Games Cancelled

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I slept in this morning. I guess I was really tired as I got up around 10:30 and Rachel had just gotten back from a run.  The boys were playing some sort of game downstairs that they made up where they hit a ball with a stick.

Rachel got ready for a brunch with her friend Melissa.  I started getting things ready for the boys' baseball games.   Noah had a game at 2:15 and Evan had a game at 3:30.

Rachel came downstairs and we got the car packed because she and Noah are going to Dallas this week.  She was going to go to brunch, come over to the fields afterwards, and then take Noah from the fields.  However, just as she left, we got a message that the fields were too wet from yesterday and the games were cancelled.  Both boys were disappointed.

I got lunch for the boys, showered, and then had lunch for myself.

Shortly thereafter, Rachel came home and she and Noah left.

Evan and I watched some baseball and then went outside to play baseball.  We were briefly sent inside as it started to rain but it cleared up and we went back outside.

For dinner, we picked up McDonald's and got the move Pirates! A Band of Misfits from Redbox and watched that while we ate.

We talked with Rachel and Noah on Facetime before bed.

Evan is now in bed.

Until next time...

Movie Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan was scheduled to have a flag football game today, but it wasn't until 4pm.  The movie Hotel Transylvania came out yesterday and the boys have been looking forward to seeing it.  Since the game wasn't until later, I decided we could go see it this morning.  Also, I thought that would give Rachel a chance to sleep in when there weren't two boys running around the house.

The movie started at 10am.  Before we left, I got an email saying Evan's football game was cancelled due to the rain.   I think the rain also caused lots of people to go see the movie as well.  It was very crowded.  The boys enjoyed the movie.  Lots of fart jokes.  You just can't go wrong with fart jokes.

Evan was supposed to go over Jack's house after the movies.  Noah wanted to come too.  We weren't sure how that would go over so Rachel called Cole's mom to see if Cole could come over.  She preferred to have Noah over there.  Suddenly, Rachel and I found ourselves childless.  We decided to get lunch.  We didn't need anything fancy so we went to Bruegger's Bagels.  When we came home, we put stuff back in the attic that we hadn't sold in the garage sale.

Noah did not seem happy that he had to leave Cole's.  When we picked up Evan, Jack was literally hanging on Evan saying he didn't want Evan to go.  It's nice that the boys have such good friends.

For dinner, we just had leftovers.  After dinner Rachel made meringue cookies.

The boys are now in bed.  They were pretty tired.

Until next time...

Cole's Birthday

Noah was very excited this morning that it was Cole's birthday today.  He couldn't wait to get to school.

Morry and I dropped off Noah at school and ran a few errands.  We went to the bank, UPS store, and Smoothie King.

Noah was happy at pickup.  Cole's party was scheduled for 3:30 and Noah wanted to go right then.

We came home for a little bit.

I got Evan from school.  We came home and then left for Cole's party at Hoppin' House.

Evan was invited too and there were quite a few older siblings there for Evan to play with.  He already knew some of them.

Both Evan and Noah had a lot of fun. They were running around the whole time.

We came home and Morry made pizza for dinner.

It started to rain.  Evan's supposed to have a football game tomorrow afternoon so we'll see what happens.

Morry is reading to the boys now.

Busy Sports Day

Noah had his gymnastics class at 11:45.  He had a good time.

We came home and I got ready for a meeting.  I had an MB Squared meeting with a potential client at 2pm.

Morry and Noah picked up Evan from school.

Around 5pm Morry took the boys to Noah's baseball practice.  Evan helped during the practice.  He really liked that the coach asked him to help out.  I met Morry and the boys there and then took Evan to his football practice.  Evan ate some of his packed dinner in the car on the short ride to practice.

Morry and Noah got to Evan's practice a little after 6:30 and Noah at his dinner there at the picnic table.

Both boys did well at their practice.

On the way home Morry picked up Blue Bamboo for us.

Once the boys were in bed we ate our dinner.

It was a busy evening, but both boys are asleep now.

Burgers

This morning I went for a run and then took Noah to school.  From there, I had an appointment with my rheumatologist.

I took it easy at home until it was time to get Noah from school.

Noah had a good at school.

I left to tutor and Morry took Noah to get Evan from school.

Gabby came over.

When I got home Morry was getting dinner ready.  We had burgers (hamburger/veggie burger) for dinner.

