Halloween 2010

This morning we went to HEB to pick up some groceries for this week. Evan and Noah wore their costumes there and got a lot of smiles and “cute costumes”.

We came home and had lunch. Then, I tutored 1 student.

Around 5:00 we headed to the block party at the end of our cul-de-sac. It was really nice. Everyone brought a dish. We brought watermelon and cantaloupe. Evan and Noah had fun running around and playing with the other kids. Around 7pm everyone started trick-or-treating. Morry went to a few houses with us, but then came home to watch the Steelers game. I took Evan and Noah for a little bit. We came home so they could eat dinner and then Evan and I went back out to a few houses.

We are about to put the kids to bed. It seems the trick-or-treaters have all gone home.

Farmers Market

Normally I run with a group of moms on Saturday morning, but this morning it was cold (42 degrees) and I didn’t sleep that well last night. I decided to sleep in.

Once we all got dressed and ate breakfast we ran a few errands. We went to the vet to pick up Mottel’s food and Academy to get our Race for the Cure packets for next weekend. Then, we went over the Sunset Valley Farmer’s Market. By that time it had warmed up to about 70 degrees. It was a nice day for walking around the farmers market. The boys got water ice and then we bought some vegetables, olive oil, vinegar, and tabouli.

When we got home we ate lunch and put Noah down for a nap. I decided to run this afternoon so I wouldn’t have to get up early tomorrow to run. I needed to get a long run in. I ran the longest I have ever run – 10 miles. I’m hoping to do the half marathon in 2 weeks and my goal was to make it 10 miles. The half marathon is 13.1 miles, so I’m thinking that if I can do 10, I can do 13 miles.

Gabby came over so Morry and I could go out for dinner.

We ate at Gumbos and then went to Barnes and Noble for a little bit.

We got home around 9:30. Evan and Noah were in bed, but still awake.

Refinancing

Today I took the boys to the gym and then picked up Morry at work. We had a 11:45am appointment with the title company to refinance our loan.

We brought the boys with us downtown. I packed their lunches and they ate and played at the end of the table while we signed all of the papers. They were pretty good.

We dropped Morry off at work and came back home.

I tried putting Noah down for a nap but he didn’t sleep.

We went to Sonya and Avery’s house for playgroup this afternoon. Evan and Noah had fun playing with the other kids. I enjoyed talking to the moms.

When we got home around 5:30 Morry was home.

We went to dinner at Red’s Porch. We sat outside on the upstairs porch overlooking the hills and sunset. Evan ate pretty well. He had a ton of black-eyed peas. Noah ate some of his hotdog.

We just got home. The boys are having sherbet for dessert and then we are going to put them to bed.

Halloween Parties at School

Today Evan and Noah had Halloween parties at school. We went to Noah’s room first. Noah was very clingy and didn’t eat very much. We knew we couldn’t leave his room and not take him with us to Evan’s room. Once we went to Evan’s room Noah was fine.

Evan’s class ate their lunch outside and then they played on the playground. After that we all came inside and they had various activities. They made Halloween bags, necklaces, and cookies. Then they trick-or-treated. The kids took turns standing at the door and passing treats out to the other kids. Evan enjoyed being the big brother and taking care of Noah.

Morry worked from home the rest of the afternoon.

Noah resisted napping, but eventually fell asleep at his door by the gate.

I tutored and then met Morry and the boys at cooking class. Evan and Noah had to come with us tonight because our babysitters were not available.

The boys were pretty good at the class. They (mostly Noah) were loud at times. We put down a picnic blanket and they ate their dinner and played legos.

We just got home and put the boys to bed.

Where is the Lizard?

This morning the lizard was still behind the refrigerator. I was definitely alive.

The boys and I went to the gym and when we got back the lizard was gone. I keep opening doors expecting it to pop out. I wonder where it is? I’m not sure if the animals found it or maybe it’s still behind the fridge and we just can’t see it? Now what?

I made lunch for the boys, but neither one ate very much.

I put Noah down for a nap but he wouldn’t sleep.

Gabby came at 4:00 and I had my long day of tutoring. I got home around 8:15.

Morry and the boys had pasta for dinner.

When I got home both boys were in the rooms ready for bed, but still awake.

Lizard in the house

After dropping Evan and Noah off at school I came home and did some stuff around the house. Then I relaxed a little.

After picking up the boys at school we went to HEB. I let Noah walk around the store this time with Evan. They both pretty wild.

When we got home I was unloading the groceries from the car and Lizzy was in the garage with us. All of the sudden Lizzy spotted a lizard. It wasn’t one of those little geckos or chameleons. It was a pretty thick and long lizard. Lizzy got the lizard in her mouth but dropped it when I yelled at her. She chased it around the garage and into the house. I tried to catch it in the kitchen but it went behind the refrigerator. It has been in the same spot since then.

