Baseball and Found Dog

This morning Morry took the boys to baseball.

While they were gone I went for a long run.

We both picked them up.  They were having a good time playing outside when we got there.  Evan told us Noah won a pitching game today.

Around 3pm Noah's friend Owen came over.

Evan went to Grandma and Papa's to hang out and ended up staying for dinner.  Evan helped Papa rake and they played some football.

We had pasta for dinner and then walked to get Evan.

On the way home we found a lost dog.  We were able to get it in our garage.  We called a left a message for the owners, but it took a little while to hear back.  Penny was definitely scared at first, but then she calmed down and let us pet her.

They just came to get their dog.  They were very appreciative.

The boys are in bed now.

Here's a picture of Evan raking leaves today.

More Baseball

Morry took the kids to baseball camp this morning.

I ran during the day.

We both went to pick them up at 2pm.  Evan was excited about playing with the older boy.  He even gave the boy our phone number so they could schedule a time to get together.

Shortly after getting home, Wade's dad picked up Evan.  Wade, Nathan, and Evan went to see Star Wars.  Evan seemed to have a good time.

For dinner we had ham and baked potatoes.

Soon, the boys will get ready for bed.

Evan Wins at Clue

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We signed the boys up for a winter break baseball camp.  It's M-W from 9am to 2pm.  It's not real baseball instruction - just different fun games using baseball skills.  I dropped Evan and Noah off around 8:50.  They seemed excited to go.

I went to get Rachel's car cleaned but the place didn't have all their workers show up.

I worked from home all day.  Rachel went for a run around lunch.

Both Rachel and I went to pick the boys up.  The instructor asked me what team Evan plays for and inquired about Evan's interest in playing for his team.  He said if Evan was interested in being a fill-in on a weekend we weren't playing to let him know.  Evan talked non-stop after we picked him up.  Apparently, he and an 11-year-old were getting along very well.  Evan won or came in second in a number of games.  Later in the day when they played a game, they had team captains and Evan was the first one picked and the teams were fighting over him.  He was just so excited.  Noah seemed to have a really good time as well.  Evan said that Noah played well today also.

After getting the boys, we took Noah to get his blood drawn for his surgery next week.

We went to HEB before dinner to get some stuff for the week.

For dinner we had chicken fajitas with some left over chicken.

We played Clue after dinner.  Up until tonight, I had won every game we had played.  After each game, I would tell Evan and Noah the strategies I was using so they'd learn.  Unfortunately, it backfired on me tonight and Evan was able to win the game.  He was so excited.  Noah was excited that I didn't win tonight.

Overall it was a good day for Evan.

Until next time...

Grandma's Birthday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It rained very hard over night.  The rain even worked itself into my dreams.

The Steelers game was not on local television so Evan and I went to Doc's for lunch and to watch the Steelers game.  While the result of the game was not fun, it was nice seeing the game with Evan.  He ate well and got ice cream for dessert.

Rachel and Noah went to HEB and then over to Grandma and Papa's to give Grandma flowers and cards for her birthday.

The boys cleaned up later in the afternoon.

For dinner, we went to NXNW for Grandma's birthday.  The food was very good.  I think everyone was happy.

Then the boys convinced Grandma that she wanted TCBY despite it being 40 degrees and rainy outside for dessert.

When we got home, the boys wanted to play Clue again.

They are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

The Run That Wasn't

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was good to sleep in our own (comfortable) beds last night.  The beds in Galveston were a bit lacking.  I slept very well and ended up sleeping in.

The boys and Rachel planned another long run today.  Rather than go to Wholy Bagel, they planned to stop at Panera's.  I was going to meet them there.  Noah had a harder time running this time.  It was very humid out.  And not too long into the run, it started to rain.  So they agreed they'd go to Starbuck's which is on the way.  It's a little more than 2 miles away, though they walked much of it.  After they had ate, I came and picked them up.

We ate lunch at home.

In the afternoon, Noah watched Rocky V.  Evan wanted to watch Forrest Gump.  Noah watched his movie on his iPad and we watched the other movie downstairs.

We went to Costco where the boys ate dinner and got some things.  Then we took the boys to get haircuts.  On the way home, we picked up food for us from Chuy's.

We played Clue after dinner.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Galveston 2015

We had a nice family vacation to Galveston.

We left Tuesday morning and got back this afternoon.

We rented a house near the beach.  We ate good seafood, went to Schlitterbahn (indoor waterpark), Moody Gardens, mini golf, and took walks on the beach.

Everything worked out well and we had good weather.  The kids and Lizzy were even able to play in the water.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

Hoppin' House and Pizza

This morning we took it easy.  I went for a short run and then the boys and I went to Hoppin' House.

Wade's mom invited us to join them and Evan's friend Nathan.  The boys had a good time.

Afterwards, we got pizza nearby at Giovanni's.  The kids really liked the pizza.

For dinner we had pasta.

The kids are in bed now.

