Missing Teeth

This morning we walked to school, like usual.

Around 1:30 I picked up Noah for an orthodontist appointment.  The dentist recommended we see one because Noah has a large gap between his front teeth and a couple of other issues.  The dentist suggested an orthodontist near us.

The doctor was very nice and kid friendly.  He took an x-ray.  It turns out, Noah is missing 3 adult teeth.  See image below.  The 2 on either side of his front teeth and one on the bottom near the back.  The plan is to have the other adult teeth on the front come in first to fill in the space of the missing tooth.  Then, in about 2 years, come back to the orthodontist to get braces to move anything around.  Last, the new 2nd tooth will be shaped like a incisor to look like the real 2nd tooth should.   For the bottom missing adult tooth, we will keep the baby tooth there permanently, since there is nothing to push it out.  Noah is happy that he doesn't need braces right now.  The gap doesn't seem to bother him.  Besides that, everything looks pretty good with his teeth.

Noah and I got home around 2:45.  Morry walked to pick up Evan and Jack.

Around 3:30, Jude came over.  Noah and Jude had a good time.  He left around 6:00.

I'm getting dinner ready now.

Morry and Evan should be home around 7 - 7:30 from baseball practice.

Here is the x-ray of Noah's teeth.  It's hard to see, but the doctor circled the spots with missing teeth.

Change of Plans

We walked to school today.

At 8:45 Morry and I went to an intro class for Camp Gladiator.  We signed up for a 1 month trial for the month of September.  Today, we had about a 30 minute workout where the instructor showed us various exercise moves.

Later, I went to the Pilates class.  After, some women from the class were going to Starbucks and invited me to join them.   I enjoyed that.

I got home after Morry had left to pick up the kids.  I started walking and met them about halfway.

Evan was supposed to have baseball practice at 5:30, but earlier today Morry noticed they changed the time to 7:30-9:30.

I left to tutor.

Around 4:30 Morry texted me that practice was changed once again. This time because of the rain.  They needed to get there at 5:00.  So, Morry dropped off Noah and Grandma and Papa's house and they went to baseball practice.

I came home for just a few minutes after tutoring and then left for 3rd grade back to school night.

I picked up Noah on my way home.

We got home around 8pm.  Morry and Evan got home a little before that.

Morry made dinner for Evan when they got home.

I had baked potatoes ready in the oven and Morry grilled burgers for us.  Noah ate one (without the bun) even though he had already had dinner with Grandma and Papa.

The boys are in bed now.  It was a long day for all of us.

Rain again

We walked to school.  On our way home it started drizzling and then it rained again.

We walked to get the kids from school.  Wade came home with us.  He and Evan played mostly outside this afternoon.

Morry left around 5pm to help a client of his set up a new store.

He is on his way home now.

For dinner the boys and I had turbot fish again.  I cooked the other filet tonight.

They were well behaved and are in bed now.

Wholy Bagel on Sunday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We decided to go to Wholy Bagel today since we were not able to go on Friday.  With Evan sick, Rachel didn't go out on Friday during the day at all.  It was very crowded on a Sunday, but we were able to eat.  It was just as good as always.  The boys enjoyed it.

The boys cleaned up and played outside in the cul-de-sac for a while.  Evan and I then went to the middle school.  Evan wanted to kick field goals again.  He made several.  After that, he and I stopped at Target to get something for the cats.  When we were there, we bumped into the dad of someone that Evan played basketball with and baseball against.  We talked for a while.

When we got home, Rachel, Evan and I walked over to Grandma and Papa's.  Aunt Susan was there.  So we said hello for a bit.  Noah stayed at home.

For dinner, I grilled steaks and Rachel made the turbot.  Evan ate a ton.  He probably had 8-10 oz of steak as well as a bunch of turbot, along with corn and fruit.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Buddy Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

After we all woke up this morning, we decided to go to HEB.  We needed to get things for the coming week.  We couldn't at night, and Sundays at HEB are crazy, so we went this morning.  The boys picked out things for their lunch.  We saw Aunt Sandy there.  She had made some fish to give out as samples.  The boys really liked it so we bought it to cook tomorrow night.  It is wild Canadian turbot.

