We're Talking About Practice

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning when I came downstairs, Evan was playing on the Playstation 4 while Noah was on his tablet.  Evan has really enjoyed the new baseball game he got.

We went to Waterloo for breakfast.  Evan got a waffle and Noah just had bacon.

When we came home, we took it easy for a bit and then Noah had his first full practice of the season.  Grandmom came with us and watched Noah do some batting.  She left and went back home and then came back and picked us up at the end.  I think Noah enjoyed his practice.  He did well and listened well.

We came home to find Evan playing more on the Playstation.  He played until it was time to go to his practice.

At Evan's practice he did very well as a catcher.  He got the idea of crouching down in two different ways depending on if a runner was on or not.  He also did very well with blocking balls.  He seemed to really enjoy it.  He pitched today also but he wasn't as accurate as he's been.  Not sure why.  Overall, he did well and he said he hit well in the cages.  He really enjoys being out there with his friends.

On the way home, we picked up food from Torchy's Tacos.

The boys are in bed now.  Evan has practice at 9:30 tomorrow morning.

Until next time...

New Toy

This morning we ate breakfast at home.  Morry made pancakes.

The boys, Morry, and Grandmom went to Target and GameStop.  The boys convinced Grandmom to buy them a Playstation.  They used their own money to get some extras for the Playstation.  They were super excited when they got home.

This afternoon Matt, Rachael, and Max came over.  We had Yaghis delivered for dinner.  The boys and Max had a good time running around outside.

Morry and the boys are watching some of the UT football game.

Soon, we'll get the boys ready for bed.

Grandmom

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today was the end of the first week of school.  The boys seemed to enjoy their first week.

Around 11:15, Rachel and I went to Wholy Bagel from lunch.  From there we went to the Apple Store to drop off our phones to get new batteries.

We walked to get the boys.  Actually to get Noah.  Evan went home with his friend Wade.

Then I left to go to pick up our phones.

Noah had his first baseball practice tonight.  Noah and I picked up Evan from Wade's and drove to the field.  We were just about to get warmed up when it started to thunder and threaten to rain.  Practice was cancelled.

We came home for a bit and then the boys and I went and picked Grandmom up from the airport.  We went to dinner at Logan's.  The boys, and particularly Evan, at well.

Until next time...

Nothing Today

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Last night, we got the email about what team Noah will be playing on.  In the fall, the team names are minor league names.  Noah will be playing for the Mudcats.  The coach asked me if I would help out and be a base coach.  I said I'd be happy to.  Ironically, after I graduated from high school, I drove to Zebulon, North Carolina and watched the Mudcats play.  Noah's first practice is tomorrow night.  Today we didn't have any baseball.

The walk to school was uneventful.  The boys were good.

Rachel and I both stayed at home today.  We didn't have any meetings or errands.

We picked up the boys from school and talked to Ms. Wenske some about Noah and Evan.  She seemed so happy to talk to us and see Evan.  She said she didn't get to see him much last year and was happy she got to see him more often this year.

The boys played Wii.

For dinner we had a rotisserie chicken.

The boys are showered and getting ready to go to bed.

Until next time...

Back to Baseball

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The kids were a bit more tired this morning when I got them up.  They still were in good moods when we got going but it took a bit more to get them going.

Rachel took Flash in to get a booster for one of his vaccines.

I had to run a few errands today including picking up some money from Hey Cupcake! which is sponsoring the Bucs this season.

After school, the boys did their homework.

At 4:45 we left to go to the first Bucs practice of the season.  We have 4 practices scheduled before our first tournament.  Evan did very well.  He was the first pitcher to strike someone out and he was the first batter to get a hit off of a pitcher.  He was hustling and until he got tired towards the end seemed to really be having fun.

We are about to get the boys ready for bed.

Until next time...

Second Day of School

Hello everyone, this is Evan (and Daddy).

Today was the second day of school.  I had fun.  I played football at recess with more than 20 people.  All of my friends are at recess with me.  I think we tied.

Mommy and Daddy came to pick me up.  Daddy told me that the Bucs (formerly the Marauders) started a flag football team and I'm going to play flag football and baseball this fall.

