Biker Gang

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

At some point early this morning, I heard Rachel exclaim "Ow, Flash!"  Apparently he attacked her finger because she must have moved it in her sleep.

Rachel stayed in bed when I came down to start working.  The boys stayed upstairs, but were already awake.  The boys came down later and got themselves cereal.

In the late morning, the doorbell rang.  It was the twin boys, Connor and Christian, from across the street.  They wanted to see if Evan and Noah could come out, ride bikes and play.  Noah couldn't go because he's still sick but Evan went out with them.

The boys came in for a bit and then went back out, riding their bikes down Larue Belle Lane and Cove.  Around 3pm, I was getting ready to run to HEB and I saw the three of them riding their bikes around.  I joked that they were a biker gang.

I bought a bunch of stuff for New Year's Eve at HEB.  We're going to do fondue at home tomorrow night.  Maybe we'll rent a movie or something.

When I came home Evan, Christian and Connor were still playing but they followed me into the house.  Evan asked me to make popcorn for them.  Then the three boys went into the backyard and ate the popcorn out there.

Around 5:15 the twins had to go home.  They want to play again tomorrow.

I made spaghetti for dinner for the boys.  Rachel, who is still sick as well, had leftover matzoh ball soup.

After dinner, I ran out and got a new monitor for my office.  I found a really good one on craigslist.  It worked out well.

The boys are playing Playstation together and are about to go upstairs to bed.

Until next time...

Skiing, Dallas, Sickness

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We got back yesterday in the afternoon after nearly 10 days away.  It was a good trip but now Noah and Rachel are sick.

We started out driving to Angel Fire, NM.  We left Friday morning, the 19th, at 5am.  It took about 13 hours to get there including stops.  Lizzy came with us.  The boys loved seeing snow on the ground.  Lizzy was also really excited for the cold weather and the snow.  The boys took snowboarding lessons on Saturday while Rachel and I skiied.  It was a great program as the rentals and lunch were included.  Apparently there was all kinds of equipment problems and it was the instructor's first class so the boys didn't get much snowboarding in.  The switched to skiing for the second day of lessons.  By the end of the lessons, the boys were able to ride on the lift with us and come down a green trail (which I must admit was a pretty aggressive green trail).  The next day we did a half-day pass.  Rachel opted out that day.  The boys and I took the super long ski lift to the top and then took a trail that took us about 40 - 60 minutes to get down the mountain.  It was a good experience for the boys.  Noah was very hesitant at the beginning but was flying at the end and ended up beating Evan and me.  Evan did well the whole way.

When we finished skiing it has begun to snow hard.  There was a courtyard from our room where Lizzy could run around and the boys could play.  Lizzy was rolling in the snow, chasing snowballs, while the boys had a snowball fight with some other kids and they build a snowman.  All three of them had a great time.

The ride to Dallas was very interesting.  We had to deal with snowy mountain roads, long stretches in the middle of nowhere with no place to stop, high winds, crazy tumbleweed, dust storms, and more snow on the way.  It was crazy.

I started to feel very sick on the drive, aches and congestion.  I ended up with a fever and stayed in best much of Wednesday, Thursday and into Friday.  Evan started to not feel well on Wednesday and Thursday and had his worst days on Friday and Saturday.  From there, Grandma came down with the sickness on Saturday on her birthday.  Rachel got sick on Sunday and Noah got sick today.

It's a good thing the boys are off all week.  Now we can recuperate.

Until next time...

Very Hectic Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today ended up being a hectic day.  I had an early meeting at Starbucks.  The meeting ended up going long.  From there I went to get my hair cut.

Meanwhile, Rachel was cleaning the house and then she went to the Verizon store to get her new phone that came yesterday all set.  Rachel was able to turn in another phone of ours for another $200 credit.  Unfortunately, the whole process took a really long time.

Rachel was going to go to Evan's holiday party at his classroom but she was stuck at Verizon, so she asked me to go.  All the kids were reading some stories they wrote.  They had to write about a memorable time for them.  I thought at first that Evan's might be about a baseball game.  Then I thought it would be about Flash.  My second thought was correct.  Evan read a very well written story about the day we got Flash.  It was really nice.