We just worked on homework.  The boys are ready for bed, but not asleep yet.

Our Tuesday

This morning Evan was up super early, at 5:45am.  He came downstairs and played wii until it was time for school.

Noah woke up around 9am.   I wanted to take a walk at the lake, but he didn't want that and I didn't feel like fighting.  Instead we walked around the block.  Noah talked the whole time, like usual.

Around noon Cole came over.  Noah and Cole play so well together.  They had lots of fun.

I got Evan from school.

Blanca came over and I left to tutor.

When I got home Morry and the boys were doing Face Time with Grandma and Papa.

For dinner we had an asian frozen dinner.

The boys are in the shower now and then we'll get them ready for bed.

Busy Monday

For some reason, Noah was in a bad mood this morning.  He didn't want to go to school and he didn't want to get dressed.  He finally let Morry get him dressed. Both Morry and I took him to school.

I did some cleaning today and some MB Squared work.

I got Noah at school and his teachers said he had a good day.

Morry had an appointment with the sleep doctor and he wasn't sure if he'd make it back in time to pick up Evan from school. I had Gabby come over early just in case.

Morry got done in time and was able to get Evan.

The boys had fun with Gabby while I was gone tutoring.

When I got home we ate dinner (leftover pizza) and then Morry and Evan went to baseball practice.

Noah and I went to HEB.

The boys are in bed now. I hope they go to sleep soon.

Lots of Baseball

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Both Rachel and I slept in this morning.  We knew it was going to be a long afternoon so we relaxed in the morning.  We didn't really do anything until it was time to leave for Noah's baseball game at 2:30.

Noah's game was at 3:30pm and Evan's game was at 4:45pm.  Noah had to be there for warm ups at 2:50.  Evan had to be at his field for warm ups at 3:45pm.  During warm ups, Noah hit well.  Jack and Evan had a catch while Rachel and Noah had a catch.  As soon as the previous game was over, we went onto the field.  Evan sat in the dugout for a bit.

Noah's team started out in the field.  Noah started at second base.  The very first hit went right to Noah. He bobbled it a bit so he didn't have time to make a throw but he prevented the runner from advancing. A couple batters later and there was someone on first and the ball was hit towards Noah.  He knew he was supposed to touch second.  The only problem was as soon as the ball was hit he ran to second - without the ball.  It's ok.  He was very cute.  I took a quick break to run Evan over to his field and came back in time to see Noah bat.  He got a hit and ended up coming around to score.  He played the 4th inning at 2nd base again.  He didn't get anyone out but he played well.  His second at-bat he got a hit.  The next kid hit it into the outfield so Noah got to 3rd.  He was running well.  He scored on the next hit.  He seemed really happy.

Noah got his snack after the game and we went over to Evan's field.  Evan was in line for the batting cages so we talked to him some.  Evan was playing Miles' team.  The game started about 20 minutes late.  One of the coaches wasn't there so they asked me to be 3rd base coach.  Evan stated the game at third.  He fielded one ball but there was no throw.  In the bottom of the first, Evan had a clean single to left field.  Evan returned to third base for the 4th and 5th innings.  Several of you who read this blog have joked about my play-by-play, so here's another one.  So in the bottom of the 4th, Evan came up with the bases loaded.  Evan's team had the lead but not by much.  They needed a few runs to render the 5th inning a moot point.  There were two outs.  I have to say, I was nervous.  Evan swung hard at the first pitch but missed.  The second pitch he took.  He fouled off the third pitch for a second strike.  The fourth pitch was inside and Evan moved out of the way.  After that Evan dug in for the fifth pitch.  The crowd was quiet.  The pitch came in and Evan swung hard lining a ball into left field for a two-run single essentially sealing the game.  You can call Evan, Mr. Clutch.  It was really a good at-bat.  He finished the game 2 for 3 (he struck out in the third).  I also failed the mention that with a good bit of hustle he avoided getting thrown out at second in the first inning when it was a simple force play.

Overall, it was a good day of baseball, but very very long.

We stopped at Austin Pizza Garden on the way home to get food.

We ate dinner and the boys got ready for bed so we could watch some of the Steelers game I recorded. I put the boys to bed at "halftime".  Unfortunately, the last time I put them to bed at halftime the Steelers lost.  I think I have to stop doing that.

Below are some pictures of the boys in their uniforms.

