Weekend of Grandmom

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Saturday around lunchtime, Grandmom came in.  We got to see Matt and Rachael and the kids that afternoon.  Evan had an event for TRPD at Jumpstreet which is a trampoline place.  He had a good time.

Yesterday, the boys convinced Grandmom to go to Top Golf.  We were able to play two games there which was something new.  We had a good time.  All of us played well, though Grandmom just cheered us on.

In the evening, we watched the Texas-Notre Dame game on TV.

Today, we took Grandmom to Alamo Drafthouse for her first time.  We saw the movie Pete's Dragon.  Rachel had already seen it so she didn't come.  Both boys liked it but it seemed Evan really enjoyed it.

For dinner, we made fajitas on the grill along with corn on the cob.  Deborah, Grandma and Papa came over.  For dessert, Rachel made chocolate chip cookies.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Bat Mitzvah Weekend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Friday, just before lunch, my cousin Allison, her daughter Avery and Grandmom flew into Austin for Molly's Bat Mitzvah.  I picked them up at the airport.  We went to Torchy's Tacos for lunch.

Avery hung out with Noah in the afternoon while Allison, Rachel and I picked Evan up from school.

Allison, Grandmom and I went to Friday night services for Molly.  Rachel bought the boys and Avery to the dinner at Matt and Rachael's house after dinner.

Saturday morning, we went to the Bat Mitzvah.  Molly did a wonderful job.  Her voice was good, she read well, she projected and she was confident.

After the Bat Mitzvah, we decided to show Allison and Avery some of Austin.  Rachel, Evan and I took Allison and Avery to Lady Bird Lake to walk around.  We brought Lizzy.  It was cold and windy but we had a nice time walking.  Evan and Avery enjoyed each other's company.

We stopped at Pho Thai Son on the way home and got spring rolls as a snack.

The party on Saturday night was at a place called Main Event.  They have indoor miniature golf, bowling, rock climbing, laser tag and video games.  The kids had a really good time.  Both boys climbed the rock walls.  They had a good time at laser tag and mini golf.  I watched the Steelers game in the party room.

We didn't get home until nearly Midnight.  Allison, Avery and Grandmom had to be taken to the airport around 6:30 in the morning.  Evan insisted on coming with us as I drove.

I went back to sleep when I came home, but Evan stayed up.

We watched the Vikings-Seahawks game in the afternoon.  Then the boys and I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.  Evan fell asleep in the middle of it.

Grandma and Papa are on the way over.  They picked up Chinese food for us for dinner.  Evan is still sleeping.

Until next time....

Grandmom

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Grandmom came in to visit this weekend.  She was supposed to get in on Friday night but plane delays caused her to have to stay in Dallas overnight.  She came in early Saturday morning.

She was able to come to Evan's football game after that.  We then did a bit of shopping in the afternoon.  She bought Lego sets for the boys.

Late last night, Evan got a call to fill in for a baseball team today.

We stayed home in the morning then drove out and ate at Subway before the game.  Evan played in just the first game.  He played catcher and threw a runner out trying to steal third.

For dinner, we met Matt, Rachael, Tristian, Maddie and Max at the County Line BBQ.  The food service was very very slow.

The boys are showering now.

Until next time...

Big Weekend and Evan's Birthday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

On Thursday night, Grandmom flew in.  Friday the boys didn't have school.  Noah had a playdate.  Before that, we went to Wholy Bagel.  For dinner, we met Matt, Rachael, Max, Tristian, and Maddie at Phil's Ice House.  It was a nice time.

Yesterday the Bucs had a one-day tournament.  Evan and I left the house at 7am and stopped at the bank and then went to Donut Taco Palace.  We got to the fields at 8.  The first game was at night.  In the first game, after one inning we were winning 3-2.  We broke it open in the bottom of the second with 4 runs.  Evan came in to pitch the third inning.  He walked the first batter he faced, then struck the next two batters out and got a weak grounder to end the inning.  He got the first batter out in the fourth, walked the second batter and then got the next two out to end the inning.  The Bucs ended up winning the game.