After lunch, Rachel went to tutor.  I had to leave just before Rachel got home to run down to Kick Pleat's new location to try to set up the network.  The construction people had stained the floors so I couldn't get in to do the work.

Noah went to Jude's later in the afternoon.  I played outside with Evan for a bit.

Rachel went to a party for the mom of one of Noah's friends.  She was having her 5-year cancerversary party.  Rachel actually talked to this woman 5 years ago and helped her and later Noah became friends with her son.  Most of the husbands were not invited.

The boys and I got Craig O's pizza and we watched the movie, Concussion.  The boys had gotten candy from HEB for the occasion.

The boys are sleeping now and Rachel is home.

Until next time...

Dog Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, we weren't sure about Evan, but we decided he should at least try to go to school.  We walked to school and picked up Jack on the way.  We also bumped into Grandma and Papa.

When we were walking home after dropping the boys off, we saw Lizzy's puppy friend, Tucker, who is not a puppy anymore.  Tucker was very excited to see Lizzy.  They both were jumping around and seemed very happy.  Then another dog, Louie, came over and all three dogs were jumping around.  It was a dog party.  Lizzy was so happy that she trotted the entire way home.

Later in the morning, I left the house while Rachel went for a run.  I was going to meet Dmitriy and go see some of the old StoredIQ people.  While Rachel was on the run, the school nurse called and said Evan did not feel well and they were sending him home.  Rachel picked Evan up.

I went from meeting the StoredIQ people and then met my friend Mandy who is in from Tulsa.  Mandy is a friend of mine that I have kept in touch with since freshman year of college.  We saw her for breakfast two years ago when we were in Tulsa.  We went to lunch at Kerbey Lane.  It was a nice time.

I went home and worked.  Rachel walked to get Noah and Jack.

Shortly after Noah and Rachel got home, the doorbell rang.  It was one of the neighborhood boys, Vincent, wanting to play with Evan and Noah.  Evan stayed in, but Noah went out to play.

Evan seemed to be doing slightly better so we decided to see if he could eat at Cypress Grill.  He really likes it there and we kind of felt like he needed to eat and drink more.  They have a cherry limeade there that is really good and Evan loves it.  It appears that Rachel and I were right.  Once Evan really ate and drank more, we could see him getting more energy and feeling better.  He still is congested and is coughing, but I think he had low energy too.  I don't know if the congestion is messing with his sleep.

We are home and the boys will get ready for bed soon.

Until next time...

No School For Evan Today

Last night around 1am Evan came in our room complaining about not feeling well.  I went downstairs with him and had him take a shower.  He seemed to feel a little better after that.  In bed,  we propped up two pillows for him to sleep on.  He went to sleep after that.

This morning he still wasn't feeling well and maybe had a slight fever.  We kept him home from school.

Morry walked Noah and Jack to school.

I walked to pick them up after school.

I tutored today.  Since Morry had a meeting, I dropped the boys off with Grandma.

I picked them up around 6:30 and then we ate dinner at home.

Evan seemed to be feeling better with Grandma, but after dinner he started complaining again.

We'll see how the night goes.

Hopefully he can go to school tomorrow.

My Haircut, Baseball Practice, Neighborhood Kids

This morning we did our usual walk to school. There were no mud incidents today.

I went for a run later in the morning.

I had a hair appointment at 1:15, so Morry picked up the kids since I wasn't back in time.

Evan had baseball practice this afternoon.  While they were gone Noah played outside for a little while with the neighbors.

For dinner we had tacos.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Mud

The morning we walked to school and picked up Jack on the way.  When we got to the trail to the school, it was pretty muddy.  I walked ahead of the boys and called out for them to be careful.   Everyone was walking around the mud, but Evan chose to walk through it.  I'm not sure what happened, but somehow the mud was deeper than he though at one point and his whole left shoe became submerged.  He thought it was pretty cool looking.  I guess it eventually dried off during the day?  We were expecting to get a call from the school asking us to bring in shoes, but we never got the call.  Here's a picture.

I went to pilates today then stopped at Costco on my way home.