Until next time...

Evan's Football

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today Evan had his first football game of the season.  On Thursday after practice, the coach went to pick up the team's jerseys.  Somehow the league messed up and despite listing on the schedule and telling the coach that the team was the Steelers, the jerseys were the Tampa Bay Bucs. So Evan's team is now the Bucs.

Evan and I left the house first as he had to get there 45 minutes before the game.  His team had a little practice time before his game.  As the game was about to start, I got a text message from Rachel.  I guess Noah was throwing a fit because Rachel had to wake him up to come to the game.  He was still in his pajamas while she's was driving.  When they got there, she got him dressed, but even as they got to the seats, Noah was still whining and crying.  Rachel ended up taking him away for a bit.

But Rachel was there long enough to see Evan line up at wide receiver.  The play called for him to come around and get the ball on an end-around.  He ended up grabbing a ball and not going behind the quarterback but turning up field there.  He raced around all the kids and broke free.  A kid ended up catching him and pulling his flag, though I'm not sure if he scored a touchdown or not.  I didn't think he did, but he said the coach said he did score.  So I don't know.  But it was a great run nonetheless.

Unfortunately, that was about the highlight of the game.  The other team scored every single time they touched the ball on the first play of each series except for one - when Evan went into the backfield and pulled the running back's flag before he had a chance to run.

After that we came home and the boys played some and then cleaned up in their rooms and the game room.

Since Evan was a bit cranky yesterday afternoon and Noah was cranky this morning, we decided we'd just stay home today.  The boys also played in the backyard some.

For dinner, we went to the Olive Garden for their Never-Ending Pasta Bowl.  Both boys ate very well and they were excellently behaved.

They had showers tonight.  Evan is now washing himself.  And now they are in bed.

Until next time...

New Phones

After taking Evan to school Morry spent the rest of the day at home because he didn't want to miss the phone delivery.  We pre-ordered iphones and the were scheduled to arrive today.

I took Noah to school and went for a run.

I also went to a Pink Ribbon Cowgirl lunch at Central Market.

I picked up Noah on the way home.

We got our phone around 2pm.

I rode the bike to get Evan.

Jack came over for a little bit this afternoon.

We gave the boys an early dinner and then took them to the Little Gym for a Parent's Survival Night.   Morry and I went out to dinner at Cafe Blue and walked around the shopping center.

We picked the boys up at 9:45.  They seemed tired, but had a good time.

Morry is reading to Evan and Noah now.

4.5

Today is Noah's half birthday.  He made sure to tell me first thing this morning.  Noah is now 4 1/2.   It's hard to believe he will be 5 in six months.

Noah went with Morry to take Evan to school.

Noah and I took a short walk around the neighborhood and did some reading together.

Noah had his gymnastics class today.  He had a good time.

For lunch, we picked up bagels from Wholly Bagel.

Noah came with me to pick up Evan from school.

Both boys had practices today.  First we went to Noah's baseball practice from 5:30pm - 6:30pm.  A little before 6pm Morry took Evan to his football practice scheduled for 6pm - 7:20pm.   After Noah's practice we went to Evan's practice.  For dinner, I packed food for the boys.  Evan ate during Noah's practice and Noah ate during Evan's practice.  It took some coordinating to figure out this schedule.

We just got home.  Morry and my corned beef is in the the crock pot.  The potatoes are in the oven.  We'll put the boys to bed and then eat our dinner.

Hightlights and Air Conditioning

Noah came in bed with us again during the night.  He does this a couple of times a month or so.  He said he was scared.

Noah was up early this morning and went with Morry and Evan to Evan's school.

We had a few things that needed to get fixed on or air conditioner so they came out today to get those done.

After I dropped Noah off at his school I went back to the salon from last week to get highlights done on my hair.  They were good, but it took a really long time.  I was worried I wouldn't be able to pick up Noah.  I got done just in time to get to Noah's school.

Noah was having a butterfly painted on his face when I got there. He seemed happy.

Morry took Noah to pick up Evan since I had to tutor.

Gabby came over.

I got home around 6:30 and made Tortilla Espanola/Frittata.

Morry's getting the boys ready for bed now.

Hanging out with Noah

Normally Noah and Cole spend Tuesdays together, but Cole's family had relatives in town.

