We got back from our trip to Dallas today.
We had a nice time and did lots of fun things. We got to see Sherah's family a few times.
The boys, Morry, and Papa went to the Stars hockey game.
We got home around 2pm today and Deborah brought Calvin over around 4pm. The boys were really excited when Calvin got here.
We went to HEB and then picked up dinner. Morry and I got China Dynasty and the boys got McDonalds.
Evan and Noah are ready for bed. Noah's playing on his computer and Evan's watching the Longhorns game.
It's good to be home.

Rainy Saturday
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Both Rachel and I slept in this morning. Last weekend, I had to get up very early on two mornings because of travel, so it felt good to sleep in. At one point the boys were fighting over the Wii so Rachel got up and dealt with that for a bit but she came and laid back down.
It wasn't raining in the morning but it was supposed to rain. We just stayed in.
The Pirates game was on. If they won, they would secure home field in the Wild Card game of the playoffs. The boys and I watched it. We had lunch in the middle. Evan was really into it.
Noah had a birthday party to go to at 4pm. Rachel took him. Evan and I stayed at home.
Evan and I made popcorn and watched two 30-for-30 ESPN documentaries - one on the Red Sox vs Yankees playoff series in 2004 and one on Fernando Valenzuela.
Noah had a great time at the birthday party. It was a combination inflatable/trampoline place. Rachel said all the parents from Noah's Kindergarten class were very nice.
On the way home, Rachel got McDonald's for the boys and Torchy's for us.
The boys are now in bed.
Until next time...

Noah on the Bike
This morning we just hung out at home. The boys couldn't agree on what they wanted to do today. I decided to take the boys in the cul-de-sac and start teaching Noah how to ride a bike (without training wheels). I bribed him with Legos. I told him when can ride on his own he can pick out a $20something Lego set. He thought that was a good deal.
He did well for the first time without training wheels. I was only able to let go for a few seconds, but at least that's a start.
The rest of the day we stayed at home.
For dinner we picked up Pho Thai Son for us and Mc Donalds for the boys.
The boys are in their rooms now all ready for bed.

Many Activities
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Evan was not sore this morning. In fact, he was in a great mood and was very playful before school.
Noah got up and played Wii for a while. Rachel eventually got him to go outside with her and play some baseball.
At 12:30, Cole came over. They played Wii for a while and then went into the cul-de-sac and rode their scooters.
Rachel picked Evan up with Noah and they got ice cream. We had a gift certificate that was going to expire today.
When Evan came home, he played baseball for a bit and then did his homework.
Noah had a game at 5:45 and Evan had practice at 6pm. Rachel was tutoring. One parent could take Evan if we dropped him off at their place, but the boy on Evan's team had swimming before that. So Rachel dropped Evan off at their place on her way to tutoring.
Around 5, I took Noah to his baseball game. He really did well in the field. In left field he stopped a ball and threw it to second. They almost got the boy out. It would have been Noah's first assist. He also ran really well on a ball hit to the outfield when he was on first. He didn't hesitate at second. He picked up the third base coach and kept going and ended up scoring. It was one of his best games of the season.
From there, we went over and watched the last 30 minutes of Evan's practice. He was being aggressive as usual. He slid into home and got a scrape and a cut on his ankle. The coach told Evan that he loved Evan's cut. It showed he was playing hard.
On the way home we picked up McDonald's for the boys. They finished their food on before we got home.
I put the boys to bed although they are not sleeping.

