Newflower

This morning Evan woke up right as Morry was leaving. He must have heard the garage door. Evan was screaming for Daddy, but Morry had already left. I got him breakfast and a movie in the gameroom.

Once Noah got up, we went to Newflower to get some groceries. Evan and Noah were pretty good there, and I let them get their free cookie at the end of our shopping. Noah made a mess, as usual.

When we got home we ate lunch. Evan ate really well and ate all of the veggies on his plate.

Evan and Noah took good naps, though Evan ended up sleeping on the floor by his gate.

For dinner we had rotisserie chicken and corn soup.

After dinner we took a walk around the neighborhood.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed. Evan’s crying for Daddy right now.

Austin Java and No Naps

This morning I was able to sleep in some thanks to Morry and Grandma and Papa.

Papa went off to the Hillel meeting and Morry went to meet Marcin at Austin Java Company to do some work. Me, Mom/Grandma, Evan, Noah, and Aunt Susan were trying to do decide where to go for brunch/lunch. Morry suggested we come to Austin Java. We were worried it was going to be crowded, but we were easily able to find a table. Once we ordered I had Evan come with me to find a high chair. As we walked to the back of the restaurant we saw Morry. Evan seemed really confused, but excited to see Morry. We said hi and then went back to our table. Evan and Noah were pretty well behaved at lunch. Evan ate a little bit of pancake and Noah ate a ton of fruit. After we ate we all went outside to the patio for a little bit. Morry and Marcin met us out there toward the end.

When we got home both boys were tired and we put them down for naps. Neither one napped.

Before Grandma and Papa left we showed them Guitar Hero on the Wii.

We had an early dinner. We just made a fajita salad with stuff we happened to have in the house. We talked about going to the grocery store, but we were tired and knew the grocery store would be crowded as well.

After dinner, the boys played a little bit and watched a DVD of videos from when Evan was younger. Evan kept asking where Noah was in the video. We tried to explain Noah wasn’t born yet.

We put Evan and Noah to bed early, a little before 8pm. It seems to be quiet up there.

After we put them to bed, I took Lizzy for a 2 mile run.

The Return of Shmevan

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Evan shook me awake at 7:30. I'm glad he slept that long. I think he was pretty tired last night. Rachel said she'd take him down to get breakfast, but he insisted on me. I got him his breakfast and, as usual, got him set up watching a movie.

At 8:30, he returned to the room. He told me he was going to get dressed. He went to his room and picked out clothes and came back and got dressed. He's doing very well at getting dressed by himself. He's done it several times this week. Rachel took him downstairs and let me sleep.

I finally got up and went downstairs at 11am. Rachel and I had some chores to do in terms of cleaning up the house for her parents' visit. The boys were fairly well behaved in letting us get that done.

For lunch, we made pasta in the shapes of characters from the movie Cars. Evan, Noah and I each had some. Both boys ate very well. They each had fruit as well.

A little while later, Grandma and Papa arrived. Evan, Noah and Lizzy were all very excited. Grandma and Papa took everyone upstairs. I don't know what was going on up there but it sounded wild. Lots of laughter and shrieks coming from Evan and Noah. When I went up, Papa was pitching the koosh ball to Evan who had a small plastic bat in his hands. He hit the ball one time but it barely went anywhere. He said he "got a piece of it." I guess Papa taught him that phrase. At one point, Papa did a big exaggerated wind up and "fell" and dropped the ball behind him. Evan laughed so hard that he stopped making a sound. He really enjoyed that.

Of course it was difficult getting them down for a nap after that. Noah only napped for a little while and Evan didn't nap at all.

I had to go meet Marcin to talk about some things so I wasn't home in the later part of the afternoon.

When I got home, we left for dinner at a new Mexican restaurant they opened up by the house called Santa Rita. The food was good but Evan was a big pain. In fact, we joked that Evan went into this room for the nap, but his evil twin, Shmevan, was the one that came out. He was definitely over tired. Noah ate ok, and was better than Evan in terms of behavior but he wasn't great.

After dinner, Papa and Grandma gave Evan and Noah baths while Rachel and I went to see the movie (500) Days of Summer. Evan threw a fit as we were leaving. He held on to me crying saying he didn't want me to go. It was really tough leaving him like that. But it's quiet now. Let's hope he wasn't upset for too long.

Until next time...

Another Busy One

This morning Evan got up early while Morry was getting ready for work.

