Very Busy Weekend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan had a baseball tournament this weekend.  He also was supposed to have his flag football playoffs on Sunday night.

We had to get to the fields at 8am Saturday with the first game at 9am.  In the first game, Evan started at third base.  I don't think he had a ball hit to him.  He tripled in his first at-bat.  He walked in his second at-bat and got hit by a pitch in his third at-bat.  The team won big, 10-2.  In the second game, Evan took a rest and then came in at catcher.  Evan blocked a ball with a runner at third and the ball went about 10 feet away.  The runner took off for home.  Evan ran, slid on the ground, got the ball and flipped it to the pitcher to get the runner out.  In that game he crushed two balls to the outfield that were both caught.  The wind was blowing in from left-center and the first ball was to center and the second ball was to left.  The wind knocked both down.  Rachel and Noah came to the second game.

We came home and relaxed in the afternoon.  We made dinner at home and then went to Bahama Bucks for dessert.

The team earned the #1 seed so their first game wasn't until 12:50 on Sunday.  That let us sleep in some.  Noah came with us to the game.  Rachel had a brunch at Red's Porch for the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls so she didn't make it.

Evan caught the whole first game.  He went three-for-three hitting and threw a runner out trying to steal third.  The team ended up winning big, 14-4.  That put them in the semi-finals.  Evan played left field mostly and almost had a sliding catch on a very hard hit line drive but couldn't quite bring it in.  He was able to hold the runner to a single.  He came in and pitched one inning at the end of the game.  He threw 70% strikes.  His defense let him down with 3 dropped fly balls and 4 errors in total, but Evan had full control and they were not hitting the ball hard.  In that game, Evan went 1-3 with an RBI.  He also hit a ball that looked like it was going in the right-center gap but the right fielder made a running catch.  Unfortunately, the team lost that game.

We jumped in the car and rushed down for the playoff game.  That didn't go well.  The team got shut out.  The other team was older and while it was very close for most of the game, the other team was just too fast.  The team that beat them ended up winning the championship.

We went to Cheddar's for dinner.

Today, everyone was tired from our long weekend.  I think we needed a weekend from our weekend.

Noah had a field trip today.  He's part of a leadership group at school and they went to the Blanton Museum.

I had a late meeting.  Rachel had already left for tutoring by the time I got home.

For dinner, we just made pasta.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Late Night Tutoring

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I had a phone meeting early this morning after walking Noah to school.  After that I left to go into Touch To.

Rachel went in for a doctor's appointment shortly after I left.

In the afternoon, I worked at HomeAway and got back after Rachel had picked up Noah.  She took Noah to Jude's house and then left to tutor.

Evan got home a few minutes after me.  He had a snack and then I left to take him to Cooper's.  Cooper's parents were taking him to baseball practice.  On the way, they stopped to watch a freshman high school baseball game.  The high school that Evan will go to was playing against the high school near the facility.  Evan said he liked it.

I had a phone meeting this evening.  Rachel, who had returned from tutoring, and Noah ate dinner while I was on the phone.  Then Rachel left to tutor some more.

I made some pasta for Evan and me after Evan got home.  Noah had some too.

Rachel is on her way home from tutoring and the boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Very Busy President's Day Weekend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

On Saturday, after we got up, we took the boys to Big Top Candy Shop.  It's our annual Valentine's Day tradition.  We couldn't do it on Valentine's Day so we went Saturday morning.  We allow the boys to get $10 of candy (mostly from the bulk candy bins).  We came home and had lunch and then I took Evan to his baseball tournament.

Evan had a hit in 3 at-bats across two games.  He caught half of one game.  He pitched most of the second game.  He wasn't quite as good as the week before, but he pitched well and got out of another inherited bases loaded situation. Rachel, Grandma and Noah came to the first game.  Noah stayed for the second game as well.

Sunday morning, I took Evan to the second day of the tournament.  They played two more games.  In the first game, Evan played mostly the outfield but came in for an inning at the end and threw out another base runner.  He caught the whole second game.  He went 2-2 with a walk and three runs scored.

Noah's friend Grayson came over and hung out with him all day.

Evan and I were home about an hour and a half before I had to take him to play in 3 flag football games.  I just dropped him off because Rachel and I were going out to celebrate our Valentine's Day.  Evan stayed over Reid's house.  I then dropped Noah off at Sunday School.  He stayed over at Grandma and Papa's last night.

