25 Meters

This morning I went for a run.  The boys didn't want to come with me, so they stayed at home with Morry.

We had lunch and then went to the Little Gym for Noah's sports class.

After, we went to the gym to go swimming.  First, the boys swam inside.  When we went outside I asked Evan if he wanted to take the swim test.  At the gym, they have a 25-10 rule.  If a kid can't swim 25 meters you have to be within 10 feet of them at all time.  I would stay that close to the kids anyway, but it's still a big deal when a kid passes and gets to wear a wrist band each time at the pool.  Anyway,  Evan did it!  He swam a lap (25 meters) without stopping.  I could tell he was getting tired at the end. The lifeguard and I were cheering him on a long the way.  Evan was in the outermost lap.  Evan was very proud of himself for swimming that far.  We spent a little more time in the outside pool.   Evan went down the slides a lot.  Noah had fun jumping in a swimming to me.

We took it easy at home this afternoon.

Morry played baseball for just a little bit with the boys before dinner.

Morry still isn't feeling well.

For dinner we had skewered chicken on the grill, with rice, and corn on the cob.

Morry is reading to the boys now before bed.

Back to the Gym

I dropped of Noah at school today and went for a run.

Morry and I decided to join the gym again.  We took Evan there today.  Morry and I did a Yoga class while Evan went to the Kids Club.  After Yoga Evan and I played some basketball in the gym.  Morry went home since he had a phone meeting.

Evan and I picked up Noah from school and then came home and ate lunch.

I got dinner ready and made juice in the juicer today.

Morry started not feeling well this afternoon. It turns out he has a little bit of a fever.  For dinner, I made a sandwich for me since Morry wasn't eating.  We'll use the food I prepared for dinner tomorrow.

The boys are just about ready for bed.

Another Dallas Trip

We were in Dallas from Thursday until today.

Papa got tickets to the Texas Rangers baseball game so that is why we came in town.

We had a nice visit.

Papa, Morry, Evan, and Noah went to the Rangers game last night.

We saw Sherah and her boys Friday night.  We took it easy the rest of the time.

We got back to Austin this afternoon.  We went to HEB and picked up groceries for the week along with already prepared food for dinner for tonight.

The boys are in bed now.

Dmitriy

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Both boys slept for a while this morning.  Noah slept in a bit later but got up in time for school.  He ate breakfast fine but then decided to be tough when it came time to take his medicine.  It seemed to be tied into who was taking him to school.  He agreed to allow me to give him his medicine and take him to school.

Later that morning we had a parent-teacher conference for Noah.  The school has two scheduled a year.  The second one used to be in May but they pushed it back to July.  Basically it's an end-of-year wrap up.  She told us some things that we didn't know.  She said that Noah spends time with a group of kids and that when he spends time with them, he's the leader.  She said that he is independent, in that, if he doesn't want to do what they are doing, he just doesn't do it.  She said that she felt like even that was a leadership quality.  We were pleased to hear that.

The boys seemed excited to be reunited when Rachel picked Noah up from school.

Today is my friend Dmitriy's 40th birthday.  So we had Gabby come over at 6 so we could go to a little party for Dmitriy.  He had it a Highball which is a combination bar/restaurant/bowling alley.  You reserve a lane, you don't pay per game.  And they have a waiter that brings you a food - as you order from a full menu.  There were several people from StoredIQ there.

When we got home, the boys were in bed.  Noah was sleeping and Evan was close to falling asleep.

Until next time...

Sports Class and Cole

Grandma drove back to Dallas around 9:30am today.

Morry, Evan, and I took Noah to sports class.  He had fun there and seemed to be feeling better.

When we got home Noah's friend Cole came over.  The boys had fun playing together and Cole didn't want to leave.

I worked on cleaning out the garage today.  I got one shelving until done.  There's still a lot more to go.

For dinner we had chicken and couscous.

We took a walk after dinner.

The boys are almost ready for bed.  Noah's throwing a fit about something and doesn't want to brush his teeth.