At 10:30 we went to the JCC for Tot Shabbat. They were having a clothing swap. You bring in clothes your kid/s no longer wears and maybe get some other clothes they can wear now. I brought a big bag of stuff. Most the stuff there was for babies or small toddlers, but I did get a few size 3 and 4 stuff for Evan.

After the JCC we went to get an oil change and inspection. Morry met us there and then we went out to lunch. We ate at Zuzu’s across from Morry’s work. After lunch Morry dropped us off at the car place and we had to wait a while. Evan and Noah were good considering we were there for a long time.

Then, we went to Evan’s school. There was an open house from 2-3 for the kids to come see their new classrooms. School starts next week. Both Evan and Noah had a great time playing in Evan’s new room.

We came home and I put the boys down for naps. They both slept.

While they were napping a tv repairman came by. Our tv will occasionally freeze. Luckily, it froze while he was here. That never happens. Whenever you have a problem and someone comes to fix it, it always seems fine. Anyway, he took some notes, and will hopefully come back next week to fix the tv.

I packed food for the boys and we left the house around 6pm to meet Morry, Matt, Ben, and Molly for dinner at Phil’s Icehouse. Evan and Noah had a great time playing on the playground, but they didn’t eat much.

We just put the boys to bed. Evan is still up.

Busy day of Shopping

Evan woke up at 7:20am today, a littler later than normal. Morry had already left the house for work so I got Evan set up in the gameroom.

Once the boys were fed and dressed we went to Southpark Meadows for some shopping.

First, we went over to Marshall's. I tried to find a printable coupon for Marshalls before we went out there, but didn't have any luck. At the store I was able to get 2 cute sandals for Evan and Noah for just $15. They both have really wide feet and we normally have to shop at higher end stores like Stride Rite. I was really happy to find these cheap and cute shoes that also fit their feet. I went there looking for dress shoes for Evan, but didn’t have any luck.

Then, we went to Carters. Almost everything in the store was on sale. Sweatshirts were 60% off. Most of the other items I bought were at least 50% off as well. Then, I hit the clearance rack and found a few shorts for $1.50! Evan and Noah had a great time playing with the toys in the store while I shopped. For most of the time we were the only customers in there. I brought my $10 off $50 printable coupon. My total was going to be over $100. I saw a coupon for 20% off but it expired 8/25. I thought I might as well ask, and sure enough the checker allowed me to use it. Yea!

Then we went to Target and of course I had a bunch of coupons there too.

The boys were very good while we were shopping. It was a successful trip.

At home they ate a little bit for lunch and then I put Evan and Noah down for naps. They both napped. Noah slept for 2 hours and Evan slept for 3 hours.

For dinner we had pork tenderloin and mashed potatoes.

After dinner we introduced Evan to his new behavior chart. I got posterboard at Target the other day and finally today I was able to make the chart. We will reward him with stickers and take them away if he misbehaves. After a certain amount he will get certain rewards. His first reward will be a trip to Target (or wherever) to pick out a matchbox or hot wheels car. He needs to get to square 26 to get the car. Evan earned 2 stickers today. We’ll see how this goes.

I’m about to go out with Alissa. We’ll go downtown for a little bit.

Noah is in bed now and Evan is still up. Morry’s in his room now trying to get him to sleep.

Lunch with Morry

Today was a busy day. Of course, Evan got up early. Once Noah got up we went over to HEB for a quick shopping trip.

Shortly after we got home Yenis and Kevin came over. They stayed until 12, when Blanca got here.

Then, I met Morry for lunch. We went to Phil’s Icehouse.

This afternoon I met Melissa at Scooter’s Coffeehouse. I had a coupon for a free smoothie drink, so we both got free drinks.

When I got home Evan was just getting up from a 2 hour nap. Noah slept a little while longer.

For dinner we had leftover cornbread casserole.

I decided I would try running after dinner. I got dressed and was about to go outside, but realized it was raining. I waited about 15 minutes and it cleared up, so I took Lizzy for a 2 mile run.

When I got back we got Evan and Noah ready for bed. Noah is in bed and quiet. Evan is still fighting sleep.

Quick Swim

Evan woke up early and Morry got him fed and set up in the gameroom.

Noah woke up a little before 9am.

Evan told me he wanted to go to the pool today. Now that school has started the pool is only open in the morning for rec swim between 9am and 10am. I told him if we wanted to go we’d have to hurry up and get dressed. We managed to get to the pool around 9:30am. Evan and Noah were the other kids there at the baby pool. They turned on the spray things for us. About 15 minutes later another 3 year old boy showed up. We got out of the pool at 10 and sat at a picnic table and had some snacks. Then, we drove back home.