Noah and I met Evan at lunch.  Evan's lunch is early.  It starts at 10:51.  We surpised Evan.  I didn't tell him we'd be coming. He was excited to see us.  It was very loud in the cafeteria. Noah made a comment about how loud it was.

After lunch at Evan's school, Noah and I went to HEB.

I rode the bike to get Evan at school.

Blanca came at 3:45 and I left to tutor.

When I got home we started making dinner.  We had turkey tacos.

While Evan did homework Noah read to me from that book set.  When Evan finished his homework Noah read one of the books to Evan.

The boys are ready for bed and in their rooms now.

School and Evan's Baseball Practice

Morry drove Evan to school today even though it wasn't raining.  He was worried the path would be soggy and dangerous for bike riding.

Morry and I dropped Noah off at school and then took the leftover garage sale items to Goodwill.

Both boys had a good day at school.  We got Noah and dropped off some letters at the post office.  Later, I drove to get Evan from school.

My tutoring was canceled today.  The kid was sick.

We had crockpot chicken at home for dinner and then Morry took Evan to baseball practice.

While Morry and Evan were gone Noah and I had fun hanging out at home.  Noah read some books to me.  I got these beginner books /early reader set from the garage sale.  There are small story books that work on different letter sounds. The books have questions at the end and the kid can put a sticker in the book when they have read the book on their own.  Noah was very into it.  He kept wanting to read more.  He ended up doing 4 of the books with me.  He read one of those to Morry when they came home.

Evan was pretty tired when he got home from practice around 9.  He did his homework and now he's in bed.  I'm going to tuck Noah in now.

Rained Out

This morning we woke up to rain.

We hung out at home and then around noon went to the secondhand store to sell some of the garage sale items.

We had to unload the car in the pouring rain.  They said they'd call us in about 2-3 hours when they had a price for us.

On the way home we stopped at Petco and ULTA.

Noah was supposed to have a baseball game today, but it was canceled because of the rain.

Morry watched the Steelers game and I had a phone meeting.

Around 4:30, we had still not heard from the store so I called them.  They said the stuff was ready. I guess they just forgot to call us.  I had to go over there by myself since the game was still on.

They took some items and gave me a check for $43 something made out to the dad in the family that the garage sale was for. I'll send him the check.   There was still quite a lot that they didn't take so I had to put those in the car.  I asked for help since it was raining out.

For dinner we had  a frozen PF Changs dinner.

The boys are just about ready for bed.

Evan

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The day today seemed to be about Evan.  It started around 6am.  I was sleeping and I woke up to "Daddy, Daddy".  Evan was standing next to me at the bed.  He wanted to tell me he lost his 4th tooth. I think he woke up and it was about to come out so he pulled it out.

Rachel got up shortly after.  The Pink Ribbon Cowgirls were putting on a group garage sale to benefit the family of the woman who died a few months ago.  Since we hadn't sold everything, Rachel wanted to go bring some of the stuff over to donate and help out a bit.  She left the house around 7:30am.

I got up around 8:30 and got ready to take Evan to his first flag football practice of the season.  Noah got up around 9.  I got the boys ready and we left.  Evan seemed to really enjoy playing.  The boys all seemed nice, as did the parents.  The don't have the team name yet, but it appears it may be the Steelers.  Evan is very excited (so am I).

The practice lasted nearly an hour and a half. We came home after it and Rachel had lunch ready.  We all ate.  Rachel laid down for a nap while I did some work and the boys played on the Wii.  It's pretty muddy in our backyard from the rain we've been having.

At 4:00, I got Evan ready for his baseball game.  Noah and Rachel left to go help clean up from that garage sale.  They offered to pick up the leftover kids stuff.  Tomorrow we'll bring it to a second hand store and sell it and give the money to the family.

Evan had an absolutely great game today.  I guess having the practice in the morning didn't wear him out.  It started out when he was playing in left center.  The ball was hit to the fence.  He ran out and from the fence, threw over second base almost to the pitcher on the fly.  The pitcher grabbed it and it held the hitter to a triple.  In the bottom of the inning he got a solid hit which stayed in the infield but it was to deep short so the shortstop had no play.  In the top of the next inning, Evan was playing second.  He fielded a ground ball and fired a bullet to first for the out.  He almost got another out as he charged a short fly ball that the pitcher almost got and picked up and threw to first.  The next at bat he really hit a a long fly ball.  Unfortunately, the other team had their best fielder in left center and he caught the ball.  The bases were loaded at the time.  It would have cleared the bases.  His final at bat, he smacked a line drive that went between short and third and rolled to the fence for a double.  He seemed to really have a good time.