Cloudy Sunday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

When we got up this morning, Evan asked that we go to the park that Rachel and the boys stopped at yesterday.  It's an old school park with a metal sliding board, a merry-go-round and a see-saw.  We drove over there.  They had a very good time.  They also had really never played on equipment like that before so they immediately were testing the limitations of that equipment so we had to make sure they knew the rules.  But they had a good time.

We just hung around the house in the afternoon.  Evan and watched the Steelers game when it came on.

Noah and Rachel went to Grandma and Papa's for a bit.

Noah came down and watched with us in the fourth quarter.

For dinner we had pork tenderloin and asparagus.

After dinner, we walked around the neighborhood and looked at lights.

Until next time...

Big Run

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Since we didn't go to Wholy Bagel yesterday, Rachel suggested we do it today.  She asked the boys if they wanted to run with her and they did.  It's 6 miles to Wholy Bagel.  They made it all the way there.  I didn't have to pick them up on the way.  Rachel said that they had to walk more after about the half way mark because Noah got a cramp in his side but they walked and ran on and off the rest of the way.  They stopped at a park for 5 minutes for the boys to run around too.

After Wholy Bagel, we had to run to Aaron's office.  I had left my computer there yesterday because I didn't want it sitting in the mall parking lot while we watched the movie.

The boys and I watched Rocky III this afternoon.  The boys really liked it.

The boys played outside for the rest of the afternoon.

For dinner, we went to BurgerFi.  Then we did a quick shopping trip at HEB.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

Star Wars!

This morning we walked the boys to school.

Evan had his holiday party today.  The email we got said it was from 1 -2:45.  I figured I'd go at 1:00 for a little bit, come home, and then go back for pickup.  When I got there at 1:00 they were finishing lunch and heading out to recess.  I said I'd come back for the end part of the party.  When I got there at 2:15 they had already wrapped things up and some of the parents were taking their kids home.

Evan and I waited for Noah to come out after school and then we drove to the mall to meet everyone for Star Wars.

Morry, Jacob, and Deborah got there around 2:30 to get a spot in line for the 4pm movie.  When we got there at 3pm the line was out the door.

The movie was really good.  We all liked it.

For dinner we went with Deborah and met Grandma and Papa at Evangeline's.

It's been a long day.  The boys are going to bed soon.

Party and Cookies

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Noah's class Holiday Party was first thing this morning.  We walked to school and then Rachel stayed at school for Noah's party.  Noah was happy to have Rachel there.

I went into Aaron's as we try to finish up the Apple TV app.

Rachel met some moms at z pizza for lunch.

Jack walked home with us in the afternoon.  His dad wasn't able to get home in time.

After dinner, Rachel and the boys made cookies and decorated them with icing.

The boys are now in bed.

Until next time...

No Tutoring

This morning we walked to school.

I had a dermatologist checkup appointment.

We walked to pick up the kids from school and walked home with Jack and John.

I did not have tutoring today since most of the kids already had their finals.

Evan and Noah played outside.

For dinner we had blackened chicken and potatoes.

Soon the boys will get ready for bed.

Math Pentathalon - Part Three

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel and I left the house about the same time - not too long after coming back from dropping the kids off.  Rachel went to see the physical therapist following her appointment last week.  I went in to work on more Apple TV stuff.

At Rachel's appointment, it was decided that she was too advanced for the physical therapist she saw.  So Rachel needs to get the oncologist to come up with another referral.

In the afternoon, Rachel went to tutor and Evan went straight from school to Wade's.  I went to school and met Noah for Math Pentathalon.  Unfortunately, Noah was stuck with the same partner.  He dealt with it well and did great at the same dominoes game they worked on last week.

Noah played outside for a bit with the neighborhood kids until we needed to go get Evan from Wade's house.

For dinner, we had hamburgers cooked on the grill.

The boys are about to get ready for bed.

Until next time...

Lots of Steps

This morning we walked the boys to school.

Later,  I met a friend for a long run.

We walked again to pick up the boys from school.  I have gotten quite a lot of steps today!

I tutored two students this afternoon and got home around 7pm.   While I was gone Evan and Noah played outside with some of the kids from the neighborhood.

We had leftover pot roast. The boys had pasta.

The boys are in the shower now.

Last Night of Hanukkah

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was a rainy, dark morning.  Rachel and I slept in.  The boys played in the game room.

When I got up, the boys and I went downstairs and had breakfast.

At noon, the Steelers game came on.  Evan, Noah and I all watched the first half together.  Noah went upstairs during the second half.  Rachel tutored during the Steelers game.  The Steelers won which was good.

The boys cleaned up their rooms and the game room after the game.  I took care of things around the house: cleaned the litter, changed light bulbs, took out the trash, etc...

Grandma and Papa came over at 5:30.  We all went to dinner for the last night of Hanukkah at Tarbouch.  It's a Mediterranean place.  Everyone enjoyed it and the boys ate well.  Noah had a kafta kabob and Evan had a chicken kabob.

We came home and lit the candles.  The boys are going to get ready for bed soon.