For lunch Noah ate a lot of hot dog, but Evan just had some yogurt with fruit mixed in.

Evan and Noah took good naps. Evan really needed it. He slept for about 4 hours!

I got dinner ready and in the oven so we could eat as soon as Morry got home. Morry was taking the boys to the school meeting and I had tutoring. We ate the cornbread casserole quickly and then left the house.

On my way home from tutoring I saw I had a voicemail. It was from the alarm company saying our alarm went off. Soon after Morry got home with the boys 2 police officers stopped by to make sure everything was ok. Morry said Evan just stood there staring at them.

I got home as the police were driving away.

We got the boys ready for bed. Noah is sleeping. Evan is throwing a fit about not going to bed. Morry is busy with Fantasy Football and Evan won’t let me put him to bed. He’s just sitting on the floor next to me with his pants around his ankles. He won’t let me pull up his pants either.

The Mall and Rain

This morning I got up early so I could run before Morry left the house. Evan came in the bathroom while Morry was getting ready at about 6:15am. I took Lizzy on a 2 mile run. It was nice and I did well. It makes a big difference running without the stroller and when it’s a little cooler outside. We’ll see if I can keep this up. It’s just really hard getting up that early. It made for an even longer day.

Noah woke up at about 8am.

After breakfast and getting dressed we went to Target to exchange some shirts I got for Evan. I got him a size 4, but we decided the 4s wouldn’t fit for too much longer. I was able to get one shirt in a 5, but the other shirt was not there, so I just returned it.

Then, we went to the mall. We started out at Gymboree. I had a coupon and gift certificates. We only ended up buying some underwear for Evan. Evan insisted on getting the underwear with the skull and crossbones. He called them pirates. After Gymboree we went to Ben Bridge to get the stones in my rings checked. I’m supposed to do that every 6 months, but I think the last time was maybe 1.5 years ago. While they were checking my rings we went to Stride Rite. It was very busy in there and really hot for some reason. We waited for a long time and finally I just left. I didn’t feel like waiting anymore.

On the way out of the mall, I bought cookies. Evan and Noah ate their cookies in the car on the way home.

We ate lunch and then I put Evan and Noah down for naps. Noah napped, but Evan didn’t.

Evan played some Wii tennis and golf. We went outside for a little bit before Morry came home.

For dinner, we had pasta.

After dinner we took a short walk around the neighborhood. It was a little breezy and we actually saw a rainbow. Right as we got home it actually started raining. It rained hard, but just for a few minutes.

We gave the boys baths. When Evan got in the bath he put bubbles on his face and said he was Papa.

Evan and Noah are in bed now and it seems quiet. Morry just ran out to HEB to pick up Mottel’s medicine.

McDonalds

This morning Evan came in our room at 6:45am. Morry got Evan set up and went back to sleep for a little bit. I was able to sleep in this morning. Morry took care of the boys and let me rest some.

For lunch, we took the boys to McDonalds. Morry said they had been really good this morning. Also, we didn’t feel like making lunch.

Evan and Noah did really well at McDonalds. Evan ate his nuggets, the apples, cookies, and apple juice. Noah just ate a few French fries and some apples. After we ate we went outside on the playground. Every time Evan disappeared in one of the tunnels, Noah would call out for him. There was another boy there a few years older than Evan. Evan followed the boy around everywhere.

When we got home we put they boys down for naps. They both slept well.

For dinner we had Asian pasta. Evan ate some macaroni and cheese. Noah ate a little bit of mac and cheese.

After dinner Morry took Evan and Noah outside in the backyard while I cleaned up. While they were out there Evan hit the baseball over the fence into our neighbor’s yard (Dingo’s family). Morry took the boys over to their house to get the ball back. Morry said when they went in their backyard Evan ran over and started playing on their playscape. And when they walked through the house Evan wanted to touch and see everything.

Evan and Noah are upstairs in their rooms, but neither one is asleep yet.

More Gallo

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, around 6:45am, I was awakened by Evan coming in our room. He wanted us to put on a movie for him in the gameroom. Rachel, very generously, offered to set Evan up. However, he insisted that Daddy get up and go downstairs and get him breakfast and start the movie. I tried to go back to sleep after that but never really fell into a deep sleep. I dozed off a few times. Rachel even got up with Evan a little before 9 and let me stay in bed but I never got a good sleep.

When Noah got up, Rachel took the boys out to go looking for toddler stuff at garage sales. Unfortunately there weren't many going on.

