Lizzy at the San Antonio Vet

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning Lizzy had an vet appointment with a vet in San Antonio.  Her normal vet said that her parathyroid was enlarged and she needed to see a specialist.  Deborah recommended a guy in San Antonio.  So we made an appointment for this morning.  Rachel and Evan left with Lizzy before 8am.  Noah stayed home with me.

The vet said that at least one of Lizzy's four parathyroid glands was enlarged and not working properly.  The ultrasound was not able to accurately show a second parathyroid so when the doctor gets in there to remove the first, he may have to remove a second.  He said he believes that Lizzy has had this problem for two years based on some of the numbers that our vet sent over.  Taking care of this now should allow Lizzy to start feeling better and live longer.  Her surgery is scheduled for August 12 and she'll have to stay there for a couple days.

At home, Noah and I ran some errands at lunch.  I picked up Wendy's for me and Subway for him on the way home.

I had a meeting at 3:30, so I left the house right before Rachel and Evan got home.  Then Rachel had to leave quickly after to take Lizzy to the regular vet to get a booster to a vaccine she got in June.  She dropped Evan off with Darius because they were invited to a birthday party.  Darius' mom drove them.

The party that Evan went to was at a place called Stunt Ranch.  They teach movie stunts there.  The boys did an obstacle course, went on a zip line and performed a stunt.  They had to run away from a car that "exploded" as they were running away.  Evan had a really good time.  Darius' mom dropped him at home afterwards.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Scooter to Starbucks

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning I left early to get some work done for HomeAway.  The boys were up when I left.

Rachel and the boys decided to go to Starbucks in the morning.  The boys rode their scooters while Rachel ran with them.  The entire round trip was 5 miles.  At Starbucks, they got some pastries and lemonade.  Then they walked over to HEB to see if Aunt Sandy was there.

They came home and had lunch.  Then Rachel dropped the boys off at Aaron's office and went to tutor.

After a couple hours I brought them home.  Rachel came home after stopping at HEB around 6pm.

We walked over to a neighbor's house who might watch Lizzy.  They have two dogs so we wanted the dogs to meet.  Lizzy got along well with one of the dogs.  The other dog was a little nervous about Lizzy around.

We came home and had dinner.

The boys are cleaning up and getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Stay at Home

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Evan slept in a bit later than he has the last couple weeks.  Noah was awakened when Evan went to let Lizzy out but I hadn't yet turned off the house alarm.

I went into Aaron's but everyone else stayed home today.  Deborah came at 11 to work with Lizzy.

In the afternoon, I came home and Evan was reading.  Noah was playing with Legos.

After finishing up work, I played wiffleball with Evan.

We had hamburgers cooked on the grill for dinner.  For dessert, we went to Sweet Caroline's.  When we came home, we took a short walk with Lizzy.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Bowling and Baseball

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We hired a tree service to trim all of our trees.  All of them needed to be trimmed.  Some of the ones closest to the house were scraping the gutters and roof so we needed to get them trimmed.  I wanted to wait until winter but when we saw the branches hit the house we knew we had to get it done sooner.  They came this morning at 9am to start trimming.

Rachel went for a run when she got up and then made the boys lunch.

Lorena and Owen invited Rachel, Evan and Noah to go bowling as well as the other boys in Noah's group of friends.  Evan invited his friend Josh from the baseball team.  They had to pick up Josh on the way to the bowling alley.  They all had a blast.  Rachel said all six boys got along really well.  Josh is going into fifth grade and Rachel said he was really good with the second graders.  Noah won the second game they bowled beating out Evan and Josh.  I think they used bumpers in the gutters but still, he won which is great.

Afterwards, Josh came home with them because Josh and Evan (and another boy, Jacob) had a baseball lesson with Coach Chris.  They worked on pitching.  Evan and Josh convinced Noah to come and watch, so he was out at the fields with us.

We came home and had leftovers again for dinner.

The boys are now in bed.

Until next time...

Goodbye Bunk Bed

This morning I ran and then went to tutor.  Morry took the boys with him to Aaron's office.

As I was leaving tutoring, Morry and the boys left Aaron's as well. They stopped for smoothies on the way home.

Evan went over to Jack's house at 2:00.  They mostly played inside, though they did swim a little bit.

For dinner we had leftovers.

Shayne came over to pick up the bunk bed.  Garrett is really excited about having his own big boy bed.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

The Movies

This morning, Grandma and Papa left early to go back to Dallas. They wanted to avoid the traffic.

Around noon we went to run a few errands and pick up Evan from Josh's house.  First, we picked up movie tickets for later in the day.  Then, we went to get Evan. From there, we stopped at Game Stop where Noah had a few more gift cards to spend.

