Busy Morning with Noah

This morning Evan woke up around 8:30am and I had to wake up Noah a little before 9am so we could take Evan to school. I gave Evan breakfast and brought some breakfast for Noah in the car. We dropped off Evan at school and then went to Target. I was in the DVD section looking at DVD cases. A preview for Up was on the TV and Noah was very excited. Noah also enjoyed identifying all the movies we passed (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatbals, Cars, UP, …).

After Target Noah and I went to a Pink Ribbon Cowgirls (breast cancer group) lunch at Cypress Grill. Noah was the only kid there this time. He was really well behaved until the very end. One woman got up to leave and Noah said “bye” and blew her a kiss. All the women were in love with him. Towards the end Noah was getting kind of cranky so we left a little early.

We went home to drop off the Target stuff and get some checks to deposit at the bank.

We stopped at the bank on the way to pick up Evan.

At Evan’s classroom I let Noah walk in first. Right away Noah started calling for Evan. When Evan saw Noah he ran up and gave him a hug.

When we got home I put the boys down for naps.

Two friends of mine from Dallas wanted to buy us dinner. The plan was for them to pay for the meal over the phone and Morry would pick it up on his way home. I gave them the phone number of the restaurant and our choices, but unfortunately the restaurant wouldn’t take credit cards over the phone. I tried another restaurant and they too wouldn’t take the credit card over the phone. We ended up just ordering from the first restaurant and Morry paid with our card when he picked up the food. We’ll try to find another restaurant that will take credit cards over the phone so my friends can get our dinner on Thursday.

After dinner I tutored one student.

Morry took care of the boys and put them to bed. When I got home Evan was still getting ready for bed so I was able to say goodnight to him, although I’m sure I’ll see more of him tonight when he gets out of bed.

Back to Playgroup

This morning we went to playgroup. It had been a while since we had gone. It was nice seeing all the moms and kids again. Evan and Noah had a good time. Marissa has a play kitchen and Noah really enjoyed making me coffee. He kept brining me a lot of cups and pretending to pour coffee in them.

After playgroup we came home for lunch. I made mac and cheese for the boys. Evan ate all of his, but Noah just spread it out on his tray.

Lauren came over and helped me put the boys down for naps. Then, we hung out here for a while and talked while the boys were napping.

For dinner we wanted to try a new restaurant called Backspin in our neighborhood. When we got there we realized it was really more of a bar and all the tables were taken. We were told it would probably be a while before any of the tables were cleared, so we decided to go somewhere else. We drove over to Cheddars and I ran in to put our name on the list. It was pretty crowded there too and I was told it would be a 20 minute wait. We decided not to wait and try another place. We thought we'd go to Natural Planet, another restaurant near us, because it usually isn’t too crowded.

At Natural Planet we got seated right away, but it took forever for our food to come out. Evan and Noah were very good and enjoyed watching the Winter X Games on TV.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed. It is already quiet in Noah’s room.

Lots of Appointments

Lots of Appointments

This morning Blanca came at 7:15am so I could get to my 8:00am gastroenterologist appointment. I have been having some stomach issues for a while. I had an abdominal ultrasound and cat scan in the last few months and both were clear. Since I want to be extra cautious about any little thing, I wanted it checked out. I could just be IBS stuff or maybe an ulcer. The doctor wants to do an endoscopy, so I have one scheduled for next Thursday.

After the appointment I came home for a little bit and then went to the bone density scan. That test was really easy compared to all the tests I have had lately. I just had to lay on a table for a few minutes while they took a few x-rays.

Then, I went to see the new acupuncturist. I had a hard time understanding him. He’s from China and has a thick accent. I liked him and the office. I felt way more comfortable there than the other place. This acupuncture seemed more relaxing. I’ll go back again next week.

On the way home I stopped at Target.

When I got home it was about 3:15pm and both boys were napping.

Susan from the Mom’s club ordered food for us from Mangieri’s for dinner.

After dinner Evan and Noah played in the house in their new firefighter rain boots that I got them at Target. They also ate pretzels out of their new Toy Story and Incredibles snack containers.

We just put the boys to bed. I’m expecting this to be like almost every night. Noah usually goes to sleep right away and Evan either keeps yelling for us requesting something or coming downstairs until we go upstairs to bed.

Hanging out with Aunt Susan

This morning Aunt Susan came over to help me out with the boys. We hung out at the house for a little bit and then went to the park. It was nice getting out of the house. I probably couldn’t have gone to the park by myself with the boys. Noah wanted to be on the playground so Aunt Susan stayed with him. I went with Evan over to the basketball court. Evan enjoyed throwing a tennis ball into the basketball hoop. He actually got it in there quite a few times.

After the park we went to Subway to pick up lunch. Evan and Noah both picked out Doritos to bring home. Aunt Susan and I ate our Subway sandwiches at home. Evan and Noah had their chips and yogurt with fruit.

Aunt Susan stayed to help me put the boys down for naps and then she went home.

Before dinner we had a few visitors at the house. Rita and Blanca came over to give presents to Evan and Noah. They got some cute books, one of which was a Toy Story one. Bernardo, Gabriela, and Sebastian also came over. Bernardo makes healthy juices at home and he brought some over for me to try. He made one with apples, carrots, and lemons. It was actually really good. Also, a mom from the mom’s club came over to drop off dinner as well.

We just put the boys to bed. They are both still making noises.

Acupuncture and M&M Cookies

This morning Jodie picked up Evan and brought him to school. It’s his last day of school before the holidays.

Matt and Rachael came to help again this morning.

I had an acupuncture appointment at 10:15. The appointment I went to last week was just for testing before they do any kinds of treatments. The woman did a few different tests like blood pressure, looking at my tongue, and some other things which they charged $73. I thought that was pretty expensive for not even getting any kind of treatment. Today she mostly just talked about treatments they offer and drew stuff on the whiteboard. It felt like a sales pitch. The actual acupuncture was maybe 20 minutes. It took about 5 minutes for her to place a few (maybe 10) needles in various spots. Then, she left the room for 15 minutes and came back in to take them out. That was it. I was charged $63 for today. I’m wondering if that is normally how it works or am I getting ripped off. It sure seems like that to me. I don’t think I’ll go back there. I’m going to ask around for recommendations of a different place to go.

On the way home I stopped at HEB and got some groceries.

Matt and Rachael stayed until after I ate lunch.

When Evan got home I put the boys down for naps.

For dinner Jill and Michael ordered Austin Pizza Garden for us and Morry picked it up on his way home.

After dinner I made M&M cookies. It had been a while since I made cookies. It seemed like a good day for it.

My hands are still hurting, but they are getting a little better. They are starting to peel now and it’s still hard for me to do some every day things.

Well, we just put the boys to bed. Noah was good during the day today, but got really cranky tonight. He seems to be quiet now. Evan is still up.
