Police Station

This morning I volunteered to go to a press conference at the police station for the Susan G Komen foundation. I had to be there at 8:45 so Morry took the boys to school this morning. Noah cried when Morry dropped him off.

At the press conference they had breast cancer survivors “pin” (put stickers on) police officers. A few city council members were there and I met the police chief.

When I picked up the boys at school they both had pizza all over their shirts. Evan and Noah were in good moods.

When we got home I tried putting Noah down for a nap. I left him in his room for a while, but he wouldn’t nap. I don’t know why he hasn’t been napping lately.

Blanca came at 4:00 and I tutored.

After tutoring I met Morry and the boys at Bicycle Sport Shop to drop off our bikes for tune ups.

For dinner we went to Home Slice. We got home not too long ago and put Evan and Noah to bed.

Feeding the Ducks and Geese

This morning the boys were pretty good. Noah had a few bouts of crankiness.

I ran 2 miles pushing the boys in the stroller. Then, we went over to Newflower. Evan and Noah were good there and had lots to eat. They had samples and then got their free cookie after we finished checking out.

On the way home we stopped at park I had just heard about. It has a pond with lots of ducks and geese. I brought some tortilla with us and we fed the ducks and geese. There were a ton of them, but they all seemed really friendly and left us alone we were out of food. Evan and Noah liked walking around and watching the turtles in the water too.

We came home and the boys had a little bit more to eat.

I put Noah down for a nap, but he didn’t sleep.

Gabby came at 4pm and I tutored.

I came home at 7pm. For dinner I had salmon and Morry had pork tenderloin.

We gave the boys baths and now they are in bed, though not asleep.

Here are more videos from today.

School Day, Exercise, and HEB

This morning Evan woke up at 5:50am as Morry was leaving to go to the gym. I’m not sure why he was up so early.

Noah slept late and we had to wake him up a little before 9am to go to school.

Both boys did fine at drop off.

From school I went to the gym to meet the trainer. She had me do the stair step machine and then run about 1 ½ miles on the outside trail.

After that I went to HEB. I saved about $30 in coupons and we got our dinner for tonight free with coupons.

I came home, put the groceries away, cleaned up the kitchen, vacuumed, mopped, and then it was time to get the boys.

Evan and Noah had a good day. Noah’s teacher said one of the kids was upset so they were going to take her into Evan’s classroom. They decided to bring Noah too since they thought he would like seeing Evan. He had fun, but cried with it was time to leave Evan.

When we got home I tried putting Noah down for a nap, but he wouldn’t sleep.

Blanca came at 3:45. I tutored and came home at 7pm.

We ate dinner and then put the boys to bed. Noah is playing with his leapster. Evan is still awake too.

Better Day at the Lake

I just wrote a whole post and Word crashed and I lost it all. Ugh.

Anyway, today was a better day.

We walked around the lake with Lizzy. The weather was nice and cooler today.

The boys at lunch outside.

Gabby babysat and I tutored.

For dinner we ate leftover stuffed peppers, veggies, and rolls.

The boys are in bed, but not asleep.

Here is a video from today.

More Shmoah

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan got up early this morning, especially since he went to be very late. But he didn't really bother us. Noah slept in a bit so we were able to sleep in some.

When we got up we decided to walk to the elementary school like we did last week. We brought Lizzy along with us. When we got to the school, a woman that Rachel runs with, Ana, was there with her daughter Regina. We talked to her a bit and then our neighbor came so we talked with her some.

We had heard about a pond behind the school where there are fish and turtles that you can feed. Ana told us there was also a little pier on the pond. Unfortunately, because of all the rain we had, the pier was flooded, but you could still go over to the pond. So after the boys played on the playground some, we walked over to the pond. Rachel walked with the boys to the edge while I stayed back with Lizzy. If we went too close to the water with Lizzy, she'd want to swim. While I was standing there another neighbor of ours came over to talk. They have a little boy who is Evan's age. They are also Steelers fans so they are automatically good people.