Big Day - Sick Evan
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Evan had a very busy day today. Today was the "opening day ceremony" for his baseball league. I'm not sure why they waited 3 weeks into the season to have opening day. Noah's team decided not to participate in the festivities, but Evan's team participated. We got out to the field a bit after 9am. It was really gray this morning and humid with a temperature in the low 50s. It seemed really cold considering it's been in the 80s and 90s all week long. Evan seemed to have fun with his buddies as they ran in when their team was announced.
We came home for about an hour and a half. Noah was busy playing with Maya, Uncle Mike and Aunt Jen. It was then that Evan seemed to not be totally himself. Looking back he was a little more clingy to me at the ceremony, but at the time I didn't think much about it. When Evan was cranky at home, I thought it was because he hadn't eaten. Sometimes he goes a while without eating and he gets very cranky and he doesn't realize it's because he's hungry. So I try to give him food only to have him turn it down. Finally when he does eat, he gets back to his normal self. He fought me on eating until we had to leave for his team pictures. I brought some stuff in the car but he really didn't eat it. I told him I'd take him to McDonald's after the pictures.
After pictures, we drove over to McDonald's but he wouldn't really eat that food. I was having him eat in the car on the way back to the field for his game. He wasn't acting good and at first didn't want to play but he changed his mind and did want to play. I had Rachel come to the field with Tylenol. I got him a Sprite and filled him with as much water as I could because the day turned hot.
He played the entire game which went 6 innings. He was catcher in three of the innings. One inning I walked him out to the position holding his helmet while he was drinking. Then another time I ran out with water as the inning ended. He didn't have a very good game, not surprisingly, but I think he impressed people with his push to play. He should have got a fly ball in right center. He judged it perfectly and was right there but somehow dropped it. I bet he would have had it if he had felt better. Noah's coach, Mario, who was Evan's coach last year came out for some of the game to watch Evan. It was nice. Unfortunately he picked a bad game.
When we got home, I took Evan's temperature and he had a fever. He laid down on my side of the bed and I put the tv on for him. He did sleep some.
Uncle Mike, Aunt Jen, and Maya left for a wedding in the late afternoon. That's the reason they are in town. Noah stayed downstairs with Grandma and Papa.
For dinner, we had Johnny Carino's takeout.
Noah ate his dinner but Evan didn't eat. He laid on the couch and watched the Lorax.
Evan is now in bed and Noah is in his room, but he's playing with his computer.

Sports, Sports, Sports, Part 1
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Today, Evan had wacky dress day. He work two different socks (one short, one high), two different shoes, baseball pants, a Steelers jersey and a Cat-in-the-Hat hat. He was very excited to get dressed like that.
Noah slept in some which was good. They went to bed very late after the Valentine's dinner.
Rachel picked up Noah from school and I picked up Evan.
Around 3:30, Grandma and Papa arrived from Dallas. The boys were very excited.
At 4:30, I stopped working and got Evan ready. He had basketball practice from 6 to 7 and baseball practice from 7 to 8:30. The son of the coach from his basketball team is on Evan's baseball team so he ended practice a bit early so we could get over to the baseball fields. Since there was no time for dinner, I took Evan out to dinner of his choice for basketball. He chose McDonald's.
He played well at basketball practice. We talked about being a bit more aggressive and going after the ball and he did.
At baseball, Evan did wonderful. He seemed back in form today. He played well in the field both throwing and catching. He and the boys from his basketball team, Darius, were really having a good time playing with each other at practice. Evan just looked like had a ton of fun. It was very cold, in the low 50s and sprinkling but it didn't seem to slow the boys down.
We came home and put the boys to bed.

Crazy Morning
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Yesterday, Noah kept asking to come with me to take Evan to school. He really wanted to ride bikes. I told him if he went to sleep at a decent time I would wake him up. He kept his end of the bargain so I kept mine. I woke Noah up after getting Evan set up downstairs eating breakfast and watching the MLB channel. When I was getting Evan's folder, lunch and backpack together I discovered that Evan didn't read his book last night. So while he ate breakfast, I held the book and listened to him read. It just happened to be a super long book this time so we were running late. We finally got going and had sweatshirts and helmets on the boys. As I was backing the bike out of the garage the chain popped off. We were already running late so I didn't have time to fix it. So we ended up driving to school.
Noah played Star Wars Wii when we got home while I did work.
At 11am I had a normal cleaning at the dentist. Rachel and Noah went to HEB to get food. I got home shortly after Rachel and Noah because Rachel was still putting groceries away.
Rachel picked Evan up from school while Noah stayed here.
Rachel tutored and Blanca came over. They played baseball and rode their bikes in the cul-de-sac.
For dinner, I picked up McDonald's for the kids and Popeye's for me.
Then we played some Wii and I put the kids to bed.