We had a bit of a break and played the second game.  This one wasn't as close.  The Bucs took this one easily.  Evan walked several times and stole several bases.  He played catcher for most of the game.  He did well.  By going 2-0 in a one-day tournament, the Bucs were assured of a spot in the championship.

We had a bit of a break and played the championship.  After the first inning, we were winning 3-0.  In the top of the second, we broke it open with 20 runs.  That's right, 2-0.  After we had batted around, we stopped having the kids steal.  We never took more than one base on any hit, even if the ball rolled to the wall.  The other team just got down and they started making really bad mistakes.  It was tough.  We tried to be good winners.  After the game, the boys from the other team were smiling and the Bucs got gold championship rings.  The boys were really happy.  Evan asked to play another game.  We didn't get home until 7:05 pm, twelve hours from when we left the house.

Today was Evan's Birthday.  He wanted to go to Top Golf, so we went there for brunch.  Evan was even better than when we went on Noah's Birthday.  He scored a 106, increasing his score by nearly 33%.  From there we went to Rita's because we had a free Rita's water ice coupon for Evan. Evan really wanted to go there.

We stayed home in the afternoon, though Noah went to a friend's for a easter egg hunt.  Then we went to Rudy's for dinner.  Evan enjoyed the brisket.  He wanted to go to TCBY for dessert.

The boys are in their beds now.

Until next time...

Grandmom Is Here

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Around 2 or 3 in the morning we had an incident with the smoke detector.  When the battery goes low, it beeps once every 30 seconds.  It freaks Lizzy out.  This time it was in Noah's room.  Somehow Noah slept through it but I got a ladder and Rachel got a battery and I changed it.  I think we could have slept through it but Lizzy was so upset by the sound she would not have let us sleep.

Evan got up early and began playing Wii.

When I got up I did some work and then I had to run over to HEB to get a few things.  Noah came with me but Evan stayed at home playing Wii.

At 1:15, the boys and I left to go pick up Grandmom from the airport.

We stayed at home in the afternoon.  At one point, Evan and I went outside and played baseball.

Matt, Rachael and Max came over later in the afternoon.  Rachael and Max went in the backyard with Evan and Noah and played some baseball.

For dinner, we went to BurgerFi.  They have a cool soda machine where you can mix sodas.  The boys liked it.

We came home and the boys are now in bed.

Until next time...

Champions

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Noah's championship game was set for 9:30 this morning.  We were supposed to be there between 8:30 and 8:45.  I woke Noah up at 7:30 and got him ready.  He woke up easily but then was kind of cranky as we were going to leave.  I just think he was tired.  I woke Evan up as well because he wanted to come with us.

On the way over, we stopped at Donut Taco Palace I.

When we got there, Noah's coach, Mario, and a couple of the fathers/coaches discussed the lineup.  Mario had made two lineups.  One was a departure from what he had been doing and one was pretty much what he had used throughout the playoffs.  The championship game format is much different which is why Mario was considering the different lineups.  All games up until the championship are timed at one hour.  As I mentioned yesterday, a half-inning ends when 5 runs are scored or 3 outs are recorded, whichever comes first.  The championship game is 6 innings, untimed.  The way a half-inning ends is still the same.  Each coach is required to play every kid in the infield at least in the first three innings.  In the end, we went with the same lineup.

