Noon

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

While there was rain forecast for today, it seemed to miss us.  Noah had a field trip scheduled for today and it was a last minute call about whether they were going to go.

On the way back from dropping Noah off at school, we bumped into the dog from across the street, Nico.  Chewie had a good time playing with Nico for a little while.

I stayed home today and worked from home.

Tomorrow, I cannot get bagels with Rachel so I met her out for lunch by the Austin Tennis Academy.  We ate at a place called Noon Mediterranean. It was good and we had a nice time.

Noah told us he had a good time on his field trip when we picked up from school.

When Evan came home, I took him right to Cooper's house.  He was catching a ride with Cooper to practice.

Later I picked Evan up from Cooper's and we came home and made dinner.

Now I'm helping Evan with his homework.

Until next time...

Back to Blogging

I was having some issues with my computer and we have been busy, so the blog hasn't been updated in a while.

Evan was supposed to have a tournament last weekend, but it was rained out.

It was drizzling this morning so we drove Noah to school.

I went to my work and Morry went into the office.

I came home for a little while after work and then left for physical therapy.  From there I went to tutor.

While I was gone, Morry picked up Noah from school and then Noah went over to Grandma's house.

When Evan got home from school Morry took him to baseball practice.

I picked up Noah from Grandma and Papa's house around 7:30.

Evan and Morry got home around 8:00.

Now the boys are in bed.

Thunder

We drove Noah to school this morning since it was raining.

I went to my school and after had a meeting to help a neighbor with marketing their website.

Then, Morry and I went to lunch at Wholy Bagel.

Morry had a phone meeting this afternoon.

I drove to get Noah from school since it was still misty outside.

Shortly after Evan got home, I left to tutor.

Morry dropped Evan and Noah off at Evan's school's basketball game.   They sat with Evan's friends Reid and Carter, who go to the opposing school.

After the boys got home we ate dinner.

Now they are going to get ready for bed.

It's still raining and thundering right now.

More Rain

The forecast was for rain all day.  We decided to walk to school and take a chance of getting wet because Chewie really needs his walks.  We walked and although it wasn't the nicest weather, we avoided the rain.

I was at my school today and Morry went into the office.

Shortly after I got home, Morry came home.  I made the pizza dough for dinner and Morry walked with Chewie to get Noah.

Right after Evan got home from school I went tutor.

Evan was supposed to have practice today, but it was canceled.

For dinner, we had make-your-own pizza.  Everyone had their own individual pizza and put whatever toppings they wanted on them.  It worked out well.

Grandma and Papa came over after dinner.  They were in Seattle and just got back tonight.  They stopped by to get their mail from us.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Another Rainy Tuesday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rain was in the forecast for today, though it wasn't raining when we walked Noah to school.

After we got home, Rachel left to teach.  I worked from home for a little while.

I went into the office.  Then for lunch I met Daniel at Black's BBQ.  It was a nice time.  I really always enjoy spending time with Daniel.

By lunch, the rain had started.

After lunch, I went back to the office for a bit and then home to get Noah.

I drove with Chewie in the car to get Noah.

Evan's practice was cancelled for the third straight week because of rain.

For dinner we had breakfast tacos and waffles.

The boys are cleaning up.

Until next time...

At The Office

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today is President's Day so the boys didn't have school.  We did have a student-led parent teacher conference for Noah today.  Rachel, Noah and I went over to the school.  We talked with his teacher for a little bit and then Noah showed us his work.  After we looked at Noah's work, we spoke more with Noah's teacher.  She really loves him.  She said he's very helpful.  In fact, one day when they had indoor recess because of rain, Noah volunteered to help her rather than whatever recess activity they were doing.

After the conference, Evan, Noah and I went into the Touch To office.  Rachel went to school to teach.  The boys enjoy just being at the office.  They played on their iPad and phone.

For lunch we went to Popeye's since there is one down the street.  The boys really love Popeye's.

When we got home, Evan went outside and played basketball for a bit.

