Noah's turn at the Dentist

Today Noah and I went to the dentist. Everything looked good but it took a long time. I was due for x-rays. Noah did very well. No cavities, but he does still have that spot on a molar in the back that we need to keep an eye on. It's a sticky dark spot that may need to be taken care of at some point, but they weren't really concerned. We just need to be extra careful about really brushing well there. We had the same hygienist as last week and again, she was great with Noah. For Noah's prize, he picked out bubbles.

After the dentist Cole came over to our house. They were both excited to see each other and played well together.

Cole's mom picked him up and then we got Evan at school.

Before dinner, there were some kids playing outside. Evan asked to go out with them. They all played football in our yard for a while.

For dinner we had a General Tso's chicken dinner from Sam's Club.

We just got the boys ready for bed and Morry is reading to them now.

Another rough morning

Noah woke up early this morning while Morry was taking Evan to school. Noah was pretty good until it was time to leave for school. He started throwing a fit. I had to strap him in his car seat first and then come back in the house to get the rest of his stuff for school. He calmed down on the drive.

I went to Sams Club after dropping Noah off at school.

I went for a 3 mile run with Lizzy.

Morry had a meeting here at the house.

I picked up Noah and we went to the library and then HEB to drop off our Redbox movie.

Once we got home I tried to quickly make my lunch to eat before getting Evan at school. Morry was running out to the post office so he offered to pick up Evan at school.

I tutored one student tonight while Morry gave the boys dinner. I just got home and we got the boys ready for bed. Now we are going to eat our dinner.

First Ever Movie Night

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

When I woke up today, I decided I'd take the boys to the Wildflower Park.  I wasn't sure if Rachel would come along or not.  But she got up shortly after me and the four of us went to the park.  As soon as we got there, Noah told us he needed to poop.  I drove Noah back home while leaving Rachel and Evan.  We got home, went to the bathroom and Noah said "Daddy, I was just tricking you.  I don't need to poop."  Needless to say, I did not take this revelation well.  I told him he needed to stay on the toilet until he went.  After about 15 minutes of him screaming and crying, I told him I was going back to the park without him and pretended to leave.  He freaked out and told me he would go to the bathroom.  He told me he'd "try my best".  He did go and we went back to the park.

Evan and Noah had a great time while we were there.  They were playing Star Wars.

When we got home, Evan and Noah went in the backyard where Noah pitched some more to Evan while Rachel and I made lunch.

When we were finished lunch, we went outside and Evan did very well riding his bike.  Here's some video of it:

Next we had nap time.  Rachel had an idea that after nap time that we offer having a movie night where we eat dinner while watching a movie of their choice, maybe they would clean up without a fight.  She was right and they cleaned up the game room and their rooms with little problems.

They said they wanted to watch Cars 2, so I reserved it at a Redbox at the Walgreen's near us.  I went to pick it up and the touch screen wouldn't work.  Several of us who were trying to get movies worked on it to no avail.  One lady even through the breaker that the box was plugged into.  It must have had a battery backup because it didn't shut down.  I called the phone number on it and they credited my account while saying they'd have someone out to look at the kiosk within 24 to 48 hours.  So I drove over to HEB and picked up the movie there.

I grilled chicken when I got home while Rachel got food ready for the boys.

We pulled out the TV trays in the game room and watched the movie there.  The boys sat on a towel and ate on the floor.  We had a good time.

The boys are now in bed.  They were pretty tired.

Until next time...

Busy Morning

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, I had the StoredIQ office manager come over to the house to help me get some QuickBooks stuff in order, so I could generate 1099s for the people who have been helping me.  Because of that, Rachel planned to take the boys out. She arranged to meet one of the moms from the Mom's group, Jodie.  Evan and Jodie's son Allen went to preschool together for the first two years of preschool.  Jodie has another boy Thomas, who is a year older than Noah.