This afternoon I met Deborah at Alamo Drafthouse to see Paper Towns while Morry and the boys went to see Pixels.

We had leftovers for dinner and then went for a walk.

Soon, the boys will get ready for bed.

Family Gathering

This morning Grandma and Papa went over to their new house to get some measurements.

Morry and Evan left around 12:30 to go play some baseball with some of Evan's teammates.

I went for a run.

This afternoon we got the house and food ready for later when everyone was to come over.

Jeremy, our cousin from Israel, is in town so we had a family gathering at our house.

Aunt Susan picked up Jeremy on the way to our house.  Uncle Jay, Aaron's family, and Lauren's family came to hang out.  We picked up food from Maudie's.  It was a nice night.

Evan got picked up to spend the night at a friends house.

Now, we are all getting ready for bed.

Here are some pictures.

No Bagels

This morning Morry had an appointment, so we were not able to get bagels.

Noah and I took a walk.

Morry got home a little bit before I needed to leave for tutoring.

I left to tutor and Morry took the kids to get lunch and to Best Buy.

Grandma and Papa got here around 4pm.

We met Jacob for dinner at Salvation Pizza.  We had a good time there.

We took a walk and Jack ended up walking/riding his scooter with us.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Swimming

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Things were finally back to normal this morning.  I got up and did some work.  Evan came down shortly after I got up.  Noah got up a bit after that.

Later in the morning I went into Aaron's for a bit so we could figure out what's next for Your Trainer.

The boys stayed at home while Rachel went for a run and they read.

I got home around lunch time.

In the afternoon, the boys played on their iPads for a while.  They went outside for a bit too. Around 3, Rachel took them to the pool to meet Lorena and Owen.  They stayed until around 5pm.

When they got home, we went to Target, Costco and CVS to get some things.

We ate leftovers for dinner and then took a walk.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Happy Birthday Rachel

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today is Rachel's 37th birthday.   Rachel got to pick out what she wanted to do.  She kept it pretty low-key.

In the  morning, I went into Aaron's for a bit until lunch. Rachel chose to go to Kerbey Lane for lunch.  She brought the boys and I met her there.  The boys ate well.  Rachel got lemon pancakes.  She left to go tutor and I brought the boys home.

The boys just played at the house in the afternoon until Rachel got home.  When Rachel got home, Evan, Rachel and Lizzy went for a walk.

For dinner, we went to the Melting Pot.  The boys again ate very very well.  They each had steak, salmon and shrimp.  The service was not as good as normal there.  But everyone had a good time.

The boys are now in bed.

Until next time...

Lots of Activities

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We were able to submit the Your Trainer app last night around 11pm.  It was good to finish that.  I had another deadline with Hey Cupcake today that I was able to finish up.  Because of that I stayed home most of the day.

Around 9:30, Wade's mom came and picked up Evan and Noah.  Wade invited the boys plus Nathan to go to Wazoo's which is a jumpy place.  After Wazoo's, they all went back to Wade's for a while.

Rachel went to Whole Foods for Pink Ribbon Cowgirls lunch.  It sounded like she had a good time. On her way home, she picked up the boys from Wade's.

I went to Hey Cupcake for a meeting in the afternoon.

Evan had a coaching session with Coach Chris today.  It was just him so they worked on hitting for more than an hour.  It went well.  As always, Evan was in a great mood afterwards.

For dinner we had a pork tenderloin that Rachel made in the crock pot.

We went to for a walk and now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Busy Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I had a busy day with Your Trainer.  We had a goal of submitting the latest version of the app to Apple today.  It started early and I left early to go into Aaron's to work on it.  Evan and Noah had just gotten up when I left the house.

Evan went for a run with Rachel today.  They started out walking fast and then they alternated running and walking.  Rachel said that Evan did well.

Rachel and Evan also worked on organizing his room.  There's still quite a bit of work to do but it looks much better.

Rachel used our new crock pot to make chicken meat for tacos.  That is what we had for dinner.  Both boys ate the chicken.  Noah ate it in the hard-shelled taco shell.  It was a good dinner for everyone.

We went for a walk after dinner.  We tried to do a little bit longer walk.  The boys rode their scooters.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Jeremy's Birthday Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, everyone got up a bit earlier.  When I got up, I did some work while the boys played.  When Rachel got up, we got ready to go to Jeremy's birthday party.

We were first to the party.  Eventually, Lauren and her family came as well as Aunt Susan and some other people.  Jeremy played with the boys the whole time.  In fact, they were so busy playing, they didn't eat lunch.