For dinner, we had leftover Chinese food from last night.

Rachel is now tutoring and the boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Almost Nick Foles

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This weekend was a very busy sports weekend.  Evan played four baseball games and two football games.  Yesterday, his games were at 12:30 and 2:15, so we were able to sleep in.

Rachel, Noah, and Aunt Susan came to the first game.  Evan played very well.  He doubled and walked.  He played first base the whole game and the coaches asked him to be a coach on the field.  It's so nice seeing him step up into that leadership role.

Noah stayed for the second game.  I was scoring the games and he was a really big help.  I hope he starts coming to more games and can help me out.  Evan played well in that game including crushing a ball with two outs and the game on the line.  The team ended up losing both games but Evan did his part to try and win.

From there, we stopped at Dick's Sporting Goods, and then met the Ramati's at the Moviehouse and Eatery to watch the Black Panther.

Rachel had what she hoped would be a relaxing evening at home, but Chewie was kind of wild so she didn't get to relax too much.

This morning, Evan and I left the house at 6:15 for his 8:30 game.  He again played well in the first game.  In the second game, he came into pitch after the first pitcher couldn't get an out.  Evan struck out the first batter on 3 pitches but then he lost the strike zone.  I've never seen him struggle so much pitching.  It wasn't that he was getting squeezed by the umpire, he just was overthrowing.  I felt so badly for him, but there was nothing I could do.  The team ended up winning and he came back into the game at catcher and played well.  He also walked and scored a run.  So he contributed.  It just wasn't up to his usual stuff.  He seemed unfazed and said the he was getting comfortable on the mound because it was muddy and he'd pitch well next time.

The game ran late so we were late getting to Evan's flag football game.  He got into the game right away and immediately started contributing.  If his team won the first game they'd be in the championship.  He had the craziest play in the game.  The opposing quarterback throw low and behind the receiver.  The ball seemed as it would just hit the ground and go incomplete but it hit the receiver's heel as he was running shooting the ball right into Evan's arms who ran the ball back for a pick six.  His team won and made it to the championship.

Just before the championship game, they found out the quarterback went home sick.  They turned to Evan to quarterback the game.  He hadn't really practiced the position and had never played it fully in a game before.  But he almost brought the team back to win.  They were down 20-7 at the half and Evan played his heart out in the second half.  He got really good at moving away from pressure, finding the open receiver and making a good throw.  I don't know what his completion percentage ended up being but it was high.  In the end, his big mistake was the difference.  He threw an interception in the team's own territory on a throw that was a little behind the receiver that led to the winning touchdown for the other team.  But he really played his heart out.  The coach actually gave him a hug at the end for playing so hard and really giving the team a chance to win.

After the game, Evan hadn't had enough and went outside to play with the neighborhood kids.

Rachel and I took Chewie to PetSmart to get food for him.  Then we picked up Chinese food for dinner

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

Our Valentine's Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Yesterday, Evan had baseball practice, so we were not able to have our traditional family Valentine's Day.  The last few years we've gone down, as a family, to South Congress.  We'll eat down there and we'll let the kids get $10 worth of candy at Big Top Candy Shop. But last night was like any other baseball practice night - a late dinner.

I worked from home all day today.  Rachel went to teach.  Then we met at Wholy Bagel for lunch.

After lunch, Rachel had a physical therapy appointment.

We walked to get Noah.  It was warm while we were walking.  It was well into the 70s today.

After I finished working, we all got in the car and went down to South Congress.  The boys were very excited.  They spent a long time trying to figure out what they wanted.

Then for dinner, we walked to Home Slice.  The boys played ping pong outside until the food came.

The boys are now playing with their instruments in my office.

Until next time...

Rain = No Baseball

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was raining when I got up this morning but it wasn't raining at the time we were going to take Noah.  But it still seemed like it might rain.  So we put Chewie in the car and drove Noah to the trail.  Just as we got home from driving, it began to rain again.  We were thankful that we didn't walk.