We picked up the boys but only Evan came home with us.  Noah got invited over to a boy's house after school.  We had never heard of this boy.  In fact, Noah has flat out refused to tell us what he does at recess every day.  Well this boy invited Noah and 3 other kids over for a playdate.  When we met the mom who was bringing them all home, she said her son had told her these five kids play together at recess every single day.  It was really nice to find out that Noah has been doing well at school socially.  And he seemed really excited to be with the four other kids.

For dinner Rachel and Noah had tilapia.  Evan and I had fried matzoh.

The boys just showered and are going up to bed.

Until next time...

New TV

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We walked to school this morning.  We did not see the puppies this morning.

When it was time to pick up the boys, it had begun to rain.  So Rachel and I drove to get the boys.  It wasn't actually raining at the time we got out of the car to walk up the trail however.

Our new TV was set to be delivered today between 5pm and 7pm.  So around 4:30, I took down our old TV and Keith helped me bring it upstairs into our bedroom (for the time being).  We also had our old 36" CRT TV which weighs a ton upstairs in the gameroom.  I put the tv on a blanket and pulled the blanket to the top of the stairs.  Then Keith helped me slide it down the stairs and into the foyer.  Best Buy said they'd haul the TV away.

Deborah, the woman who gave us Calvin, came over closer to six.  She wanted some computer help with her website.  Shortly after she arrived, the Best Buy people came and hooked up the new TV and took the old one.

Deborah stayed for dinner.  Rachel made baked panko chicken tenders.  Nikki and Keith ate with us too.

Noah just finished up reading with Rachel and he's going up to bed.

Until next time...

First Night of Hanukkah and Trail of Lights

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

After walking the boys to school with Lizzy, we were coming home and came upon two women walking two golden retriever puppies.  Lizzy wanted to see the puppies and the puppies wanted to see her.  They were really smelling each other and Lizzy seemed happy.  As we walked away, Lizzy got really hyper.  She seemed to enjoy it so much she was jumping and running.  She was trying to do this while on the leash which made it difficult, but she loved those little puppies.

Around lunchtime, Rachel ran out to return some things at Michael's and stop at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

We walked to get the boys from school.

The boys did their homework when they got home.  And then we had our first "night" of Hanukkah.  They each opened a gift.  Tonight's gift for each was from Zayde.

The reason we had an early Hanukkah was that Jack invited Evan to go with Jack's family to the Trail of Lights.  Jack's family picked Evan up at 4:30 today.  He should be home shortly.

Noah played with his Playstation game from Zayde while Rachel tutored.

For dinner the three of us had hamburgers.

Rachel and Noah are now reading.

Until next time...

Really Nice Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was a really nice day today.  Walking to school in the morning it was around 65 degrees.  It was slightly overcast but quickly cleared up.

I had a phone meeting, then ran into Aaron's.

Rachel stayed home and made some fudge to give to neighbors and the boys' teachers.

When we walked to get the boys it was close to 80 degrees.  That's not supposed to last.  We've got a high of 61 set for tomorrow.

Rachel left to tutor.  She was taking on an extra student today.

I'm about to get dinner ready.  We'll have a late dinner since Rachel won't be home until later.

Until next time...

The Hobbit

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning Rachel and I slept in.  I think I first heard the boys around 8am.

When I got up, I put on The Hobbit for Noah.  Evan decided he didn't want to watch it.  I think it was because Noah picked the movie.

I did some work and Evan watched over my shoulder.  He told me he wants to learn how to program. He wants to create a website that you can play games on and that other people can build their website on.

The boys had lunch and then quietly played upstairs in their rooms and the game room.

Rachel tutored a student today.  The student has exams this week so the parents wanted some extra tutoring.

We had pasta for dinner.

Now the boys are showering.

Until next time...

Father-Son Football Game

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

At 6:34 this morning, I woke up and looked at the time.  My alarm is set during the week for 6:25.  I jumped up thinking my alarm hadn't gone off and went into the bathroom to start getting ready when I realized that today was Saturday.  Luckily I had realized before I woke the boys up.

