Baseball, Passover, Hike and the Dog Park

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We had a full weekend this weekend.  It started out with a semi-relaxed morning yesterday morning, and then what felt like non-stop after that.

Evan and I left the house around 11am to go to his games. It was a one-day tournament.  In the first game, Evan played third base the whole game.  He made two very nice plays.  On one play there was a hard hit line drive to his left.  He dove and came down with the ball.  You could see the ball sticking out of his glove a bit. Later in the game, he back-handed a ball going down the line and threw across the diamond to get the out.  Unfortunately, they lost that game.

In the second game, Evan caught the whole game.  He picked off a runner who had gotten to far from third in the first inning.  He also should have thrown a runner out stealing both second and third but in both instances, the fielder made a mistake putting the tag down.  He really played well at catcher.  Again, it was unfortunate but the team last.  Also the games ran long which made us late for the Seder.

We got to the Seder about an hour late.  I don't think the actual Seder started too much before we got there.  Maybe 15-20 minutes.  Noah took over the job of "God" from me.  I had done it the last three years.  Last year, we introduced "God, Jr." played by Noah.  This year he moved up.  This part requires answering Papa talking about the plagues he's going to do to the Egyptians.  Noah did a really good job.

Evan and Noah had a good time playing with their cousins, Nolan and Court.

This morning we got up and got going early to take Chewie to Emma Long Park.  There is a 3-mile leash-less hike there.  We got there at 10:30 but the park had already closed due to capacity.  We found a spot along the side of the road, and tried to walk through the woods to bypass the blockade.  Unfortunately, there was a barbed wire fence that prevented us from getting across.  Nevertheless, Chewie liked that hike.

From there, we went to Auditorium Shores.  We let Chewie run around and go swimming.  He seemed a bit worn out from the previous hike.  We stayed there for a while and then walked across the river to eat ice cream sandwiches at a placed called Baked Bear.

After that, we drove to Grandma and Papa's for the boys to finish the cleanup process in the backyard.

We rested at home for about 2 hours before we left, picked up Grandma and Papa and went to Lupe Tortilla for dinner.

We're home now and the boys are relaxing some.

Early Father's Day

This morning, Morry had an appointment to get travel vaccinations and then we took Chewie to the dog park.

I spent the afternoon getting the kids packed for camp.    We have just about everything we need set out, though I still need to label a few more things.

For dinner, we went to Fujiyama to celebrate Father's Day early.

We picked up Evan Lissoos on the way there.

We had a nice dinner.  The kids ate very well.

When we got home we took Chewie for a walk.

Now the kids are getting ready for bed.

No Baseball = Softball

All of the games were canceled today since we got a ton of rain yesterday.

We were able to sleep in a little and then we took Chewie to the dog park and for a walk around the lake.  He had a great time!

When we got home we left for my school's picnic/softball in the park.  Since there weren't any games today, Evan jumped at the mentioned of a softball game.

We had a nice time at the park.  We all played softball.  Of course, Evan played well, but Noah did very well too.

From there we went to PDQ.  I was invited to taste a new menu item and they paid for our dinner.  Good deal!

Now the kids are playing video games. There are no games tomorrow either.

Yesterday, we met the Williams and went downtown for barbecue.  We had lunch at Coopers and then walked around the lake and Auditorium Shores.  The city was setting up for the New Year's party, so we were able to hear some music of a band rehearsing.  It was a nice day.

At night, we met the Edwards at Alamo Drafthouse to see the movie, The Passengers.  We enjoyed that.  We got home around 11pm and Grandma and Papa came over to celebrate New Years.  They stayed until a little after midnight.

Today, we went to the Polar Bear Splash at Barton Springs.  We all jumped into the cold (68 degree) water.

In the afternoon, Aunt Sandy and Uncle Marvin had us all over for lunch.

We had a light dinner.

Now, the kids are getting ready for bed.

Fountain and a Birthday Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I was awakened at 7:05 by a little boy. As I opened my eyes, all I saw were lips puckered trying to kiss my face. It was Noah. I don't know if Evan was up as I just let Noah kiss me, rolled back over and went to sleep. Forty-five minutes later, Noah came in again because Evan had upset him somehow.

The boys played for a while in the game room before we got up. Finally we were able to roll out of bed and came downstairs.

We weren't sure what to do today, but we finally decided to go to the Liz Carpenter Fountain near Auditorium Shores which the kids can run in. We got breakfast ready for everyone, and jumped in the car and drove over.

The boys loved running through the fountain. They enjoyed standing over the water and letting it hit them in the tush. Evan told me he let one spray squirt him in the face and then said "Curse you, tiny toilet" which is a line from Despicable Me.

We came home and had lunch. For some reason, Evan started talking about Spaceballs and wanted to see that at his nap time. I told her what "barf" meant which is John Candy's character in Spaceballs. He thought that was really funny.

After "naps", quoted since neither boy slept, we went to Anna Belle's birthday party. Anna Belle is one of Evan's oldest friends, though they rarely see each other anymore. Rachel used to meet a group of women for coffee when Evan was a few months old and one was Anna Belle's mother. I go to the UT football games with Anna Belle's father, Will.

At the party, they had a clown/magician who was targeted at young kids. All the kids there seemed to really enjoy her. They served pizza and cake. They have a detached garage and a basketball hoop above the garage. Evan spent much of the party shooting baskets.

We came home and gave the kids baths and now they are in bed.
