Busy Morning with Noah

This morning Evan woke up around 8:30am and I had to wake up Noah a little before 9am so we could take Evan to school. I gave Evan breakfast and brought some breakfast for Noah in the car. We dropped off Evan at school and then went to Target. I was in the DVD section looking at DVD cases. A preview for Up was on the TV and Noah was very excited. Noah also enjoyed identifying all the movies we passed (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatbals, Cars, UP, …).

After Target Noah and I went to a Pink Ribbon Cowgirls (breast cancer group) lunch at Cypress Grill. Noah was the only kid there this time. He was really well behaved until the very end. One woman got up to leave and Noah said “bye” and blew her a kiss. All the women were in love with him. Towards the end Noah was getting kind of cranky so we left a little early.

We went home to drop off the Target stuff and get some checks to deposit at the bank.

We stopped at the bank on the way to pick up Evan.

At Evan’s classroom I let Noah walk in first. Right away Noah started calling for Evan. When Evan saw Noah he ran up and gave him a hug.

When we got home I put the boys down for naps.

Two friends of mine from Dallas wanted to buy us dinner. The plan was for them to pay for the meal over the phone and Morry would pick it up on his way home. I gave them the phone number of the restaurant and our choices, but unfortunately the restaurant wouldn’t take credit cards over the phone. I tried another restaurant and they too wouldn’t take the credit card over the phone. We ended up just ordering from the first restaurant and Morry paid with our card when he picked up the food. We’ll try to find another restaurant that will take credit cards over the phone so my friends can get our dinner on Thursday.

After dinner I tutored one student.

Morry took care of the boys and put them to bed. When I got home Evan was still getting ready for bed so I was able to say goodnight to him, although I’m sure I’ll see more of him tonight when he gets out of bed.

Getting Out

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Evan came in the room around 7am. I was actually able to put him back to bed for a bit. He came back in the room a little after 8am. I got him breakfast and put him in the gameroom to watch a movie. Inexplicably, after about 30 minutes, he just ran into Noah's room, said hi, and then left. So it woke Noah up and then upset him that Evan had left. So that meant I had to get up and deal with the boys.

I got them breakfast and the three of us watched Up together. Noah was very cranky. Once the movie was over, I cut some fruit up for them and put them in the car along with Lizzy. Rachel wasn't feeling too well this morning and was worried that it was cold outside.

I drove the boys over to the Shops at Arbor Trail where there is a hike and bike trail around the outside. All of us took a walk. At then end we stopped in the Smoothie King and got smoothies for all of us including Rachel. Lizzy did well on the walk.

We got home and had lunch and then put the boys down for a nap.

When the boys got up, we played a bit. I talked to Rachel and she said she felt up to going out to dinner. So we went to a place called the Cypress Grill. They have this really good flavored sodas. Also, Evan can get a children's plate of grilled shrimp so it's easy to eat there. Evan was behaved but Noah was being a pain in the butt. He was throwing mini-temper tantrums, although in between he'd be cute and eat his food.

The boys are now in bed and Evan has already come out twice.

Until next time...

Rainy Monday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel is doing ok today. Her fever is gone which is the best news. She's very slowly but steadily making progress in feeling better. Only one more time of this.

Last night, Noah got up several times. He's getting a cold and he's been congested so I think that was keeping him up. The first time he called for me crying. I went in there and he sat up. He pointed to his nose and said "nose". He looked so cute. Then he said he wanted his pacifier so I gave that to him. He went back to sleep. A couple hours later Evan got me up to tell me he couldn't find his blue blanket and wanted me to find it. About 10 minutes after that, Noah woke up again and started calling for me. I gave him his pacifier and he went back to sleep.

Evan went in Grandma/Lynn's room at 8:30. I had gone to work. He told Grandma that Mommy didn't feel good and wanted to know if she could get him breakfast. She got up with him and got him some breakfast. Noah woke up closer to 10. I was glad he slept so long since he was up a bunch last night.

Grandma said that Evan was very well behaved this morning. The three of them went to HEB. Evan walked around while Noah was in the cart. Apparently the boys were very good. Unfortunately, as they were about to checkout, Evan got himself in front of the cart and got hit with the cart. Grandma felt really bad but Evan didn't cry. He is getting to be such a tough guy.

When I got home, Evan was calling for me. It's unclear how much he napped as Grandma said she could hear him running around upstairs. But it looked like he had slept some. We got Noah up and then I brought them downstairs to watch Up and have dinner. Grandma made dinner for us. It was an apple chicken meal with a pasta side. It was very good. Neither boy ate well though.

After dinner, we lit the menorahs and opened presents. Both boys really like getting presents although Noah doesn't want to open them. He wants someone else to open them for him.

We made Evan some warm milk before bed. We're hoping that may help. He came down and asked for more warm milk. Unfortunately, as I'm typing this, he just came down again. I think he's impervious to anything that makes him sleepy. I wonder if a horse tranquilizer would work. Just joking. Seriously.

Until next time...

Early Father's Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry. It's my night to write the blog.

Today, we celebrated an early Father's Day. Tomorrow we are heading out to Mason, TX to see Rachel's family so we decided to spend a nice day today. I thought this morning we could see the movie Up as a family and then tonight I wanted to go eat at Home Slice.

Evan woke up a little before 8am which was good, in a way, because the movie was at 9:45am so we needed an earlier start. We got up and got him dressed and then Noah dressed and headed off to the movie theater.

The AMC by us has a deal that if you see a movie before noon on the weekends, it's $5.00 for each person, so it's a pretty good deal. They also offered something called a "super ticket" which means it's $8.00 for a ticket but you get $4.00 in concession items (or item I should say). We knew that we were going to get popcorn for Evan, Noah and me to share so it worked out well - we just got one of these "super tickets".

The movie was excellent. It was just terrific. Pixar just knows how to make a movie that is so much better than any other animated movie, like any Dreamworks movie. It's also better than most other movies out there. On a sidebar, we saw the Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night on DVD. Boy was that an overhyped movie. It was really long and boring. I also felt that Slumdog Millionaire was also very pedestrian compared to all the talk and build up. But Pixar knows how to make movies and this was one of the best Pixar movies. I'd rank it up with Toy Story (1 and 2) and Monsters, Inc - above Finding Nemo and WALL-E. The boys seemed to enjoy it. Noah did fairly well, he was a bit squirmy. He stuffed his pacifier into each of our mouths when we weren't looking. Then he'd giggle. Evan had me take him to the bathroom twice during the movie. There's definitely something to be said for diapers.

After the movie we went to Old Navy. Rachel got a $30 off $100 coupon and it was half off all men's clothes. So we made out.

Then we went to Chick-Fil-A because we had a coupon for a free milkshake for Father's Day. We all shared it.

We came home, had lunch and put the boys down for naps.

After naps, we went to Home Slice for dinner. We got to Home Slice about 6:50. They said it would be a 45 minute wait. An hour and a half later, they finally seated us. We didn't get our food until 8:50. The boys were incredibly well-behaved. I can't tell you how disappointed I am with Home Slice. They are my favorite pizza place in town and I don't know how you miss the time to be seated estimate by 100%. In fact, when I'm done with this blog, I'll probably email them and tell them my displeasure.

The boys are in bed now and it's pretty quiet. Tomorrow we have a big day so hopefully they get some sleep.

Until next time...
