Start of High School Baseball

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This past week, high school baseball games started.  Evan played 5 games this week.  He played up near Killen, TX (near Ft. Hood) in a place called Copperas Cove.  The game was in the high school baseball stadium. It was pretty nice with a working scoreboard and nice dugouts.  Evan caught most of the game and was in centerfield in the last inning.  He walked in both of his at-bats.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday, he played in Hutto.  On Thursday night, it was cold and misty so it wasn't the best baseball night.  Evan caught the whole game.  He walked two more times and tried to bunt for a single.  He would have been successful but he slipped running to first base.  Even still, he almost was safe even with the slip.

Rachel and Noah attended Friday's game.  Evan pitched the first inning, ending the inning by freezing the batter for a called third strike on a sinker. He played shortstop for two innings and left field for the final inning.  He walked, struck out and popped out in the game.  After the game, we picked up Mod Pizza.

On Saturday, Evan played two games.  I watched his first game.  He caught all but the last inning where he played centerfield.  His first at bat was great.  The coach was really happy with him.  After falling behind, 0-2, he fouled off 5 pitches while working the count to 3-2.  On the eleventh pitch, he crushed a ground ball down the third base line.  The third baseman made a great play just to catch it but he had no throw and Evan wound up at first with a single.  In his next at bat, he hit a line drive past the second baseman for a single as well.

Rachel, Grandma and Papa came for the second game on Saturday.  Evan started the game pitching and pitched 3 innings.  He really looked good pitching.  His stats were not great as his defense made several mistakes.  Evan's coach told Evan that he counted 12 either actual errors or mental errors while Evan was pitching.  Even still, he really looked good.  He pounded the strike zone and kept the team in the game as best as he could.  He singled in his only at bat and took second on a throwing error.  He caught the final two innings.

While the team isn't great, the experience has been great for Evan.  He's getting to play a big part on the team and he's getting great high school experience.  I like his coach.

When we got home yesterday, Evan and Noah played wiffleball outside.  Then there was a block party for our street.  Evan came out with us but Noah stayed in.

This morning, Rachel went for a walk with her friend, Leslie.  She stopped at Black Rock and got drinks for us on the way home.  Evan and Noah played wiffleball outside again.

In the afternoon, after putting a bunch of stuff back in the attic, Noah and I watched a movie.

Rachel and I went to HEB before dinner and then picked up Torchy's for dinner.

Until next time...

Halloween 2020

Today Evan had games at 1 and 3.

I brought Chewie to Evan's first game.  Everyone enjoyed seeing Chewie and he loved all of the attention.

Evan played really well.

Morry picked up food at Chipotle for the kids on his way home.

Josiah came back to the house until his dad could get him.

I picked up Torchy's for Morry and me.

The boys ate as soon as they got home, they got dressed in their costumes and we took them to Reid's house to go trick-or-treating.

Evan was Marty McFly from Back to the Future and Noah was Maverick from Top Gun.

Morry and I took a walk after getting home.  We stopped by to see Mom/Grandma and Dad/Papa, and ate our food once we got back home.

We had a ton of trick-or-treaters from around 6-6:30.  We thought we might run out of candy, but then it slowed down by a lot.  We hardly had anyone come by the rest of the night.

Around 9pm we went to Reid's house to pick up Noah.  We stayed and talked with them for a little bit before we came back home.  Evan is spending the night there.

Evan got 12 pounds of candy and Noah got 9 pounds.

Here are a few pictures from Halloween over the last several years.

Baseball and Bluebonnets

This morning Evan had a baseball game at 10:15.  The temperature was in the 40s and it was windy.  I went but only stayed an hour since I was so cold.  Evan's team lost and they were done with baseball for the day after that.

Noah had Sunday School today.

After Sunday School we took pictures in the bluebonnets and then walked around the park a little bit.

For dinner, we ate at Torchy's.  We sat on the porch with Chewie.

Now the kids are playing video games until it's time for bed.

Here are some pictures from today.

Monday and Tuesday Catch Up

Yesterday and today the boys had the state standardized testing at school.   They weren't too happy about that, but got through it.

We walked both mornings.  Yesterday afternoon I drove to pickup Noah from school.  Today Morry and I walked.

Yesterday after school Noah went over to Grandma and Papas and I left to tutor.

On my way home I stopped at the grand opening of the Torchy's and got a place in line for the free food and drinks.  Morry and Evan met me there, but they couldn't stand in line for very long and left for baseball.  I waited a little while longer and got my food.

I picked up Noah from Grandma and Papa's house and brought Chewie with me.

Today, Evan went over to Grandma and Papa's.  I dropped him off on my way to tutoring.

When I got home we made dinner and Grandma walked Evan back to our house.

Now the boys are playing and will get ready for bed soon.