Bris and Bats

Today Noah slept until 10am so I didn't take him to school.

I had Gabby come over so we could go to the bris.  We gave Evan the option of coming with us or staying with Gabby and he chose to stay home.

We went to Aaron and Mandy's place for Jeremy's  bris.  Morry had the job of holding the baby during the bris.  He did well. :)  The bris and hanging out with everyone was nice.

For dinner, we ate pasta at home.

Tonight we went on a bat cruise with Wonders and Worries.  The weather was nice and we got to see the bats come out from under the bridge.

Morry's reading to the boys now and then they'll go to bed.

Rachel's Birthday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It's Rachel's birthday today.  But first we had to go to a birthday party for a girl in Noah's class.  For those of you that remember, there was a girl that took to Evan when he was finishing up preschool, Victoria.  The birthday party was for her sister Caroline who is in Noah's class.

We stopped at Starbuck's on the way in as Rachel got a free birthday drink there.  When we pulled up to the inflatable place, called Hoppin' House, Victoria was holding the door open and yelled, "Hi, Evan!"  Evan was very shy and clung to me.  Eventually he said hi to her.  Noah's friend Cole was there.  Cole followed Evan around the entire time we were at the party.  I think Cole like being with an older kid.  I think Evan liked being a big kid.

From there we went to brunch for Rachel's birthday at a place called the Omelettry.  On the way, Noah had an awful coughing fit. He's had this cough since last Sunday when he had that mysterious fever.  On and off during the week he's had this low-grade fever.  So we made him an appointment at the after-hours clinic while we were waiting to be seated.

Brunch was ok, and we drove to the doctor's office.  The doctor suspected that Noah had pneumonia so she had him get a chest x-ray.  She was correct.  There was some fluid in Noah's lower left lung.  He's on antibiotics now.  She said that the pneumonia was not contagious.  He could give someone a cold, but his pneumonia was most likely caused by having a cold where fluid drained into his lungs.

We came home and the boys played Wii and Evan played baseball outside.  Then Noah and I went to HEB to get his medicine.

Grandma got here at about 4:45 as we were getting back.  She's in town for Aaron and Mandy's baby's bris tomorrow.

We went to dinner at the Melting Pot.  We weren't sure how the boys would do but Evan said it was the "best restaurant" he's "ever been to."  He loved it.  He got the "kid's meal" which was just shrimp he could cook.  They gave him about 12 shrimp.  He ate it all.  Noah did pretty well considering he's not feeling 100%.  Evan loved the chocolate for dessert too.  Noah just ate the strawberries.  Rachel seemed to have a good birthday.  They also brought us non-alcoholic champagne (sparkling cranberry juice) to celebrate.

The boys are in bed now.  I hope they go to sleep quickly.

Until next time...

Campus

Today we went to the University of Texas.  We got free parking on the street, so it started out well.  We went to the Co-op (bookstore), the Texas Union, and walked around campus a little bit.  For lunch we ate at Einstein Bros Bagels on The Drag.  Then, we went to Rita's for dessert.

We came home and did stuff around the house this afternoon.

We went to Target to get a gift for a birthday party.  The boys also picked out some toys with gift cards they had.  Noah got a Wii game and and Evan got Legos.  On the way home we stopped at Austin Pizza Garden to pick up dinner.

The boys are playing with their toys now and then we'll get them ready for bed.

Last Day of Camp

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I had to wake Evan up for camp, but he is typically easy to get up.  He was awake quickly and in a good mood.  I got breakfast for them and then I took Evan to camp for his last day.  Unfortunately, we knew his buddy, Everett probably was not going to be there.

While I was taking Evan to camp, Rachel took Noah to school.

At 10:30, Rachel and I had a meeting with our MB Squared partners.  It was a good productive meeting.

From there we went to yoga.

After yoga we picked Noah up from school.  They had a "camping" day where they had to bring in sleeping bags and they pretended to camp.  The teachers had made a camp fire picture that they put up on the wall so it was like they were around the campfire.  Noah seemed to have fun.