Rachel left to go teach.  I worked from home for much of the morning.  I did run into the office for a bit, but not for very long.

Rachel saw a sports doctor after teaching.  Her ankle and shoulder are still bothering her.  They want her to wear a new brace on her ankle and not do any exercise on it for several weeks.  For her shoulder, she can continue to go to physical therapy.

After that, she went to the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls lunch.

We drove to get Noah.  It was barely drizzling.  We brought Chewie in the car with us.  We dropped Noah off at Grandma and Papa's.

Rachel left to tutor shortly after we got home.

Evan came home and relaxed for a few minutes and then he started getting dressed for practice.  He was almost dressed when we got the email that practice was cancelled.

We made some small stuff for dinner and then we drove to pick Noah up.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

A new week

This morning it was about 30 degrees when we walked to school. There weren't many people outside.  Chewie liked the weather though.

I'm taking this month off from Camp Gladiator to rest my ankle and shoulder some.   So, I walked on the treadmill this morning.

Then, I went to my school.

Morry went into the office today.

We both got home around 2:30 and walked to get Noah from school.

My tutoring was moved to tomorrow, so I didn't have to be anywhere this afternoon.

Evan went over to Grandma and Papa's for dinner.

For our dinner, we had an Orange Chicken from HEB.

After dinner, we walked with Chewie to Grandma and Papa's house to get Evan.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Baseball is Back

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Baseball is back.  Evan is playing on both the "A" and "B" teams for TPRD.  This weekend, both teams are playing.  He was scheduled to play in 3 games today.  The first game time was at 8am.  That meant that I got up at 5:30 and I got Evan up 15 or 20 minutes later.  We went to Donut Taco Palace on the way to the fields.

In the first game, Evan started at catcher.  It only took until the second inning before he threw his first base stealer out.  That one was when the runner was trying to steal third.  He almost had another one at second.  He also led off the game hitting for his team.  It didn't go so well - he struck out - but it was an honor to be the lead off batter for the season.  In his second at-bat, he worked the count to 3-2 and then took a ball off his leg, just below his knee cap.  He acted like it was nothing, flipped the bat towards the dug out, and jogged to first.  Bases were loaded at the time so he drove in a run.  His friend Cooper was up next and Cooper hit his first career home run - a grand slam.  Evan was very excited for Cooper.  TRPD won the game.

The "B" team was up next but Evan caught the entire game and another player had to leave early so they gave Evan the game off.

In the third game (but Evan's second game), he was the starting pitcher.  Rachel came to watch Evan play.  He gave up one hit and some poor defense (including a failed pick-off move by Evan) resulted in 2 runs (the only runs he'd allow all day).  Nevertheless, he struck out two batters.  In the second inning, he struck out two more batters.  He made a nice defensive play in the third to field a comebacker and easily got out of that inning.  TRPD was leading 3-2 after Evan's three innings of pitching.  Unfortunately, his replacements did not fare as well and TRPD lost the game.

We came home and ate quickly.  Then Rachel, Noah and I went to a "Mardi Paws" parade.  It was a Mardi Gras parade put on by a local dog food company.  Rachel got invited as part of the blog.  We took Chewie.  He enjoyed seeing all the other dogs but it wasn't quite what we thought it would be.

We came home and relaxed for a bit and then went out and got dinner at Freebirds.

We're home now and the boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Poetry and Pies

This morning we walked Noah to school with Chewie.

Evan invited us to come to his Poetry and Pies party at school where the kids shared their poetry.  We went to his school but had to leave at 9:30, before Evan had read his poetry.    His teacher took video and sent it to us.

I went to my school and Morry was gone at meetings all day.

I got home just in time to pick up Noah from school.  I ended up driving so that Chewie could come along and wait in the car with me.

After Evan got home, Morry and Evan went to baseball practice.  They brought Chewie with them.

When they got home we made dinner - leftovers and pasta.

Now the kids are getting ready for bed.

Everyone's Busy

This morning we walked Noah to school.

I went to school and Morry had got a haircut and then had a meeting.