Until next time...

Rachel's Busy Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel set her alarm and got up earlier than she would on a Saturday morning.  She and Evan went for a three mile run together.  They saw Miles' mom and sisters and stopped and talked to them for a little while.  As they were getting close to home, they bumped into Grandma and Papa who were on a walk and walked with them as well.

Rachel showered and then left to tutor.

Evan and I picked up Popeye's for lunch.  Noah didn't want to eat that so he ate a hot dog at home.

Rachel got home and took Noah to a birthday party.

When she got home, she and Evan joined Grandma and Papa and went to a South Austin Jewish Group for a Hanukkah party.  I think everyone concluded it was not very fun.

For dinner we went to Phonatic - a Vietnamese restaurant.  It also was underwhelming.

We are home now and about to light the menorah.

Until next time...

One more week

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today marks a week until school is out for winter break.  It also marks one week until we see Star Wars.

Rachel walked with Lorena after dropping the boys off at school.  That meant that Lizzy and I did not wait for Rachel to come up from school.  We just walked home.  This bothers Lizzy tremendously.  She does not like to leave anyone behind.  It's really hard to get her to move.

We went to Wholy Bagel for lunch.  We got there just after 11 but they were out of quite a few bagels.

In the afternoon, I had to go to a meeting with the investor in Your Trainer.  The investors wanted a presentation of what was going on.  I did not personally present, but I was required to be there.

For dinner, we ordered Papa John's.

We went to Target to get some things including gifts for birthday parties that the boys are attending.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Backyard

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was quite warm this morning.  Last week, the morning temperatures were in the 30s.  Today it was 63 on the walk to school.  Who said it was supposed to get colder as we approach winter?

When we got home, the landscapers were here finishing up the work they were doing.  We've had drainage problems in our backyard so we were having rock put down on the side of the house to keep the water flowing properly and not washing dirt and leaves into the grass.  Hopefully that will help our grass to grow.

I went into Aaron's to work on the new Apple TV app for Your Trainer.

Rachel went to see a physical therapist about some of her neuropathy issues.

It was close to 80 when we picked the boys up from school.

Rachel tutored in the afternoon.

For dinner we had pot roast that Rachel cooked in the crock pot.

After dinner, we put up the Fathead Evan got for Hanukkah.  It is a Fathead of Roberto Clemente's locker in the Hall of Fame.

The boys are showering and getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Yesterday and Today

Yesterday we had a busy day.

After walking the kids to school I ran with a friend.  Then, I had the Pink Ribbon Cowgirl lunch.  After that I tutored 3 students.

Morry picked up the kids from school and then went to Math Pentathlon.

I got home around 7pm.

Today, we also walked to school.

I went for a run.

We walked to pick up the kids from school and then I tutored Jack and Audrey.

When I was done tutoring Audrey, we gave the boys an early dinner.

Then, we picked up Grandma and met Aaron's family at Mozarts for the light show.  It was a nice little show and there were a ton of people out there.

We lit the Hanukkah candles at our house and then Evan and I walked Grandma home.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.  Now, Morry and I can eat our dinner.

Here are a few pictures.

First Time Ever

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Lizzy was able to see Brody again this morning.  Both dogs were equally happy to see each other and everyone.

I went into the office for a meeting with Your Trainer.  I had a lunch meeting after that.

Rachel stayed home today.

We walked to pick up the boys.  Noah came out first.  He handed me his backpack and played on the playground.  Evan came out a bit later and was excited to tell us something.  He first asked if Noah told us what happened today.  We told him that Noah hadn't.  He said that because of the Benchmark tests that Evan was having, his recess time was moved.  He went out for recess while the second graders were out there.  So Noah played football with Evan and his friends today.  Evan said that Noah caught a few passes.  Evan was so excited that Noah played football with him at recess for the first time ever.   We asked Noah about it and he smiled, but he kind of downplayed it.

Evan and I played football outside for a little while later in the afternoon.  Then we lit the menorah.  Rachel left to go tutor.

I made pasta for the boys and they ate and watched Rocky II.

Rachel is on her way home now.

Until next time...

Holiday Celebrations

This morning I went for a long run.

Grandma and Papa picked Noah and me up at 11:45 and we went to the JCC for a Hanukkah party.  It was huge.  There were a ton of people there.  We didn't realize everything was free.  I guess that's why so many people came out.  They had many food trucks and food stations, activities for the kids, and more.

We took it easy at home for a little bit.

Morry had picked up Evan from Josh's house, but soon after getting home Jack invited him over to play.

When Evan came home we lit the Hanukkah menorahs and the boys opened gifts.

Then, we went to an early dinner at Uncle Maddios and headed over to the Trail of Lights.  I was offered a special preview from a group of local bloggers I belong to.   We had a nice time and there.  The boys got dessert under the big tree.  Noah got a cookie and Evan got ice cream.

The boys are taking showers and then they will go to bed.

Here are some pictures from the Trail of Lights.