From baseball, we went to Cafe Express for dinner.  The boys ate ok there.

We're home now and the boys went quickly to bed.  I think they may already be asleep.

Until next time...

Oil Change

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning when I got up, I could hear the rain.  I knew that Evan and I would not be riding bikes to school.  He finished his breakfast quickly and I drove him to school.  I wanted to leave somewhat early so that I could avoid the big line of cars.  We were one of the first to get to school.  I waited with Evan some as I wanted to make sure there were more kids in the cafeteria when I left.

Ironically, this is the third Friday of the school year and it rained.  Last year, the first time we had to deal with the rain going to school was December 1.

I got home, and pre-ordered the new iPhones for Rachel and me.  We haven't gotten new phones in 3 years.  It was time.

Rachel and I agreed to drop her car off for an oil change.  We had gotten a special discount card at a place on Groupon.  It was something like $33 for a punch card that got you three oil changes, two tire rotations, and a few other things.  Because it was a good deal, they wouldn't do the oil change while you waited.  So we dropped her car off after taking Noah to school.

We stopped at Smoothie King on the way home.  They love me there.

Both Rachel and I went to pick up Noah since her car was not ready yet.  Noah was in a great mood when we got him.  It's amazing the difference in the classroom from last year to this year.

By the time we had to get Evan, we still had not heard about the car.  They said they'd call us.  So we drove and picked up Evan.  It had stopped raining at this point so that we walked the path.  Evan and Jack raced up the path on the way back while Noah stayed closer to us.

When we got home, we decided to check on the car.  It turns out it was ready.  So we drove over and got it.

Before dinner we stopped at the bank to deposit some checks and then ran to HEB.  We ended up picking up dinner for Rachel and me at Hula Hut.  We just made food for the boys.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

School Open House and Rain

This morning I went for a short run.

At 11:45 Noah had his gym class.  He had a lot of fun in there like always.

We ate lunch at home and a little while later it was time to get Evan.

It was raining on and off today, but it wasn't raining at the time I needed to leave.  Evan rode his bike to school so it would have been easier just to ride bikes to pick him up.  Noah and I went together on the bike and it started misting a little.  While we were on our way home it was threatening to rain.  We heard thunder off in the distance and I was a little worried we wouldn't make it home in time.  We rode our bikes pretty fast and did get home before the rain started again.

Evan and Noah were supposed to have tball and flag football practice today, but those practices got canceled.  Cole's mom offered to watch the boys while we went to the Open House at Evan's school.

We dropped the boys off at Cole's and then went to Evan's school.  We really like Evan's teacher and were impressed with what she had to say.

We picked up the boys from Cole's and then picked up pizza from Z Pizza.  We ate at home.  Evan did his homework, and now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Lots of Work

After dropping off Noah at school I went to a market research study I signed up for.  It was about banking and was only an hour.  It paid well. I got $215 for just an hour of my time.  Good deal!

From there I went to a running store to get new shoes.

I had lunch at home and then picked up Noah.  We hurried through HEB and barely made it home in time for Morry to go pick up Evan.  He took Noah with him and I left to tutor.

Gabby came over.

I tutored 3.5 hours today and got home around 7pm.  Morry had fed the boys dinner already.  We had burgers (veggie for me) and pasta for dinner.

Noah helped quiz Evan on his spelling words tonight.  Noah had fun reading off the sheet and asking Evan how to spell words.

After the homework was done we were sitting around the table and Morry coughed a few times.  Evan then called Morry "Mr. Kaufman."  It was pretty funny.  I think he just made that up on the spot.

The boys are in bed now, but not asleep.

Back to Exercising

This morning I tried running for the first time in weeks.  I only did 2 miles, and it was tough, but I was able to run the whole thing.

Noah and I went to the Wildflower Park for a little bit and he ate his lunch there.  Then, we went to Cole's house for a playdate.

While Noah was at Cole's I went to a lunch for the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls at Whole Foods.

I picked up Noah and we came home for a little bit.

Then, I took Noah with me on the bike to pick Evan up from school.

When we got home our neighbor Gayle and her girls had just gotten home.  We went over there to talk for a little bit.  The kids had fun playing together.