When they got back we went out the library. Evan and Noah really like going there. I think if Noah could, he'd pull every single book off of every shelf. You really have to watch him.

After the library, we went to Target. Rachel had to return some stuff and exchange some other stuff. I took the boys over to the toy section. There was this two foot high robotic dinosaur toy. It was encased in glass and you pressed a button and it roared and stomped around. Noah thought this was great. He pressed the button over and over. In that same aisle, across from the dinosaur, was all these new Buzz Lightyear toys. Evan was in heaven. He kept grabbing different Buzz Lightyears and saying "look at this kind of Buzz Lightyear". Many times, he'd just grab behind the box he had just grabbed so it was really the same Buzz Lightyear. I guess with Toy Story set to be re-released in October and Toy Story 3 coming out in June, the toys are coming back out.

When we got home we had lunch. Neither boy ate much and so we put them down for naps. They took very good naps.

Noah got up first. He and I were downstairs and I was getting dinner ready for he and Evan and I heard Evan yell from the top of the stairs, "Gallo!!" Noah got a big smile on his face and yelled "Guy...O" back. It was very funny. So pretty soon we're going to have both boys using the word Gallo.

Blanca came over and babysat while we went out for date night. We had dinner at this place in Driftwood called Trattoria Lisina. It was really good. There was an hour wait so we ended up eating at the bar which was kind of neat. The kitchen is open so at the bar we could watch everything going on. We were seated by the dessert people. The food was really good. From there we went down to South Congress to try out the cupcake place called Hey Cupcake! However, even thought it said there hours on Saturday were from 10am to 10pm and it was 9pm, they were closed. Odd. So we went to the crepe place. We enjoyed our crepes.

We are back home and the boys are sleeping, so that's a good sign.

Playgroup and Target

Evan woke up while Morry was getting ready for work, so Morry put a movie on for Evan and fed him breakfast.

This morning we had playgroup. Today’s playgroup was at a house where 2 boys live. Evan and Noah had the best time. They had a lot of boy stuff there. Evan did not want to leave.

After playgroup we went to Target. I was able to get a lot of free stuff (after coupons) and clearance items. It was a successful trip.

For lunch Evan wanted macaroni and cheese. I was a little hesitant to make it, since the last few times we have offered it to him, he hasn’t eaten it. But today, he ate a lot of it. I was glad he had a good lunch. Noah, like always, didn’t eat that much though.

Evan and Noah took nice, long naps this afternoon.

Morry got home around 7pm and we left to go out to dinner. I had one a free meal at Joe’s Crab Shack so we went there. Evan and I shared shrimp and crab. He ate quite a lot. Noah enjoyed the mozzarella sticks appetizer we got.

Before we left the restaurant we went on the patio and looked at the lake and birds on the water.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed.

Evan’s New Teacher

This morning Evan woke up while Morry was still here.

Once Evan and Noah were dressed I took them for a run/walk. I didn’t take Lizzy today. I was worried it might be too hot for her. Last time she seemed pretty hot. I gave the boys cereal and fruit to eat on the run.

When we got home we got ready to go meet the Mom’s club. They were having an outing at an inflatable jumping place called Locomotion. When we pulled up to the building Evan and Noah were very excited to see a painted train on the side of the building. The place was pretty nice. It was very open and you could see pretty much everything. They had a large area with inflatable jumpy castles, ship, houses, slides, etc. There was also a little area with small rooms with themes (animal hospital, grocery store, diner, …). Evan and Noah had a great time. Both of them spent a lot of time on the inflatables.

After Locomotion, we went to Newflower to get a few groceries for the weekend. Evan and Noah got their free cookies at the end of the shopping trip. Both had blue icing all over their faces and hands.

Evan and Noah took good naps, but I had to wake up Evan a little before 4. His new teacher, Mai, was coming over to meet him. Morry was able to come home for the meeting too. At first Evan didn’t talk at all. He showed her his toys downstairs. Then, she had him draw a picture of himself with markers. He did pretty well. You could definitely tell it was a person, and he drew 2 long legs and feet below the head. It was cute.

Morry had to work a little from home after Mai left.

Once he was done working we made dinner. We had crockpot brisket and rice.

After dinner, Morry helped Evan play wii baseball and golf. Noah watched. I finished cleaning the pantry. Whew! It had been a while since the pantry was cleaned. I had to throw out a few expired things. It looks a lot better now.

We just gave Evan and Noah baths and put them to bed.

Tutoring and Dentist

This morning Evan woke up while Morry was still here, so Morry got Evan set up in the gameroom.