Pamela, the office manager, got to our house around 9:30.  Rachel told Noah that she'd be getting him dressed when she came back upstairs.  Of course, Noah threw a massive fit for the entire time Rachel was gone and even more when Rachel came back upstairs.  She ended up putting Noah into the car naked.  When they got to Jodie's, Rachel sent Evan in while she dealt with Noah.  After a little while there, Noah calmed down.  Rachel said that Evan and Noah played together mostly, but all the boys were talking during lunch so they all played together after lunch.

When they got home, the boys and I played some Super Mario Bros, and then it was nap time.

After naps, Evan and Noah first played Angry Birds on the computer, and then they went outside.  Noah's throwing has gotten good enough that he pitches the ball to Evan who hits it.  It's nice that they can do that.  Maybe Noah will turn into a pitcher.

We went to a place called the Bakehouse for dinner.  The boys were mostly well behaved there.

We just put the boys to bed.  Evan is playing Angry Birds in his room for a bit.  But both boys are quiet.

Until next time...

Friday

The boys had good days at school. Noah's class celebrated Chinese New Year and had a little parade on the playground. They made paper lanterns and little kites.

Evan said he had a good day too.

When Noah came home from school I worked with him on reading and writing. He really likes that. He asks to do it. I think he needs more challenging tasks at times and this is good for him. He is reading a few words and we are working on writing his letters and numbers.

For dinner we went downtown to Garridos for dinner. We had a Groupon that was expiring soon. The kids were not well behaved at first, then towards the end they got better. After dinner Morry and Evan got smoothies. Noah didn't want one. I picked up an order from Mellow Johnny's. They have a good deal on a bike shorts/jersey set and I ordered it online the other day and had it sent to the store.

We got the boys ready for bed and Morry is reading to them now.

The Dentist (Evan)

This morning I went for a run with Noah and Lizzy.

Noah had his sports class. His usual teacher wasn't there, but he still had a good time.

We picked Evan up a few minutes early from school so we could get to his dentist appointment.

We had a to wait a while to be seen.

Both boys were very good. Noah got to be the helper. He really enjoyed that. You can see some pictures and video below. Evan's teeth look good and we got to see his adult teeth in the x-rays. He really liked seeing those.

For dinner we had eggs and cornbread.

Tonight was clean up night.

Morry is reading to the boys now.

Thunderstorms

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Last night, around 2am, we had thunderstorms roll in.  It was loud and lasted until after 7am.  I woke up.  Rachel said she heard the rain but now the thunder.  It was still bad when I got up around 6:20.  I was planning on getting Evan up at 6:30, but apparently the thunderstorms woke him up too, so he came in our room when I got up.  He didn't seem scared though.

Because he got up early, we were ready early for school.  I drove him over there and parked in front since the path was probably going to be muddy.  Evan was the third kid in the cafeteria.  I don't think anyone from his class showed up for another 10 minutes.  I waited with him until his friends came.

When I got home, I laid down for a bit until Rachel's alarm went off to get up to take Noah to school.

Noah was good until Rachel wanted to leave.  Then he started throwing a fit.  He said that I hadn't taken him to school in a long time.  So I went with Rachel to take Noah to school.

When we got home, Rachel laid down for a bit before she left to go to a Pilates class.

On the way home from Pilates, Rachel picked Noah up and went to CVS to buy some things.  They were having a sale on things we needed.  Rachel also picked up the first Cadbury Creme Eggs of the season.

Rachel stayed at home for a bit before leaving to get Evan.  Noah stayed home with me.

When she got back, she gave the boys haircuts.  They wanted her to do it.

Rachel went to tutor and Gabby came to babysat.

After I finished worked, I took the boys to deposit some MB Squared checks.  Then we went to McDonald's for dinner.  After that I had to stop at Office Depot to pick up some 1099 forms for people who have done work for me.

We came home, played a bit of Super Mario Brothers, then I got the boys ready for bed.

Until next time...