Shortly after we each got home we walked to pick up Noah.

Noah went to Grandma's right after school.

Around 5:15 I pickup up Lorena and she came with me to a blogger's event.  It was a hotel/shopping event. We got food and drinks at Sonesta in Bee Cave.  Then, they gave us the hotel tour.  After that, we got on their trolley and we toured a few different shops at the Hill Country Gallery.  At each shop, they had some kind of gift or swag for us.  It was a very nice event.

Evan and Morry went to baseball practice and then ate dinner at Mod Pizza.

We got home around 8:30.  Then, Morry walked with Chewie to pick up Noah.

Now the kids are in bed.

Super Bowl Sunday + Monday

Yesterday, we took it easy in the morning.   I took Chewie for a walk.

I left for tutoring around 12:45.

Evan had a football game, so Morry, Noah, and Evan left the house around 1:30 to get there for the practice before the game.

When I got home from tutoring, I rode with Grandma and Papa to Evan's game.

Evan's team lost their first game of the season.

Later in the day, Morry, Evan, and Noah went to a Super Bowl party at Evan's friend, Reid's house.

I stayed home and went to eat dinner at Maudie's with Grandma and Papa.

Today, we walked Chewie to school.

Morry and I were both gone today, so Chewie was in the crate for a few hours.

I got home a little bit before it was time to get Noah.

Morry got home a few minutes after I did and then we walked to pick up Noah from school.

Evan went to Grandma's house today for dinner.

For dinner Morry and I had sandwiches and Noah had a waffle.

Then, we walked to pick up Evan from Grandma and Papa's.

Now the boys are in bed.

On The Mend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel got up with Chewie this morning and fed him.  Noah stayed with Chewie downstairs in the morning and let us sleep in some.

Evan seemed to feel better this morning.  He wanted to eat and he said he felt mostly better.  He wasn't outside for 24 hours so I'm wondering how much was allergies.  We're having a particularly bad cedar season.

For lunch, we had leftovers from last night.

Noah went to Jude's house and spent the afternoon with him.

Evan and I watched the movie Logan and had popcorn.  Then we went outside and played basketball.  He said he needed to go out and do something.  He was getting stir crazy.

Brody came over after we finished basketball and he and Evan played outside together.

After picking Noah up, we decided to go to dinner at Deckhand.  It's a seafood place that we hadn't been to.  Everyone thought their food was good.

We stopped at HEB to get a few things on the way home.

Until next time...

Home Early From School

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan wasn't feeling well this morning but he didn't have a fever or anything so we sent him to school.

I worked from home for a while in the morning and then went into the Touch To office as someone from HomeAway was coming in for a meeting.  Rachel left to go teach.

I got a phone call towards the end of the meeting.  It was the school nurse.  She wanted to send Evan home.  He wasn't feeling well and didn't look well.  He still didn't have a fever.  I finished up the meeting and then drove and got Evan.

I tried to get Evan a doctor's appointment but the soonest I could get it was after 6pm.  I took the appointment and Evan laid down at home.  I had another meeting that I could call into.  When that meeting was over, I called a urgent care place and the could see Evan right away.

Rachel got home as I was about to take Evan.  She went and picked Noah up.

My big concern was that Evan had gotten the flu.  Obviously it's going around.  A boy from Evan's team got it.  So they tested Evan and luckily it came back negative.  They called in a prescription for Tamiflu in case Evan gets worse.  Hopefully he doesn't.

For dinner, we picked up Me Con Bistro and had it.  Evan didn't end up eating much.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Menu Tasting

This morning we walked with Chewie to school.

Shortly after we got home I left for school.

I met Morry for bagels and then had my physical therapy appointment.

I was invited to a menu tasting tonight at PDQ.  I thought I wouldn't be able to go because of tutoring, but both of my tutorings got canceled today.

So after the kids got home,  Morry and I went to PDQ for the menu tasting.

It was fun and the food was good.  I'd go back there.

Now the kids are getting ready for bed.
