Back to Another Monday

This morning we walked Noah to school.

I taught later in the day.

Morry and I walked to get Noah from school and shortly after I left for tutoring.

I got home earlier than normal since I just had one student today.

When I got home, Evan was getting ready to go to Grandma and Papa's house for dinner.

Noah, Morry, and I had matzoh ball soup for dinner.

Then, we walked to Grandma and Papa's house with Chewie to get Evan.

Here are some pictures and videos from Passover Seder on Saturday.

Baseball, Passover, Hike and the Dog Park

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We had a full weekend this weekend.  It started out with a semi-relaxed morning yesterday morning, and then what felt like non-stop after that.

Evan and I left the house around 11am to go to his games. It was a one-day tournament.  In the first game, Evan played third base the whole game.  He made two very nice plays.  On one play there was a hard hit line drive to his left.  He dove and came down with the ball.  You could see the ball sticking out of his glove a bit. Later in the game, he back-handed a ball going down the line and threw across the diamond to get the out.  Unfortunately, they lost that game.

In the second game, Evan caught the whole game.  He picked off a runner who had gotten to far from third in the first inning.  He also should have thrown a runner out stealing both second and third but in both instances, the fielder made a mistake putting the tag down.  He really played well at catcher.  Again, it was unfortunate but the team last.  Also the games ran long which made us late for the Seder.

We got to the Seder about an hour late.  I don't think the actual Seder started too much before we got there.  Maybe 15-20 minutes.  Noah took over the job of "God" from me.  I had done it the last three years.  Last year, we introduced "God, Jr." played by Noah.  This year he moved up.  This part requires answering Papa talking about the plagues he's going to do to the Egyptians.  Noah did a really good job.

Evan and Noah had a good time playing with their cousins, Nolan and Court.

This morning we got up and got going early to take Chewie to Emma Long Park.  There is a 3-mile leash-less hike there.  We got there at 10:30 but the park had already closed due to capacity.  We found a spot along the side of the road, and tried to walk through the woods to bypass the blockade.  Unfortunately, there was a barbed wire fence that prevented us from getting across.  Nevertheless, Chewie liked that hike.

From there, we went to Auditorium Shores.  We let Chewie run around and go swimming.  He seemed a bit worn out from the previous hike.  We stayed there for a while and then walked across the river to eat ice cream sandwiches at a placed called Baked Bear.

After that, we drove to Grandma and Papa's for the boys to finish the cleanup process in the backyard.

We rested at home for about 2 hours before we left, picked up Grandma and Papa and went to Lupe Tortilla for dinner.

We're home now and the boys are relaxing some.

Until next time...

Noah's Birthday Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

There was a big rain storm over night.  They had predicted thunder, lightning and hail.  There definitely wasn't any hail.  I didn't hear any thunder either.  Parts of the city may have gotten hit hard, but I think it was just a heavy rain storm for us.

It was clear enough for Noah and I to walk to school though.

I worked all day from home as I will be doing from now on.  Rachel went in early to teach.  She stopped at HEB on the way home to pick up a birthday cake for Noah.

We had Noah's birthday party tonight.  This was really our first opportunity to have a birthday party doing what Noah wanted to do.  He wanted to have a few boys do an Escape Room with him.  His friend Cole got dropped off at our house at 5pm.  We left and picked up Jude.  Four other boys met us there.

In the Escape Room, our goal was not actually to escape.  Rather, we had to solve lots of puzzles, gather clues, and unlock things in an effort to find a golden goblet.  We had an hour to solve all the puzzles.  Evan and I joined Noah and his friends.  Rachel set up the party room during the time.  It was fun.  The boys were hyper at times.  Overall, I enjoyed myself.  We were able to solve the room with 17 seconds remaining.  I think Noah was happy that we were successful.

We fed the boys pizza after the room and then gave them cake.  Noah seemed to enjoy being with his friends.

The boys are upstairs playing.  There isn't any school tomorrow so there's no rush to get to bed.

Until next time...

Shortened Practice

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was warm this morning on the walk to school.  It's starting to get close to the time in the spring where we won't have any more cold mornings.

I was home all day today.  That will be the case most of the time.  Rachel was home in the morning and then went in to teach around noon.  She didn't have to substitute for the other teacher so she got home normal time.

We walked to get Noah.  He was in a good mood.  Noah went over to Grandma's house after school.

Rachel left to tutor before Evan got home.

Evan had a shortened hitting practice today.  We drove out to the facility but were only there about half the time that we normally would be out there.  On the way home, we stopped at HEB and got a rotisserie chicken.

Rachel picked up Noah who had already eaten.  Then Rachel, Evan and I sat down to dinner.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Staff Meeting and Only 1 Tutoring Hour

This morning was my early day at school.

After I taught, I came back home for a little bit and then went back to school for our 12:30 staff meeting.

Two of my students canceled today, so I only had the one hour of tutoring in the neighborhood.

I was able to come back home and walked to get Noah from school.

Morry took Evan and Cooper to practice.

They got Chick Fil A for dinner on their way home.

Noah and I had dinner at home.

Morry and Evan got home a little while ago and soon the boys will be ready for bed.

Another Monday

This morning we walked Noah to school.

I taught my math class and subbed for another class.  Then, I did some work at school and went to tutor.

When I came home, both boys were playing outside.

Evan was supposed to go to Grandma and Papa's house today, but Grandma is not feeling well.

For dinner, we had fried rice and were able to eat outside again.

The boys tried to convince us to go somewhere for dessert, but they didn't win.

In a little bit, Evan and Noah will get ready for bed.

No Sports This Weekend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan was supposed to play baseball in Dallas this weekend. He was going to go up with one of his teammates on Friday and I was going to go up on Saturday.  But there was 100% chance of rain this weekend so the parents voted to not go.  That saved everyone a drive as well as paying for a night at a hotel.  It did rain and the tournament was cancelled so it ended up being a good decision.

I was happy because I thought I would get to see Noah play football.  Unfortunately, it rained heavily yesterday morning and Noah's game was cancelled.

I took the boys to Target where they spent some money from their birthday.  Then we picked up a movie from Redbox that we watched in the afternoon. Rachel tutored while we did that.

For dinner, we went to Hula Hut.  We did some shopping at HEB on the way home.  We saw Grandma and Papa as well as our neighbor Rita there.

Today, I got up with the animals and fed them and then went back to bed.  Later in the morning, Rachel got up.  She didn't realize I had fed them and took them downstairs and fed them again.  I think they were quite happy.

Rachel and I took Chewie for a long walk this morning.  Then we came home and had lunch.

In the afternoon, I did some work.  Rachel left to go to a Pink Ribbon Cowgirl event.

Noah had Sunday School in the afternoon.

For dinner, we were able to eat outside.  It was nice.  Chewie loved having us outside.  We let Calvin come out too.

The boys are playing upstairs now.

Until next time...

Evan's Birthday + The Last Few Days

This week we were all busy with our different obligations.

I worked teaching, tutoring, and with blog/influencer stuff.  I was on a local news show on Wednesday (see the video here) and had a food blogger event on Thursday.

Morry started his new job as CTO of a startup called Answers Now.

Evan and Noah had sports practices.

Today was Evan's birthday.  He's 13 now!

This afternoon Noah had football practice.  We picked him up a little bit early in order to get downtown to pick up our race packets for the Cap10k on Sunday.

Then, to celebrate Evan's birthday we went to Big Top Candy Shop and then Tarbouch for dinner.  Grandma and Papa met us for dinner.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.
