The Big Game

This morning we walked to school.

I took it easy this morning and then went for a run.

We had someone come to fix and adjust our sprinklers.  He was here for a long time and it looks like everything is fixed and will keep our lawn in good shape.

Evan had a field trip today to Westcave Preserve.  He said he enjoyed it.  The went for a hike and learned about various trees and birds.

I had two students scheduled for tutoring today and wasn't able to pick up the boys.  Morry walked to pick them up from school.

I got home around 6pm and we make burritos for dinner.

The boys are all ready for bed now and watching the Villanova basketball game with Morry.

Sprinklers

This morning we drove the boys to school.  It wasn't raining at the time, but looked like it could start raining any time.

I took Lizzy for a walk after getting home.

We had our sprinklers fixed and adjusted today.  Hopefully, that will save us some money over the summer.

I left to tutor as Morry was leaving to pick up the kids.

For dinner tonight we had leftover pork made into pork tacos.  Noah ate really well.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Super Humid

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Well it hasn't really rained since yesterday morning.  That's the good news.  The bad news is the heat and humidity came in full force.  It is absolutely gross out there.  We walked the boys to school but we felt wet by the time we got home.  Lizzy, though, was very hyper and excited to go on the walk.  I think she was tired of being cooped up.

Rachel left for another hair appointment mid-morning.

Just before lunch we had someone come out to do the yearly inspection of our sprinkler system.  I had it checked later this year than most years simply because it's been raining so much we haven't needed it.

I stayed at home all day except I went to HEB to get a few things and then to Smoothie King.

We walked in the afternoon but again it was really gross.  In fact it was grosser in the afternoon because it had gotten up into the mid-eighties in temperature.  It felt like Houston.

Rachel tutored from the afternoon to mid-evening.  She is home now and Noah is reading to her.  Evan is finishing up his homework.  They'll go to bed soon.

Until next time...

Gym, Sprinklers, Clean Up, and More

Today was another busy day.

This morning we went to the gym. I did a kickboxing class and the boys played in the child care.

After the gym we came home and had lunch and then played outside.

Then, the sprinkler guys came over to fix our sprinklers. It was a valve issue. $200 later they seem to be working well now.

I did a lot of cleaning in the house today. It really needed it.

For dinner we went to Kerbey Lane.

Tonight the boys cleaned their rooms and the game room. Morry gave them baths while I finished cleaning and vacuuming.

Evan and Noah are in bed now, but not asleep.

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school. It was Evan's last day at that school - his last day of preschool.

Noah threw a major, one-hour fit this morning. That was not fun.

While the boys were at school I went for a run and got some things done around the house.

Evan's class had a field trip to the pool (right next to school). I came a little early and met them there. Evan was having a great time in the pool.

Noah's class rode bikes and made ice cream sundaes.

After school we came home and the boys were pretty good. Noah did not nap.

For dinner we had corn on the cob. I had fish and Morry had pork.

As I left to take Lizzy on a walk I notice a couple of puddles in our grass in the front yard. It turns out we have some kind of sprinkler leak. Even though the sprinklers weren't running, somehow 2 of them were dripping water. Morry turned off the water to the sprinklers, so we'll have to figure out how to get those fixed now.

The boys are in their rooms, but not asleep yet.

Last Swimming Lesson

We had the swimming lesson today since Monday was July 4th. The boys had to have their swim lesson outside since the indoor pool was closed. I'm not sure why. Evan and Noah did very well and the teacher was impressed when Evan told him he went down the slide and swam multiple times over the weekend.

After the gym we came home. The boys played in the sprinkler in the backyard while I got lunch ready.

Noah didn't nap.

We had Wonders and Worries tonight. On the way over there we stopped at the library. Noah insisted I get some Hawaiian music while we were there. I picked up a CD for him.

We just got home from Wonders and Worries and are about to put the boys to bed.

New Windshield

I dropped the boys off at school and a little while later the guy from Safelite came to repair our broken windshield. It took him about 1 1/2 hours. While he was here I cleaned the house and went for a 3 mile run.

Evan and Noah were happy at pick-up. They had made presents for Father's Day and were very excited about them. They couldn't wait to give them to Morry. They said they wanted to give them to him tonight and not wait until Father's Day. Evan made a book about why he loves his dad and illustrated it. He also had a card, a coozie, and a bag of chips in his bag for Morry. In Noah's bag there was a laminated poem and his footprint along with a rock that was decorated and said, "Dad, you rock."

Noah was very cranky when we got home. He cried for a long time. I have no idea what he was so mad about. He wouldn't tell me. I put him in his room for a while. I took him potty and after that he calmed down and actually fell asleep in his bed.

After naps, we tried to set up the Slip and Slide, but it was broken. I found an old sprinkler in the garage and set that up. The kids had a good time playing in it. Even after Noah had come in Evan still played for a while outside by himself.

For dinner we had flank steak and potatoes.

We just did a quick clean up upstairs. The kids' room and game room get so messy and I feel like I'm always cleaning. I came up with the idea to have clean up nights (Thursday and Sunday). They have to clean up their rooms and the game room and then I'll vacuum. This is only our second one, but so far it seems to be working well. It wasn't as messy this time and didn't take too long to clean up.

Morry is reading to Evan and Noah now and then we'll put them to bed.

Sprinklers

This morning I did a Yoga/Pilates class at the gym and then took the boys swimming.

After the gym we went to Newflower.

Now that it's getting hot, we figured we needed to get our sprinklers fixed. We weren't running them as much as we should because we noticed our water bill would go way up. We knew we had a leak, we were just delaying the inevitable. $500+ later we got our sprinklers fixed and should be good to go now. Next up is our outdoor lights. The same company does lighting, but they couldn't work on our lights today. One of the wires to a tree light was chewed apart (probably from a squirrel) and we have many lights that need new bulbs.

Gabby came at 4pm and I tutored.

Morry went out after work tonight to have a farewell party for Keith. He's still out so the boys and I had dinner at home.

I just put Evan and Noah to bed, but they are still up.

Noah’s Check Up

After I dropped Evan off at school I took Noah for his 15 month appointment. Everything looked good. Noah is above average in both weight and height. Noah weighs 25 lbs 8oz and is 32 inches tall. Noah had to get 3 shots today, and just cried a little.

When I picked Evan up at school he was in his spare change of clothes. The kids played outside in the sprinklers today and Evan got soaked. Natasha said Evan had a great time and kept asking her to spray him more.

Evan and Noah took really long naps.

For dinner we made spaghetti.

At 6:30 Blanca came over and then Brian, our neighbor came over at 6:45. Brian is a photographer on the side and wanted to expand his portfolio. He was looking for couples for pictures. We volunteered. We went to South Congress and took lots of pictures until the sun went down. I’m looking forward to seeing how they turned out. It was fun being in that part of the city. There are lots of neat little shops and restaurants.

We got home around 9:15 and put the boys to bed. It seems quiet.