After the first inning, Noah's team was winning 5-4.  Noah knocked in the 5th run that inning.  After two, the score was 10-9, again with Noah's team in the lead.  In the third, Noah batted 2nd and got a hit.  He came around to score.  At the end of 3, it was 15-12.  Noah's team held the other team scoreless in the 4th and Noah's team scored 4.  So after 4, it was 19-12.  Jack, Evan's friend, almost single-handedly held the other team to no runs.  After a leadoff single, Jack caught a pop up playing in the pitching position and raced over to first and tagged it for the double play.  The next batter grounded to Jack's left.  Jack fielded it and ran and touched first base for the third out.  In the top of the fifth, the other team scored 4 to make the score 19-16.  While the game was scheduled for 6 innings, if Noah's team scored 3 runs, the game would end since it would be 22-16 and there would be no way for the other team to come back.  Noah led off the inning but grounded out to the pitcher.  That's the only time all year he hit the ball to the pitcher.  The next boy singled followed by another ground out.  The next boy singled scoring the first run of the inning.  The next boy up grounded to the pitcher.  It looked like a sure out.  The pitcher threw the ball to the first baseman perfectly.  As if in slow motion the ball went right into the first baseman's glove, rolled around for a bit and just fell to the ground, and the runner was safe.  Jack came to the plate with the game-sealing run on first base.  He hit a really hard low line drive that dropped between third base and shortstop and rolled all the way to the fence.  Jack wound up with a walk-off triple.  All the older kids raced out knowing what happened.  We had to tell some of the younger kids to get out there and celebrate.  It was a good time.

Following lots of pictures and the trophy presentations, the kids celebrated with a pinata.  Evan, who originally seemed happy started getting more and more jealous and ended making things really really difficult.  I think he was really jealous of his brother and his friend.  Especially since this was the team that ended Evan's season a year ago.

Rachel went to tutor and we came home.  I made lunch for Noah, but Evan said he wasn't hungry.  Noah played Wii for a while and Evan and I went out and played a bit of baseball.

When Rachel got home, the boys and I left to go to Matt and Rachael's house.  In the month of May, Matt, Rachael and Maddie have birthdays so we went to celebrate.  The boys immediately disappeared playing Legos with Ben.

We left later and met Rachel at Carino's for dinner.  Noah was in a bad mood most of dinner making it difficult.

Rachel stopped at Petco to get food for Lizzy on the way home and I stopped at Walmart to pick up some Wii Remotes.

When we came home, the boys showered and we put them to bed.

Until next time...

The Podbers

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This Saturday was the first Saturday since December that we were home and didn't have any game or practice for any sport.  Rachel and I used that time to sleep in.  It was nice not having anywhere that we had to be.

When I got up, Evan and Noah were downstairs playing with Grandmom and her iPad/iPhone.  They told me that Evan wanted another Lego.  The one he got yesterday was not really something you could play with after you built it.  I said Evan could get another one.

While Rachel ran on the treadmill, we went to the mall to go to the Lego store.  It was packed in the store, but Evan eventually picked out what he wanted.  On the way home, we picked up Wendy's for Grandmom and me.

At home, Evan and Noah started to build the Lego while we got lunch ready for them.

In the afternoon, I worked some while the boys played with Legos.

Around 4pm, Matt and his family all came over.  All seven of the Podbers were there.  As soon as they walked in, Evan ran over and gave Ben a hug.  Evan, Noah and Ben started playing with Legos and eventually went upstairs.  Tristian, Maddie, and Molly took Max outside.  Molly ended upstairs with Ben and Evan while Noah came downstairs.

For dinner, we went to Carino's.  Evan, Noah, Ben and Molly sat together.  There was lots and lots of laughing going on.  They all ate well.

We came home and the boys had dessert.  We're getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Garage Sale

Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Today we had a garage sale. It occupied most of our day.  Rachel and I planned to get up at 5:45 to start moving things out.  However, she had trouble sleeping thinking about all the stuff we had to do.  She got up at 5:20 and started getting ready.

I got up at our scheduled time and promptly began to help.  We started bringing things outside and placing them on the driveway.  We had a ton of stuff.  Evan got up as he heard all the commotion and helped us as well.

The scheduled time for the garage sale was 8am but the first people came at 7am.  We were still setting up even then.  We had planned to sell sodas, juice boxes and popcorn.  I was still setting that up when people came.  Also we planned to sell our old mattress and we hadn't gotten those out.