We stayed in this morning and the boys watched the second Harry Potter movie.

Evan had a birthday party to go to that was a Father-Son football game.  I haven't played football in a long time.  They had rented out an indoor facility that had astro turf for us to play.  Everyone seemed to have a good time.  I was exhausted at the end.  We played football for most of it but at the end we played some soccer.  Evan seemed to have a good time with his buddies.

We came home for a while.  Then Rachel and Noah joined us and we went to Best Buy.  We bought a new vacuum cleaner to replace the one that Rachel sold.  We also ended up buying a new TV for downstairs.  It will be delivered on Wednesday.

We went to Chipotle for dinner.  Both and Evan and Noah ate steak tacos.  It was great.

We stopped at Redbox on the way home.

Until next time...

Lights at Mozart's

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was misting this morning so we did not walk to school.  Lizzy seemed upset.  She came in the laundry room as we left.

Around noon, I drove over and got a smoothie from Smoothie King.

By the time we were ready to leave to get the boys from school, it had dried up so we walked and brought Lizzy.  When the boys came up the trail, they saw a cat and stopped and pet the cat for awhile.  During this time, Lizzy got a ton of attention from kids.  At one point, I think four different kids were petting Lizzy at the same time.  She seemed very happy.

We left around 5:15 to go to Mozart's for the Christmas lights.  They put on a light show every hour on the hour.  We met Aaron, Mandy, Jeremy and Nathan there.  This time Noah spent a lot of time with Jeremy.  Jeremy led Noah around the outside deck where they do the light show after it was over.

On the way home, we picked up Yaghi's for dinner.

Evan is doing some homework and Noah is reading with Rachel.

Until next time...

Thrift Store

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We had our normal walk to school.  For the second day in a row, Lizzy got to see one of her dog friends.

Later in the morning, Rachel went to a Thrift Store and on to Half Price Books.  At the Thrift Store, Rachel was looking for stuff for skiing.  In particular she was looking for snow boots for the times when we are not skiing or snowboarding.  We don't have anything like that.  She said it was absolutely packed.  Rachel found some roller skates for Evan.  Apparently the owners are known as the thrift store nazis.  At Half Price Books, Rachel got some books for the boys.

We walked to pick up the boys from school.  It had gotten colder in the afternoon a bit.

When we got home, Evan roller skated around for a while.

Rachel left to tutor.  I played NHL 15 Hockey with Evan on the Playstation.

For dinner, I grilled hamburgers.

Evan is upstairs in his room and Noah is reading with Rachel.

Until next time...

Low Key Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We walked to school this morning and Lizzy came along.  It was cool but not too cold.  Lizzy saw one of her dog friends and she was happy.

Rachel went to Whole Foods to meet the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls for lunch.  She had a good time.

I ran out and picked up a smoothie at Smoothie King.

We walked to pick the boys up from school but did not bring Lizzy.

In the afternoon, Rachel tutored Audrey.

For dinner I grilled steak and Rachel made fish.  Evan ate the steak and Noah ate a ton of fish and steak.

Rachel is making some sort of dessert right now.  The boys are messing around in my office.

Until next time...

Starting a new school week

This morning we walked to school.  Lizzy was happy.  The boys were good.

Morry worked with Aaron today.  I went for a run.

Morry and I walked to pick up the boys from school.  Evan and Jack walked/rode home ahead of us.  When we got to Jack's house the boys were playing football together.

I tutored this afternoon.

For dinner we had leftover ham from last night.

The boys are about to get ready for bed.

Costco

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning the boys watched the end of Harry Potter.

After that, we decided to make a quick run to Costco.  Well as quick you can possibly go at Costco on a Sunday.  The boys and I split up from Rachel to make it go faster.  I think, all-in-all, we did well.  We bought the boys food for lunch there.  Evan had pizza and Noah had a 1/4 LB hot dog.  Noah ate the whole thing.

In the afternoon, I did some work and Rachel cleaned up.  She threw out a bunch of stuff in the game room and boxed up a bunch of stuff that we'll put in the attic.  We pulled out the big old 36" TV and we'll either give it away or for the next bulk trash pick up put it out on the curb.  We moved the TV from our bedroom into the game room and moved the Wii U up to the game room.  Now the boys don't have to fight over the TV.