Drenched

We got a good rain today. It was misty most of the day.

Noah and I went to the library for storytime. I hadn't been to this particular library for storytime in a while, but someone recommended it recently. As we were parking it started to pour down rain. Noah and I got soaked. It wasn't that far to the building but there were puddles everywhere and my feet got all wet too.

Noah seemed to enjoy storytime. The librarian read a few books. One, Noah and I liked a lot. It's called Pete the Cat. "Pete the Cat goes walking down the street wearing his brand new white shoes. Along the way, his shoes change from white to red to blue to brown to WET as we steps in piles of strawberries, blueberries and other big messes! But no matter what color his shoes are are, Pete keeps movin' and groovin' and singing his song...because it's all good."

After the librarian read, the kids made hats (one book was about hats). The kids could pick from clown hats or crowns. Noah picked a crown. He decorated it and wore it all day.

Noah and I came home and had lunch. Then, Noah went to Cole's house for a playdate. They had a lot of fun.

From there, we picked up Evan from school and then went over to Jax's house for a playdate for Evan. Jax's mom invited us to stay and hang out. Noah didn't want to stay. He wouldn't even come in the house. He said he wanted to take a nap at home. So, I dropped off Noah at home with Morry and went back to Jax's house.

For dinner we had tacos, salad, and cornbread.

The boys are in bed now.

Back to Reality

Morry and I had a nice little getaway, but today it was back to work.

Noah gave me a hard time this morning. I had to pick him up and hold him down to get him strapped in his car seat.

At 1pm, the parents were invited to Noah's class for a surprise party for his teacher. We had cupcakes and sang happy birthday.

After school Noah and I went to HEB. It took a very long time. I had to wait in the pharmacy line for a little while. Noah had to go to the bathroom. Then, checking out took forever. There was no bagger. I tried to start bagging on my own but then Noah wasn't staying by the cart.

We had to park in front of Evan's school because I was worried we wouldn't have time to go home or to the trail.

When we got home from picking up Evan, I quickly put away the refrigerated items and then went outside with Evan on his scooter for just 5 minutes. I then had to take a quick shower and get ready for tutoring.

I finished just in time for when Blanca got here.

I got home at 7:30. Morry had already fed the boys dinner and Evan was playing Mario Brothers on the Wii. Morry and I had hamburgers (veggie burger for me).

The boys are in bed now.

Parents' Getaway

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

For Hanukkah, Grandma and Papa paid for a Parents' Getaway deal that through Plum District for the Horseshoe Bay Resort.  The deal included two nights at the hotel, dinner for two one night, breakfast both mornings, a massage for each of us, and dessert delivered to the room each night.  So Grandma and Papa came on Friday afternoon when Rachel was picking Noah up from school.  Noah was very happy to see them when he got back.  Then everyone except for me walked to pick Evan up from school.  When they returned, Rachel and I packed up the car and left.

Grandma and Papa took Evan and Noah to Mangieri's for dinner.  They had tried to go to Waterloo Ice House but there was an hour wait.  The boys ate well.  Evan informed Grandma and Papa that there was an ice cream place next to Waterloo.  So they went there afterwards.  The boys got bubblegum ice cream but then decided they didn't like it.

On Saturday morning, they went to Dick Nichols Park.  They walked around the trail there which is about a mile. Noah and Evan each walked.  Then they went to Circle C Park for a picnic lunch.  The boys played on the playground there.

For dinner they went to Cheddar's.  They were seated fairly quickly.  The waiter came and took their order.  When the food was delivered, Grandma's food was wrong.  They took it back to get her the right meal.  Unfortunately, everyone finished their food and she never got her meal.  The manager, apparently, took a while to handle the situation right.  At first she wanted to "comp" the meal - which made no sense considering the meal had yet to be delivered.  Eventually they got the food to go.

Today, Gabby came to take care of Evan and Noah while Grandma and Papa went to Hillel.  Everyone got home around the same time - about 3pm today.

