A Different Kind of Halloween

Morry and Evan went on a fishing trip and got back in the afternoon today.

The kids decided a while ago that they would not dress up or trick or treat for Halloween.

Well, as soon as we started getting the first trick-or-treaters Evan decided to put on his batter's box costume.

Marilyn stopped by for a little bit and sat in the driveway with us.

Then, Evan and Noah walked over to visit with Grandma and Papa.  On the way home, they picked up some candy from the tables set up outside in people's driveways.

While we were waiting for our pizza delivery from Dominos, the boys decided to do a little bit more trick-or-treating, but only to the driveways.  They did not ring any doorbells.

We ate our pizza in our driveway while watching trick-or-treaters collect candy off of our table in the driveway.

We had a bunch of trick-or-treaters and were worried about running out of candy.

When we finished our pizza, Morry, Chewie, Evan, and I walked around while Evan got candy from various driveways and porch bowls.

Here are some pictures from today.

Passover 2021

Last night was the first night of Passover.

Morry and Evan were on a fishing trip.  Since Grandma, Papa, Aunt Diane, Uncle Jay, and I are all vaccinated, we decided to have a small in-person seder + Zoom with other family members.

Yesterday, I made matzoh balls and meringue cookies and Noah made the Passover coffee cake.

Then, around 5:30 Noah and I walked over to Grandma and Papa's house.  It was the first time in over a year that we had been in their house.

Noah is now almost as tall as Grandma.

We had a nice time over there last night.  Noah helped during the plagues part of the seder.  He enjoyed that.

Then, we walked back home.

Today, I did some cleaning in and outside of the house.

I took Chewie for a walk around the lake.

When I got back I made shaved ice for Noah and me.

Shortly after that Morry and Evan came back from their fishing trip with lots of redfish.

Morry and I went to H-E-B and then we made dinner.

Morry grilled steak for him and some of the redfish for the rest of us.  We ate dinner outside.

Here are some pictures from the last two days.

Just The Three of Us

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Both Rachel and I really slept in this morning.  I was surprised how long we slept.  The boys were very well behaved, playing in the game room.

We had waffles for brunch.

Just as we finished up brunch, Josh's family came to pick up Evan.  He was staying the day with Josh and then sleeping over there tonight.  Tomorrow morning, they will go fishing.

Rachel left around the same time as Evan.  She had to tutor a student.

Noah and I played Super Mario Bros in the afternoon.

We ran several errands around dinner time.  We stopped at Petco to get a present for Lizzy, then we stopped at Barnes & Noble.  We had dinner at Chipotle then went to Bed, Bath and Beyond to get some stuff.  We followed that up with a trip to HEB.

Noah is now in bed.

Until next time...

Mr. Social

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I heard the boys, Carter, Evan and Noah up around 7:30.  They played nicely in the game room for a couple hours.

I got up and the boys wanted to go outside and play wiffleball.  While they played, I made waffles for them.  They came in and ate, then went back outside to continue playing.

Around noon, Rachel, Lizzy, Evan, Carter and I walked to Clayton.  Noah refused to go so we left him at home.  We stopped by to take a look at the pond and then Evan, Carter and I played football in the fenced-in field.  We let Lizzy off the leash there and she had a great time running around the field as well.

When we came back, Carter and Evan played outside a bit more before Carter's mom came and got him.

Evan got invited to stay over Josh's house tonight.  So after taking it easy in the afternoon, I took Mr. Social over to Josh's.  Tomorrow they plan to go to a pond to fish.  Evan has a fishing pole he got from Uncle Mike and Aunt Jen so he brought it to Josh's.

Since Noah was without Evan, he got to choose what we would do tonight.  He chose to go to Genghis Grill and eat.  After that, we walked across the parking lot and went to Cafe Monet.  Cafe Monet is one of those places where you paint pottery.  Noah painted a cat bowl for Calvin.

We stopped at HEB on the way home.

Noah is about to go to bed soon.  In the morning, he and Rachel are running the Race for the Cure.

Until next time...

Fishing

We walked over to the pond at the school today.  Evan got a fishing pole from Michael and Jen for Hanukkah and he wanted them to show him how to use it.  It was a nice walk and Evan seemed to have fun, but he didn't catch any fish.  We didn't see many fish in the pond.

Later in the afternoon everyone left to go home.  Grandma and Papa drove back to Dallas.  Uncle Mike, Aunt Jen, and Maya left for the airport.

For dinner we had leftover and the kids had Hanukkah pasta.

In a few minutes we'll start getting the boys ready for bed.

Here are a few pictures from today.

Morning Walk and Preparing for Thanksgiving

This morning Grandma, Papa, Noah, Evan, Lizzy and I went to the school near us. Evan wanted to ride bikes so Evan and I rode the tandem bike there. While we waited for everyone Evan and I played on the playground. Evan and Noah played for a little while on the playground together and then we went over to the pond/dock. There was someone fishing there. The boys enjoyed feeding bread to the fish. We also had some fruit while we sat on the dock.

Once we got home, I left again and went downtown. I need to take care of something with the speeding ticket I got a while back.

The rest of the day was spent at home hanging out and getting stuff ready for Thanksgiving.

Papa picked up Uncle Mike and Aunt Jen at the airport and then we all went to dinner at Red’s Porch.

When we got back the house the kids were going nuts. They had fun playing with Uncle Mike and Aunt Jen.

Once the boys were in the bed the adults played Bananagrams.

Evan and Rachel Bike Ride

This morning Papa went to Hillel and Morry took Grandma there a little bit later to meet him for brunch.

During the Steelers game Evan and I went for a bike ride. First we went to the park at the school. There’s a little pond there and we watched people fish. Evan ate his lunch on the pier. Then, we rode over to the ice cream shop. Evan got birthday cake ice cream with sprinkles.

A little after we got home Grandma and Papa got back to the house.

Evan was swinging outside and all of the sudden the swing broke. One side came out of the top part where the swing chain connects to the bar. We were worried Evan was hurt, but I think it mostly just scared him. Now, we need to contact the company that makes the swing set. Obviously, that shouldn’t happen.

Grandma and Papa left to drive back to Dallas.

Later in the afternoon we went over to Sam’s Club and then picked up dinner at Little Caesars on the way home. Both boys ate very well.

We just got Evan and Noah ready for bed. Morry is reading a book to them now.

Here are some pictures from yesterday along with 2 videos.