Gray Day
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
I felt well enough to take Evan to school this morning. It was cold and Evan told me he wanted me to drive. He was in a good mood though.
Noah got up a little after I got home. He, too, was in a good mood.
Around 10:15, we had an air conditioning guy come to look at the system. Our downstairs air conditioner is not turning on unless I unplug the thermostat and re-plug it in. Then it will run for a bit. It seems to work for heat though. He told us we didn't have enough refrigerant and added some and checked for leaks. He also felt like we needed a new thermostat. So we're in the market for a good thermostat now.
Rachel made lunch for Noah and then he was supposed to go to Cole's. For some reason he said he didn't want to go. I don't think he's feeling 100%. He said he wanted to just play sports. I suggested he take the football to Cole's so he did. He also wanted me to come to drop him off so I did.
Rachel picked up Noah, dropped him off at the house and then went and got Evan.
Rachel had to tutor late tonight, so after I paid Blanca, I took the boys to McDonald's. They were well behaved and ate their entire dinners.
We came home and Evan did his homework.
They are in bed now. Until next time...

Sports...All Day
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
The day began at 7:45. I woke up and woke Evan up. Normally he gets up before 7am but it's been a big week. We came downstairs and had breakfast and drove to the football fields for warm ups.
Evan's football game was actually a playoff game. If they won, they would play at 10am. However, Evan's team is terrible, so I felt safe that he'd only have one game. The thing was that Evan needed to be at the baseball fields at 10:30. Amazingly, in the first half, they stayed in it. I was slightly nervous. But one of the worst things was they were one player short so they had Evan play both offense and defense for the almost the entire game. He finally came out at the end for 3 plays. That was it. On one hand, it's an honor that they chose him to play the whole game. He is really good. On the other hand, I wanted him to conserve his energy.
They did lose and we left and went on to the baseball field. Evan went through warm ups while I threw the ball to Noah. Noah's fielding has gotten so much better and his throwing as well. He's starting to step when he throws and follow through. It's amazing to see how much better he's gotten over the course of the season.
Evan's game was tight. The other team was winning for the first two innings. Evan came up in the bottom of the second with the two men on. He hit a fly ball to short left center field. I haven't seen anyone catch that ball all season long but a player raced forward and caught the ball. The two runners were not paying attention and not listening to the coaches and ran. The play ended up as a triple play. In the bottom of the 2nd, Evan was playing right center. A ball was hit between right and right center and went to the fence. Evan got to the ball quickly. Unfortunately, he had visions of throwing the runner who had been on first out at third and decided to throw from the fence to third base rather than hit the cut off. He actually got it all the way to the shortstop position - but not one was really there. It was a good throw but he should have thrown it to the cut off man. Going into the top of the 5th, Evan's team was leading by 4. Since you can only score 5 runs an inning, they needed to score two runs to go up by 6. The first two batters on Evan's team hit home runs and Evan's team had a "walk off" win. By winning that allowed Evan to play at 4pm rather than 2:30pm. So...
We went to McDonald's picked up food for the boys and had Evan relax at home. We put on a movie for the boys to watch. At 2:50, we left for the field again. Noah and Rachel stayed home for a bit before coming to the field.
Evan had gotten a second wind. He was excited for the second game. In the top of the first, Evan was playing third. The first two balls were hit to him. The first was a slow roller that Evan fielded and threw to first but didn't get the out. The second ball, Evan threw to first and got the runner out. Amazingly, of all the innings he played third, those were his first two throws across the diamond. He got them easily to first in both cases. In the bottom of the 2nd, Evan lined a shot between short and third base. It rolled all the way to the fence. Evan did not appear to be running as fast as normal. I could tell he was trying as hard, but the speed wasn't there. He turned it into a double, but in a normal circumstance, I think he would have had a triple. Unfortunately, he was stranded at second. The other team took the lead in the bottom of the second and held it for most of the game until the last at-bat for Evan's team. They were down by three and needed to score 4 runs. They did it. You would have thought Evan's team had already won the championship. The boys were screaming and jumping around. They really have a good bunch of kids. So that saved Evan from having to play a game at 5:30.
So tomorrow, Noah's championship game is at 1pm. Evan plays on that field right after Noah. If Evan's team wins, they go into the championship game on Monday. If they lose they have to play another game on Sunday to make it to the championship. I can tell you Noah is really excited for his game. He can't wait to play.
So tomorrow, we'll be right back where we spent much of today.

