Home from Dallas

We got back from our trip to Dallas today.

We had a nice time and did lots of fun things.  We got to see Sherah's family a few times.

The boys, Morry, and Papa went to the Stars hockey game.

We got home around 2pm today and Deborah brought Calvin over around 4pm.  The boys were really excited when Calvin got here.

We went to HEB and then picked up dinner.  Morry and I got China Dynasty and the boys got McDonalds.

Evan and Noah are ready for bed. Noah's playing on his computer and Evan's watching the Longhorns game.

It's good to be home.

Bowling and Gumbos

This morning we went bowling.  The kids had fun and were well behaved.  On the way home we got smoothies.

We took it easy at home this afternoon.

Deborah came to pick up Calvin.  We'll get him when we get back from Dallas.  The boys seemed ok about him leaving.  We weren't sure if they would be upset.

For dinner we went to Gumbos.  It was nice and the boys were well behaved there as well. We wanted to get frozen yogurt after dinner, but everything was closed.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Breakfast for Dinner

This morning we stayed at home.  I got some things done around the house.

Late morning, Evan and I went to play in the cul-de-sac and invited his friend Nathan out to play too.  I talked with Nathan's mom while the boys played and then they went inside to play.  I went back home and Evan ended up spending most of the day at Nathan's house.  It sounds like they had a great time together.

For dinner, we had bagels (that I made), fruit, and breakfast tacos.

Calvin has been coming out a lot more today.  He got some leftover scrambled eggs and was out long enough to eat a few in the kitchen before Lizzy got to them.

Now, the boys are getting ready for bed.

Movies and Football

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

When I got up this morning, Evan and Noah were downstairs playing Wii.  Calvin slept in Evan's bedroom last night as did Noah.  At first Calvin slept in the lower bunk with Evan but he ended up somehow getting to the upper bunk and sleeping with Noah.  Calvin came downstairs with Evan in the morning and went into my office.

Rachel met her friend Melissa for lunch while the boys and I went to see Thor.  The boys seemed to like Thor.  It was very action-packed so it held their attention.  There were a couple scenes that could have been scary but neither boy seemed affected.  On the way home, I asked them if they were scared.  They looked at me like I was crazy.

When we got home we watched the Steelers game.  We ended up bring Calvin out of my office and he sat on the couch with the boys and me and watched some of the game.

After dinner we had some leftovers.

Then the boys and Lizzy all had showers.  Calvin is now upstairs in the Evan's bedroom with the boys.

Until next time...

Calvin Update

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Jack and Evan got up first.  We heard them playing with the air hockey.  Noah got up shortly after.

Jack left the house at 9:30am.

Calvin was still in my office this morning.  He wasn't under the couch but he was on a shelf.  It took us a little while to find him but we did.

Deborah, the woman who gave us Calvin came over later in the morning.  She brought his food bowl and food.  Evan stayed in my office with Calvin and he sat on Evan's lap.  Evan sat with Calvin for quite a while today.  Calvin has definitely warmed up to us, though he's still not brave enough to walk around the house.

For dinner, I picked up Chuy's for Rachel and me while Rachel made dinner for the boys.

We're about to put the boys to bed.

Until next time...

Calvin

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning it was warm enough to walk but I had a meeting that I needed to get back for so we drove to school.

For lunch, Rachel and I went to Wholy Bagel as usual.

We picked up the boys from school.  Evan was very excited when we got home from school for two reasons.  The first was that Jack was going to come over.  Jack's sister Audrey is in the city-wide production of the Nutcracker Suite as a ballet dancer.  So Jack is staying with us tonight while his parents go.  He is sleeping over.

The other reason is that we were getting a new cat.  A woman, Deborah, from the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls was trying to find a home for her cat because she was taking a dog from a woman who passed away.  The dog did not get along with cats.  Deborah was bringing the cat named Calvin over for us to meet him to see if we'd get along.

At 5:30 Calvin and Jack got here at the same time so it was a bit crazy.  Calvin was a bit scared and he went into my office under the couch.  We stayed in there with him for a while. Lizzy came in and was very excited but of course Calvin was scared off by Lizzy's excitement.  I did get to hold Calvin for a little bit.

