School and Running

This morning when I dropped Noah off he started crying. Miss Terrie wasn’t in the room, so I thought maybe he was upset she wasn’t there. The other teacher Miss Alexis was there though.

After dropping off the kids at school I met a trainer from Lifetime Fitness at the trail across from the gym. She organizes a running club, but they meet at 8:30 on Tues/Thurs so I can’t go since that’s when I take the boys to school. Anyway, she offered to meet me and help me with my running. Today, she had me run a mile so she could get a feel of where I was and how I run. I ran a mile in 8 minutes and 40 seconds. She seemed happy with my speed and form. She did offer some suggestions. After that she had me run about another mile and half. We are planning to meet again on Tuesday.

After running I went over to Groovy Lube. Ever since we got an inspection a few weeks ago I have notice the gas mileage decreased in my car. I used to get 19 or 20mpg and now I’m getting 16 or 17mpg. The guy said he’d take a look at my car, though he claimed they don’t touch anything that would affect the gas mileage when they do inspections. He quickly looked at the car and didn’t see anything. He thinks we should do the 60,000 mile check up (which we are due to get) and perhaps we just need new spark plugs? He wanted me to track the gas mileage again for this tank and let him know how it turns out. I was kind of annoyed because I have been tracking the gas mileage for the last few weeks. I don’t see how it would be any different this week. He didn’t do anything.

After that I went home for a little bit and then it was time to pick up the boys. When I picked up Noah they confirmed that he had been crying because Terrie wasn’t in the room. As soon as she came in Noah stopped crying. Both Evan and Noah were happy and seemed to have a good day at school.

When we got home I put Noah down for a nap and he actually napped.

Blanca came 4pm and I tutored.

I got home around 6:30. For dinner we had ribs and baked potatoes.

We are about to put the boys to bed.

Blanca is coming back at 8:30pm to babysit for us.

We are going to the Alamo Draft House for the Spaceballs Quote-along and Bill Pullman (from Spaceballs) will be there. Morry is super excited.

Despicable Me

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel is still in Dallas. So Gabby came over to babysit today. She got here around 7:30. Noah heard the door, I guess, and got up then. He was very excited to see Gabby. I went to work.

Around 11:15, I came home. Evan and Noah are starting their new pre-school year on August 24. This pre-school has the teacher come to the house just before school starts to observe the children in their natural environment. Evan's teacher, Miss Julie, came first. She read a book to Evan and Evan brought her into his room.

Miss Alexis, Noah's teacher, came over at noon. They actually overlapped a bit. Noah showed her his new backpack. Noah also conned her into giving him a ton of stickers.

After that I got the boys lunch and went back to work.

I got home around 5:15 and got the kids ready to go see Despicable Me. I decided we'd see the 6:40 showing at the mall. We could go and have dinner at Chick-Fil-A in the food court and then go see the movie. That worked out really well.

At the movies, I got a medium popcorn to share (that was actually free) with Noah and Evan got an Icee. Noah had a ton of popcorn and nearly all of the 4 clementines that I had peeled and brought with us. They both seemed to really enjoy the movie. At some point during the movie, Evan turned to me and said "This is a really good movie." They both were absolutely terrific. They never misbehaved and they sat still the whole time.

We came home and they both were tired. It was a big day and neither napped. They are in bed now.

Until next time...