Blanca came over at 10am and I tutored from 10:30-11:30. Then, I went to the dentist for a cleaning.

I got home about 1:30.

Around 2:30 I put Evan and Noah down for naps. Noah slept until about 4:30 and Evan until 5:30.

For dinner we made pizza with one of the frozen dough balls we had from Sams Club.

After dinner Morry took Evan and Noah outside while I cleaned and organized another 2 shelves of the pantry. I just have 2 more to go.

We just put the boys to bed. Evan is still up though. He claimed he needed to go to the bathroom.

Bookstore

This morning Evan, Noah, and I went to the vet to drop of Lizzy’s stool sample. Then, I took the boys to Barnes and Noble. I was trying to think of something to do while we were out. I thought they’d enjoy the bookstore. It was too hot to go to the park. Evan and Noah enjoyed playing with the trains.

We came back home and ate lunch. Then, I put Evan and Noah down for naps. They both took really long naps. I put them down around 1:30-2. Noah slept until 4:30 and Evan until 5:30.

For dinner we had hamburgers and salad.

After dinner Morry played with Evan and Noah and I started cleaning the pantry. I got 2 shelves cleaned and organized.

We just gave Evan and Noah baths and put them to bed.

Too Hot for the Ipod

This morning Evan woke up at 7:10am and Noah woke up around 9am. I took the boys and Lizzy for a run. It was pretty hot outside. I was going to run 3 miles, but at 1.5 miles I stopped and decided to just walk the rest of the way. On they way back my Ipod turned off and I got a temperature warning symbol. I turned back on later, but I guess it was too hot for the Ipod. Maybe it’s trying to tell me something? It will be nice when it cools down a little bit here (but not too much).

Evan and Noah did not eat much for lunch. I quickly ate a salad before Blanca arrived. Blanca came at 12:30 and I tutored from 1pm – 3pm. School starts next week and one of the families wanted me to tutor their kids this week. The girl going into high school actually has a summer book report due the second day of school.

When I got home Evan and Noah were napping. They both took good naps.

When Morry got home he brought in a big box. I had won a Macaroni Grill gift basket thing that arrived today. I entered the contest on a blog a while ago. We got 4 dinner, a colander, a pasta spoon, and a cheese grater.

For dinner we made Panko Chicken and Basmati rice.

After dinner we went to Sams Club to pick up a few things. When we got home Blanca and Rita were outside. We talked to them for a little bit while the boys played with chalk. Somehow Evan got chalk all over Noah’s face.

We just put the boys to bed.

Sunday Starbucks

This morning Riley came over at 9:45am. Evan woke up early and Noah got up a little before Riley got here. Morry and I went to Starbucks. Morry had a donut and smoothie. I had a coffee and yogurt parfait. It was nice sitting there and relaxing a little bit. When we got home we did a bunch around the house while we still had Riley there. Morry unpacked the boys’ clothes while I boxed up baby stuff to put in the attic. Morry got all the boxes and baby stuff (swing, exersaucer, etc) in the attic just in time for Riley’s mom to come and pick her up.

We ate lunch with Evan and Noah and then put them down for naps. They both slept well.

After naps we went to HEB. It was very crowded. Usually, we try to avoid grocery shopping on Sunday, but we desperately needed food in the house.

For dinner we made bacon wrapped pork tenderloin (already prepared and skewered) and couscous.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed.

Guy-yo! GUY-YO!!!!

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, I had made a vet appointment for Lizzy. It's time for her annual checkup. Evan always asks me to come to the vet when I've been taking Mottel, but that will be too hard, especially during the week. But on the weekend, it's easier as is with Lizzy. So Evan, Lizzy and I piled into the car and drove to the vet. Evan insisted on wearing his Steelers helmet and one Buzz Lightyear glove. He also insisted on wearing it into the office. The people there thought Evan was so cute. They were gushing over him. Also, they love Lizzy there. They ended up spending an hour with us talking with us, and playing with Lizzy and Evan. Oh, and they examined Lizzy. Lizzy was in great health as we knew. The only problem is they found a lump on her side. It was very squishy. They took a sample of it, and it's just fat. I guess it's common with golden retrievers to get a large fatty build up. The problem is that it's 5.5 cm in diameter, so it's quite large. They said that it doesn't hurt the dog but if it keeps getting bigger than it has to be surgically removed. So they want to see her in 3-6 months to see how much bigger it gets. Unfortunately, it's best to do it now because if it takes several years to get bigger, than she'll be too old to have it removed. Man, pets are expensive. We will be accepting donations to the Belkin Pet Foundation.