Rachel picked Evan up from camp later.  He had a great time.  They had to solve a crime scene when he got to camp.  They used finger printing and some other CSI type stuff.  It turns out one of the instructors was the culprit.  They also were able to make a shirt there.

For dinner, we picked up Blue Bamboo for Rachel and me.  After dinner we went to HEB because it's not crowded on Friday nights.  We saw our neighbors there doing the same thing with their 5 and 3 year old.

The boys are in bed.  Noah seemed pretty tired.  I think he was about to go to sleep.

Until next time...

Noah's buddy

Evan went to camp and Noah got to go to his friend Cole's house.

Evan was supposed to have a play date with Everett (the kid from his baseball team that also happened to be in Mad Science).  Around lunch time Everett went home sick so they couldn't have their play date.

Morry played baseball with the boys this afternoon.

For dinner we had leftovers.

We took a walk and now the boys are in bed.

Oops

Oops..
No one wrote the blog last night.

I went out with a friend last night to Ruta Maya and Morry was working.

Yesterday Noah had school and Evan had camp.

Morry and I had a 4:00 appointment so the boys went to Clubhouse for Kids.

When we got home around 5:30, Jack came over and stayed with us through dinner.  The boys had fun together.

Attempted Walk

This morning Morry took Evan to Mad Science and got Smoothie King on his way home.

Noah and I tried to take a walk with Lizzy.  We were about a block away from the house when it started barely sprinkling.  I decided to head back home because I didn't want it to pour on us again.  Well, it turned out that's all the rain we got.  Once we got home we didn't see any other rain drops today.

Morry and took Noah to his sports class.  He had fun as usual.

I worked on cleaning out the rest of pantry.  Noah helped me by taking things out of the pantry and sorting them - keep, throw away, and give away.

Noah came with me to get Evan from Mad Science.  They were playing Period Table of Elements Bingo when I got there.  The kids filled in element symbols on their bingo charts and then someone was calling out elements by their symbols/abbreviations.

I finshed cleaning the pantry at home and making dinner while Morry and the boys played baseball outside.

For dinner I made an egg, potato, onion, and cheese frittata.

We took a walk after dinner and now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Mad Science

We dropped Evan off at Mad Science camp and then I took Noah to school.  Morry had a doctors appointment to get some vaccines and a physical.

After dropping Noah off I went to HEB and then for a run.

At noon, Morry and I tried out a Yoga class.  We got a trial to try to out this Yoga place near us for a week.

Morry and I picked up Noah from school after Yoga.

We were home for a little bit.  I did more unpacking.  Yes, we still have unpacking to do from our trip. Then I left to get Evan.

Evan had a good time.  A kid from his baseball team is in the camp with him, so we were glad he knew someone in there.

For dinner we had tacos and then took a walk.

The boys are ready for bed, but not asleep yet.

Wet Walk

We took it easy at home this morning and then went to the pool around 11:30am.  Evan and Noah wanted to walk there.  It was a hot walk, but they both did well.

Evan made a friend at the pool.  He met this kid, Luke, who is also going into first grade.  Luke goes to another school in our neighborhood.  Noah had fun jumping into the shallow end.

We noticed some dark clouds were rolling in and then it started to sprinkle.  As soon as the drops got big, the lifeguards had everyone get out of the pool.  We started walking home in the drizzle, but before we could get home it started pouring.  We got very wet.  Evan thought it was fun.  Noah whined some.

We took a funny video.  The kids were splashing in the puddles before we came inside and a big thunder surprised all of us.

The rest of the day was spent at home.  It's been raining pretty hard for the last few hours.

Noah has a slight fever right now.  He told us he wasn't feeling well at dinner time so we took his temperature.  We'll keep an eye on him and see if he'll be able to go to school tomorrow.

This week Evan is doing Mad Science Camp.  He's very excited about it.

Soon, we'll put the boys to bed.

Round Rock Express

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, after Rachel and I had woken up but hadn't really gotten up, the boys came in our room. They had fun climbing over top of us and jumping on the bed.