I made pasta for dinner for the boys and me.  We called the boys down for dinner and only Evan came.  Noah threw a fit and didn't want to come down.  Eventually it go quiet upstairs.  Noah feel asleep in the game room.  After dinner, we tried to move Noah to his bed but he woke up in a terrible mood.  Evan is in bed now, but Noah is downstairs eating his dinner.

Until next time...

Popcorn

This morning I went for a 3 mile run with Noah and Lizzy. Lizzy was really dragging towards the end. I'm wondering if it's ok for her to be running with me. I know she needs the exercise.

Today was some national Popcorn Day. So, this popcorn store was having a free tasting and bag of popcorn deal. Noah and I went over there. It is on the Drag so parking was tough. I finally got a spot in their parking lot, but I had to wait for someone to leave. Noah liked tasting the different popcorns, but surprisingly he didn't really like the sweet ones, just the salty ones. We got a free bag of cheddar popcorn and I bought a small bag of chocolate/cherry popcorn.

After that we went to Noah's sports class. The last 15 minutes they had the parents come in so the kids could show us what they have been learning. Noah was so excited to have us in there with him.

We came home for a few minutes and then I picked up Evan from school. After school I dropped Evan off at Ben's house for a planned play date. It sounds like they had a good time. Evan rode his scooter with Ben in their cul-de-sac.

This afternoon we had the kids clean up.

For dinner I made a frittata and roasted garlic with bread.

After dinner I helped Evan with his homework. He had to write 3 sentences. One with an -ed verb, one with an -ing verb, and then one with both types of verbs.

I had a last minute tutoring scheduled for 8pm, so Morry put the kids to bed.

Pilates

This morning Noah was happy to see Cole at school. He spotted his water bottle first on the shelf and then we saw Cole washing his hands.

I started my Pilates classes today. They meet once a week for 8 weeks. It's a special class for breast cancer survivors at Ballet Austin. I knew one other person in the class. I would say there were maybe 15 -20 women mostly around my age.

I picked up a few things at HEB and then got Noah at school. He seemed to have a good day.

Noah didn't want to come with me to get Evan, so he stayed home with Morry.

Evan was in a good mood.

Gabby came at 4pm and I tutored.

For dinner we had corned beef.

Morry and the boys are playing Mario Brothers on the Wii and then we'll get them ready for bed.

Austin Winter

It's nice living in Austin in the winter. It was in the 70s today and sunny.

This morning I went for a 3 mile run with Noah and Lizzy.

For lunch, Noah and I sat outside in the backyard. He played outside while I got lunch ready and while I cleaned up.

After lunch Noah and I did reading and writing. Noah enjoys that one-on-one time and he's doing well. He was reading a few sentences. "I see red." "I see yellow." "I see blue."

For some reason Noah got cranky when it was time to get Evan from school.

When we got home Evan asked for shaved ice, so I made some for the boys.

At nap time I did some cleaning.

For dinner we had buffalo chicken (in the crockpot), asparagus, and bread with roasted garlic.

I tutored for 2 hours tonight. Morry got the boys ready for bed. Evan was asleep when I got home. Noah is still up.

84 Pounds

This morning I wanted to go for a run. Noah was not behaving. He wouldn't get dressed and he wouldn't let me get him dressed either. I had to hold him down to get underwear and pants on him. I left his shirt on and didn't bother with shoes and socks. I was only able to go for a 2 mile run for two reasons. 1) We didn't have that much time. 2) The stroller was really heavy. I brought Lizzy with us too. We weighed the boys tonight. Evan weighs 49 lbs and Noah weighs 35 lbs.

Gabby came over at 11am and stayed until 2:30.

Morry had meetings and was out of the house most of the day. He got home around 3pm. We were going to go to Central Market then, but when I went to tell Noah it was time to go he was asleep. We let him sleep a little bit longer.

We all went to Central Market and picked out food for dinner tonight and for the rest of the week.

