Busy Busy Busy Sports Weekend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Our weekend was very sports-filled.  Friday night, Evan had baseball practice.  His friend from the team, Everett, stayed overnight at our house so he get a ride with us to the tournament on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, I took Evan and Everett up to Georgetown for two games.  Evan played well.  The team managed their first win of the season in the second game (after losing by 1 run in the first game).

Meanwhile, Rachel took Noah to two football games.  Noah said he had several big runs and he pulled some flags.  His football team went 1-1 in the two games.

After Evan's baseball game, we jumped in the car and drove all the way south for Evan's two football games.  It took us long enough - combined with a late ending of baseball - that the first game was ending when we got there so Evan didn't get to play in the first game.  His team won anyway.  In the second game, Evan played really well.  He scored a touchdown by getting open despite being double covered and he made a nice catch jumping over the defender to get it.  They won that game.

On Sunday, we were back out at the baseball fields.  Evan's team won the first game.  Evan pitched the final inning to ensure the win.  He didn't throw many pitches.  After that we went to Popeye's for lunch and came back for the second game.  Rachel and Noah made it for the second game.  Evan's team had caught fire by this point and they crushed the other team.  Evan hit two balls to the fence and hit another really hard as well.  This win put them in the championship game.

In the championship, another boy started the game as pitcher.  He got one out but walked two kids (who ended up stealing second and third) and got 2-0 on another kid.  The coach put Evan into pitch.  With a 2-0 count and one out and runners at second and third, Evan managed to not give up any runs.  He got the first kid to pop out and struck out the next kid.  He had another good inning pitching.  In the third he ran into some bad luck.  His team made three errors behind him and that was the difference in the game.  But it was fun to watch the team not only get their first win of the season but make it all the way to the championship and finish as runner-ups.

Today, Noah had football practice after school.  Evan had his advanced catcher's course.  Noah said he did well at practice.  Evan's catcher's course was interesting as they talked to him about what pitches to throw at different counts, etc...  I was fascinated by it.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Noah in a Commercial

The last few days have been busy between school, work, baseball, etc.

We have been walking to and from school with Chewie.

Yesterday, while Evan was at baseball, Gabriela came over.  She was filming a Spanish language commercial for a local car dealership at her house. They needed a few kids to be in the commercial and she asked if our kids were available.   Noah jumped at the opportunity.   It was just a small part, running with kids to get into a car, but he loved it!  He took it very seriously.  When the commercial airs, Gabriela said she will share it with us.

Morry and I went to Wholy Bagel today with Chewie and then took him to the vet for booster shots.  He did well.

Today, after school we went with Noah to his school book fair and he picked out a couple of books.

I got my license renewed today.  I had to go in person to get a new picture this time, so that was annoying, but I got on the waitlist ahead of time and didn't have to wait very long.

From there I tutored.

I got home around 7:30 and we had hamburgers for dinner.

Here are a few pictures from the last few days.

I dropped Noah off with the therapist and Morry got there as I was leaving.

On my way to tutoring, I stopped at Target and Office Depot.

Hello Friday!

This morning we walked with Chewie.

Then, I was at school from 10-2 and Morry had a meeting at HomeAway.

Shortly after I got home we walked to pick up Noah.

Jude came over after school and he and Noah had a good time.

When Evan got home Morry took him to the CVS Minute Clinic.  Evan is still complaining about this throat hurting and now his ear hurts too.  We tried to make a doctors appointment but they only had after hours times available.

It turns out Evan has a double ear infection along with a virus and he got some antibiotics.

For dinner, we ordered pizza from Papa John's and watched the last episode of Stranger Things.

We walked with Chewie after dinner.

Now the boys will get ready for bed.

Home Alone

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, after taking Noah to school, Chewie found a big stick that he carried more than half way home.  It was much bigger than him, but he insisted on carrying it.  He was trotting, quite proudly, while carrying the stick.