We had people come all the way until about 1pm.  It was a very long day.  The boys came out with us. Evan played with a neighbor boy for a while.  Noah stayed with us.  All in all, we made more than $400 selling old baby toys and clothes.  There were things that I never thought would sell but ended up selling.  Alternately, there were things I was sure would sell that didn't sell.

We still had quite a bit left at the end.  Right now it's all in our garage.  We're trying to decide what to do next.  We may have another garage sale in the spring when they have a neighborhood-wide garage sale for Circle C.

We came in and cleaned up.  Rachel and I each had showers and then we left to go to Matt and Rachael's.  They had a little party for Molly for her 9th birthday.  Ben opened the door for us.  I don't think that Evan and Ben said anything to each other.  They just looked at each other, nodded, and went into Ben's room to play Lego's.  Noah stayed out with us.  After some food, at one point, Noah and Max tried to have a catch.  I think that Noah liked being the big kid.  Then Ben and Evan were having a light saber duel and Max got a light saber and joined in.  It was really cute.  Evan was really good with Max.  All the kids really had a good time tonight.

We came home and the boys had some food. Now they are in bed.

Until next time...

Absolute Joy

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Everyone is back from Dallas now.  So let me give a recap of what has happened:

Thursday:
Evan and I drove up to Dallas for the funeral.  When Evan saw Noah, he picked Noah up and hugged him.  He completely ignored Rachel.  The funeral services were very nice and the amount of people who came showed what an impact that Shirley had made.

Friday:
I worked from Dallas in the morning.  I went with Rachel to the oncologist for a normal checkup.  Everything was fine.  Then Evan and I drove back to Dallas.  Traffic was tough as it was graduation for UT on Saturday.

Saturday:
Evan had another playoff game.  Unfortunately, the team lost.  Evan was in a bad mood most of the day. I think he was over tired from a very tough week.  In the late afternoon/evening we went to Matt and Rachael's for Matt's birthday.  Rachel took Noah swimming in Dallas and there was another service on Saturday night.

Sunday:
I took Evan to the field at Clayton and pitched to him for about 45 minutes.  We used balls as opposed to wiffle balls.  He did pretty well.  Then he went over to his friend Daniel's house.  Daniel is a boy from the baseball team who lives around the corner.  He was there for a couple hours.  Then I picked Evan up and took him to the new pool.  Daniel and his family met us there so Evan played more with Daniel at the pool.  They were in the pool for an hour and a half.  We got Little Caesar's for dinner.  Rachel and Noah were at Bubbe's helping clean up the house.

Today:
I took Evan to school as normal.  He was good this morning.  Rachel drove home from Dallas with Noah and Lizzy.  They got home in time to pick Evan up from school.  I took the boys to tennis while Rachel tutored.  The boys did well there again.  Noah did very well.  Afterwards the coach said to me that it was an "absolute joy" watching Noah play tennis and how much he enjoyed it.  When we got home, we walked to Jack's house.  I had picked up the trophy from the baseball season after the game on Saturday.  Jack had left by that point.  We came home and I made dinner for the boys and got dinner ready for Rachel and me for when she got home.

The boys are now in bed but not sleeping.

Until next time...

Saturday and Sunday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Again I was delinquent in writing the blog.  Again, I was doing work last night until late.

Yesterday, when the boys got up, they woke Grandmom up so they could get her iPad and iPhone.  I could hear Evan yelling and cheering with excitement as he played with the games on the phone.

I went over with the father of one of Evan's friends to sign him up for tee ball.  We were trying to get the two boys on the same team for this year.  Additionally, there is a third boy from Evan's class who wants to play with Evan.  As I was in line to sign up, one of the people who was helping to get the boys registered was the father of Evan's friend Benjamin from preschool.  I talked to him about having Evan play with him.  It sounds like Evan will probably have lots of friends on his team.  It's exciting.

For lunch, we went to Which Wich.  The boys ate well there. Evan finished his whole jelly sandwich.

Then we went to the shoe store, 1379.  Evan and Noah each got new sneakers and Evan got new cleats for baseball, as well as a new bat.

