Christmas Lights

Today, it was drizzling in the morning, but then cleared up a little bit, so I went for a run.  Halfway, it started pouring down rain.  Of course, when I got home the rain stopped.

Reid's family picked up Evan around lunchtime.  They picked up lunch and then went to the baseball card store.  Evan has been hanging out with Reid all day and will spend the night at his house tonight.

For dinner we had leftover steak.

Then, Morry, Noah, Chewie, and I drove around looking at Christmas lights.

We dropped Chewie off and then went to H-E-B.

We just got home a little after 10pm.

Tucson, Christmas, Grandma's Birthday

We went to Tucson from Saturday through Wednesday.   It was a bittersweet trip since Zayde was no longer there, but we had a good time being with family.   And, one day, we met my friend, Holly, for a hike.

This was our first Christmas home in many years.  Hardly any restaurants were open, so we made dinner at home.  Then, we watch the new Wonder Woman movie at home.

We spent the afternoon today doing some cleaning and organizing. We brought everything down from the attic.

Today was Grandma's birthday.  Papa picked up an early dinner for all of us from Troy and we ate outside in their backyard.  Chewie came with us and we all had a nice time.

Then, Morry and I went to H-E-B.

Here are some pictures from the last week.

Sad Week

On Friday, Jack/Zayde went into the hospital with health issues made worse from COVID.

On Saturday and Monday, Morry and his siblings were able to have FaceTime calls with him to say goodbye.

Jack passed away, peacefully on Tuesday, December 15.

It's still hard to believe he's gone.

We still plan to go to Tucson to visit with Morry's siblings.

The rest of this week has been pretty busy. Evan has had finals and I've been teaching and tutoring.

Today, Noah had his Hebrew session with Grandma.

Here are a few pictures of Jack that I really like.

Two Dinners

Last night Evan spent the night at Reid's house.

Morry and I took a short walk, late morning.  It was drizzling during our walk, but shortly after returning home the sun came out.

Morry picked up Evan and Reid after lunch and they went to Dick's Sporting Goods to test out and buy a baseball bat.  Evan found and bought one that he really liked.

Around 5:00 we went to Grandma and Papa's house and met in their backyard for a short Hanukkah get-together.  We had planned to light candles together, but it was too windy.

From there we went to H-E-B.

Noah wanted Fire Bowl for dinner.  I'm not a big fan, so I chose to get a meal from Mad Greens in the same shopping center.

Evan wanted a meal from both places.  He got food at Fire Bowl and a big salad at Mad Greens.

We came home, unpacked the groceries, and then ate our dinner.  Evan at both dinners and had more food later on in the night.

Morry and Evan watched the Steelers game tonight.

Then, Morry and I watch an episode of Ghosts.

One more week until break

I typically don't tutor on Friday mornings, so it was nice being able to take my time getting out of the house.

During my break at school, I ran some errands.

Then, after school, I ran more errands.

I went shopping for a Secret Santa gift exchange at my school.  Then, I went to the vet to pick up cat food and the pharmacy to pick up my medicine.

For dinner, we picked up food from Cypress Grill.

Evan has assignments that are due at midnight tonight, so I helped him some this afternoon with his math and getting organized.  Morry is helping him now with his computer class.

Our Week So Far

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Monday was a normal day.  After school ended, I took the boys to get their hair cut.  For dinner, I made orange chicken and white rice.  When we finished dinner, I took Evan to TRPD for a hitting lesson.

On Tuesday, we had our trees trimmed and some trees removed.  The guys got to the house at 8am.  Rachel took Chewie over to Grandma and Papa's.  We had one tree removed that was sort of in the middle of the yard and a few scrawny trees in the back corner.  Other than that, we just had the trees trimmed properly.  We hadn't done it in 3 or 4 years.  Evan had baseball practice in the evening.

On Wednesday, the tree trimmers were back to finish up.  They were done by about 10am.  After school, I took Evan to TRPD.  He's running practice for catchers for the younger teams.  He coaches 2 kids every 30 minutes.  Rachel picked him up after tutoring.