Evan's Birthday and Rain

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

On Thursday, we celebrated Evan's 12th birthday.  For the first time since he went to school, Rachel and I couldn't meet him for lunch.  I think parents are allowed to meet their kids for lunch, but I think it would be weird for us to go into the school with a 6th grader.  After school, we drove up to Round Rock to see the Express play.  Grandma came with us and Papa met us there.  Both boys had a good time but Evan especially.  His former coach, Oscar, who now works for the Express got his name on the board for the birthday list.  Evan was able to get 3 baseballs.  And the boys got on the jumbotron 4 times.

Yesterday was an uneventful day.  Evan had practice at night for baseball.  I took him to practice.  Noah had football practice at the same time.  Rachel was able to take him.  We had Torchy's for dinner.

This morning, Evan had an 8am game in Pflugerville.  I woke up at 5:40 to take him.  I got things ready, got his water ready and woke him up.  Just before we were going to leave and I saw that the day was cancelled.  Apparently there were thunderstorms overnight that I slept through.  Evan still wanted to get donuts so we did.  Then we came home and went back to sleep.

Noah had a 1pm football game.  The cold front that came through overnight brought the temperatures down to 40 degrees.  It was a cold and miserable day to be out watching Noah play.  Rachel stayed in the car for most of it.  We did bring Chewie.  Noah played well considering the temperatures.  He had several sacks.  Any time the other team tried to throw, Noah was making it difficult on the quarterback.  His team lost, unfortunately.

We drove the van to the game and it warned us that the battery was going.  When we got home, Rachel took the van back out and got it replace.  The boys and I stayed home and watched a movie.

For dinner, we brought Me Con Bistro home.  Then we watched Timeless.

The boys are going to bed.

Until next time...

The Last Week

It has been a busy week.

Morry went to Tucson from Tuesday to Friday last week.

On Saturday, we took it easy.  We went for a short hike with Chewie.

On Sunday, we did the Dog Jog.

Michael, Jen, Maya, and Artie got in around 6:30pm last night and we all had dinner together at Grandma and Papa's house.

This morning, I went to Camp Gladiator.

Later, the boys and I met Grandma, Maya, and Artie at the school playground.

Then, I went back home and Evan and Noah hung out with everyone the rest of the day.    They ate at Torchy's Tacos, played mini golf at Peter Pan, and got Amy's Ice Cream.

For dinner, Michael and Jen cooked for everyone.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Eating

This morning Morry and I did Camp Gladiator.

When we got home I took the boys to Grandma and Papa's house.  Around 10am I dropped Evan off at Wade's house.

Then, around 11am we all left to go for a hike.  We picked up Evan and Wade and went to the Barton Creek Greenbelt.

The kids had a great time.  The boys, started out just putting their feet in the water, but somehow got most of their clothes wet.  We walked for a while.

For lunch we went to Torchy's Tacos and then got dessert at Amy's Ice Cream.  The kids played on the playground there for a little while.

Morry took Evan to a baseball lesson.

Noah and I took it easy at home in the afternoon.

For dinner, we went back to Grandma and Papa's house and ate leftover brisket and shrimp.

We just walked back home and now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Here are some pictures from today.

Tacos with Uncle Mike

This morning we walked to school and then went to Camp Gladiator.

We walked again in the afternoon to pick up the boys.  It's still pretty hot here.  It was in the 90s this afternoon.

Noah had football practice this afternoon.

Uncle Mike came in town last night for work, so we had dinner together tonight. We walked over to Grandma and Papa's house. Papa picked up Torchy's Tacos and we ate at their house.  We had a nice time.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

First Football Practice

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We didn't have a Camp Gladiator camp after dropping the kids off from school.  We were able to just go home.

I worked from home all morning long.  Then Rachel and I went to Wholy Bagel for lunch.

We only got Noah from school today.  Evan went home with Wade.

In the late afternoon, Noah had his first flag football practice.  He really seemed to enjoy it.  The coach had each kid trying all the positions out.  Noah threw the football as quarterback a few times.  He hiked the ball as a center and he went out as a wide receiver.  He also played defense and was able to deflect a pass.

Rachel picked Evan up from Wade's and took him to get his hair cut.  Then they went to Costco.

Noah and I met them after Costco and we went to Torchy's to get dinner.  Torchy's was moving very slow and said it would take 25-30 minutes to get the food to us.  Rachel needed gas and she needed to get the food from Costco home.  So she left.  The boys and I went to Redbox to get a movie.  Then we came back and it still took another 25 minutes to get our food.

We came home and ate.  Now the boys are in bed.

Until next time...

We walked to get Noah.  Evan went home with Wade again.

When we picked up Evan, we went to Costco to get some stuff.  We picked up Torchy's for dinner on the way home.

The boys will be getting ready for bed soon.

The Boys are Back in Town + iFly

Yesterday, I picked up Morry, Evan, Noah, and Jack from the airport.  They had a fun trip to Florida for baseball Spring Training.

We ate lunch at Torchy's tacos.

Last night, for dinner we ate at Genghis Grill.

