Meet Chewie

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Yesterday, the fence guys were able to finish our fence.  They actually finished the fence by 2pm.  It's amazing because they started at 9am on Monday taking down our old fence, so about a day and a half later they finished.

The fence was the barrier to us getting Chewie.  Gold Ribbon Rescue had told us that in order for us to adopt Chewie, we needed the fence to be fixed.  We arranged to drive up to Georgetown after dropping Evan off for baseball practice and doing the adoption while Evan was practicing.

The first thing that happened is that it started to rain so Evan's practice was cancelled.  Then at about 3:30, we got a call from the foster woman saying that he was throwing up and some diarrhea and they were taking him to the vet.  Until they confirmed that he was ok the adoption would be on hold.  We had planned to leave the house at 5 and hoped that we'd hear by then.  By 5:30 we hadn't heard anything. Knowing we had a long drive, we decided to just leave anyway.  At 5:45 we got the call that he was ok and we could come and get him.

The adoption went smoothly.  The original owner of Chewie had sent him with two different crates - a wire big create and a soft travel crate, all kinds of toys, a giant thing of food, a ton of soft food, a dog bed, as well as a leash and harness.  We packed the van up and Chewie rode on Evan's lap all the way home.

Last night, he slept through the night with no problems.  Today he spent the whole day in my office with me.  He was so good.  He just slept next to me for most of the time.  At one point he left and he'd get a toy and bring into my office and play with it a bit and then go and get another one and bring it in.  He really was no problem.  He's completely house trained and you can take him outside and he'll go to the bathroom every time.

He came with us in the afternoon to pick Noah up, though I think it was probably a bit too hot at that time of day.  We took him for a walk this evening. It was a fairly long walk for a puppy and he did well.

Evan and Noah were both excited to come home from school and see him.

Evan is finishing up his homework and then the boys will go to bed.

Until next time...
