Trip to Philadelphia and Summer Camp

We were gone for about a week.

We started out in Philadelphia to celebrate Grandmom's birthday and Avery's Bat Mitzvah.  Then, we drove to Greensboro, NC to drop the kids off at camp.   They will be there until July 15 when Fran and Scott pick them up.  Then, Fran will fly them back to Austin.

Here are some pictures from our trip.

Garrett's Party

This morning we picked up Grandma and Papa around 9am and then went to Cedar Park (45 minutes) to Garrett's birthday party.  They rented out a pool.  We had a nice time. The boys played water basketball for a lot of the time.  Evan also jumped off the high dive board.  We were surprised to see Ben, Matt's son, working there as a lifeguard.  He came up to say hi.

We came back home and took it easy until it was time for Chewie's training at 3pm.

Chewie did well.  He enjoyed eating all of the treats.

We ate dinner at home tonight and then went to TCBY for dessert.

Now the kids are playing in the gameroom.

Fun with Friends

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Calvin got Chewie up early, as he's been doing.  Rachel came down with them and fed the animals and let Chewie out.

I went to HomeAway this morning for a meeting.  Rachel took the boys to get some dress clothes.

Apparently, Evan and his friend Reid were planning to hang out today.  They talked and set everything up.  After going clothes shopping, Rachel dropped Evan off at Carter's house who was having both Reid and Evan over.  Reid's mom brought Evan home later in the afternoon.

When Rachel and Noah got home, Anelio came over.  Anelio was still here when I got home from HomeAway.

We had dinner at home and then walked to the Food Trailer Night.  We got snow cones while we were there.

The boys are upstairs and will be getting ready for bed soon.

Until next time...

Weekday Brunch

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I didn't go anywhere today.  I stayed home to do some work.  Evan didn't want to go anywhere either so he stayed inside most of the day as well.

Rachel, Noah and Grandma, though, met for brunch at a new place called The Funkadelic.  Rachel thought it was pretty good.  She didn't realize it'd be counter service but she liked her food.  Noah said the bacon was very good.  He said it was thick and cooked just right.

Evan and I just had lunch at home.

In the afternoon, Noah and I took Evan to his baseball program. We dropped him off and went to Vivel Crepes where we got muffins and I did work.  Noah played on his iPad.  We picked Evan up when it was time and then we went to Sport Clips and the boys got hair cuts.

For dinner, we had some frozen Chinese orange chicken.  After dinner, Rachel and I took Chewie for a walk.

The boys are playing in the game room now.

Until next time...

Nothing much

Today, the kids spent most of the day at home.

I took Chewie for short run this morning.  Then, I went to a doctor's appointment and then to tutor.

Around 2:00 Morry took Evan to his 3-5 baseball practice.

On the way home, he dropped off Evan at Grandma's for dinner.

We had leftover corned beef for dinner and then walked to pick up Evan.

The boys are playing video games now.

Bowling

This morning we took it easy.

I asked the kids what they wanted to do today and they both said, "bowling."  They always want to go bowling.

We went to the bowling alley for one game of bowling.  The kids had a good time.

When we got home we ate a late lunch.

Morry came home around 2:15 from a meeting and then dentist appointment.

Then, he took Evan to his baseball practice.

They got home around 5:30 and Evan played even more baseball outside.

We had corned beef for dinner and then took Chewie for a walk.

Soon the boys will get ready for bed.

That's All Folks

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The baseball season came to an end today.  It started early, though, with another 8am game.  Today, Noah decided not to come with us, so it was just Evan and me.  We visited Donut Taco Palace for the last time until the fall season on the way up.

In the first game, Evan started at first base.  His pal, Angelo, was catching.  In the second inning, with the score tied at 2, bases loaded and one out, they brought Evan into pitch.  The first batter grounded weakly to second or short and one run scored.  Somehow they called a balk on Evan on the next pitch.  His coach came out to argue but the call was not overturned and a second run scored.  Evan then struck out the next batter to end the inning.  His team tied the score at 4.  Evan came in and got a 1-2-3 inning but getting a foul pop up behind home plate, getting a runner to bounce back to him and then inducing a swinging bunt which Angelo fielded nicely and threw to first.  In the next inning, Evan got another foul pop up behind home plate, a grounder to second, walked a batter and struck out the third batter.  That caused the game to go into extra innings.  In extra innings, it starts out with the bases loaded and one out.  The last three batters of the previous innings are the base runners.  Evan was the batter.  He worked the count to 3-1 and then took a ball off his belt buckle to to force in a run.  That was the only run they scored.  So Evan came back out to pitch with the bases loaded and one out.  He calmly struck out both batters he face to end the game and send them to the next round.

Around that time, Rachel took Chewie to the dog park.  Noah didn't want to go with her.  Rachel said that Chewie had a good time running around.  As soon as they got there, Chewie raced for the water.

The second game didn't go as well for Evan's team.  Evan caught in this game and played well.  He had some nice blocks and good throws.  But the team was out of pitching and so the game got away.  Nevertheless, it was good to get a win with the Blue team.

On our way home, we stopped and got some slices of pizza to eat in the car.

Just before we got home, Noah got picked up by Jude's family to go for a hike.  Rachel also gave Chewie a bath.

We took it easy the rest of the afternoon.  Then we went to pick Noah up from Jude's.  We stopped and got Papa and went to Me Con Bistro for dinner.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Last Weekend of Baseball

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, we got up early to go to Evan's last tournament.  This is the "B" team that he's playing for.  We had to be at the fields at 7:15.  Noah wanted to come with us because Angelo's brother, Tony, as going to be there and they were planning to hang out.

We stopped at Donut Taco Palace on the way.  Noah didn't want anything.

Evan played third base in the first game.  He made some very nice places on balls that were chopped.  He seemed to know when to field the ball so he didn't get caught between hops.  He popped up once and walked twice in the game.  The team lost that game.  In the second game, he was catcher.  He threw out a runner trying to steal third in the first inning.  They never tried to steal second on Evan but they attempted third three more times.  Two of the times, I thought the runner was out but the umpire called them safe.  The third time the throw was just late, although that was Evan's most impressive throw.  The pitch was high and inside causing Evan to have to stand to catch but Evan was off balance. He somehow managed to catch it, transfer the ball to his throwing hand and throw a perfect strike without moving his feet.  He didn't step into it at all and the throw looked great.  They unfortunately lost that game as well.

We came home and did nothing all afternoon which was kind of nice.  Evan, Noah and I were all quite tired.  Rachel did take Chewie on the upstairs porch.  She did some work out there and let Chewie relax looking out front.

For dinner we went to Chipotle and then we went to the new Bahama Buck's that just opened in Austin.  We've been looking forward to it opening.

The boys will be getting ready for bed soon.

Until next time...