When I got home, I played Wii.  Then I played with my Nexus 7.

After that we had dinner.  Daddy grilled ribs.  I had lots of bread.

Now we are writing the blog and I'll be going to bed soon.

Daddy Note: Evan wants to end the blog with the word, poop.

Tryouts and the River

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Noah had tryouts for coach pitch.  It was his first time at tryouts.  Every kid makes a team it's really more of an audition.  Noah's tryout was at 10 but we got to the fields around 9:35 to get warmed up.  Evan came with us.  They threw Noah 5 pitches.  Unfortunately he didn't hit any one.  The pitches really weren't that good, to be honest.  It didn't seem to affect Noah too much which was good.  Then he went out to the field and got three ground balls and three pop ups.  He got 2 of the 3 ground balls and the one he missed he really stayed with it.  His throws to first were on target though they did bounce.  The first pop up they threw to him he actually caught but it took his glove off.  The ball stayed in the glove.  Everyone who was watching cheered for Noah and cheered for him to get the ball and throw to first.  All in all it was a good tryout and I think Noah felt good.

After tryouts we went home briefly and then drove down to Jack's family's house in Canyon Lake on the Guadalupe River.  It was about a 50 minute drive.  Jack's grandfather built the house in the 60s and they've had it in their family ever since.  Jack's dad, John, grilled burgers while the kids played.  The river was very shallow.  In fact, it was very creek-like.  I guess the drought has had it's effect on the river.  So the kids were down running through the water and playing.  After lunch, we walked to another part of the river and got in tubes and floated back down to their house.  Again it was very shallow and at times we hit our butts on the rocks.  But it was nice and relaxing and the kids loved it.  Jack and Evan even got in a kayak which was kind of funny to watch.  They have a pool at the house too and all the kids played in the pool until we left.

We came home and had dinner and now the boys are in their rooms.

Until next time...

Meet the Teachers

Most of the day we stayed at home.  I tried a few times to get the boys to go to HEB, but they didn't want to go and I didn't feel like fighting.

This afternoon we walked to school for Meet the Teachers and supply drop off.   It went well.  Noah's teacher seemed genuinely happy to see us.  We told her how excited we were when we found out Noah would be in her class.  Evan's teacher seemed really nice too.  We have heard she is a good teacher.

For dinner we went to Carinos.  After dinner we went to HEB.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Austin Parks and Class Assignments

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Last year before school started I took a day away from work and we went to Inner Space Caverns and saw the caves.  This year we decided to take the boys to Austin Parks which is a big place that has go karts, bumper boats, miniature golf, laser tag, batting cages and more.  Evan had heard about go karts and wanted to give it a try.

We got the unlimited activity pass because when we added up getting the pizza buffet and doing two activities, it was more money than getting unlimited.  We started off by taking the boys on the go karts.  Rachel and I each drove and one boy rode with each of us.  They thought that was super cool.  Then we went on the bumper boats and we had fun.  We got there shortly after it opened so no one was there and we didn't have to wait for anything.  Then we did miniature golf.  We had lunch at the buffet and then went back to the go karts.  I drove Noah around and Evan wanted to go on the slower track where they let kids his age drive the car.  At first Evan started off tentative.  He was driving slowly.  And then something kicked in and he start driving fast and aggressive.  He got very competitive.  He was squeezing in between the inside and the cars he was passing.  He got off and had the biggest smile.  He wanted to do it again.  He was even more aggressive and more competitive the second time.

We came home and relaxed a bit.  Evan went down to Nathan's.

Then we walked to school.  At 5pm they tape the class list to the door.  We got there a bit after 5.  They have some vendors out selling sno-cones and food as well as school t-shirts benefiting the PTA.  We found out Noah got the same teacher that Evan had for first grade.  That is who we wanted.  We don't know anything about the teacher that Evan got.  The thing that upset Evan is that not one of his buddies is in his class with him.  Honestly, I'm not sure how that's possible to not have just one.  Statistically, it must be less a 1% chance of happening.  He'll make new friends and it will be fine.

We came home and had dinner.

Then we had to run out to the baseball fields.  I needed to return the equipment from last season.