We started to walk home and the boys were walking. They weren't sitting in the stroller. Noah walks very slowly so eventually Rachel tried to get him in the stroller. He threw a fit. Since I needed to get home for the game, Lizzy and I went ahead. When Rachel got to the house with the boys, I thought Noah had poured water on his head because he was soaking wet. He was just very sweaty from fighting being in the stroller. He's very stubborn and doesn't give up.

I got changed for the game and put the game on. Rachel started heating up lunch for us and got lunch for the boys. Then she put on the bike attachment to her bike so that Evan could bike behind Rachel. After lunch she tried to bike with Evan but was having trouble getting the right balance and then Evan got scared. I think we're going to have to get a kickstand for the bike to start out with. Evan ended up biking around the neighborhood with his regular bike.

When she got back in, Rachel put Noah to bed. Again he threw a major temper tantrum. In his room, he screamed at the top of his lungs. Eventually he wore himself out and fell asleep.

Rachel took a nap while Evan and I were watching the game. Then she had to go tutor.

Noah got up around 4:30 or 5pm but wouldn't come downstairs because he wanted Rachel to let him out of his room. I said Rachel wasn't here. But he stayed in his room for awhile.

I made pasta for the boys and Rachel and I had left over ribs for dinner.

After dinner, the kids had baths and they are in bed now..but of course they're awake.

Until next time...

Boating

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today is a pretty significant day. A year ago today Rachel was diagnosed with cancer. It's been a pretty tough year, but the year is over now and Rachel is doing amazing. She started the morning with a 8.27 mile run. Each week she seems to be adding a mile to her run. It's really impressive.

Since today is a significant day, we thought we'd something a bit special. One of the daily deal sites called LivingSocial was having a deal on a 2-hour boat rental. So we decided to get that deal. We drove out to the lake and rented a ski boat. We toyed with the idea of bringing Lizzy but we knew if we anchored somewhere, she'd want to swim and we weren't sure how we'd get her back in the boat.

When we got in the boat and we put Noah's life jacket on, he began to throw a fit. He didn't want a life jacket on. It wasn't only our just our rule, it was the rule of Just For Fun where we rented the boat. His fit lasted for about 30 minutes. While I was driving the boat, he was rolling around on the floor.

We found a good spot to anchor and we had lunch that we brought. Noah's mood improved as he ate his lunch. Then we all went swimming off the back of the boat. Evan really enjoyed swimming. Noah seemed to like it too.

On the way back to Just For Fun, Noah threw another fit. I think it was because he didn't want to leave the lake. I'm not quite sure.

We drove home and put Noah down for a nap.

For dinner, we went to the Hill Country Pasta House. Rachel's friend, Melissa, was having a birthday party at her house starting at 7pm, so we decided to go out that way, grab some dinner and go to Melissa's. The boys were really well behaved tonight. They both ate well at dinner. Then at Melissa's they were really showing off for everyone. They seemed to enjoy themselves.

We came home and the boys are in bed now.

Now we'll begin year two of Rachel's survival.

Until next time...

Shmoah in Full Force

This morning we hung out at home and then got ready to leave the house. The plan was to go to Bicycle Sport Shop and then the bookstore. Noah started to throw a fit as we were leaving. I’m not sure what the problem was. He was carrying a lot of stuff and was getting frustrated. He wanted to bring his toys and milk in the car, which was fine, but he was getting upset because he couldn’t hold it all.

As soon as we got to Bicycle Sport Shop the tantrum got worse. He was rolling on the floor crying, kicking his shoes off, etc. It was really embarrassing. I got what we came for an left. It took me about 10 minutes to get Noah buckled in his car seat. It’s very tough to get a 2 ½ year old buckled while he is throwing a tantrum. Once I got him buckled, I started the car, rolled down the windows and turned the radio off. Noah cried the whole way home.

We got home and they boys ate some and then I put Noah down for nap. He wouldn’t nap.

Once Morry got home I was able to lay in bed for a little bit.

For dinner we went to Kerbey Lane and then met someone at Barnes and Noble who bought our UT football tickets from us. We decided not to go to the game tomorrow.

Evan and Noah are in bed. Whew.

In case you want to see the tantrum I did take some video today. I was going to do a video about my post cancer stuff and going to the bike shop, but it turned out to be a Noah Tantrum video.