Later in the afternoon, Matt, Rachael and Max came down.  Max is very cute and was having a good time playing with the toys here.  We went with them to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen.

This morning, we decided to take Evan and Noah to the park to get them away from the iPhone and iPad.  Evan was doing very well with the monkey bars.

We had brunch at Jim's Restaurant.

We stayed at home in the afternoon.

For dinner, we decided to meet Rachel at Fresh Choice.  She was coming home from Dallas and that's in North Austin.  We figured we could eat dinner earlier.  Unfortunately, Fresh Choice went out of business so we ended up at Manny's Uptown Kitchen.  The boys ate well there.  Rachel brought Noah home and he fell asleep in the car.

Both boys are sleeping now.

Until next time...

Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Norman

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Allison got up with the boys and let Lizzy out.  She had a brunch to go to at 9am.  We had thought she was coming back to the house afterwards so we didn't get up.  Unfortunately, we were wrong so we didn't get to say goodbye.  But we had a good time having her visit.

We didn't do much of anything this morning.  We just took it easy.

The boys and I watched the Steelers game until it was time to go to Evan's baseball game.  I took Evan and then Rachel met us later with Noah.

Evan played well at baseball.  He had a great defensive inning at 2nd base fielding two balls cleanly.  He got one boy out by fielding the ball and then racing him to 2nd base.  His defense is the most improved thing he's had between last season and this season.

After baseball, we drove the parking lot of BJ's.  We dropped my car off and I got in Rachel's car where we drove out to the Omni Southpark.  We picked up Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Norman and drove them to Frank and Angie's for pizza.  There we met Matt, Rachael, Maddie, Tristian and Max.  It was a nice to see everyone.  After dinner we drove Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Norman around campus a bit since they hadn't seen much of the city and the back to the hotel.

We came home and gave the boys baths.

They are in bed now but not yet sleeping.

Until next time...

The Lion King (Post #1000)

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I just realized this was our 1000th blog post. That's pretty amazing. We've been doing it for a long time.

Back in the summer, Living Social was having a special. I think it was something like $3 for 2 movie tickets from Fandango. Rachel and I each bought the deal. We used one of them back in July. Two weeks ago, we realized that the one Rachel had bought was about to expire. We saw that we could buy tickets in advance, even though the deal would expire before. So we bought tickets to see the Lion King in 3D with the boys today. We had to pay for two of the tickets. Well, when we got to the theater, they told us that Fandango had listed the showing incorrectly and it wasn't in 3D. They said they'd refund us all the money and still let us see the movie. That was fine because we didn't need to see the movie in 3D anyway. The boys had never seen the movie and Evan, in particular, was very excited to see it.

The boys seemed to enjoy it. It was much darker than I had remembered. Noah was kind of whiny in the movie though.

We came home and put Noah down for a nap. Evan laid down in the game room.

At 4pm, we left to go to Matt and Rachael's for Max's first birthday. They served hot dogs and hamburgers. Unfortunately the boys didn't want to eat that at all. They played with Ben and Molly for a long time. Then we had cake. Max put the cake all over his face. Evan thought that was hilarious. He especially liked it when Max decided to dump the plate of cake onto the floor.

We left around 6:30. We thought we'd go home, but the boys were hungry. There's a Japanese Hibachi place near Matt and Rachael's house. We had been talking about going there for a while now. Evan and Noah usually love that. We thought we'd treat them to that on the way home (and we didn't want fast food). They did pretty well, but I think they were pretty tired so they didn't eat well.

We're home now. Evan is sleeping and Noah is throwing a massive fit. It all started because he didn't want to come upstairs.

Until next time..

Chicago

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Rachel and Evan left for a bat mitzvah in Chicago. I had to drop them off at the airport very early. Rachel got up at 5:30am and we woke Evan up around 6:15 and Noah around 6:20. We left the house around 6:30. Rachel and Evan arrived safely in Chicago a bit before 11am.