Games Cancelled
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
I slept in this morning. I guess I was really tired as I got up around 10:30 and Rachel had just gotten back from a run. The boys were playing some sort of game downstairs that they made up where they hit a ball with a stick.
Rachel got ready for a brunch with her friend Melissa. I started getting things ready for the boys' baseball games. Noah had a game at 2:15 and Evan had a game at 3:30.
Rachel came downstairs and we got the car packed because she and Noah are going to Dallas this week. She was going to go to brunch, come over to the fields afterwards, and then take Noah from the fields. However, just as she left, we got a message that the fields were too wet from yesterday and the games were cancelled. Both boys were disappointed.
I got lunch for the boys, showered, and then had lunch for myself.
Shortly thereafter, Rachel came home and she and Noah left.
Evan and I watched some baseball and then went outside to play baseball. We were briefly sent inside as it started to rain but it cleared up and we went back outside.
For dinner, we picked up McDonald's and got the move Pirates! A Band of Misfits from Redbox and watched that while we ate.
We talked with Rachel and Noah on Facetime before bed.
Evan is now in bed.
Until next time...

Day 2
Last night Noah said he wanted Morry to wake him up in the morning before he took Evan to school. Morry did that and Noah wanted to go with them to drop off Evan. Morry and the boys rode bikes to school.
This morning Noah helped me get some stuff together in the garage for this weekend. Our neighbors are doing garage sales and we are going to join in too. They emailed a bunch of people on the street.
I took Noah to Cole's house at 12 and he stayed until 2. He and Cole play really well together. They had fun.
Noah decided he wanted to come with me to pick up Evan. I don't feel well enough to ride the bike with the tandem trailer, so we drove to get Evan. We put Evan's bike in the car on the way home. Evan seemed to have a good day but he didn't want to talk about what he did.
His teacher seems nice. I met her today. Evan's class has homework every night except Friday and spelling tests on Fridays.
This afternoon we brought down a ton of stuff from the attic. Our hallway is filled with boxes, toys, junk. It's hard to believe all of that fit in the attic. Now, I need to go through the stuff to decide what to sell, throw away, or keep.
Morry had a meeting tonight. He left the house about 5pm and he's on his way home now.
I helped Evan with his homework. Noah can spell all of the words now too. They are pretty easy this week.
We ate dinner at home and then went to McDonalds for dessert. The boys played for a while on the playscape there.
When we got home I gave them showers. Evan read. He's supposed to read to use every night. They are in their rooms, but not asleep yet.

No Baseball
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
It was still just Evan and me today. We rode our bikes to school this morning. Evan was in a good mood.
In the afternoon, after I picked Evan up, he played baseball in the backyard by himself. At 4pm, Gabby came over the house. With everything going on, we forgot to cancel her visit. So I used that as an opportunity to get some errands done. I had to pick my suit up at the cleaners and get medicine from HEB. I also got Evan's clothes ready and loaded some movies on to my iPad.
This evening, Evan was supposed to have his playoff baseball game. It rained yesterday canceling yesterday's games which put the schedule back a day. So Evan won't be able to play in his playoff game tomorrow. We had to go to the field though to meet the coach. I had one of the assistant coach's shirts as I've been acting assistant coach. I needed to return it to the coach for tomorrow. I brought Evan with me and he played with the coach's son, Josh. We watched one of the games. If Evan's team wins tomorrow it's possible that we could play the winner of the game today.
After that, we picked up McDonald's for Evan and brought it home. I had some leftovers.
I got Evan showered and just put him to bed. He just came down to tell me he was packed. He brought down a suitcase with Legos and stuffed animals.