For dinner the boys and I had crab and Morry had steak.

We just got Evan and Noah ready for bed. Morry read Big Plans to them.

Let's hope they go to sleep soon. Evan goes back to school tomorrow.

Saturday and Sunday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Again I was delinquent in writing the blog.  Again, I was doing work last night until late.

Yesterday, when the boys got up, they woke Grandmom up so they could get her iPad and iPhone.  I could hear Evan yelling and cheering with excitement as he played with the games on the phone.

I went over with the father of one of Evan's friends to sign him up for tee ball.  We were trying to get the two boys on the same team for this year.  Additionally, there is a third boy from Evan's class who wants to play with Evan.  As I was in line to sign up, one of the people who was helping to get the boys registered was the father of Evan's friend Benjamin from preschool.  I talked to him about having Evan play with him.  It sounds like Evan will probably have lots of friends on his team.  It's exciting.

For lunch, we went to Which Wich.  The boys ate well there. Evan finished his whole jelly sandwich.

Then we went to the shoe store, 1379.  Evan and Noah each got new sneakers and Evan got new cleats for baseball, as well as a new bat.

Later in the afternoon, Matt, Rachael and Max came down.  Max is very cute and was having a good time playing with the toys here.  We went with them to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen.

This morning, we decided to take Evan and Noah to the park to get them away from the iPhone and iPad.  Evan was doing very well with the monkey bars.

We had brunch at Jim's Restaurant.

We stayed at home in the afternoon.

For dinner, we decided to meet Rachel at Fresh Choice.  She was coming home from Dallas and that's in North Austin.  We figured we could eat dinner earlier.  Unfortunately, Fresh Choice went out of business so we ended up at Manny's Uptown Kitchen.  The boys ate well there.  Rachel brought Noah home and he fell asleep in the car.

Both boys are sleeping now.

Until next time...

Thursday and Friday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel went to Dallas yesterday so the responsibility of the blog fell on my shoulders.  However, I forgot to write it last night.  In my defense, I was up late working.  I realized when I got into bed that it hadn't been written but I was too tired.  So today's blog will encompass both days.

Yesterday, I took Evan to school.  It was really windy.  I put both a sweatshirt and jacket on Evan because I knew it would be cold walking the path.

After lunch, Rachel and I took Noah to sports class.  They are playing basketball now.  They use the same kids basketball hoop that we have.  Noah did a very good job.  The teacher even asked us if we had the hoop at home since Noah was doing so well.  The teacher also said that Noah sings the loudest.

When we got home, Rachel packed up and left for Dallas.  I took Noah to pick up Evan from school.

We came home and I did some work and then we left to pick Grandmom up from the airport.  We went to Cypress Grill for dinner.

I had a 10pm meeting last night.

This morning, I took Evan to school again.  It was actually colder than yesterday but the wind wasn't nearly as bad so it felt much better.

Grandmom took Noah to school while I did work.

For lunch, Grandmom and I went to Applebee's and then we picked Noah up from school.

Grandmom took Noah to pick Evan up from school.  I told Noah he was the boss and would have to tell Grandmom what to do and where to go to pick up Evan.  I think Noah liked that.

Before dinner, we went to Toys R Us tonight and got GeoTrax for Noah and Legos for Evan.  Then we picked up Chick-fil-A for dinner.  The boys couldn't eat fast enough because they wanted to play with their toys.  They played with them until they fell asleep.

Until next time...

No Shoes

Again, Noah was cranky this morning. Well, he was ok until it was time to get dressed. I got him dressed and was about to put on his shoes. He was insisting on wearing his Crocs. The kids are not allowed to wear sandals to school. He knows this. I gave him three other shoes to choose from, but he only wanted his Crocs. I ended up taking him to school without shoes on. Once we pulled into the parking lot he decided he would let me put his shoes on him. I don't know why this started up again.