Gabby came to the house after Noah and I returned and took care of Noah until lunch time. Blanca took care of Noah in the afternoon.

Unfortunately, he didn't nap today. He was slightly cranky when I got home.

It was Matt's 40th birthday yesterday so they were having a dinner tonight. Noah and I drove up to Matt's. First we needed to get gas. Noah fell asleep as we pulled up to the gas station and slept the rest of the way up to Matt's. He was probably sleeping for about 45 minutes or so, which was good.

He was very tired and wanted me to hold him for a long time when we go there. Eventually I put him down at the table. And eventually he ate his food.

We had a good time with Matt and Rachael. Ben was really disappointed when Evan wasn't there. We walked in and he said, sounding really upset, "Where's Evan?" and he just was staring, almost as if he was hoping Evan would emerge from behind us. I felt bad.

On the way home, it started to rain and hail. It was really raining hard. Every over pass was filled with cars and there was no room to pull over so I slowly but persistently made my way home. It felt like a very long drive.

We just spoke with Rachel and Evan. Apparently Evan had a great time playing with some kids. He didn't eat much dinner because he was too busy playing with the kids.

Noah is now in his room but not sleeping.

Until next time...

Sports Saturday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning I set the alarm because Evan had a baseball game. It was also our turn to bring snacks for after the game. We decided to bring Gatorade, popsicles and chips. I needed to run to HEB to get ice for the cooler so we could bring the snacks.

When I got up, Evan was in the game room watching TV. We went downstairs and I got some breakfast together for him. Later, Papa cut up fruit for Evan which made him happy.

At the game, Evan did well hitting the ball. He had two solid hits, both to the right side. However, he was not running very fast. I think he does better in afternoon games.

Evan was very excited about the snacks after the game and happy that there were extra for Noah.

After the game, we went back to the house and had lunch. Rachel, Grandma and Bubbe had to go to a baby shower for Lauren. While they did that, Papa and I took Evan and Noah to the driving range.

Evan really improved both from the last time he was hitting as well as during the course of the time we were there. He discovered how to really get do a back swing and his last two swings were really good and he hit the ball far. Noah enjoyed hitting the golf balls but he really enjoyed hitting the balls when we went on the putting green.

Papa and I took the boys after that to Smoothie King.

When we got home, the boys who were acting tired, went right back outside where they had spent almost the entire day. They played some golf in the backyard, they played football, played baseball and went on the swings. It was unbelievable to me that they had any energy.

When Rachel got home, we left because it was our date night. We went to the Melting Pot in North Austin. Before we went out, we stopped at Matt and Rachael's because it was Tristian's 15th birthday.

Grandma and Papa took Evan and Noah to Waterloo. Evan had a jelly sandwich and Noah had mini corn dogs. They both ate a ton of fruit there.

Apparently they went to sleep fairly easily after Papa and Grandma scrubbed them down in the bath.

Until next time...

Passover

I spent a lot of the day getting ready for Passover.

Gabby came at 3:45. I tutored one student and then came back home.

We had seder here with Matt, Rachael, Tristan, Maddee, Aunt Susan, Aaron, and Mandy. We did a very short seder using pieces from the Maxwell House haggadah. It was nice and I feel like everyone had a good time. We had a good variety of food. Everyone brought something. Aunt Susan's charoset was really good. For the afikomen we put teams of Evan and Maddee together and Tristan and Noah. Tristan ended up finding the afikomen that Morry hid under an end table. We gave all the kids money as a prize. During the seder Evan ate a lot of parsley with salt water. Noah liked his matzoh ball. Of course the kids liked the fruit and meringue cookies for dessert. We also had a chocolate seder plate and chocolate matzoh that Rachael and Matt brought.

We are wiped out now. The boys are still awake in their rooms.

Here are some pictures from tonight.

Happy Passover!

Last Day of Two

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today is the last day that Noah is two. At 7:16am Sunday morning, Noah will officially be three. Today, though, was not without some terrible two's from Noah.

