Yesterday we had a busy day. Morry and I had two phone meetings with clients in the morning, then he had more meetings later in the day.
We were invited to Mandy's parent's house for Hanukkah so I was busy in the afternoon making Rice Crispy Treats and Brownies. We left around 5pm for the party.
We had a nice time with Aaron and Mandy's family, Lauren's family, and Grandma and Papa. Yesterday was also Grandma's birthday so we also celebrated her birthday last night.
Today, we went out to brunch for Grandma's birthday since we didn't get to go out yesterday. Noah, Evan, Grandma, Papa and I went to Snooze. It was very good.
Around 4:30 we all headed downtown for dinner and the Harlem Globetrotters. We ate at Blacks Barbecue near campus and then went to the Globetrotters. It was a nice evening.
This morning I made cranberry, blueberry, strawberry muffins. It was what we had in the house.Papa had a meeting to go to.We had breakfast with Grandma and then went to the zoo.
We all had a nice time. When we first got there we rode the train. Then, we fed some of the animals and walked around. We stopped at one point by the bear and monkeys to sit down and give the boys snacks.Evan walked the whole time.He was pretty worn out.
After the zoo we met Papa for lunch at Which Wich.Evan and Noah shared a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.Evan also had chips and a rice crispy treat that came with his kids meal.
After lunch we came home and put the boys down for naps.Grandma and Papa drove back to Dallas.
Evan and Noah took good naps. They had a big day.We wore them out.
When they woke up we got dinner ready. We made a pasta salad like thing with zucchini squash, corn, and chicken.
When I was cleaning up from dinner, the sink broke. It wouldn’t turn off.If I put the faucet in the off position the water was still running.Morry was able to get under the sink and adjust it a little. At least he got the water off, but we still need to get it fixed. We’ll have to call someone in the morning.
We just gave Evan and Noah baths and put them to bed.Evan started crying again after we left his room.I just went in there to calm him down.He now has almost every one of his stuffed animals in bed with him.I don’t know if he is scared and wants them in bed with him or he’s just stalling by asking us for more things.
Noah did it again. He was up the majority of the night. I don’t know what is going on. Morry and I both think his stomach is bothering him. We were so tired today.
We took Evan and Noah to see Madagascar 2 today. We went to the 11am show. Noah was a little cranky and slept on Morry some of the time. Evan did well and seemed to like the movie. Before the movie they showed a preview of Wall-E for the DVD and Evan got very excited.
After the movie we tried to put the boys down for a nap, but weren’t too successful. Noah maybe slept a few minutes, and Evan didn’t sleep at all.
While they were trying to nap I ran over to HEB to get some food for dinner. We invited the Podbers over.
I made spaghetti, zucchini, salad, roasted garlic and bread. For dessert I made chocolate chip meringue cookies and rice crispy treats. Evan had a good time playing with Ben and Molly. Noah was cranky for a lot of time. I think he was just over tired.
Well, we had a long day, I hope the boys sleep well tonight.
I drove Evan to school today and then Noah and I went to HEB to do a little grocery shopping. We needed a few things including a little more Halloween candy.
After HEB I did some cleaning around the house and laundry. I usually try to do laundry and light cleaning (vacuum, mop, straighten up) on Thursdays.
I walked to Evan’s school to pick him up. When I got there all the kids were sitting on the floor and they were doing “Going on a Bear Hunt”. Evan was following along and sitting nicely on the floor with the other kids until he saw me. Evan was excited to see Noah and me. We walked home and I put the boys down for a nap.
While they were napping I talked to Leah on the phone. I called to thank her for some gifts she sent us. One was a truck book that Evan has asked us to read over and over. We only got it a few days ago, but he already knows the book so well that we can leave out words and he’ll fill them in.
For dinner we had already cooked rotisserie chicken and matzoh ball soup. After dinner I made rice crispy treats. While they were cooling Evan enjoyed the little marshmallows. We let him have a couple. I think that was his first time eating a marshmallow. Evan said it was “kinda squishy”.
Not only is October tough because of all of the breast cancer awareness promotions, but it is also the anniversary of the beginning of my journey back in 2009.
Angelina says, "There is more than one way to deal with any health issue. The most important thing is to learn about the options and choose what is right for you personally." I appreciate Angelina Jolie and all of the others that have chosen to be open about their health and share personal details.
Shortly after I finished chemo, my feet started feeling like someone took a hammer to them. At first, I thought I had an injury or arthritis. I went to a podiatrist and a rheumatologist, but they couldn’t find anything noticeably wrong. My x-rays looked fine.