I got ready for tutoring.  Blanca came over and I left.

While I was gone and after Blanca left, Morry took the boys outside for a little while.

On my way home I stopped at Office Depot and Target.

For dinner we had Sprite Chicken, which Evan ate a lot of. We also had couscous.

The boys are ready for bed now, but not asleep.

My New Do

This morning I had a hair appointment at 8am.  I had to leave the house around 7:15 so Morry took Noah with him when he took Evan to school.

A fancy salon here in Austin at the Four Seasons was looking for hair models for a training session they were having.  I sent in my info and they picked me.  It wasn't a student haircut.  The guy presenting the class needed 2 models to demonstrate different types of haircuts.  They wanted people willing to try a new style.  I was a little nervous, but knew that no matter what the hair would grow back.  There was a lot of waiting around and I didn't end up leaving until almost 1pm.  Below are some pictures of my haircut.  They only did the cut today.  I go back next week for color.

I came home for a few minutes and then left again to get Noah from school.  I had just enough time to eat lunch and then I needed to leave again for tutoring.

Morry took Noah to pick up Evan from school and then Gabby came over to babysit.

When I got home I helped Evan with homework while Morry made an early dinner.

We went to Evan's baseball practice at 6:30.  Noah and I stayed about 30 minutes.  On our way home we stopped at Office Depot.  When we got home we took a walk.  Noah talked the whole time.

Morry and Evan are still at baseball practice.  Evan will have baseball practice every Monday from 6:30 - 8:30.

Another Day of Baseball

This morning we had a brunch to go to.  It was a birthday party for Bobbie Nehman, a friend from Dallas who knows my parents and knew Grandma.  The party was at her daughter's house.  They have a boy Noah's age.  The kids had fun playing together.  Evan and Noah spent a lot of time playing in their backyard.  They had lots of sports toys out there.

We came home and got ready for Noah's game.  Morry took the  boys early for Noah's practice.  I had a phone meeting.

When I got there right as the game was starting, Evan was acting really cranky.  In fact, Evan was cranky most of the game.  He wanted to be right next to Morry helping, but he was getting in the way and it was dangerous for him to be standing there.  He got really upset when we told him he had to sit with me behind the fence.

Noah had a great game.  He made it to first base with each hit and eventually made it all the way home to score.  When he was playing 3rd base the ball rolled right to him.  He picked up and made it to the base in time to get the runner out.  It was a great play.

Morry took the boys home and I went to tutor.

On my way home I picked up Popeye's for Morry and Panera for me.  Morry made the boys dinner at home.

The Steelers game in on now.  Morry and Evan are downstairs.  Noah is playing in the game room.

Here are some pics and video from today.

Coach Pitch

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel and I slept in a bit today.  Even though it was a 4-day week, it seemed to be packed and we were both tired.  The boys were well behaved and let us sleep (or at least lay there)

When we did get up, we had some errands to run.  We need to get Noah cleats for tomorrow and we needed to return some things.  We went to Academy to get Noah cleats.  He whined a bunch.  He was upset because he wanted me to carry him into the place.  He was happy with his cleats.  Rachel then ran into Old Navy and Kohl's to return some things.

We came home and had lunch.  It seemed that there was not much time before I had to take Evan to his game.  They practice for an hour before the game.  The complex where Evan plays has several batting cages so they had batting practice and then fielding practice.  Noah insisted on coming.

Evan was so excited for the game to start.  He started out in Left Center Field and then moved to Second Base.  He struck out his first time up.  I was not happy with the umpire as one of the "swings" was a checked swing.  I was literally about 3 feet on the other side of the fence from the umpire but I managed to not say anything.  Then I went to talk to Evan and Evan very matter-of-factly said "The ump made a bad call."  He didn't seem upset by it at all.  The next time up, he took three pitches and didn't swing and then got a hit.  In the 4th inning while playing second, he got pop up that the shortstop had missed and touched second to get a kid out.  He was so excited he was jumping up and down holding the ball.  In his third at-bat, he also struck out, though with two really great swings.  It'll come.  His coach came up to me unsolicited to tell me what a "cool kid" Evan was.  He just loved Evan's enthusiasm and hustle.  He said he's a joy to have on the team.