We went downstairs and I made pancakes and bacon, while Rachel cut up fruit.  The boys ate well.

We just hung around the house.  Rachel trimmed the boys hair while I did some work.

For my birthday, Rachel had gotten us tickets to see the Round Rock Express.  She found them on Craigslist and got us front row tickets just to the left of home plate, though still behind the net.  The seats were amazing.  I'd say we were 20 or 30 feet from home plate.

Before we went to the game, we stopped at Logan's for dinner.  We figured we'd have an early dinner rather than paying ballpark prices.  The boys both ate very well at Logan's.  They had snow crab on the menu so Evan ate snow crab.  My steak was pretty good.  Rachel also got crab.

The boys had lots of questions about the game since they could see it so well.  We stayed the whole game and really only missed a half an inning while we walked around and got them frozen lemonade.  In the bottom of the ninth a player fouled a ball very hard over the net and it hit near the press box and came down.  I reached as high as I could but only touched the ball.  The ball bounced to the lady next to us.  She gave the ball to Evan.  He was incredibly happy about it.  He had brought his glove to the game and had been talking about a foul ball the whole time.  The game ended two batters later. Since we were sitting so close we walked over to the dugout and two players signed the ball.

There was a concert at the field after the game. They allowed everyone in the outfield.  The boys ran back and forth across the outfield over and over.  Evan pretended running back to catch a ball and leaping up and hitting the outfield wall.  He made me race him over and over again as well.  Noah was just happy running.

We came home late and the boys went right to sleep.

Until next time...

In Search of Shaved Ice

This morning Noah threw a mini fit.  He didn't want to get dressed and didn't want to go to school.  Morry buckled him in the car for me.

Evan came with me to drop Noah off at school and then we went to Bed Bath and Beyond to exchanged the beverage dispenser.  I also picked up my new glasses from the eye doctor.

At home, Evan played Wii while I worked cleaning the panty.  I only got through the bottom/floor.  It took most of the morning until it was time to get Noah.

Morry came with us to pick up Noah.  Evan and Noah were excited to see each other.

We took it easy at home this afternoon.

For dinner we made fried rice.

After dinner Morry suggested we go to Blizzy's for shaved ice.  It was closed.  It closes at 7:30pm now.  So, we knew of another snow cone place near HEB and decided to try it out. I was good.  They had lots of chair for sitting outside, but I had to go in the car after a little while.  Even though I sprayed myself with bug spray I was still getting bit up.

The boys are ready for bed now, but not asleep.

Errands and Heat

Last night Noah was crying in the middle of the night and it took a while for him to calm down.

This morning Noah slept late and then we went for a run. Evan told me he wanted to go for a run, but he ended up running less than a mile.  It was pretty hot.  I had to push both boys in the stroller the rest of the 1+ miles.

Noah was cranky and whiny today.  He's been that way the last few days.

I took the boys with me to Bed Bath and Beyond.  I wanted to get a beverage dispenser so we could have "fancy water".  That's what the boys call water with fruit pieces in it.  I thought we'd all be more likely to drink water if it had a little flavor to it.  I picked one up after reading reviews online, but later at home there was a small crack on the top and the canister was a little dirty, like it might have been used before.  I called the store and told them I'm coming back tomorrow to exchange it for an unused one.  They have one on hold for me.  I hope that one is better.

I also took the boys to HEB.  We had a lot of shopping to do. It took a while and the boys were kind of wild there.

At home, I quickly put away the refrigerated items and then we left again.  Morry and I had a meeting, so I dropped the boys off at Clubhouse for Kids.

For dinner we had leftovers.  We had pasta and pizza.

We took a walk tonight, gave the boys showers, and now they are ready for bed.

Exercise and Maya

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel got up a bit earlier this morning so that she and Evan could go on another 2-mile run.  Noah was sleeping while they went on their run.  It was a tough day as it was hot and humid, even in the morning.  Rachel said Evan was dragging a bit but he completed the run.

Noah got up while they were running and I got him dressed.  When Rachel returned she took him to school.