Morry had already left to pick up the boys when I got home.  I quickly put the food away and then ran to meet them at school.  I got there just before the kids came out.

Jack walked home (to his house) with us.  I think we will be doing this every day now.

Shortly after coming home Morry and Evan went to baseball practice.

They got home around 7:30 and we had fried rice for dinner.

Evan's complaining about not feeling well.  He's kind of grouchy right now.  He said his throat hurts.  We'll see how he feels in the morning.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

First Day of School 2016

The kids were in good moods this morning.

We walked to school and stopped to pick up Jack on the way.

As we were walking we saw Grandma coming back from her walk.  Noah insisted she come with us to take the boys to school.

Since it was the first day of school, parents could drop off kids in their classrooms.  First, we went to Evan's room and then Noah's.

We walked again to pick them up from school.  They seemed to enjoy their day.  Today, they didn't have any homework. Of course, they were happy about that.

The kids played outside with some of the neighborhood kids while we were making dinner.

For dinner we had various food. Morry had fried matzoh.  Noah had shrimp.  Evan had leftover pizza, and I had an omelette.

We took a walk after dinner.

Now, the boys are getting ready for bed.

Here are some pictures.

Last Day of Summer

Today is the last day before school starts.

We took it easy this morning.

Around noon we walked the trail around the Costco shopping center and then got Smoothie King smoothies.

Around 2pm, Wade's family picked up Evan to play.  Evan was there until 5:30 when I picked him up.

For dinner we had baked Buffalo chicken nuggets that Morry made based off of this recipe.  They were good.

For dessert we went to TCBY.

The boys are taking showers now and hopefully will get to bed soon.

Here are some pictures from today.

First Practice with TRPD

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan is no longer playing for the Bucs.  He had invitations from three teams, two were coached by fathers and I would be able to help out and continue coaching.  The third invitation he had was for a team that had professional coaches.  It's a program that, if he likes, he will be able to continue with through high school.  We allowed Evan to make the choice of what he wanted to do.  Evan chose the organization with professional coaches.  It's called TRPD.

This morning was Evan's first practice.  It was a two hour practice where they worked on hitting and stretching.  It was very organized and very productive.  On the way home, Evan told me he was glad that he chose TRPD.

We had leftovers for lunch and then stayed home all afternoon.

For dinner, we went with Grandma and Papa to Home Slice.  It was Papa's birthday this past Monday and he wanted to go with the us to Home Slice for his birthday (now that the boys are back in town).  It was very good, as usual.

We are home.  The boys will be getting ready for bed soon.

Until next time...

Back From Camp

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We had a light morning and then went to Wholy Bagel for lunch.  They had not run out of bagels today.

After that we stopped at HEB to get some fruit for the weekend and next week.

We came home for just a little bit before we left to go pick up the boys.  They brought the kids into the Livestrong offices downtown for us to pick them up rather than all of us going out to the camp.  When we got there, they were setting up to have the kids sing a song for the parents.  The boys were very happy to see us.  Then they had a little pizza party.

The boys seemed to have a really good time at camp.  They talked nonstop at the pizza party and on the way back.  We talked to the counselors.  Noah's counselor said that he was really supportive of everyone, was a good friend, and that he was the most self-sufficient kid in the bunk.  Evan's counselor talked about how mature Evan was and how he was the most well-behaved kid there.  Evan said he hung out with the counselors a lot.

From there, we drove to school for the Meet the Teachers event.  Noah is in class with his buddy Jude, and his friends from first grade - Lucy and Reed.  He was very happy.  His teacher is the same teacher Evan had for third grade, Ms. Crenshaw.  We loved her and so Noah was really happy to get her.  His seat is at the same table as his friends.

Evan is in class with his friend Wade.  His teacher seemed really nice.  She actually arranged it so Wade and Evan can sit with each other.

For dinner, we went to Grandma and Papa's.  It was a nice time.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

No Kids, but Busy Day

This morning the CBS Austin news woman came to our house to interview me for a coupon story.  I enjoyed that.  She was here for about 45 minutes.  She asked me some questions and had me show her how I find coupons and save money by preparing the kids lunches ahead of time.

Around noon I took Morry to the airport.