Noah took a nap.

Blanca came at 3:45 and I tutored.

When I got home we made dinner. Morry had steak and I had fish along with baked potatoes.

We just gave the boys baths and put them to bed.

Shmevan at Newflower

This morning the boys got up super early. Both were up when Morry left the house before 7am.

Later in the morning we went to Newflower. Evan was really acting out there. They have a car cart there and the boys climbed in. It just happened that Noah got the side with the steering wheel. Evan was really upset and starting fighting with Noah. He wasn’t listening to me and didn’t want to wait for his turn. Evan was being so bad, I had to pull him out of the cart. Then he started screaming and kicking things the rest of our shopping trip. I had to hurry up and only get the things I absolutely needed for tonight. It was really embarrassing.

When we got home the boys played outside while I got lunch and dinner started. For lunch I made applesauce (recipe from cooking class). Neither boy ate it. Evan wouldn’t even try it. I put together some other things for them for lunch and Evan hardly ate anything. I also made carrots and beets salad (cooking class recipe) and stuffed peppers for dinner. I made extra peppers so that we could freeze them and have them later. I spent most of the afternoon in the kitchen. The only time I sat down was for just a few minutes to quickly eat lunch.

Noah didn’t nap.

Gabby came at 3:45.

I tutored and got home around 7pm.

We ate dinner and then put the boys to bed.

Evan and Rachel Bike Ride

This morning Papa went to Hillel and Morry took Grandma there a little bit later to meet him for brunch.

During the Steelers game Evan and I went for a bike ride. First we went to the park at the school. There’s a little pond there and we watched people fish. Evan ate his lunch on the pier. Then, we rode over to the ice cream shop. Evan got birthday cake ice cream with sprinkles.

A little after we got home Grandma and Papa got back to the house.

Evan was swinging outside and all of the sudden the swing broke. One side came out of the top part where the swing chain connects to the bar. We were worried Evan was hurt, but I think it mostly just scared him. Now, we need to contact the company that makes the swing set. Obviously, that shouldn’t happen.

Grandma and Papa left to drive back to Dallas.

Later in the afternoon we went over to Sam’s Club and then picked up dinner at Little Caesars on the way home. Both boys ate very well.

We just got Evan and Noah ready for bed. Morry is reading a book to them now.

Here are some pictures from yesterday along with 2 videos.

Texas Football

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today we took the whole family to the Texas-Iowa State football game. Before we left for the game, however, Rachel went for a seven mile run. As she was finishing up it began to rain. We weren't sure how the game would be, but luckily it stopped raining before the game.

We parked near the fire station closest to the stadium and walked from there to the stadium. It was a pretty long walk, but both boys walked the entire way. They seemed to enjoy the walk and everything to look at.

During the first half of the game, the boys were a little cranky. They weren't that into the game. I think they were kind of hungry. During the 2nd quarter, Rachel and I took them down to the food court and got them food. They each got an ICEE and Evan had a personal pizza. Noah ate some of the pizza as well and they both had some apples. After that the boys were in a much better mood.

We stayed into the 4th quarter because the boys were being so well behaved. Unfortunately, Texas was not playing well. After they went down 28-6, we left.

The walk back to the car was tough because by that point, Evan and Noah were tired. I carried Evan almost the entire way back.

When we got to the fire station, one of the trucks was pulled out and sitting there. Evan wanted to look at the truck. One of the firefighters came out and was happy to show Evan the truck. Noah wanted to see it too. They got to go into the fire truck and both boys actually go to sit in the driver's seat. Evan absolutely loved it. On the way home, he said he wanted to do it again.

When we got home, the boys played outside for a bit. But then they got really cranky. We put Noah down for a nap and after a little fit, Evan fell asleep next to me on the couch while I watched the Auburn-LSU game.

For dinner, Grandma and Papa babysat for the boys. They took them to Waterloo Ice House. Noah ate all of his peanut butter and jelly sandwich and his fruit. Evan ate half of his sandwich and all of his fruit.

Rachel and I went to the Buenos Aires Cafe. It was pretty good. It was nice and relaxing too.

When we got home we watched the end of the Phillies-Giants game. I was happy that the Giants won.

Until next time...

Getting Stuff Done

This morning we hung out at home. Then, we went to the bank, the library, and picked up Morry for lunch. We ate lunch at McDonalds. We wanted something fast that would be good for the kids. After lunch we picked up my car that was in the shop getting a new battery.

When we got back to the house Grandma and Papa had just arrived. They came in this weekend again because Papa has a meeting on Sunday.

Papa worked outside fixing the swing set. Evan was outside most of the time with him. Noah was outside a little bit, but then I put him down for a nap.

For dinner we went to Suzy’s and then for dessert we went to Froyoyo.

We just put the boys to bed. I hear Noah singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