From there, we went to Verde's where we met Jack's family.  It was a really nice night out and all four kids - Jack and Evan, Noah, and Jack's sister Audrey all played out on the field adjacent to the patio where we were seated.  It was really nice and we could talk with the adults.  The kids all enjoyed themselves.

We came home and the boys had showers and they are now in bed.

Until next time...

Active Afternoon

After dropping of Noah at school Morry and I had a meeting with Noah's therapist.  She was pleased to hear Noah is doing a lot better.

When we came home I rested.  I've been really tired lately.  I think I'm just still recovering from the pneumonia.  My blood test was fine at my check up last week and the doctor said it could take a few weeks to feel betters.

I got Noah from school and we got a few things at HEB.

When I got home it was time to get Evan, but I was feeling really tired so Morry went to get Evan.  I wasn't sure I could/should ride the bike since I wasn't feeling so well.

When they got home Jack was with them.  Jack's dad asked if Jack could come over since his sister was sick.  Evan, Noah, and Jack had fun playing together.  Jack left around 4:45.

We went to this open house thing at the Little Gym.  They had some various games and activities going on for the kids.  Noah's friend Cole and his family was there.

We went to dinner at Cypress Grill.

On the way home we stopped at ULTA.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Baseball Brothers

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, as normal, Evan ate breakfast while watching "Quick Hits" on the MLB channel.  Think SportsCenter but completely about baseball.  As we were leaving, Noah got up. He wanted to come with us but we were running a bit late - Evan was moving slowly.  We didn't have time to get Noah dressed and ready to get on the back of the bike.  He was very upset.

When I got home, he was still upset.  I ended up clearing a space for him at my desk and he ate his breakfast while I did some work sitting next to me.  That made him happy.

Noah had gymnastics yesterday.  His buddy Cole wouldn't go into the class until Noah got there.  They really are good for each other.

We stopped at Target on the way home to get a few things.

When we got home, Rachel made Noah lunch.  Then she picked Evan up from school.  Rachel called the hair cut place, Cool Cuts 4 Kids, and they said they could get them in right away.  She drove the boys over there.  Basically they lied.  It took so long that Rachel wasn't going to make it home in time with the boys for their respective baseball practices.  I thew their bat bags and waters in the car and met Rachel at Noah's practice.  I gave Evan's stuff to Rachel, as well as a chair to sit in.  Then Rachel took Evan to his practice.

The coach came over to tell me how well Noah did at his first practice.  He said he only had to tell Noah things one time and he would do them.  He liked how focused Noah was and how he hustled.  I was really excited to see him out there playing.  At this practice he did really well.  He seems to understand baseball and he tried to do the right thing.  He played second base quite a bit and I only had to tell him about covering the base one time and he did it every time after that.  At one point the shortstop got him the ball and Noah spun and threw to first as if he were trying for a double play.  It was great.

After practice, we drove over to Evan's practice.  As we walked up, we saw Evan playing second base.  A ball was hit into the outfield and Evan covered the bag.  A coach in the outfield threw the ball to Evan who made a nice catch.  I heard that coach turn the other coach and say "That Evan is a monster."

Both boys were super hyper after practice.  I think they both really enjoy playing baseball.  Both boys are excited to watch each other in their games this weekend.

We came home, had a late dinner.  While we got dinner ready, Evan did his homework.

The baseball brothers are in bed.  I think they are going to sleep pretty quickly tonight.

Until next time...

Meeting and Tutoring

This morning, like usual, Morry took Evan to school.

After I dropped of Noah, Morry and I went to a meeting at a coffee shop.   From there we got lunch on campus at Verts Kebap.   We had a Groupon we needed to use.  Then, we went to a shoe place so I could get fitted for custom orthotics.

We got home and then I left to pick up Noah.

Morry and Noah got Evan at school.  I left to tutor.  Gabby came at 3:15.

I got home around 6:30.  Morry had made fried matzoh.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Two Baseball Players

While Evan was in school, Cole came over to play with Noah.  The boys had a lot of fun together.

Noah stayed at home while I got Evan at school.  Evan had a great day at school.  He wore his Steelers shirt and his teacher said she was also a Steelers fan.

Blanca came over and I tutored.

The boys had baseball practice at the exact same time today while I was tutoring.   Morry dropped Noah off a little early and then took Evan to practice.  After my tutoring I came to Noah's practice.

Both boys did very well at baseball practice.  Noah tried hard, listened, and hustled.  Morry told me the coaches were impressed with Evan.  Evan did very well too.