I stopped at Costco on my way home.

At 6pm I went to Mom and Dad's house to celebrate Dad's birthday.  Uncle Marvin, Aunt Sandy, and Joel came too.  Aunt Sandy made most of the dinner.

At 6pm we watched the news to see the coupon story.  Here's a link to the story and video.

Now, I'm just taking care of the animals and will get ready for bed soon.

Camp Kesem

Today we mostly took it easy.

We had lunch at home.

The kids played video games in afternoon and went outside with Morry for a little bit.

Around 3:30 we left the house.

First, we stopped in Wimberley to get a snack before camp. We got cobbler and ice cream at a diner in the square.

Then, we went to Camp Young Judaea nearby to drop off the kids at Camp Kesem.   It's their first time going to an overnight camp.  They seemed really excited when we pulled up to the camp.  I'm not sure what they were expecting, but Evan was especially excited when he saw all of the sports field they had.  The have a baseball field!  The drop off took about an hour.  We had to check in and all kids got lice and temperature checks.  Overall, the kids seemed pretty happy - a little nervous maybe.  Everyone there seemed really happy to be there and returning to the camp.  It was nice.

Morry and I went to Maudie's for dinner.

Here are some pictures from today.

Farmer's Market

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Rachel and Evan met Deborah at a farmer's market at Barton Creek Mall.  They got fresh baked bread and a large red bell pepper.  Apparently they tried lots of samples including some sort of mint lemonade the Evan really liked.  After the walk around the market, they went into the mall.  Evan wanted to go to sports store to look at hats as well as the Lego store.  They also stopped at Brookstones and sat in the massage chairs and put their feet in the foot massagers.

We had leftovers for lunch as well as the bread and pepper that Rachel and Evan got.

Rachel and I cleaned most of the afternoon.  I started cleaning my office this morning.

In the late afternoon, we went to a store that was having a sale on folding chairs that you bring to a picnic or to a baseball game, for example.  It has the UT logo on it.  We bought two.  Then we stopped at Half Price Books and the boys each got two books.  We also got some used DVDs.

For dinner we went to Zen.  It's kids eat free on Saturdays.  Everyone liked it.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Empty Wholy Bagel

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel went to HEB this morning before we went to Wholy Bagel.  We needed a few things.

Once she got home, we went to Wholy Bagel. When we got there, at just after 11:30, they had just two everything bagels left.  That was it.  Rachel got one of the everything bagels and Noah got some lox.  Then we went across the street to Einstein Bros. Bagels and I got a pizza bagel, Evan got a cranberry bagel and Noah got a pretzel bagel.

Later in the afternoon, Evan went over to Jack's to go swimming.

We walked over and picked Evan up at dinner time and ate dinner at Grandma and Papa's house.

Then we went to the food trailer night and got Italian ice.  The food trailer night was not very crowded.  Papa came with us.

The boys are about to go to bed.

Until next time...

This morning I went to get my blood drawn.

At 11am the boys and I met some people at the pool.  Lorena got a bunch of entering 3rd grade boys together to meet a new kids coming to the school.  We stayed at the pool until 2pm.

Around 4:45 we met a friend of mine and her sons for bowling.  The kids had a good time.

For dinner we had leftover grilled chicken and then went for a walk.

The kids are playing Minecraft now.

Here's a picture from today.

Uncle Mike

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning I went into Aaron's as we need to prepare for a meeting we have next week.

As I was coming home, Rachel left to drop Noah off at Owen's and then go to a doctor's appointment.

I had a phone meeting this afternoon.  Evan was home with me.

The boys and I played some baseball in the front yard after I finished working.

Uncle Mike came into town for a work thing today.  So we went over to Grandma and Papa's and they brought in Rudy's for dinner.  We had a nice time.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

Whole Foods Lunch

This morning I went for a run and then the boys and I went to Whole Foods for the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls lunch.  The boys were very good.

We took it easy in the afternoon and then had an early dinner. We had grilled chicken.

The boys made a movie trailer and short movie that we watched after dinner.  It was very cute.

I went with Lorena to see the movie Bad Moms and Deborah met us there.

I just got home.

The boys are in bed.