Today, we had a pretty laid back day.  Rachel taught in the morning.  After school, I took Noah worked with Grandma on Hebrew.  I took Evan and met Josiah and his dad, John at Marucci Clubhouse.  We stopped at HEB on the way home and got ground beef for Chewie for his Hanukkah gift.  We lit the candles for the first night of Hanukkah and Chewie and the boys got their gifts.  Chewie loved the raw ground beef.  The boys each got t-shirts.  For dinner, we had flank steaks and potatoes.

We're about to sit down to watch some TV.

Until next time...

Morry Went Golfing

This morning, Morry met some friends at 9am and went golfing.  It sounded like they had a great time.  He was on the winning team and the losing team had to buy lunch for everyone.

While he was gone I dropped Evan off at Reid's house and then took Chewie for a walk.

We picked up Evan from Reid's house around 5:30.

The plan was to take the boys to get haircuts then, but Great Clips was closed for the day.

We went to H-E-B and then picked up Torchy's for dinner.

Hike with Chewie

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today Evan began off-season throwing and hitting training at TRPD.  It's basically a way to stay in shape and get ready for high school baseball tryouts.  It was at the facility in Lakeway at 9am.  So Rachel and I decided to take him and then go hiking on the Hamilton Greenbelt in Lakeway with Chewie.

On the way out to the facility, we stopped at Donut Taco Palace.  Evan got two donuts and Rachel got a taco.  On the hike, Chewie was just so happy.  It was cold this morning (in the 40s) so no one was out hiking and it felt like, at times, we had the whole trail system to ourselves.  Chewie was in his element.  He loves to hike on trails and he especially likes it when it's not hot.  We hiked for close to an hour and a half.  Chewie never got tired.

Then we drove to pick Evan up.  It took Evan some time to be ready, but Chewie was happy to see Evan when he got in the car.

On the way home, we stopped at Black Rock Coffee where Rachel got a coffee, Evan and I got smoothies, and Noah got a lemonade.  While we were in the drive thru picking up the drinks, Chewie pushed through and was standing on the middle console between Rachel and me so he could see the woman working at the drive thru.  She gave him a dog treat.  He was really happy.

We relaxed most of the afternoon.

Late in the afternoon, we had an arborist come by to give us an estimate on trimming our trees.

For dinner, we picked up Via 313 for Rachel and me and Subway for the boys.

Rachel is now making fudge.

Until next time...

Busy Wednesday

This morning I Zoom tutored and then went to school.

During my break, I walked at the park.

I got home around 2:30 and had a little bit of time to rest before my tutoring started.

I Zoom tutored for two hours and then left to go to my one in-person tutoring.

While I was Zoom tutoring, Morry took Evan to TRPD.  He was asked to help coach there tonight.

We all got home around the same time, a little after 8pm.

Morry ordered pizzas for us and they should be here soon.

Dentist and Finished Office

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Noah had a dentist appointment first thing.  We needed to get the tooth removed that was causing the abscess.  We left the house around 7:15.  The actual extraction only took 10-20 minutes.  Most of that time was cleaning out the infection around where Noah's tooth had been.  Apparently the baby tooth should have come out and it didn't come out so the tooth was dying and causing issues.  We were home by 9am.

When I got home the contractor was finishing up my office as well as the transition from the family room into the kitchen and the backsplash.  I worked in the morning from the dining room.  By lunch, they had fully finished and I was able to move back into my office.  Below is a picture of the office.  I still need to hang pictures and put in the filing cabinet behind my desk with the printer.

Rachel came home after lunch.  Then she went for a run.

I had a meeting to end the day while Rachel tutored over the computer.

For dinner, I made grilled chicken.  I marinated the chicken breasts with olive oil, lemon zest, oregano, thyme, garlic, salt and pepper.  It was good.

The boys are upstairs playing on the Playstation.

Until next time...