I had a meeting for mbsquared. A baker from San Antonio drove here to meet with me. The meeting went well.

The meeting lasted until it was time to get Noah.

Noah and I went to the library after school. We got a couple of books. A few years ago there was a book we got that Evan loved called Big Plans. I found it. Evan did not remember it when he saw it at home. Morry read it tonight to the boys.

This afternoon Gabby came over and I had a late night of tutoring. I got home around 8:45.

Morry gave the boys dinner and got them ready for bed.

Noah the Cranky

This morning Noah was cranky. I had planned on maybe going to Evan's school for lunch. I wanted to see how Noah was doing. I thought if I suggested we meet Evan for lunch, that would cheer up Noah. He was very excited and we hurried to get out and get the lunches (for Noah and I) packed. Evan's class eats really early at 10:30am.

When we got to the cafeteria Evan's class had just sat down at their table. Sometimes there is extra room at the table for visitors, but today there were just 2 extra spots at the end of the table. We sat at the visitors table in the back of the cafeteria. That's when Noah's tantrum began. It lasted for most of the lunch. He was throwing a fit because we couldn't sit at the end of the table. I tried reasoning with him and explaining why. I offered to let him sit there with the class. Nothing worked. The lunch was miserable. I couldn't really talk to Evan. Noah was hitting me and trying to pinch me. He finally calmed down with about 5 minutes of lunch left. Evan and Noah didn't end up eating much of their lunch. That's the last time I take Noah to school for a while.

We needed to go to HEB, so we went there after lunch. Noah was pretty good at HEB. We ended up seeing a few people we knew while we were shopping there.

At home, Noah and I worked on reading. I have these reading/writing workbooks from when I helped in a kindergarten class while getting certified. Noah really liked doing those. It was mostly circling pictures that started with certain letters, and other alphabet activities.

Noah wanted to stay at home while I picked up Evan.

For the kids' snack I made shaved ice.

During naps I worked on some MB Squared stuff.

I tutored at 6:15.

Morry gave the kids dinner and got them ready for bed. We ate when I got home. I put a pork tenderloin in the crock pot and we had baked and sweet potatoes with it.

There were a lot of stars visible in the sky tonight. We tried taking the boys outside to look at them, but they got super hyper outside and didn't really seem interested in the stars.

The boys have been put to bed, but Evan just came downstairs to show me a Lego creation.

Monday stuff

Morry said Evan seemed tired this morning. Noah insisted Morry get him dressed.

When I was dropping off Noah at school Cole was also coming in. They seemed excited to see each other.

While the boys were at school I got some things done around the house.

After picking up Noah we went to HEB to pick up medicine and then to the bank.

Noah decided he wanted to stay at home while I picked Evan up.

The weather wasn't great today and it was cold and misty at pick up. I parked and walked on the back path. There were a ton of cars in the front of the school and at the drive through. I'm glad I didn't have to wait in that.

Blanca came and I tutored. The boys played Geo Trax the whole time Blanca was here. We brought up some GeoTrax to the game room and they acted like they were new toys. They had been in the garage for a while.

For dinner we had leftover pizza.

We just got the boys ready for bed and now Morry is reading to them.

End of Football

This morning we were able to sleep in some. The boys woke up at their normal time, but they played pretty well together in the game room.

At lunchtime I went to a meeting. The Texas Rollergirls has a rec league and I went to find out more information. The meeting was packed and it was hard to hear since I was in the back. I'm trying to decide if I want to join. There's not an easy way to try it out since there's a lot of equipment you have to buy (skates, pads, helmet, etc). I'm going to see if I can get some cheap or used ones so I can try it out and see if I like it.

While I was at the meeting Morry took the boys to the Wildflower Park and then McDonalds for lunch. I met them at McDonald's on my way home, but didn't eat there.

The Steelers played this afternoon and they lost. So, there's no more football in this house until next season.

The boys and I picked up Papa John's pizza while Morry finished watching the game.

