigating what it could be. He'll need an ultrasound to look at things.

I think Chewie was still a little drained from yesterday because he slept in a full hour longer than normal.  And then he came back to bed after Rachel fed him.

Later in the morning, I took Evan to a scrimmage.  His team scrimmaged the other 13U team from TRPD.  Although as a catcher they had him catch both the top and bottom of an inning to speed things up.  Evan played well.  He didn't get many opportunities but he did have an RBI and scored a run in his two at-bats.

We got Chick-Fil-A and then drove down south to meet the family that adopted Chewie's brother.  Chewie's brother is named Felix.  We met them at a dog facility that had an indoor play area.  Chewie was so excited to see his brother.  We spent about an hour with there talking with Felix's "parents" and letting the dogs play.  They looked almost exactly alike.  It was hard to figure out which dog was which unless you saw their collars.  It was crazy.  It seemed like Chewie was a bit goofier and he seemed to prefer to play with dogs.  Felix preferred so spend time around people.  But in general they were really similar.

Chewie has been exhausted the rest of the day.

We made dinner and the boys are playing Fortnite now.

Until next time...

Another Long Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I worked from home most of the morning.  Rachel went into school around the same time as she did yesterday.  It was nice being home in the morning but I had afternoon meetings at HomeAway.

Rachel got home in time to get Noah from school.

My meeting lasted until nearly 5.  HomeAway is far north so it took me almost an hour to get home in traffic.

Rachel had a quick sandwich and then went to Starbucks to meet a woman.

I made dinner for the boys and me.

Right now Evan is playing guitar in my office as I type this.  Rachel is still out.

Until next time...

Nico

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning we walked Noah to school.  Chewie is so funny on the walk.  He is so excited.  His tail is up the whole time, and he prances.  He loves to go to school.

When we got home, we put Chewie in the house and then we walked across the street and got Nico from our neighbors house.  Nico is a golden retriever that is 6 months older than Chewie.  Chewie loves him.  They needed someone to watch him today so we brought him to our house.  The two dogs were crazy.  They just played as much as they could.  They're both the same color, the have the same shaped face and are roughly the same size.  Nico is a little taller but they are both the same length.  Additionally, they both have black collars.  So when they were really playing, sometimes it was confusing which dog was which.  If they laid down it was easy to tell but when you just seem two dogs jump on each other, it was hard.

Rachel had to go to school early today.  They had staff meetings to get ready for the start of their school which is next week.

I left later in the morning and put the dogs in crates.  Luckily we have a second crate.

When Rachel got home, she brought Nico to his backyard and took Chewie to get Noah.  Then she brought Nico back over when she got home.  She just wasn't able to walk with both dogs and she didn't want to put Nico back in the crate.

Noah went to Grandma and Papa's after school.

I came home and Rachel left to go to tutoring just after Evan came home.  After she left, Evan and I returned Nico home and left to go to his baseball practice.

I met two fathers at a bar/restaurant during practice.  It was a nice time.

On the way home from practice I picked up Noah.

Rachel made dinner from one of those places like BlueApron (but not BlueApron).  She got the meals free as part of the blog.  This one was steak and potatoes.  It was pretty good.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

Second Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The second morning of school seemed to go smoothly.  The boys were not hard to wake up.  Chewie enjoyed his first morning walk of the school year.  We got home in time to say goodbye to Evan.

I did some work at home before going into HomeAway.  Rachel left shortly after me for a meeting at Austin Tennis Academy.

We both were home by early afternoon.  We walked to get Noah with Chewie.  Several kids were excited to see Chewie.

For dinner, we picked up Grandma and Papa and drove to pick up Rachel's cousin, Evan from work.  It's his last week in Austin so we took him to dinner at Kerbey Lane.  We had a nice time and everyone ate well.

We're home now and Evan is doing some homework and Noah is playing on his iPad.

Until next time...

First Day of School, Last First Day of Clayton

This morning we walked Noah to school and went inside briefly to drop him off at his classroom.  He did not want us to go inside the classroom.  :)

Since Chewie couldn't go with us this morning I took him for a walk once we got back.

I did some stuff around the house today.

We walked with Chewie to pick up Noah from school.  He seemed like he had a good day.