After the party, we came home and then Rachel took the boys to the pool.  After the pool the boys cleaned up.

For dinner, we had hamburgers and corn cooked on the grill.

On our walk, we walked by Grandma and Papa's new house.

The boys are about to go to bed now.

Until next time...

Walkie Talkies

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, everyone slept in.  I don't think any one of us got up before 9am which was nice.

When Rachel and I got going, the boys said they wanted to go Target and use the last of the gift certificates they got for their birthdays to buy Walkie Talkies.  Then they wanted to go to the Circle C Park to use them.  We put Lizzy in the car and drove to Target.  Lizzy and Rachel waited while the boys and I went in and got them.

We got to the park and walked on the trail.  Lizzy was especially happy to get out there and walk around.  When we got to the creek, we let Lizzy off the leash and she went in the water. We threw the ball to her some but she was just content to lay in the shallow water.  She was definitely a happy pooch.

After the park, we came home and had lunch.

The boys played upstairs for a while and then I made popcorn and we watched a movie.  I put on Grumpy Old Men for the boys.  They laughed quite a bit.  I remembered how good of a movie that is.

For dinner, we went to Texadelphia.  Both boys ate well.  Then we came home and took a walk.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Outdoors

The boys and I had a busy day today.

First, we went to someone's house to buy some books for the boys.  We have a neighborhood Facebook group where people post things they want to sell. This woman was selling a bunch of her sons books that he no longer reads.  The kids loved the house.  Not for the books, but for the animals.  She rescues animals, mostly cats.  There were quite a few cats walking around that the kids played with.  We picked out a few books and then left.

Next, we met Morry at Wholy Bagel.

From there, we went to Half Price Books.  I filled up 3 bags with our old books.  I wanted to see if we could get any money for them and the boys wanted to pick out some books too.  I ended get a little bit of money for our stuff.  The boys picked out a few Garfield and Calvin and Hobbes books.

Then, we went on a hike/swim.  We went to the Barton Creek Greenbelt.  It's a long system of various trails and the stream.  We walked about 1/2 mile to the stream, that was pretty full and busy.  The boys had a great time playing in the water and swinging off a rope.  Then we did a little more walking around and found a nice spot with a bridge/deck.  We hung out there for a little bit too.

We got home mid afternoon and both boys fell asleep. They almost never take naps.

We had to wake them up so we could pick up some dinner.

We go Subway for the boys and Via 313 pizza for us.

We ate at home and now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Here are some pictures from today.

Boys at the Office

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Both boys really slept in this morning.  It was good.  Noah slept until after 9 and Evan got up just before 10am.  I think it was really good for them.

Rachel went for a run and then came home and got ready to go to tutoring.  I need to go into Aaron's for Your Trainer stuff so I brought the boys with me.  It worked out well because today is Jeremy's 3rd birthday.  When we got to the house and we walked in Jeremy saw Evan and Noah and exclaimed, "Yay!!!! My cousins!" and then he immediately told them to follow him so he could show them some stuff.

I did some work and then the boys came back to the garage office.  Everyone, including Jeremy, walked to Nau's and we had lunch there.

We came home after lunch and Rachel was home by that time.

Deborah came over around 4pm to work with Lizzy some.

For dinner, we had leftovers.

We took a walk this evening.  It's good for all of us, including Lizzy who isn't walking to school right now.

The boys are about to go to bed.

aaUntil next time...

Locomotion

This morning I went for a short run.  When I got back I made an early lunch for the kids.  Our plan was to meet Owen and his mom for Starbucks then Locomotion at 12:15.

Evan invited his friends Wade and Nathan to come with us, so I picked them up on the way.

Lorena and I got our Starbucks drinks and then took the kids over to Locomotion, an indoor play/bouncy house place.  All of the kids had a good time.  We took a break in the middle to have some snacks (watermelon and juice) that I brought for the kids.

After Locomotion Wade and Nathan came over to our house for a little while.

Evan and Morry went to a baseball lesson at 6:30 and got home close to 9:00.  We had Coke ham and zucchini for dinner.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Swimming

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel had a busy day today.  She got up early to go for a run.  At 10:30 she left the house to go to tutoring.

I stayed home and worked while Rachel was gone.  The boys were pretty good and I didn't have to talk to them about behavior or fighting.  I did make them lunch.

Rachel tutored until after 1 and then went to HEB on the way home.

When she got home, I went into Your Trainer for a meeting.

Rachel signed the boys up for a semi-private swim lesson with a woman here in Circle C.  It's considered semi-private because there were two kids but really it was private to us.  Rachel said the woman was good and the boys enjoyed it.  I think we're going to continue to take the boys there.