Morry and I dropped the kids off with Grandma around 11am and went out to lunch.  Today is the the 15 year anniversary of our first date.  We went to Taco Deli and then Dolce Neve for gelato.

Morry had a 2pm meeting, so we picked up the kids after lunch and dessert and went home.

This afternoon the boys and I ran some errands.  They got haircuts and then we went to Target.

For dinner we had chicken and zucchini.

The boys are playing video games now.

Here are some pictures from today.

Afternoon at the Movies

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We didn't have anything going on this morning so all of us slept in.  Later in the morning, Rachel, Evan and Noah went on a run/walk to Starbucks.  When they got there, they texted me and I met them at Starbucks and drove them home.

We had lunch and then met Deborah at the Alamo Drafthouse to watch Jason Bourne.  The boys and I enjoyed the movie.  I'm not so sure that Rachel liked it.

For dinner we just made little things for ourselves.

After dinner, Rachel, Lizzy and I went for a walk.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Velloway with Deborah

It was a busy day.  Early this morning Morry and Evan took Allison and Avery to the airport.

I tutored at 1pm.

Morry and the kids watched the Borne Identity at home.

After tutoring I went to HEB to pick up a few things and then met Deborah at Alamo to pick up our movie tickets for tomorrow.

We came back to the house and then Evan, Deborah, and I went for a bike ride.  We rode to the Velloway.  I rode one time around the 3 mile loop.  Deborah and Evan rode a second time and then we all rode back to our house.  I did about 9 miles and they rode about 12 miles.

For dinner we had burgers at home.

We went to TCBY for dessert.

The boys are watching the olympics now.

Soon, they will go to bed.

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Allison had four conference calls today.  She was already up and preparing when I woke up this morning.

The kids played upstairs most of the morning.  In the late morning, Rachel took Avery and Evan to the pool to go swimming.  Noah stayed at home.

When they got back they had lunch.

Later in the afternoon, I played wiffleball in the front yard with all the kids.

For dinner we went to Grandma and Papa's.  Aaron, Mandy, Jeremy and Nathan joined.  All the kids really had fun together.

The boys are about to go to bed.

Until next time...

Schlitterbahn

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We decided to go to Schlitterbahn today.  Both Allison and I were able to push off some work to join Rachel and the kids.

We stopped at HEB on the way out so everyone could get food to bring.  You're allowed to bring food into the park.

We got there as the park opened up.  Immediately, Allison and Noah went on the lazy river, while Rachel, Evan, Avery and I waited in line for the more popular slide.  The wait ended up being an hour even though we got there when the park opened.

The rest of the day we were able to stick together.   Everyone had a really nice time.  We stayed at the park until about 7:30pm.

After the park, we went to Rudy's for dinner.  Allison and Avery seemed to like it.

We stopped at Buc-ee's which is a giant gas station/market.  We just had to show it to Allison and Avery.  We got some dessert there.

We are home now and the boys are going to bed.

Until next time...

Roller Skating

This morning we took it easy at home.  I went for a run.

We had lunch at home and then I took the kids roller skating.  They had a good time.  At first, Noah was very timid on the rink.  Avery skated around with him a lot of the time and he made some progress.  Evan didn't want to leave.

We stopped off at the Domain to pick up discount Schlitterbahn tickets.

We also made a stop at 7-11 for Slurpees.

We met Morry and Allison on South Congress.  We had Home Slice for dinner and then walked around a little.  We all bought candy at Big Top Candy Shop.

We are home now.  The kids are playing on their ipads.

Soon, they will get ready for bed.

Here are some pictures from today.

Monday and Tuesday

Yesterday I took the kids to our community pool.  They had a good time.  They were there for 4 hours, and even after that, still didn't want to leave.

Today, we met Lorena, Owen, and Liam at the UT campus.  We took the kids bowling at the UT student union and then ate at the food court there.  We walked around campus a little bit and went into the bookstore.

From there, we went downtown for Voodoo Donuts. The kids really enjoyed that!

For dinner we ate at Hula Hut.

The kids had fun playing together at home tonight.

They are getting ready for bed now.

Here are some pictures of our day.