We ordered pizza from zpizza for delivery.  The boys ate at the coffee table while watching Despicable Me 2.

Rachel gave Calvin a bit of chicken off of her barbecue chicken pizza.

The boys are upstairs now and we're in my office with Calvin.

Until next time...

School Parties

This morning we drove to drop the kids off at school.

At 8am we came back to school for Evan's holiday party.  Evan seemed happy to have us there.

We went home for a little while and then came back to the school at 1pm for Noah's party.  Noah also liked having us there.  He seemed to enjoy his party.

We went home for just a short time and then walked back to school the pick up the boys.  The weather was very nice and we walked home with Brian and his boys.

For dinner we made Asian food.

In a little bit we'll get the boys ready for bed.

Light Show

We drove the boys to school.

During the day I went to HEB and Best Buy.

We walked to get the boys from school.  The weather was really nice.

We had an early dinner of corned beef and rolls.  I made some fudge to give out to the teachers.

Then, we went to the light show at Mozarts.  The kids seem to really like it.  The show lasted about 20 minutes and then we picked out some dessert to share.  We got a caramel apple and a little apple pie.  It was a nice night.

On the way home we stopped at Randalls to pick up a few things.

Now the boys are in bed.

Here are a few pictures.

Here Comes the Sun

It was cold this morning.  We drove the boys to school, but then it warmed up and the sun came out.

I went to my muscle activation therapy and then stopped by Bobbie Nehman's house.  She lives close to where I was driving and the other day she asked me to stop by some time.  We had a nice visit and she worked on my feet and showed me some exercises I can do.

I got home just in time to walk with Morry to pick up the boys from school.

For dinner we all had different foods.  The boys had fried matzoh and Evan had shrimp as well.  Morry had pasta and I had an egg salad sandwich.

We are about to get the boys ready for bed.

Busy Weekend

This weekend was busy.

It was Ben's Bar Mitzvah, Evan's baseball tournament, and Aunt Susan's graduation.

Marilyn came into town Friday night.  We woke up early for the Bar Mitzvah on Saturday.  We had lunch afterward at the synagogue.

Morry and Evan headed to San Marcos for Evan's baseball tournament.  Marilyn, Noah, and I went home for a little while.  Noah and I left to go to a different part of San Marcos to celebrate Aunt Susan's PhD graduation.  A lot of the family gathered to surprise Aunt Susan.   We had a nice early dinner at Salt Grass.

From San Marcos we all drove to North Austin to Matt and Rachael's house for a little Bar Mitzvah party.

Grandma and Papa came to our house to spend the night before heading back to Dallas.

This morning Morry, Evan, Noah, and Marilyn went back out to San Marcos for day 2 of the tournament.  Evan's team lost the first game and were eliminated.

We took it easy later in the day.

For dinner Morry picked up food from Saps.

The boys just had showers and now they will watch some of the Steelers game before they go to bed.

Here are a couple of pictures.

Laser Tag and Lebanese Food

We drove the boys to school and drove to pick them up as well.  It was wet and cold today.

Around lunch time Morry and I went to Target and then Wholy Bagel for lunch.

Tonight Evan had a birthday party at a laser tag place.   We dropped him off and then Morry, Noah, and I went out to eat at a Lebanese restaurant.  We all liked our food.  Noah ate well there.

We picked up Evan at the party and spent a little bit of time there.

We just got home and now we are getting the boys ready for bed.

Haircuts and Baseball

This morning we drove the boys to school and drove to pick them up.  We dropped Morry off at home and then I took the boys to get haircuts.  Evan was in a bad mood for some reason.

Morry made the boys an early dinner and then Morry and Evan left for baseball practice.

Noah and I spent time at home.  He read to me and I helped him with his homework.

I just helped him get ready for bed.  Evan and Morry should be home around 8:30.