Rachel got up early to go running with other moms. Evan and Noah got up after Rachel left the house. When I got up, I got the boys dressed and gave them breakfast. Rachel got home by that point.

I had made a vet appointment for Mottel with his regular vet. He hadn't had a regular checkup in two years. That's when they discovered his weight-loss and started us on the trips to the internist and all the steroids that Mottel took. Mottel absolutely hates leaving the house and always vomits at least once in his carrier. I thought if I brought both boys with me today, he might feel more comfortable. I set him in between the boys. That did not help. He vomited and pooped in his carrier on the way.

At the vet, the boys petted Mottel and I guess Noah got a piece of fur in his mouth just as the vet came in. As I started to talk to the vet, Noah started whining very very loudly "Daddy, I need a paper towel! Daddy, I need a paper towel!" The nurse got him a paper towel. Moments later he started whining again. It was embarrassing. The nurse got him a cup of water which seemed to help.

Meanwhile, Mottel's weight has stabilized which is a good thing. He's gained about a half a pound from two years ago, but he's down 2.5 pounds from 3 years ago. The vet believes that Mottel has something equivalent to Crohn's Disease. Some auto-immune disease that causes his intestines to be inflamed and makes it so he does not gain weight. But as long as he's not losing weight, we're fine. Unfortunately, Mottel has cataracts. We can go see an ophthalmologist, but I just am not sure it's worth it. It's very very upsetting to go thru surgery for Mottel. But at the same time, I don't want him to be blind at the end of his life. It's tough.

When we got home, we went to Walmart to get some things for Evan and Noah's party. The boys were very hyper and weren't listening that well as they ran thru the store. We ran into Academy Sports to see if they had baseball pants for Evan. They did, but they were too big.

We came home and had lunch. After lunch, Matt, Rachael, and Max came over. Matt needed to borrow our video camera. They stayed here until dinner time. Max thought Lizzy was hilarious. Every time Lizzy did anything, Max would laugh. At one point, Lizzy got on the back of the couch to look out the window. Max laughed and laughed. Lizzy was really good with him. Even when Matt and Rachael came in and Lizzy was hyper, she sensed that Matt was holding a baby and did not jump on him. Just another reason why Lizzy is the best dog.

For dinner, we went to TGI Fridays. It was in Southpark Meadows and we needed to go to Sports Authority and Target there. We had a coupon which is why we went there. The boys were very good and ate very well. Noah had a bunch of my salad which was good.

We ran into Sports Authority and they didn't have pants for Evan either. We did get him baseball socks.

At Target, we picked up Nerf darts for the Nerf dart gun that Evan bought with his own money from the garage sale next door.

We came home and Evan tried out his Nerf gun. Rachel and I read him the riot act about what he could shoot at. We made him repeat everything back to us.

They are "in bed" now but still awake.

Until next time...

Bowling

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Evan came in our room. He told us he had a great idea of what we could do today - we could go bowling.

We got up and got the kids dressed. Grandmom wasn't feeling well so we just went downstairs and put the Wizard of Oz on for the boys. They had never seen it. I was wondering if Evan would find it lame. I think he liked it.

For lunch I made pasta. No one was really hungry except for me so I made something that was easy and you could choose how much of it you wanted.

Grandmom was feeling better after lunch, so we got the kids ready and went to Westgate Lanes. Just Evan, Noah and I bowled. The boys had the bumpers up but Evan was doing really well. He's still just pushing it but he pushes it hard and many times very straight. In fact, he was winning the entire game until the last frame when I finally pulled ahead. I wasn't letting Evan win either, he was just playing that well.

We were going to switch out our cable modem but when we stopped by Time Warner Cable, the line was ridiculously long so we left.

We were going to go to Matt and Rachael's for dinner. Unfortunately, Rachel was not feeling well. Since they have a little baby and Rachel wanted to get some rest she stayed home. When we got there, Evan walked right into the house like he owned the place and went upstairs to play with Ben. I didn't see him again until the pizza was delivered. Noah stayed downstairs with the adults for most of the time. Evan really had a good time. Noah went upstairs after dinner and enjoyed himself.