I had to go into HomeAway this morning and then Rachel went to teaching.  Chewie was home alone from a bit after 9am until 2pm when I got home.  He did well in the crate.  We hadn't left him alone for that long since we got him.

We picked Noah up from school and walked home with Brody, Drew and their father as well as their dog Carlos.  Carlos and Chewie enjoyed walking together.  At one point, Chewie grabbed Carlos' leash in his mouth and Drew let go of the leash so it looked like Chewie was walking Carlos.

In the afternoon, Noah went with Rachel to tutoring.  Then they went to a dinner for the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls.

Evan and I left for baseball practice.  After practice we went to Tucci's Southside Subs and got some cheesesteaks.

Evan is doing his homework right now.

Until next time...

On the News

Last week, an anchor/reporter from the local Fox station interviewed me for a breast cancer story.  The story ran today several times.   It was first on at 6:45am.  I'll add the video to the end of this post, you can also see it here at Breast cancer survivor shares story.  Evan was very excited to his picture twice on the news!

We walked Noah to school with Chewie.

Morry went to Camp Gladiator and then I went to teach.

I got home around 2:30 just in time to pick up Noah from school.

We walked with Chewie to school this afternoon also.

I left for tutoring a little after 4pm.

Noah had football practice tonight.

When he got home we had dinner and watched another episode of Stranger Things.

Soon, the boys will get ready for bed.

Long Week

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This past week, I was in Minnesota.  Rachel and the boys stayed here.  It was a long week for everyone involved.

Chewie has been cute and growing all week but he has regressed some in the house training department.  Rachel had to clean up several messes this week.

I got home Thursday night.  I met Rachel and the boys at Me Con Bistro.

Friday night, Evan had baseball practice.  We picked up a 28" pizza from Jersey Giant Pizza on the way home.

Yesterday, Evan had two baseball games.  There wasn't any football games scheduled for either boy.  Evan went 2-2 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.  He played some good defense as well.  Unfortunately, his team lost both games.  Rachel and Noah brought Chewie to the first game.  Chewie got quite a bit of attention.

We had leftover pizza for dinner when we got home.

This morning, Evan had a game in Taylor at 8am.  He and I left the house at 6am.  He didn't do well hitting but Evan caught the whole game.  He threw one kid out trying to steal and should have had another but the tag was not put down properly.  He also tagged two kids out at home.  Again, the team lost but they were in it until the end.

We spent the rest of the day at home until Sunday School.  I watched the Steelers game until we had to go pick the boys up.  We picked up Grandma and Papa on the way to get the boys.  Then we went to a restaurant called the Crawfish Shack for dinner.

We came home and watched Stranger Things with the boys.

Now the boys are in bed.

Until next time...

Two Football Games

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Noah had a flag football game at 8am.  Chewie got up shortly before the alarm.  Rachel let him outside to go to the bathroom.  I never really went back to sleep.  I got up and fed him and the cats and then I got the boys up to get dressed.

Noah played well in his game.  He ran the ball and had just about gotten by everyone for a potential touchdown.  As he was planting this foot to cut back inside his toe went out of bounds.  Then on another big play, he got behind the defense.  The quarterback threw the ball up.  He had to wait for it but he was able to catch it.  It was a big catch to ice the game.

Rachel brought Chewie to the game.  He got a ton of attention.

After Noah's game, we went across the street to Donut Taco Palace.  Evan ate 3 donuts and Noah had two bacon and egg tacos.

From there we went back to the fields where Evan had a practice before his game.

In Evan's game, he had two big catch and runs in the first half.  He played defense in the second half and knocked a ball away and almost intercepted the deflection.  His defense was particularly good today.  Evan's team, like Noah's team shut out their opponent.

Rachel brought Chewie back to the fields for Evan's game and again, he was very popular.

After the game, we came home for a bit.  Then Noah had a birthday party at Altitude.

For dinner we met the Ramatis.  Their son Jake is Noah's friend from camp this summer.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

It's Friday

This morning we walked to school.