After the vet, we came home and picked Noah up. Rachel was going to lunch with an old teacher friend. So, Evan, Noah and I went to the library. I had a book on hold and I needed to return two books. We picked out two books and two movies for the boys. Evan and Noah had a good time running around. When we went to check out, I asked for the book I had on hold. Now the books on hold are self-service in the back of the library. I didn't realize that. So I had to go to the back of the library to get my book. I told Evan to follow me, but I guess he didn't. As most of you know, Evan calls me Gallo. Well, I was looking for my book and I started to hear "Guy-yo! GUY-YO!" across the library. So I said "I'm back here". Then more "GUY-YO! WHERE ARE YOU GUY-YO?!" I could hear him moving around the library. I wonder what people thought about me responding to Gallo.

We came home and I got lunch for the boys. Rachel came home a little while later and we put the boys down for a nap.

After naps, Circle C was having the 1st Annual BBQ Cookoff. It was just for Circle C residents. They had games for kids, a train, vendors giving out free stuff. We met a co-worker there and her husband and 8-month old twins. There was this blow-up obstacle course, like the a moon bounce. But you had to push through things, crawl through tunnels, climb over two big blow-up walls. Evan did it twice. He was terrific. To get over the walls, they had to pull themselves up a rope. Man, that kid has some upper body strength.

From there we went to dinner at Cannoli Joes. It's an all-you-can-eat Italian place. Kids 3 and under eat free. Evan and Noah both ate well. At one point, I gave Noah some goldfish we had brought. Noah was swinging his napkin around so I put my hand over his goldfish so he wouldn't knock them on the floor. Noah, fearing that I was taking them, put his napkin down and smacked my hand. Noah is definitely a character. He's got a lot of personality.

We went home after dinner and now the boys are in bed.

As if this post wasn't long enough, Rachel asked me to recap the Seattle trip. I'll try to make it as brief as possible and touch on the highlights.

The plane ride to Seattle was uneventful, other than Noah not sitting still. We got there and met Mike and Jen for dinner.

The next day we went on a ferry to Bainbridge Island. The boys both enjoyed the ferry although Evan didn't like to be in the cold. It was very cloudy out and the wind was really blowing. Evan kept asking to come out of the cold. Noah didn't see to mind. That night, Uncle Billy, Aunt Donna and Leslie joined us for dinner, as did Mike and Jen. We ordered pizza. After pizza we told the boys we were going for ice cream. Noah got so excited and thought we were going to eat at home. He went over and picked up his booster seat, which was on the floor and tried to put it on one of the chairs while yelling "i-eee, i-eee" (that's how he says ice cream). It was really cute.

The next day we went to the Locks and saw boats and a drawbridge and we saw salmon going up the salmon stairs. The boys loved it. At night, we went to seafood place and Evan shared crab with Rachel.

Sunday we went to a beach and had a picnic out there. Jen's brother, Chris, his wife Angie and their 2.5 year old Cooper met us there. Evan and Cooper played well together. The boys loved being on the beach. We then went on an "ice cream cruise". It's a cruise around Lake Union where they serve ice cream. Evan and Cooper sat together eating popsicles at a bar table. They looked like old buddies sitting there together. I went over and they were having some conversation about pigs and if pigs lived in grass or mud. It was hilarious. That night, the boys stayed with Grandma, Papa, Mike and Jen while Rachel and I went out with my college friend Nick and his girlfriend for dinner. Apparently the boys had a great time and Mike and Jen made shrimp for them. Mike sang the "Evan song" while Evan and Noah danced. The "Evan song" is a song that Evan makes Mike sing all the time that Mike makes up on the spot.

Monday we went down to Seattle Center, saw a fountain, put the boys on two rides and then took the monorail down to Pikes Place Market. Noah slept in the stroller the whole time at the market. Evan enjoyed it. For dinner, Rachel's old friend from elementary school and her boyfriend met us at a Thai place. Noah had a massive blowout that required Rachel, Papa and me to clean up.

Tuesday we walked around Green Lake and Nick met us. For dinner we went back to the beach we had a picnic at and got a pit to roast marshmallows. We picked up some Cuban food from a little place by there before we roasted marshmallows and made s'mores. Again the boys loved it on the beach.

Wednesday, we ate a really cook Greek restaurant in Capitol Hill called Vios. they had a playarea for kids. From there we saw the Fremont Troll and then went to Gasworks Park. For dinner, we met Nick at a pizza place.