We had clean up night tonight. Evan gave us a really hard time and he didn't get his dessert. Noah cleaned up well and he's eating his shaved ice (that I made at home).

Evan's in bed and I'm about to get Noah ready for bed.

Bull Riding

Today the weather was really nice. We walked around the lake around lunch time. I packed food for the boys to eat. They both sat in the stroller the whole time. I think they were tired.

When we got home Morry and I ate lunch.

I took Evan to a birthday party. Noah stayed home while Morry did some work.

At the birthday party they had a bull riding machine. Evan went on it multiple times. You can see the video below. Evan had fun at the party. A lot of his classmates were there. He spent a lot of time playing with Jack.

For dinner, Morry picked up Carinos.

We just got the boys ready for bed.

Here's a video from the birthday party today.

And, here's a video from Noah's sports class the other day.

Parents Night Out

Hello Everyone, this is Morry.

Last night I dutifully set my alarm to get up to Evan to school in the morning.  I woke up this morning and it was still dark so I rolled over to make sure that I had my alarm set.  I did, so I rolled back over.  Then it hit me, what time did that say?  Well I had never changed the time for my alarm back to what it needed to be now that school is back on.  It was 24 minutes after I normally get up.  I jumped up, got dressed and woke Evan up.  He was very tired.  He's been staying up late during the break so I think two straight mornings of getting up early got to him.

Evan said he wanted to walk to school.  To get there on time, he was going to need to run like he did for Rachel yesterday.  The only problem was that he was moving very slowly and not running.  Evan is very competitive so I had to challenge him to a race.  The two of us ran more than half of the way and we got to school on time.

When I got home, Noah was up.  I got some breakfast for him.  Rachel took him to school.

Rachel went for a run after dropping Noah off at school .  Then she made a run to Sam's Club run.   While there, she got a Roomba.  The flooring people recommended that since the hardwood shows more dirt.  They suggested just letting it run once a day or so.  It seemed to pick things up well.

Noah stayed home while Rachel went to get Evan.  He said he was tired.

When Evan got home, he thought the Roomba was really cool.  He came up to tell me to look at it.

Tonight, we had planned a double date with our friends Will and Bradford.  We had signed Evan and Noah up for a Parents' Night Out at the Little Gym.  We dropped them off at 6:30 and met Will and Bradford at Z'Tejas downtown.  We sat outside because it was in the 70s today.  It was a beautiful night.  The food was good.  After that we walked to a bar called the Kung Fu Saloon.  They have all these old arcade games there and free Skeeball.  Will and I played some video games and played foosball as well.

We picked the boys up and are getting them ready for bed.

Until next time...

Evan - Back to School

Today was Evan's first day back at school. Morry didn't sleep well last night so I got Evan up and took him to school. Even though Evan was tired this morning he was in good mood. We walked to school and he ran most of the way.

When Noah woke up he was upset Evan wasn't there. He threw a little fit.

At 12:30 we went to sports class. They did basketball today. Noah had fun.

Blanca came over at 3:15.

I had a physical therapy appointment in Dripping Springs, about 40 minutes away. This lady was highly recommended and I was able to get a spot after she had a cancellation. When I tried to make an appointment earlier, she was booked for 2 months. I had a good session. She showed me some exercises and stretches. I also got a therapy massage. She was very good. I go back in a few weeks for a follow up.

I got home around 6:45.

For dinner we had flank steak and couscous.

Morry is reading to the boys now.

Locomotion with Evan

Today was Noah's first day back at school. Evan and I dropped him off and had plans to go bowling.

The bowling alley was packed, mostly with a seniors league. They only had 3 lanes for groups not with the league and those were taken. They told us the wait could be anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. We waited a little while, but decided not to wait any more.

Evan wanted to go to a jumpy place. Across the street was Locomotion so we went there. First, we went to Starbucks. I got coffee and Evan got a smoothie and a cake pop. We spent the rest of the time at Locomotion before it was time to get Noah. Evan had fun, of course.