On my way to school, I stopped at Petsmart to get a dog tag for Chewie and some rawhide chews.

When I got home we walked to pick up Noah from school.  Chewie got a lot of attention and played with our neighbor's dog, Carlos.

Tonight Evan had his homecoming party/dance at school.  We dropped him off at 6pm.

We ate dinner at home and then picked him up at 8pm.  We brought Chewie with us to pick him up and then got dessert at TCBY.

We sat outside and again, Chewie got a lot of attention and loved it.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Chewie Day 2

Chewie did well again overnight.

He really, really likes food, so we have to make sure he is not around while the cats are eating.  Morry let Chewie outside first thing this morning and then brought him back upstairs.  Then, he went back downstairs to feed the cats.  Chewie stayed upstairs with me while I got showered and dressed and then I let him go downstairs for his food.  He eats super-fast!  We have never seen a dog eat that fast.

We all walked Noah to school and then Evan went to his bus stop.

I went to school.

Morry was home this morning working.

Then, Morry and I met for lunch at Wholy Bagel.

This afternoon we walked with Chewie to pick up Noah from school.  He got tons of attention.

Shortly after Evan came home I left to tutor.

Morry and Evan took Chewie to his first appointment at our vet.  He got his next round of shots and everything looked good.  He weighs 29 pounds.

When I got home we ate dinner.

Then, Evan worked on homework.

We just took a short walk and now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Chewie after the afternoon walk.  He decided to cool off in his water bowl.

Here are a few more pictures from the last few days.

Meet Chewie

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Yesterday, the fence guys were able to finish our fence.  They actually finished the fence by 2pm.  It's amazing because they started at 9am on Monday taking down our old fence, so about a day and a half later they finished.

The fence was the barrier to us getting Chewie.  Gold Ribbon Rescue had told us that in order for us to adopt Chewie, we needed the fence to be fixed.  We arranged to drive up to Georgetown after dropping Evan off for baseball practice and doing the adoption while Evan was practicing.

The first thing that happened is that it started to rain so Evan's practice was cancelled.  Then at about 3:30, we got a call from the foster woman saying that he was throwing up and some diarrhea and they were taking him to the vet.  Until they confirmed that he was ok the adoption would be on hold.  We had planned to leave the house at 5 and hoped that we'd hear by then.  By 5:30 we hadn't heard anything. Knowing we had a long drive, we decided to just leave anyway.  At 5:45 we got the call that he was ok and we could come and get him.

The adoption went smoothly.  The original owner of Chewie had sent him with two different crates - a wire big create and a soft travel crate, all kinds of toys, a giant thing of food, a ton of soft food, a dog bed, as well as a leash and harness.  We packed the van up and Chewie rode on Evan's lap all the way home.

Last night, he slept through the night with no problems.  Today he spent the whole day in my office with me.  He was so good.  He just slept next to me for most of the time.  At one point he left and he'd get a toy and bring into my office and play with it a bit and then go and get another one and bring it in.  He really was no problem.  He's completely house trained and you can take him outside and he'll go to the bathroom every time.

He came with us in the afternoon to pick Noah up, though I think it was probably a bit too hot at that time of day.  We took him for a walk this evening. It was a fairly long walk for a puppy and he did well.

Evan and Noah were both excited to come home from school and see him.

Evan is finishing up his homework and then the boys will go to bed.

Until next time...

It's Monday

This morning Morry walked Noah to school.  I hurt my ankle the other day and am taking it easy.

Before school, I stopped at Academy to get an ankle brace and then Walgreens to pick up a few things. I got home around 2:30.

Morry walked to pick up Noah.

Noah had a doctor's appointment and then football practice.

After that, he went to Grandma and Papa's since tomorrow they will be out of town.

Evan, Morry, and I had leftover Rudy's for dinner.

We picked up Noah.

Now the kids are getting ready for bed.