Rachel and I went to dinner downtown and then we went to see a movie.

This morning, I went into HomeAway.  Rachel walked Chewie to get Noah.  Reid's parents dropped Evan off at home.

Rachel and I met for lunch at a place called Food Food.  She had a fitting for a dress for her runway show on Thursday so I met her over there and had lunch.

I worked from home in the afternoon.  I had to run out to TRPD to help them with something.  Rachel went to tutor.

For dinner we just had pasta.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

New Braunfels with the Boys

Today the boys didn't have school.

We took it easy this morning and then left the house a little before 11am.

It was going to be warm and sunny today so I took the kids to New Braunfels to check out some parks and go to a bakery.

We had a nice time.  The weather was very nice.

We got back home around 4pm.

This afternoon Evan had baseball practice.

When Morry and Evan got home we had dinner at home.  Morry and I had leftover pizza and the boys had frozen Asian dinners.

Here are some pictures from today.

New Collar

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan was supposed to have a baseball tournament today but with the rain and the very cold temperatures, they pushed the tournament from a two-day to a Sunday-only.  He'll play tomorrow morning.

That allowed Rachel and I to sleep in which was nice.

When we got up, we called in bagels at Wholy Bagel.  We drove to pick them up with Chewie in the car.  Then we drove to Petco and got him a new collar.  Chewie had a very good time at Petco.  He made sure everyone in the store knew he was there and tried to say hello to everyone.

We came home and had our bagels for lunch.

Then we did some cleaning.  Evan is trying to earn money for a Pirates shirt when we get to spring training so he folded laundry, he cleaned the cats' litter boxes, and he dealt with all the recycling.

Noah, Evan and I sat and watched the original Terminator movie in the afternoon.  I made popcorn for us.

For dinner, we went with Grandma and Papa to the revolving sushi restaurant, Kura.  Everyone seemed to have a good time.  After dinner, Rachel, Grandma and Papa went to a bookstore next door and I took the boys to get a shaved milk/cream place called Snowy Village.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Cold Front

This morning,  Morry and Chewie walked Noah to school.  I left shortly after to go to my school.  It was hot and humid this morning, around 70 degrees.

I was there until about 12:30.

I left the house again around 3pm.

I had a phone meeting and then tutoring.  I had the phone meeting in the driveway at my student's house before tutoring.

During the day, a cold front rolled in.

By the afternoon it was chilly.

For dinner, the boys had leftover chicken and pasta.  I had a sandwich.

It is now 43 degrees outside.

Now Evan and Noah are playing video games before bed.

Late Dinner

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning after walking Noah to school, Rachel and I got on the phone with a woman Rachel knows from the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls.  Rachel is helping her get her blog set up.  I am doing some of the domain transferring, etc... and we had some questions for her.

From there, I left and went into Touch To where I worked in the morning.

Rachel left around lunch time to go in to teach.

Around lunch, I drove up to HomeAway and had a few meetings there.

Rachel picked Noah up from school.  She left for tutoring after that.

I got home and was home for close to an hour before driving Evan to Cooper's house.  He was catching a ride to practice with Cooper.

Rachel didn't get home until close to 7:30 and Evan didn't get home until 8:30.  We had dinner ready for when Evan got home.  I seared chicken in the cast iron pan and baked it.  It was good.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

HitTrax Tournament

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

There is no baseball tournament or flag football game this weekend.  But they did have a HitTrax tournament at the facility.  HitTrax is a system that measures how the ball is hit, the velocity off the bad, the angle and the launch angle and tells you where the ball goes and if it's a hit or not (based on their age).  Evan's team had to form smaller teams and were allowed to bring friends that weren't in the organization to compete.

Before we left for that, Rachel left to tutor a girl for the ACT.  It turns out she had other math homework so Rachel ended up not helping her prepare for the ACT.

Evan had already formed a team with Cooper, Angelo and Cooper's friend.  They called themselves the "Megabombers".  They ended up winning the whole tournament.  Evan was very excited.

Rachel stopped at HEB on her way home and got some stuff for the week.  She said it was very crowded at HEB.

We got home about an hour after her and we had lunch.

The rest of the afternoon, we took it easy.

For dinner, we went to The League with Papa.  We had a nice time.

The boys are playing on the Playstation now and Rachel is making cake balls for a Super Bowl party tomorrow.

Until next time...