Noah was happy to see us.

When we got home Evan and I had lunch and shortly after Noah asked for nap time. During naps I did some mbsquared work.

Gabby came at 4pm and I tutored.

Morry made pasta for dinner.

After dinner, Evan, Lizzy, and I took a short walk.

Noah is in bed and Morry is reading to Evan now.

Evan's Friends

This morning Evan's friend Jack came over to play for a little bit. He left before lunch.

Evan and Noah didn't eat very much at lunch for some reason.

We took it easy at home this afternoon.

Later in the afternoon Evan and Noah wanted to ride bikes in the cul-de-sac. We went down there and rang our neighbor's door to see if Nathan wanted to play. He was one of the kids over here for New Years. He and his mom came out and the boys had fun. Nathan has a stomp rocket that the boys enjoyed playing with.

For dinner we had leftovers.

After dinner the boys and I took a short walk with Lizzy.

Now we are going to get them ready for bed.

Picnic at the Playground

Late morning I took the boys to the school playground. Noah gave me a hard time leaving the house. He didn't want to leave, but I said, "Too bad. We're going." He made it extremely difficult to get him dressed. I threatened to throw him naked into the stroller. He eventually let me put on his clothes (except his shoes). At one point he threw his sweatshirt out of the stroller and wheel ran over it. He finally calmed down as we got closer to the school.

At the school the boys played on the playground and then we played baseball. I pitched to Evan and then Noah decided he wanted a turn. He actually hit quite a few balls that I pitched to him.

I packed a picnic lunch for the boys and we ate at a table there.

We played a little more after lunch and then walked home. Noah walked the whole way home.

At 4pm a handy man came over to give us some ideas for putting up a door in the upstairs office/nook.

While he was here the doorbell rang. Evan's friend Jack was riding his bike near our house and wanted to see if Evan wanted to come play in the cul-de-sac. Jack was with his mom and sister so Evan, Noah, and I joined them down the street. Evan rode his bike just a little bit, but spent most of the time on his scooter. Noah had fun on his tricycle.

Tonight, we went to Petco, Toys R Us (to use some gift cards), and Blue Bamboo to take home food.

We just finished eating dinner at home and now we'll get the boys ready for bed.

Beautiful First Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Well the "sleepover" was a success last night as Evan and Noah both slept well in the game room in their sleeping bags.  I don't know what time they got up because they let us sleep but I think it was a bit later than normal.  I don't think I heard any noise until after 8am.  We did put them to bed early tonight given that they were up so late last night.

When we did get up, we saw that today was a beautiful day.  It was supposed to be sunny with a high of 65.  We decided to drive to the lake and walk around the trail.  We brought Lizzy.  When we got out, we forgot to grab a tennis ball for Lizzy so we didn't end up letting her swim.  We knew she'd just bark at us to throw her a ball but we didn't have one.  The walk was very nice and everyone enjoyed it until Noah declared he was too cold near the end.

When we got home, Noah and Evan had quiet time until the Steelers game started.  Evan watched the whole game with me and Noah watched most of it.  During every Steelers game, Evan has me throw the football to him.  Today he drew on a piece of paper a play that he wanted to run.  We recorded it so you can watch it.  It's very funny.

For dinner, we just had leftovers from last night.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

New Year's Eve

The boys were kind of cranky this morning. We had planned on taking a walk to the school playground, but Noah especially was not in a good mood. The boys did play outside in the backyard. The weather was very nice today.

This afternoon we started getting ready for our party. I baked the cookies while Morry ran out to Salt Lick to pick up the food.

We had a nice party. Everyone left around 11pm. Evan and Noah stayed up until midnight. They wanted to sleep in their sleeping bags in the game room tonight so we let them. Noah is already asleep on the couch and Evan will probably be asleep soon.

Here are some pics and a video.

Happy New Year!