Evan got home a little after 4:00 and it seemed like his day went well too.

I left to tutor and a little while later Evan went over to Grandma and Papa's.

When I got home we made dinner - A General Tso's meal from H-E-B.

Then, we drove to get Evan from Grandma and Papa's since there was thunder.

Soon, the boys will get ready for bed.

Here are some pictures from today.

Oh, and a few from when we went to Austin Pets Alive on Friday.

Summer Break is Over

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Friday, I went into HomeAway for our weekly Friday morning meeting.  After that, I met Rachel, Evan and Noah, as well as Grandma and Papa and Rachel's cousin, Leah for lunch.  Leah was in town to see her dad and stepmother.  We ate lunch at Modern Market.

Yesterday, we took it easy most of the day.  For dinner, we picked up  Rudy's and met Grandma and Papa at the Zilker Hillside Theater to watch a musical.  It's a nice free event.  They just ask for donations.

This morning, Luna's family came to pick her up.  Chewie was sad that Luna left the house.

Then Evan and I went to his first full practice of the season.  We stopped at Donut Taco Palace on the way up.  Evan was the catcher for about half of practice.  He looked good blocking balls.  He was able to pick off a runner who was a little far from third base.  The coaches really want him to be aggressive with his throws this season.

The boys relaxed and then cleaned their rooms and the game room this afternoon.

For dinner, we had waffles and scrambled eggs.

As one last fun thing this summer, we went to Bahama Buck's and got some shaved ice.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Last Meet the Teacher

This morning we took it easy.

Jude came over around 11:00 and then we all went to the movies.  We picked up Evan's friend, Henry on the way.  We saw Ant Man.  The kids all had a good time.

After dropping off Jude and Henry we went to Noah's meet the teacher and supply drop off.  This is his last meet the teacher since next year he will be at middle school.  His teacher seemed nice.  We stopped to say hi to Ms. Wenske and Ms. Crensaw afterward.

When we got home, I had a phone meeting.

Then, Morry took the boys to get haircuts.

For dinner, we had grilled steak and made tacos.

We just took Chewie and Luna for a walk.

Spooky House of Death

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

As has been the case for the last few weeks, I went into HomeAway this morning.  It's not too bad.

When I was leaving, Evan and Noah were getting ready to go to the elementary school.  They were going to film the next installment of their movie franchise - Spooky House of Death.  I don't know what this one will be about.  They were at the school for most of the morning.  Rachel walked over with Chewie to check on them at one point.

Luna came to stay with us for a few days again.  She got dropped off late this morning.

In the afternoon, Rachel, Evan and Noah didn't do anything.

I came home from HomeAway and Rachel left shortly afterwards to tutor.

Late in the afternoon, I took Evan to TRPD.  The fall season kicked off today with a players meeting.  I sat outside talking to several of the other fathers I haven't seen all summer.

Rachel took Noah to Whole Foods for a Pink Ribbon Cowgirl dinner.

Evan and I went with Josh and his dad Chad to Jersey Giant Pizza for dinner.  It was nice being with them.

Rachel and Noah should be coming home soon.

Until next time...

Long Bike Ride

Late morning, Evan and I went for a bike ride.   He wanted to go for a long ride and ride to Wholy Bagel.   We ended up riding for 17.2 miles.  We went to the bagel shop, around the trail at the park, to see the old house, and back home.  We had a nice time.

We took it easy this afternoon.

Around 5:00 we dropped Evan off at Grandma and Papa's house and then went to HEB.

Morry, Noah, and I ate dinner at home and then walked to pick up Evan.

Now the boys are playing video games.

It's their last week to relax some before school starts on Monday.

Here are some pictures from today.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Here's what we did the last few days.

Friday
The boys and I went to an indoor mini golf and laser tag place in Round Rock.   Then, we went to Charles Maund to sign the papers for the next 30 days for my car.

We ate at home for dinner and then walked to the food trailer night.  We didn't buy anything there.

Saturday
Evan had a birthday party to go to from 10-1.  While he was there Morry got new tires for his car.

I made challah.  I thought it would be something Noah and I could do together, but he preferred to play video games.

We ate an early dinner at TLC and then we to see the live musical, The Music Man.   It was very good.