Still Really Cold

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Noah was the first up today.  Noah slept in Evan's room last night on the top bunk but he got up first.  Evan got up a short while later.  I came downstairs with them and put on the movie Captain America.  They enjoyed watching it. After that, they watched the Avengers and ate lunch during it.

The temperature when we got up - 28 degrees.

From there, the boys played with Legos for a bit.

Noah got invited to a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's this afternoon.  We all went over there.  We planned on buying tokens for Evan but a couple kids didn't show up - perhaps because of the weather.  So he got tokens that were going to go to other kids.  Evan did very well at Skee-ball.  Noah seemed to have a good time with his friends.

From there we drove across the city to BBQ Outfitters to look at grills.  We found one we really liked and I think we're going to get it.

We had a Groupon for the Melting Pot and so we made reservations there.  Everyone enjoyed their meal.  Noah had pork and steak while Evan had shrimp and salmon.  Noah finished all of his pork but had a little steak left.  Evan finished everything.  Then Evan had a ton of chocolate as part of the chocolate fondue.  They brought extra strawberries and Noah ate a bunch of those.  He didn't want chocolate on them.

We came home and put the boys to bed but Evan, for some reason, is reading this over my shoulder.

Until next time...

School Delayed and Holiday Party

This morning at 5:30am we got an automated call that school was delayed 2 hours.  I don't know why though.  There didn't seem to be any ice on the road.  Around 7am Noah came in our room, dressed.  He was trying to figure out why we weren't up.  A little while later Evan came in asking if school was canceled.

We drove the boys to school and later in the morning went to Wholy Bagel.

We also drove to pick up the boys at school.

We had pasta at home for dinner and then Seb, a new babysitter came over.  He is the son of one of Evan's pre-school teachers.

Morry and I went to a holiday party at one of my student's house.  It was nice.  There was a concert put on by the Zilker Orchestra.  One guy played the piano and there were 3 singers.

We got home around 10:30.  Noah was asleep.  Evan was still up, though in bed.  Evan said they had a good night with Seb.

Cold Front

This morning we drove to school since it was starting to get cold outside.  During the day the temperature kept dropping.  They are saying we could even get some ice over the next few days.

We drove to pick up the boys from school.  Evan was in a bad mood since his recess was cut short.

For dinner we had leftover pizza.

We just got the boys ready for bed.

Picking Peppers

We walked the boys to school this morning.  Noah was throwing at fit about something.

I tutored this afternoon.  Morry got the boys from school and Gabby came over.

When I got home Evan noticed some of the peppers were ready to be picked.  We picked 2 peppers, a red and green.  Evan, Noah, and I split them.  Evan also picked a tomato, but he said it wasn't very good.

For dinner we made pizza at home.

The boys are playing.  In a little bit we'll start getting ready for bed.

We walked the boys to school.

During the day I went to the bank and HEB.

When it was time to get the boys from school it was in the 80s.  It was a really nice afternoon.

Evan had baseball practice at 6pm.  Morry gave Evan dinner before they left.

Noah and I had dinner here while they were gone.

Morry and Evan got home around 8:30.  We did Hanukkah and then got the boys ready for bed.

Sleepy Morning

Both of the boys seemed pretty sleepy this morning.  When we got to school I warned Noah's teacher that he was sleepy.  His teacher said a lot of the kids seemed that way.

In the afternoon I tutored.  Morry picked up the boys from school and Gabby came over.

For dinner we had Sprite chicken and biscuits.

The boys are playing downstairs.  Morry's making popcorn for the boys' lunches.

In a little bit we'll start getting ready for bed.

Frozen

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

No, it didn't get cold again here.  The boys and I went to see the movie Frozen.  We went to see it at the Alamo Drafthouse.  The boys both got a pizza while we were there as well as some popcorn.  The movie was pretty good.  It was no Despicable Me, but it entertained while we we were watching.

When we got home, I ran out to a meeting.

Later in the afternoon, the boys, Rachel and I played football outside.  Then the boys came in and made up some sort of sports game to play.

We had a small dinner and then lit the menorahs and opened some presents.  Following that we gave the boys showers and now they are in their rooms.

Until next time..