Rachel and I had a meeting with some partners of ours so we could brainstorm some ideas.

After that, I had a doctor appointment and Rachel and Evan accompanied me.  I have had a small little growth on my leg for many years but it seems to have gotten a bit bigger.  The doctor said it's "scar tissue out-of-control" and nothing else.  It would require more than just shaving it to remove it so she highly recommended not having it removed. It's never bothered me so I agreed.  I just wanted to make sure it was ok.

On our way home, we got the news that Mike and Jen had their baby.  The baby is named Maya Sylvie Krasnow.  She and Jen and doing very well.  Evan and Noah are very excited to have another cousin.

When we got home, Rachel and Evan went for a bike ride around the veloway. Then they picked Noah up from school.

For dinner we went to Home Slice.  That is where I wanted to go for my birthday, but they are closed on Tuesdays.  Unfortunately, the really messed up.  First I'm not sure what happened but they may have lost our order.  Then when the pizza came it was wrong.  They were continually apologetic and did give us the pizza for free.

We got home and took a walk.  Well, Rachel and I walked but Evan and Noah rode their scooters.

They are in bed now.

Until next time...

Morry's 36th Birthday

Today is Morry's birthday.

Noah had sports class today, but after that we went out to lunch at Rudy's. I packed a lunch for the boys since there isn't much they eat there.  They were good and Morry enjoyed his bbq.

This afternoon Noah gave Evan a bloody nose.  We aren't sure what exactly sparked it, but Noah punched Evan in the nose.  Evan is fine now, but at first he was pretty scared.  So were we since we weren't sure if his nose was broken.  He bled a lot at first, but it stopped pretty quickly.  Noah spent the rest of the afternoon in his room.  We aren't sure what to do.   Noah keeps hurting Evan.  We had another serious talk with him tonight.  I don't know what else to say or do to get it through to him.

For dinner Morry wanted to go to Home Slice, but the main restaurant is closed on Tuesdays.  We thought we would eat in their pick up building (there is some seating).  But, it started to rain and we were worried it would be too crowded there.  Morry chose Texas Land and Cattle instead.  We'll go to Home Slice tomorrow.

We are home now.

The boys are allowed to watch a few minutes of the baseball game and then it's time for bed.

Run and Dog Park

Today Noah went to school and Evan was home with me.

I planned on going on a short run and Evan said he wanted to come with me.  He ran 2 miles!  We ran a mile to the school (at a slow pace) and had a water break then ran back home.  Evan told me tomorrow he wants to do 3 miles. I told him we'd stick to 2 miles for a little while and see how he does.

Around lunch time Evan and I went to the dog park. We packed a picnic lunch.  Evan and Lizzy had fun playing catch in the water.  Evan had fun seeing how far he could throw the ball.  One guy even commented about how good Evan's arm is.

On the way home we picked up Noah from school.

The boys were happy to see each other.  They have spent so much time together recently and I think they missed each other today.

We are getting a good rain. It's been raining, lightening, and thundering since dinner time.

For dinner we had pasta.

The boys are ready for bed now.

2012 Road Trip

Well... we made it. We got home yesterday from our road trip.

We dropped Lizzy off in Dallas, went to Memphis, stopped in St. Louis for a few hours, visited Woodstock and Chicago, IL. Then we went to Pittsburgh, the New Jersey Shore, New York City, Washington DC, and Richmond, VA. We stopped in Charlotte for lunch then went to Atlanta, Memphis, back to Dallas to get Lizzy, and then home to Austin.

Whew!

It was a great trip. We had fun visiting friends and family. Here are some pictures from our trip.

Belkin Road Trip 2012

We still have a lot of unpacking to do. I'll work on getting a video up in the next few days.

Today we ran errands.  We went to Office Depot to get a new desk chair for Morry's office.  We also went to the new Whole Foods and then to Smoothie King.

Evan's friend Jack came over to play this afternoon.

For dinner we made salmon, corn on the cob, and burgers on the grill.

Time for bed. Good Night.