Sunday
Morry and Evan met Evan's old coach, Chris at Oak Hill to play and practice baseball.

While they were gone I went for a run and then walked Chewie.

Shortly after getting home, Morry and Evan left to see Mission Impossible.  Noah already had plans later in the day to go to the movies with Jude.

Around 1pm I dropped Noah off at Jude's and they went to the afternoon showing of Mission Impossible.  After the movie, Noah went back to Jude's for a little bit.

I picked up Noah from Jude's and we all ate dinner at home.

The boys cleaned up and then we had dessert at Bahama Bucks.

Here are some pictures from the last few days.

Last Baseball Class

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel tutored early this morning.  A student's parents reached out to her yesterday and scheduled something.

I worked from home all morning.  The boys just stayed home.

I went to HomeAway for a meeting.  Rachel dropped Noah off at his friend Anelio's and took Evan into baseball. Then she went home and rested.

After my meeting, I drove over to the baseball facility.  Since it was the final day of the baseball velo program, they were testing to see what their velocity was on their throws running forward on flat ground.  Evan broke 70mph for the first time.  Like his hitting, he increased his throwing velocity by 10%.  Evan's goal was to break 70mph by the end of the summer and he did it.

Rachel had ordered food from HEB where she could just pick it up.  So Rachel went out this afternoon and picked up the order curbside.  For the most part it was good, but they did miss one item. (which they charged us for but credited back when we called)

For dinner we made spring rolls.  We put the leftover chicken that we had made last night as our protein and put lettuce, vermicelli, carrots and cucumber in it.

The boys are upstairs playing right now.

Until next time...

Boys at Home

The boys didn't want to do anything today so they stayed home.

I went for a run and then got Chewie and walked him around the block.

Grayson, Noah's friend, came over today.  I had to leave around 3:30, so they went to Grayson's house.  Shortly after I got back around 5:30 Noah came home.

Morry took Evan to baseball and they came home around that same time.

For dinner, we had grilled chicken.

Now the boys are playing video games.

Food Blogger

This morning the boys stayed at home.  I went for a run and then took Chewie for a walk around the block.

True Food Kitchen invited me +1 to come for a tasting.  I invited Mom/Grandma to come with me.  We had a reservation for noon.  I wasn't sure what to expect.  For some of these tastings, they have a set menu or set of items that they bring out to you to sample.  Today, we were able to each pick any drink, appetizer, entree, and dessert.  We had quite a feast!  It was all very good.

Morry took Evan to baseball this afternoon.

Around 3:30 Noah went to Grandma and Papa's house.

Morry made pasta for Evan and him and I had some of my leftovers from lunch.

After dinner, we walked to get Noah from Grandma and Papa's house.

Now the boys are upstairs, probably playing video games until it's time to get ready for bed.

Final Week of Baseball Program

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning I went into HomeAway for a bit.  The boys got up late and Noah didn't want to do anything so Rachel and the boys stayed at home all morning.

On my way home, I stopped at Target to pick up some school supplies and things that Rachel had ordered.

I took Evan out to his baseball program later in the afternoon.  They re-tested the exit velocity of the ball off the bat when they hit.  Evan's velocity had gone up 10% from the beginning of the summer.  Then they played a hitting game.  Evan seemed to have fun.

I dropped Evan off at Grandma and Papa's for dinner and went home.

Rachel, Noah and I had General Tso's Chicken that we made from a frozen meal.

After dinner, we walked to get Evan.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Dina's Family

Since the last blog post...

Last week Evan's friend Angelo came over after baseball and spent the night. Then, they went to baseball together the following day.

Noah went over to Jude's house and they made dog treats together.

We went as a family to see the new Jurassic World movie.

Dina and Trevor came into town on Friday to see their son Evan who is here for a summer internship.

On Saturday we met them at the Zilker Botanical Garden, then we walked around South Congress, and had lunch at Home Slice Pizza.

Today, Grandma and Papa invited everyone over for brunch.  In addition to Dina's family, Aunt Susan, Aunt Diane, Uncle Jay, Uncle Marvin, Susie's family, and Lauren's family were there.  We all had a nice time together.

Tonight we met Dina's family at Oasis for dinner.

Now the boys are in bed.

It was a busy and fun few days.

Here are some pictures.