For dinner, we had rotisserie chicken and roasted garlic that we put on fresh bread.

We went for a walk after dinner.

The boys will be going to be soon.

Until next time...

Back with Friends

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, I left close to 10 to go into Aaron's.  Rachel went for a run.  When she got back, she took Evan to Wade's house.  Yesterday, Evan went over Jack's.  It is good for him to be back with his friends.

Rachel and Noah walked around Lady Bird Lake after some resistance to getting out of the house.

Wade's mom dropped Evan off around 3pm.  I got home shortly after that.

For dinner, we just had pasta.

We went for a walk around the neighborhood.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Ikea

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

For most of the day, we didn't do anything.  We stayed in.  Rachel did go for a run.  The boys acted tired because we got in so late last night.  They didn't want to do anything. They simply wanted to take it easy.

Rachel and I have been wanting to go to Ikea and get stuff to clean up Evan and Noah's room, the game room, the laundry room and the garage.  We decided it might not be as crowded at Ikea if we got on a Saturday night before closing.

We drove up to Round Rock and first had dinner with Aunt Susan and Rudy's.  It was nice seeing her and the boys enjoyed her and the food.

Then we went over to Ikea.  We got there around 7 and it closed at 9.  Apparently two hours was not enough for what we wanted to do.  We didn't get anything for the garage or laundry room and we didn't get out of there until 9:30 as we were trying to get all of the stuff off the shelves in the self-service area even after closing time.   We did do pretty well.  We did see the stuff we wanted for the garage and laundry room so we can order it.

The boys got cinnamon rolls for dessert from the snack section at the end on the way home.

They are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Morry's Birthday

We really packed it in today.  Today was Morry's birthday.

This morning Noah had a birthday party of a friend of his.   The plan was for the 4 kids to meet at the birthday boy's house and then go to the movies (Minions Movie) together.

Evan and I dropped Noah off at his friends house at 9am and then we went to get some of Morry's favorite things.  We got a salt bagel from Wholy Bagel, a smoothie from Smoothie King, and cookies from Tiffs Treats.

We came home for a few minutes and gave Morry his gift and then we all went to The Minion Movie as well.

Noah's group sat a few rows behind us and seemed to be having a good time.  The movie was just ok, but the boys seemed to like it.

After the movies the birthday party group went back to the birthday boy's house for a little bit.

We came home and then a little while later I went to pick up Noah.  He had a lot of fun.

For dinner we ate at Genghis Grill.

After that we went on an Austin Ghost Tour.  I called a few days ago to make sure it was family friendly.  It was a combination of Austin history and mysterious stories.  The boys were really fascinated.  They had a great time.  After the tour we walked around downtown for just a little while.

We just got home and boys are in bed now.  It's been a long, but fun day.

Here are some pictures from today.

Noat at the ENT

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

When the dentist told us about Noah's enlarged tonsils, we made an appointment with the pediatric ENT doctor that the dentist recommended.  The first opening was today.  His appointment was at 10:45.

Rachel scheduled a meeting with a client at 9am at a coffee shop near Aaron's.  So all of us drove there and dropped Rachel off and then the boys worked at the office with me.  After Rachel was finished, I picked her up and we went to the appointment.

The ENT said that Noah's tonsils were "borderline" large.  She felt that if we told her that Noah was getting a lot of infections or that we heard his breathing stop like a sleep apnea at night then she might recommend that the tonsils be removed.  However, since Noah didn't have those things and particularly since it seems like the allergist was able to make the adenoids better then she felt like we should just wait and see for now.  She said since he has responded well to the Flonase we should keep doing that and if they swell in the winter more or he starts getting infections, we should bring him back in.  So all in all, it was good news.

We came home and the boys ate lunch.  Then Rachel went for a run.

For dinner we had cheesy foldovers.  Noah ate them but Evan did not.

Then we went for a nice walk.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Swimming, Tutoring, Costco Shopping

This morning we met Owen and his mom at the pool.  We stayed there for about 2 hours and ate our packed lunch there as well.  The boys had a good time.

We spent most of the afternoon at home.

I tutored from 5 -7 pm.

While I was gone Morry took the boys to Costco.  Evan and Noah ate dinner there.

When I got home Morry and I had leftover Sprite chicken from last night.

We went for a short walk.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Goodbye Christian and Connor

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Noah got up earlier that he has been.  He came in our room around 7am.  He had been sleeping until around 9am.  Evan got up closer to 9.