Today we took it easy.  We had lunch at Texadelphia.  Both boys ate really well.

For Hanukkah, we got the boys gift certificates to iFly (indoor skydiving).  We finally got around to making reservations for them to use their gifts.  They had 6:00 spots for tonight.  We had to get there at 5:15 so they could get a lesson before flying.

First, we picked up Grandma and Papa and then made the drive to North Austin.

Evan and Noah both really enjoyed iFly.

For dinner we all went to Caspian Grill.

Now, the boys are getting ready for bed.

Here are some pictures and video from yesterday and today.

Noah's Test

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Noah was scheduled to take a test that evaluates any issues he might have but also an IQ test.  It was at 9 so he didn't got to school in the morning.  Just Evan and I walked to school.  Since Rachel stayed home with Noah, Lizzy was forced to stay home as well.

Noah said the test (which lasted close to 2 hours) was "easy".  He said it "might be hard for some kids but not for me."  We'll get the results in two weeks.

We took Noah to Wholy Bagel for lunch.  He had lox and capers.  We then dropped him off at school.

After school, Rachel and I walked to get Noah.  Evan went home with his friend Ethan.

Just before dinner, Evan was dropped off at home.  We then went to Costco to get things.  The boys ate there.  We stopped at Torchy's on the way home to get food for us.  The boys also each got a taco to eat as well.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Bat Mitzvah Weekend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Friday, just before lunch, my cousin Allison, her daughter Avery and Grandmom flew into Austin for Molly's Bat Mitzvah.  I picked them up at the airport.  We went to Torchy's Tacos for lunch.

Avery hung out with Noah in the afternoon while Allison, Rachel and I picked Evan up from school.

Allison, Grandmom and I went to Friday night services for Molly.  Rachel bought the boys and Avery to the dinner at Matt and Rachael's house after dinner.

Saturday morning, we went to the Bat Mitzvah.  Molly did a wonderful job.  Her voice was good, she read well, she projected and she was confident.

After the Bat Mitzvah, we decided to show Allison and Avery some of Austin.  Rachel, Evan and I took Allison and Avery to Lady Bird Lake to walk around.  We brought Lizzy.  It was cold and windy but we had a nice time walking.  Evan and Avery enjoyed each other's company.

We stopped at Pho Thai Son on the way home and got spring rolls as a snack.

The party on Saturday night was at a place called Main Event.  They have indoor miniature golf, bowling, rock climbing, laser tag and video games.  The kids had a really good time.  Both boys climbed the rock walls.  They had a good time at laser tag and mini golf.  I watched the Steelers game in the party room.

We didn't get home until nearly Midnight.  Allison, Avery and Grandmom had to be taken to the airport around 6:30 in the morning.  Evan insisted on coming with us as I drove.

I went back to sleep when I came home, but Evan stayed up.

We watched the Vikings-Seahawks game in the afternoon.  Then the boys and I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.  Evan fell asleep in the middle of it.

Grandma and Papa are on the way over.  They picked up Chinese food for us for dinner.  Evan is still sleeping.

Until next time....

No School Today

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Last night, Evan and Noah stayed at Grandma and Papa's.  They went over there around 5:00.  Everyone went to dinner at Kerbey Lane.  Then the boys slept in sleeping bags.  Rachel and I went to see the Hunger Games at the Alamo Drafthouse.

I got up later than normal since I didn't have to take the boys to school.  But I still had to do work.  I worked for several hours in the morning and then took my car to the car wash.  Rachel went to Grandma and Papa's to get the boys.

I met everyone at the Wildflower Park and we played football for a bit.  Noah went home with Rachel and Evan came with me to get smoothies at Smoothie King.

I worked all afternoon.  Evan watched Rat Race.

For dinner we went to Grandma and Papa's.  They picked up Torchy's Tacos.

The boys are showering and getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

No Storm

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The big storm didn't really hit Austin very hard.  We got brief spurts of hard rain throughout the night and parts of today but nothing more than short heavy showers.

I took Evan, Jack and Wade to baseball camp this morning while Rachel and Noah took Lizzy to the vet to have an ultrasound.

From baseball camp, I went into Aaron's.

Evan went to Wade's after camp.

I stopped at Verizon on the way home and got a better phone plan for the family.  Then I stopped at Home Depot and got some light bulbs.  I picked up Lizzy after that and brought her home.

For dinner, we went to Torchy's Tacos.

After dinner, Grandma and Papa came in.

Until next time...

Texas Sledding with Maya

This morning we took Maya to the park went "Texas sledding".  There's a hill that the boys like sliding down using cardboard or plastic lids.  We also walked around the park a little bit.  Everyone had a good time.

We ate lunch at home and then I took Noah to friends house.  I dropped him off and came back about an hour later.

Evan played outside with some neighborhood kids this afternoon.

We dinner Papa picked up Torchy's tacos for everyone.

Soon, the kids will get ready for bed.

Here are some pictures I've taken so far.