From there we went and got sno-cones.  We promised the boys to get it later because the line at the school was super long.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

Nothing

We didn't go anywhere today.  I had planned on taking the boys to the pool, but they didn't want to go.  Evan wanted to hang out with Jack, but he couldn't come over today.

We just hung out at home.

I got some stuff done around the house while the boys played.  They seemed fine to be at home and take it easy.

For dinner we had pork tenderloin on the grill.

The boys are ready for bed and in their rooms now.

Second to Last Weekend

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This weekend was the second to last weekend before school starts.  I get the sense that the boys are ok going back to school.  They is no dread, which is good.

Yesterday morning I had emailed Noah's spring baseball team and said I'd be out practicing with Evan and Noah and invited anyone to join us.  Well as we were going to leave, Noah decided he did not want to come.  So Evan and I went out.  Several other kids joined us and we had a good time.  Evan was running around.  As I pitched to one boy, Evan played both catcher and first base running between the two.

We stopped at Smoothie King on the way home.

We took it easy before leaving for San Antonio where we went to The Incredible Pizza Company in San Antonio for Valencia's fourth birthday party.  We ran into terrible traffic on the way home and got there almost an hour late.  The place was very crowded - it was kind of like a giant Chuck E Cheese but for older kids.  We didn't get home from the birthday party until nearly 11pm.

This morning Rachel and I slept in.  The boys were playing Wii when we got up.

Evan and I watched the replay of the Steelers game from last night together in the afternoon.

Later the boys went outside and worked on pitching.

We had some leftovers for dinner and then went to HEB.

The boys are finishing cleaning up now and then they will go to bed.

Until next time...

Evan came home around 2pm and then his friend Wade came over.  Wade was here until 5:00.

The boys are in their rooms now all ready for bed.

Street Paving

They paved our street today. We got notice about a week ago that we wouldn't be able to get in our out of house today.   It suggested where to park a street over.  Morry moved his car early this morning.  We wanted to have one car out in case we needed to go anywhere.

The boys and I stayed at home.  Morry went out to get a smoothie at lunch time.

For dinner we had pizza and ate outside.  The boys played baseball outside after dinner.

Evan and Noah are now ready for bed and in their rooms.

Check Ups and Whole Foods

The boys has their yearly checkups this morning.  Everything looked good and they didn't need shots.  They were happy about that.

For lunch we went to Whole Foods for the Pink Ribbon Cowgirls lunch. The boys sat at their own table.  They were really good during the lunch, so we stopped and got Tiffs Treats cookies on the way home.

For dinner Morry and Evan had fried matzoh, I had a tuna sandwich, and Noah had a variety of things.

Morry ran out to return the Redbox movie.

Soon we'll get the boys to bed.

Staying at home

We stayed at home today.

I tried to get the boys to go in the cul-de-sac so Noah could practice on the bike.  Noah did not want to.  He doesn't have interest in learning how to ride a bike.

For dinner we had hamburgers, corn on the cob, and fruit.

Morry just went out to pick up a movie for us from Redbox.  We have a coupon for a free movie rental.

The boys just had showers and are ready for bed.

This morning, the boys and I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy.  The three of us really enjoyed it.  It was definitely entertaining.  The boys, as always the case when we go to the movies, were very well behaved.

On the way home, we picked up Torchy's for lunch.  Aunt Sandy and Uncle Marvin came over for lunch as well as Rachel's cousin Jacob.  We ate out on the porch.

We took it easy in the afternoon.

I grilled steaks for dinner.  Then we went to HEB to get things for the week.

We had hamburgers, salad, and fruit for dinner.

We'll get the boys ready for bed in a few minutes.

The Boys are Back in Town

Yesterday we picked up Evan, Noah, Grandma, and Papa from the airport.  It sounded like everyone had a great time in Seattle.

Morry and I enjoyed some alone time, but we did miss the boys.  It's nice having them back home.

Today we went out to breakfast at Kerbey Lane.  Grandma and Papa drove back to Dallas from there.

I tutored in the afternoon and Evan went over to Wade's house for a little bit.

For dinner we had leftover Rudy's.

We just got back from a walk.

The boys will get ready for bed soon.