It was a very enjoyable trip and the boys really enjoyed themselves. They got to see all kinds of things they had never seen.

Until next time...

Dog Park

This morning Evan slept until about 8:45 and Noah slept until almost 11am. I was so glad they both slept well.

This morning I took Evan, Noah, and Lizzy to the dog park. I was trying to think of something fun that all of them would enjoy. I packed up some food for us to eat there. It had been a while since we were at the dog park. Lizzy definitely remembered it. As soon as we got to the parking lot she started whining.

We walked around the park. Evan and I threw the ball to Lizzy in the water. We stopped at one point and sat on a bench to eat snacks.

On the way home the boys ate more snacks and then at home they had popsicles.

Evan and Noah both took naps this afternoon, but at different times. I put them both down around 1:30. Noah went to sleep right away. Evan played in his room and was making noise. Finally, around 3:30 Evan had fallen asleep at his gate. I was about to take a nap when Noah woke up and started making noise.

We went to Abuelo’s for dinner. We had a coupon. If you sign up for the Abuelo's email list, you'll get a coupon for a free entree (when you buy another entree and 2 drinks). Evan and Noah were very good at the restaurant.

We just gave the boys baths and put them to bed. Let’s hope they sleep well tonight.

Kevin’s House and Our House

This morning Evan woke up early and Morry started a movie for him in the gameroom.

Blanca was coming at 10 so I planned on running with the boys before she came. Evan was being a pain, so it was taking me a long time to get everything ready for the run and stroller. I ended up not having time to run before Blanca got here. I just ran by myself after she came. I ran 3 miles. It was really hot out.

When I got back I took Evan over to Yenis and Kevin’s house. Evan and Kevin played for about an hour. My plan was to take Evan to his school to drop off some papers and then CVS. We got in the car and he started throwing a fit. He kept saying he wanted something to eat in the diaper bag. He just had fruit at Kevin’s house. Then he was screaming that he wanted a fruit snack, but I was driving. He was crying and kicking. I decided to drop him off at home and then go back out. I felt bad leaving him with Blanca like that, but I had stuff to get done. Evan was trying to climb over the gate to the laundry room when I was leaving. Blanca said she tried to offer him lunch but he didn’t want to eat.

When I got back I made Evan lunch, though he didn’t eat much. I put Evan and Noah down for naps. Noah napped. I think Evan may have napped some too. It was quiet for a little bit.

Oh, I got another free thing to try out today. I was sent a PUR Water Filter Pitcher with Flavor Cartridge to try out. I’ll use it over the next few weeks and then write a review for that too.

On the way home Morry got a haircut.

For dinner we made chicken satay with orange rice.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed. Let’s hope they sleep well.

Employee of the Month

This morning Evan was up at 7am.

Once Noah got up and I got the boys dressed we went for a run. I did 2 miles again. While I was running a police car went by. We waved and the policeman waved back. Evan was very excited.

Riley came over from 10-12. Noah was great! He didn’t cry at all. I think it helped that Evan was there. While Riley was here I ran out to HEB to get a few things.

For lunch, I made myself a spinach salad from a cookbook I got for free. I’m starting to get free things to try out because of the Cha Ching Queen blog. The book I got is Simply Salads. I told the author I would try out a few recipes and then write a review. The spinach salad and dressing were really good. I tried giving Evan some salad, but he didn’t touch it.

After lunch I put the boys down for naps. Noah napped, but Evan didn’t.

For dinner, I made the Thai Beef Salad. I though it was good too and tasted like a real Thai salad. Morry seemed to like it as well.

Oh, and…Good news! Morry was named Employee of Month at work. I told him we needed to celebrate after dinner. We were trying to think of something fun to do with 2 small boys. We decided to go bowling. Before we left we called the bowling alley to see how crowded they were. There were league games tonight and they had a long wait. It was a good thing we called. Next choice? We thought we’d play mini golf. We called there and they said they weren’t very crowded.

Evan did well at first, but by the end he was getting kind of tired and was not behaving. Noah enjoyed crawling on all the obstacles. There was one loop-de-loop thing. Evan was able to hit his ball around it and just by chance it went through Noah’s legs on the way out.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed, but we just heard Evan moving around upstairs.

Running and not much else

We didn’t do much today. This morning Evan woke up around 7:25 (late for him). I put on a movie for him.

When Noah got up I took the boys and Lizzy for a run. I ran about 2 miles.

When we got back I took Evan and Noah in the backyard and gave them haircuts, well, really just trims. Their hair was getting poofy.