Our new mattress was scheduled to be delivered today.  So when Rachel and Evan got up, I brought Evan's mattresses downstairs to have them haul them away.  Then Rachel and I took our old mattress and moved them out of our room so they could put the new mattresses there.

I went into Your Trainer today as we had a team lunch and meeting.  It was a good and productive meeting.

When I came home, I stopped at Smoothie King to pick up smoothies for the boys and me.

When I got home, the moving vans were outside of Christian and Connor's house.  The new owners close on the house tomorrow.

Our mattress was delivered at 3pm.  They set up the new frame in Evan's room.  When they left we brought our old mattress into Evan's and got that set up and then we made our bed.

Evan and I went to work with a baseball coach at 6.  It went really well.  He was working with Evan and Josh on fielding.  Evan seemed to catch on to what the coach was teaching.  He made some really nice looking plays.

When we got home, Christian and Connor were at the house with Noah.  They came over so that their parents could focus on the move.  They stayed with us for dinner.  Now all four boys are playing.  Their parents should be picking them up soon.

Until next time...

A Little Bit Cranky

This morning I asked the boys if they wanted to go to the pool.  Evan said no right away.  He complained about his legs being sore from yesterday.

Around lunch time Owen's mom texted to see if we wanted to meet at the pool later.  Evan still didn't want to go, so she offered to just take Noah.    I helped get Noah ready for the pool and they came and picked him up.  They were at the pool for about 2 hours.

This afternoon both boys were somewhat cranky.   They complained when it was time to leave for dinner.

We had dinner at Aunt Sandy and Uncle Marvin's house.  Morry and I had a nice time, but the boys were still acting cranky and didn't eat very well.

When we got home we went on a short walk.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Game Truck

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We had another easy day.  The morning today was much like yesterday's morning.  Everyone slept in and we didn't really do anything in the morning.

When Rachel got up, she and Evan went on a two mile run.

When they got back they went to a party where the hosts had a game truck like we had at our house.  Evan and Noah had a good time there.  Noah's friend Owen was there as well.

The boys cleaned in the afternoon.

For dinner we just had pasta.

We took a walk after dinner.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Low-Key Fourth

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

All of us slept in to some degree today.  Rachel and Noah slept in the longest.

We thought we'd make waffles and pancakes for brunch and then go to the pool.  After we ate, the boys said they didn't want to go to the pool.

Nathan invited Evan to go to his house so he went down to Nathan's and was there until dinner time.

Rachel, Noah and I went to HEB to get some things for tonight and the week.  We saw Aunt Sandy there.

We took it easy in the afternoon.

For dinner, we grilled hamburgers, shrimp and corn.  I also made some garlic bread on the grill.  The boys ate very very well.

We went to Sweet Caroline's for dessert.

Until next time...

3rd of July

This morning we hung out at home and then went to Wholy Bagel for lunch.

Around 1:00 Uncle Marvin, Leah, and John came over.  Leah and John are in town for a few days. They all hung out at our house for a little while.

We ate dinner at home and then went to the potluck block party in our cul-de-sac.  We brought an American flag cookie cake that I made along with some other cookies and drinks.  We had a nice time hanging out with neighbors.  At 9:30 we were able to see the fireworks from the nearby golf course.   We stayed out until about 10:30.

The boys are in their rooms now ready for bed.

Swimming

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I went into Aaron's for a Your Trainer meeting in the morning but got home in time for Rachel to leave to go tutoring around lunch.

The boys were well behaved while I was working.

When Rachel got home, she took the boys to the pool.  They met Lorena and Owen there.  Evan and Noah saw two brothers there that are the same ages as them that they've played with before.  They played with a ball in the pool.  Rachel said they had a good time.

When they got home, Evan and I left for a baseball coaching session with that coach I met.  Josh and his dad met us.  The coach worked with them for a very long time which was nice.

Rachel made cookies for the block party tomorrow while we were gone.  The boys are decorating them now.

Until next time...

Fun Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning I got up before everyone and did some work.  Rachel got up shortly thereafter as she had a conference call.  I then left to go to HomeAway.

Rachel and the boys met Uncle Billy, Leslie and Aunt Susan for brunch at Magnolia Cafe.  They seemed to have a good time.

From there, Rachel and the boys walked around Lady Bird Lake.

After that, they met up with Lorena and Owen and went bowling.  They were able to get two games of bowling in.  And then the boys used gift certificates they had gotten for their birthday to get ice cream at Amy's Ice Cream.

When I got home, I took the boys to HEB to get some stuff.  Rachel stayed at home.

We had some leftovers for dinner and then took a walk.  We went by Grandma and Papa's new house.

Until next time...