For dinner we all had leftovers.

I had a phone meeting at 8:30 and Morry got the boys ready for bed.

Evan is sitting with me right now reading the blog as I write. I asked Evan if he wanted to say anything and he said no.

Noah just came in.  Noah wants to say Evan played coached pitch the first time and Noah played tball for the first time.

Now, I need to get the boys to go back to bed.

Labor Day

Last night Noah was up a few times crying.  Both Morry and I had to go in there.  I'm not sure what his deal was.  He asked if Mottel was locked in the laundry room, which he was.  Maybe Noah had a bad dream about Mottel?

We had our neighbors (Kevin, Gayle, Brynn, and Naomi) over for lunch.  Their girls are 5 and 3.  Noah played with the girls a lot.  Evan played some, but did his own thing.  For lunch we made flank steak, corn on the cob, veggies, and merenge cookies.  Kevin and Gayle brought chips and fruit. It was nice and we had fun.

In the afternoon, I left to tutor 2 students and Morry took the boys to buy baseball bats.

For dinner we had leftovers from last night's dinner.

The boys also had clean up night.

Evan read all of Chika Chika Boom Boom to us tonight.

The boys are in bed now.

Recovering

Noah came in our room early this morning and wanted to get in bed with us.  I told him he could sleep on the floor next to the bed.  When he gets in our bed it's very uncomfortable for all of us.  Noah's all over the place.  Then, a little later he needed help going to the bathroom.  So, I didn't get to really sleep in this morning.

Morry and I were both really tired from yesterday.

We all went to look at a couch from Craigslist.  We are looking for a couch for Morry's office.  We didn't like the couch though.

After that we went to lunch/brunch at Austin Diner.  The service wasn't good and the boys weren't well behaved.  Noah was cranky and Evan wouldn't eat his food.  They didn't have powdered sugar so he wouldn't eat his pancakes.

After that we went to Dicks Sporting Goods to get baseball stuff for the boys.  They weren't very good there either.  They were being wild, touching everything, and not listening.

On the way home we stopped at the JCC.  They were having a "Jewish Scouting Event" with info on Boy Scouts.  We thought we'd check it out.  I wouldn't really call it an event.  There were a couple people sitting around.  One table was out with some papers on it.  They had a few derby cars out and old roof part propped up slanted on the edge of the table to use as a racetrack.  We were the only people there other than those manning the booth.

Morry played baseball with the boys this afternoon while I rested.

For dinner we ate at Carinos and then went to HEB.

Garage Sale

Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Today we had a garage sale. It occupied most of our day.  Rachel and I planned to get up at 5:45 to start moving things out.  However, she had trouble sleeping thinking about all the stuff we had to do.  She got up at 5:20 and started getting ready.

I got up at our scheduled time and promptly began to help.  We started bringing things outside and placing them on the driveway.  We had a ton of stuff.  Evan got up as he heard all the commotion and helped us as well.

The scheduled time for the garage sale was 8am but the first people came at 7am.  We were still setting up even then.  We had planned to sell sodas, juice boxes and popcorn.  I was still setting that up when people came.  Also we planned to sell our old mattress and we hadn't gotten those out.

We had people come all the way until about 1pm.  It was a very long day.  The boys came out with us. Evan played with a neighbor boy for a while.  Noah stayed with us.  All in all, we made more than $400 selling old baby toys and clothes.  There were things that I never thought would sell but ended up selling.  Alternately, there were things I was sure would sell that didn't sell.

We still had quite a bit left at the end.  Right now it's all in our garage.  We're trying to decide what to do next.  We may have another garage sale in the spring when they have a neighborhood-wide garage sale for Circle C.

We came in and cleaned up.  Rachel and I each had showers and then we left to go to Matt and Rachael's.  They had a little party for Molly for her 9th birthday.  Ben opened the door for us.  I don't think that Evan and Ben said anything to each other.  They just looked at each other, nodded, and went into Ben's room to play Lego's.  Noah stayed out with us.  After some food, at one point, Noah and Max tried to have a catch.  I think that Noah liked being the big kid.  Then Ben and Evan were having a light saber duel and Max got a light saber and joined in.  It was really cute.  Evan was really good with Max.  All the kids really had a good time tonight.

We came home and the boys had some food. Now they are in bed.

Until next time...