The boys also had clean up day.  There wasn't too much fighting although the clean up took forever.

For dinner we had ham and rice.

The boys are ready for bed and in their room.

Until next time...

The Nutcracker

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We didn't have any plans for today which was nice.  The boys started playing downstairs around 8 in the morning.  I finally came downstairs around 9.

Evan told me he wanted to watch Harry Potter.  Apparently, he started reading the first book and wanted to see the movie.  So in the afternoon, we put it on the TV and I made some popcorn.  The boys didn't finish it before we had to leave.

Aaron had told me that his son, Jeremy, was asking to see Evan and Noah.  I asked if they'd like to go to dinner with us prior to going to see the Nutcracker.  He suggested we go to a place called the 24 Diner.  Jeremy sat next to Evan.  Evan entertained Jeremy much of the dinner.  It was nice.

Then we drove over to see the Nutcracker.  Jack's sister Audrey played one of the mice in it.  It was done well.  The boys got a bit bored towards the end, but it was nice to support Audrey and to let the boys experience something new.

The boys are about to get ready for bed.

Until next time...

Busy Bagel Shop

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was still really wet outside this morning so we decided to drive to take the boys to school.

Around lunch we decided to go Wholy Bagel.  I was busy so we didn't get to leave until just after noon.  And we needed to be back by 1.  But it's close and normally it's very close.  Being gone an hour is pretty standard.  When we got there, we had to wait in line and there were a bunch of people waiting for orders they already placed.  It is very unusual.  There are times where we are the only people in there.  I don't know what was going on today.  By the time we got our food it was nearly 12:45 and we had to get home.

It warmed up to close to 80 degrees today so we walked to get the boys.

For dinner, we ordered food from China Dynasty.

The boys are up in their rooms now.

Until next time...

Sick Rachel

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel seems to have a cold.  It could be a reaction from the flu mist she got the other day.  She did come us to go to school this morning.  It was raining (or misting really) this morning so we drove.

I ran some errands around lunch.  I went to the bank, picked up some propane at HEB and went to Smoothie King.

We drove to pick the boys up from school.

For dinner, I grilled steaks and Rachel made her self tilapia.  The boys asked me to make their steak kind of spicy like I make my steak.  At first Evan said he didn't like it spicy but then he ate a ton of it.

The boys took their showers and are in their room.

Until next time...

Busy Day

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning was warm enough for us to walk with Lizzy.  She seemed very happy to leave with us.  Whenever we don't take her, she just stares at us as we leave the house.

I had to run to do some Hey Cupcake things around mid-morning then stopped in at Aaron's.

I didn't make it home in time to pick the boys up from school, so Rachel went to get them.

In the afternoon, Rachel left to tutor.  The boys played Minecraft for a while and now are upstairs doing something that seems loud.  But they are not fighting so I have not gone up to stop it.

Rachel stopped at HEB on her way home.  She is there now.  We're going to have some left over tortilla soup when she gets home.

Until next time...

Flu Mist

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was pretty cold this morning so we decided to drive.  I think Lizzy was upset that we didn't take her today.

Neither Rachel nor I left the house while the kids were at school.

We walked to pick the boys up from school.  This time we brought Lizzy.

Rachel tutored Audrey in the afternoon.

Just before dinner, Rachel and the boys went to Austin Regional Clinic and got the flu mist.  I'm glad they got that taken care of.

For dinner Rachel made tortilla soup.

Noah is reading with Rachel now.  Then the boys will go to bed.

Until next time...

Back To School

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

When we walked to school this morning, it was humid and in the mid-60s.  It was a pretty simple walk to school.  Shortly after Rachel and I got home, the temperature dropped into the 40s.

Rachel had a check up with her oncologist.  It all went well.  I went into Aaron's for a bit.

I wasn't able to get home in time to get the boys.  Rachel drove to pick them up.

Rachel tutored in the afternoon.

For dinner we had pasta.  Evan ate very well.

Noah and Rachel are reading right now.

Until next time...