We came home and I put the boys down, but somehow Noah is out of his room and neither boy is sleeping. I'm going to have to go deal with that momentarily.

Until next time...

Superheroes

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

When we got up this morning, we arranged to go to Matt and Rachael's house and the on to lunch. We had to get the kids all ready and get everything set up before we left. Also, Rachel got some of the old baby toys together to bring to them since they are having their little boy on Sept 22.

We got to their house around 11:40am and Evan and Ben played Star Wars and superheroes together for a while. Noah stayed down with the adults and played on Grandmom's iPhone.

For lunch, we went to Manny's Uptown Kitchen. It used to be called Manny Hattan's but I guess they are trying to reinvent themselves. It's basically a Jewish deli. The food was actually very good. Much better than I had remembered. However the service was incredibly slow. All the kids were well behaved.

We came home and Noah went down for a nap while Evan watched Scooby-Doo.

When Noah got up, we drove over to Target. Grandmom had said she was going to buy a toy for each of the boys. Also, she was going to get Halloween costumes. Evan has really wanted this Ironman helmet that talks. He and Noah both got one. Then we got Halloween costumes. Evan got Spiderman while Noah got Batman.

For dinner we went to Carino's. It also was slow, but the food was good.

We came home and the boys tried on their costumes and put on their Ironman helmets. They are in bed now.

Until next time...

Another busy one

This morning we needed to go to HEB before Evan’s school. They were having a party at his school and we signed up to bring bread and jelly. It took forever for us to get out of the house. Evan kept coming up with excuses. It was really frustrating. We quickly stopped in HEB and then went to Evan’s school.

After dropping Evan off Noah and I went to Target. I had heard Target was having a big toy clearance sale and we needed a few other things as well. We got quite a few good deals on toys. I stocked up for birthday parties. Noah was kind of a pain. He got upset when I wouldn’t buy certain toys.

After Target I dropped Noah off at Alena’s house for a little bit.

Later I picked up Evan at school and then Noah at Alena’s house.

When we got home I put Noah down for a nap.

When Morry got home we got ready to go to dinner. We were meeting Matt, Rachael, their kids, Aunt Jane, and Uncle Normal at Hula Hut. We got there a little late because traffic was really bad. Dinner was nice, but I sat next to Noah. He really demands a lot of attention.

We just put the boys to bed, but they are still awake.

We still have a lot to do tonight. We need to get ready for the shower this weekend, pack for our trip, and fold a ton of laundry.

Day of Cousins

This morning both boys got up somewhat early. I spent the morning cleaning up more. Evan watched as I made my bed and Noah’s bed. He said he wanted to make his own bed. He was very proud of himself. Here are a few pictures.

Also, lately Evan likes to style his own hair. He'll get his hair wet in the sink and then comb it. This morning I saw him helping Noah style his hair too. Very cute!

Sherah, JW, Nolan, and Court came over around 12. They picked up pizza from Little Caesars. Evan and Noah were so excited when they got here. The boys played very well together. After eating Sherah and I took Noah and Court party shopping. We went to Party City and Walmart to find some things for Lauren’s shower.

When we got home Noah was pretty tired so I put him down for a nap. They left pretty soon after.

Morry took Mottel to the vet today for a check up. Mottel has been shedding more than usual and they think it’s from his steroids, so they are lowering the dosage hoping to get him off them completely in a few months.

For dinner we went to Boston Market and then went to Matt and Rachael’s house for Rachael’s shower. We brought the kids with us. The men watched tv and the kids played upstairs mostly during the shower. At one point Noah was with the men and was eating grapes on a plate on the floor (there was no table in the room). Noah was jumping around and somehow tripped and ending falling and sitting right on the plate of grapes and smooshed them. Everyone thought it was pretty funny, even Noah.

We got home around 10pm and put the boys to bed. It has been a long day.