For lunch Evan and Noah didn’t eat much. I put them down for naps pretty much right after we finished lunch. Evan and Noah took good naps.

For dinner we had spaghetti and then ran over to Target. Morry needed to get a case for his phone. Evan and Noah enjoyed walking/running around the store.

On the way home we stopped at Redbox in front of HEB. Today, if you use coupon code 27HZ4KT you get a free movie rental.

We just put Evan and Noah to bed, but Evan is still up. He just went potty. Morry went upstairs to put him back to bed.

A Day About Nothing

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

For the most part, we did absolutely nothing today. It started out as most mornings have with Evan getting us up. Rachel set him up in the gameroom with watching a movie we got for him on Netflix - Space Buddies. About an hour later he came back in and wanted something to eat so I got him some food. I laid back down and slept for another hour until he came back and got me up for good.

He and I came downstairs and played some. Noah then got up and the three of us played downstairs. Evan said he was hungry again so I asked if he wanted pancakes. At this time it was close to noon.

I'm not a big fan of pancake mixes, I prefer it from scratch so I started making the pancakes when Rachel came downstairs. I was going to make Evan a pancake shaped in as an 'E' but I wasn't able to do that. I put blueberries in his pancake and Noah's. I put maple syrup on my pancakes but Rachel puts powdered sugar and Evan did too. He really enjoyed it. He wanted another but I hadn't made any more blueberry pancakes.

A little while later, we put the boys down for a nap. Unfortunately Evan didn't sleep.

For dinner, I made chicken fried rice. At first, we discovered Rachel had started the steamer without plugging it in, something I have done previously. Evan and Noah were in the kitchen when I discovered this. Evan put his hand on Noah's back and said "Noah, let's got outta here." That actually made me laugh.

During dinner, Evan told us he had to go to the bathroom. We said he could go himself. He walked past Noah, who had already eaten and was now playing on the floor, and said "come on Noah, let's go." Noah stopped what he was doing got up and followed Evan to the bathroom. It was very cute.

We gave the boys baths and Noah is in bed. I think I hear Evan walking around upstairs.

Until next time...

The AC

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Last night, we realized that our thermostat downstairs was blank. It is not battery operated so I went around trying to figure out if I could fix it. I flipped the breakers in the house, outside the house. I took off the thermostat downstairs and brought it upstairs and put it on the upstairs one and it worked. Then I brought the upstairs one downstairs and it didn't work so I knew there was something electrical. We called the AC people last night to schedule a call. We were told that they'd call back "in 5 to 10 minutes" but we didn't hear from them.

So, of course, at 7:30am, they called back. Rachel and I were going to try to sleep, but Evan then knew we were awake. The guy had me go up in the attic and make sure the switch to the furnace hadn't been flipped. I told him no one had been up there, but he said that "coons" could be in the attic. The switch to the furnace was on.

We got downstairs and Rachel made Evan green eggs and ham. I had to go into work for an hour or so to help buy tickets to the AC/DC concert in Austin. That's one of the ways we get our tickets to sell. I think all of us were able to buy over 100 tickets.

When I got home, Rachel said that Evan and Noah had been tough. Noah requires a lot of attention. If you aren't watching him, he'll go into the fridge. He's figure out the door things so he can get into the office downstairs and play with the printer or he can open the bathroom door. In a matter of seconds he will almost always be into something that you don't want him playing with. He's quick. I guess he had been getting into a ton of stuff while Rachel was making some phone calls to cancel with Verizon once and for all.

After lunch we put the boys down for naps. Since both boys got up early, they really needed naps and both went down without a fight. They both slept a long time.

The AC guy finally showed up after we put the boys down for out naps. He was very nice and was able to fix it fairly quickly. Apparently, some animal chewed on the copper wires outside and that cause a short which blew the transformer in the attic. We needed a new wire outside and a new transformer.
For dinner, we went to Alborz. Both boys really like it there. Evan loves tabouli. He kept calling it "chipotle" like the restaurant (or I guess the Mexican-style of food). He ate a ton of it. He also ate the Persian flatbread. Noah also did very well. He doesn't eat much these days but he ate very well.

On our way home, we stopped at Petco. Lizzy needed food and that's where they sell it. Both Evan and Noah get so excited when we go there. They love looking at the fish, the mice, the birds, and the guinea pigs. Noah was walking as fast as he could. When he walks fast, he gets this determined look on his face. It's really cute.

Both boys are in bed right now.

Until next time...