Evan's Birthday
This morning we all walked Evan to school. He seemed very happy to have all of us with him this morning.
We planned on meeting Evan for lunch and bringing him lunch and donuts for the class.
Evan's class eats very early, at 10:30am. The restaurants Evan likes were not serving lunch at that time. We tried Little Caesars and McDonalds. Little Caesars wasn't open and McDonalds was not yet serving lunch at 10am. We had no problem getting donuts though. Evan asked us to get coffee for Mr. V too. I'm not sure why, but that's what Evan wanted.
We ended up going back home quickly to get lunch together to bring to school since we were not able to pick up any lunch food.
Evan was happy to see us at school. Noah enjoyed sitting with the class in the cafeteria.
Noah had his sports class today and had fun in there.
On the way home we stopped at HEB.
When we got home Grandmom was there. Noah stayed at home while I got Evan at school.
Evan had a baseball game at 5:45 that we all went to.
For dinner, Evan wanted Little Caesars. We got that for him and Blue Bamboo for the rest of us.
For dessert, Evan choose to get Slurpees from 7-11.
The boys had a bath and now they are in bed.
Here are pictures and video from today.

Noah's 4th Birthday
Noah was in a good mood today.
We kept asking him what he wanted to do today and he would just say, "I don't know." We gave him a few suggestions. He finally decided he wanted to have lunch at McDonalds.
We had an appointment at Wonders and Worries at 10am, which Noah was looking forward to. He enjoyed it there and then we met Morry at McDonalds. Morry and I didn't want to eat there so we just ordered food for Noah. Noah ate some there and then we went to Brugger's Bagels nearby so Morry and I could eat lunch. We sat outside to eat and Noah finished his food there.
After lunch we went to Rita's Italian Ice and all got water ice (as Morry calls it). It happened to be free as a First Day of Spring promotion they were having.
We went home and Noah was happy just sitting and watching tv. His stomach was bothering him and I think that's part of why he didn't want to do anything.
I got Evan from school and we went to the book fair. Evan picked out two books. He got Pete the Cat and some other book about space.
At home the boys were happy playing wii and Leapster and just hanging out.
Noah said he wanted to eat at home for dinner. Morry picked up Little Caesars for the boys and Blue Bamboo for us.
After dinner we played in the cul-de-sac for a little bit.
The boys are finishing up their baths now and then we'll put them to bed.

Hanging out with Evan
Noah had school today. We all dropped him off and ran some errands with Morry. We went to the bank and the post office. Then, we got Smoothie King. I had to run a few errands too, but promised Evan McDonalds for lunch. We went to Kohls and Bed Bath and Beyond. On the way home I got a Happy Meal for Evan.
We picked up Noah from school and went to Wonders and Worries. Ali met with Evan and Noah separately. Ali let each of the boys pick a box of Girl Scout cookies.
Then, we stopped at body repair shop to get an estimate on fixing on side mirrors on the van.
Morry and the boys played Super Mario Brothers and then ate dinner.

Thunderstorms
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
Last night, around 2am, we had thunderstorms roll in. It was loud and lasted until after 7am. I woke up. Rachel said she heard the rain but now the thunder. It was still bad when I got up around 6:20. I was planning on getting Evan up at 6:30, but apparently the thunderstorms woke him up too, so he came in our room when I got up. He didn't seem scared though.
Because he got up early, we were ready early for school. I drove him over there and parked in front since the path was probably going to be muddy. Evan was the third kid in the cafeteria. I don't think anyone from his class showed up for another 10 minutes. I waited with him until his friends came.
When I got home, I laid down for a bit until Rachel's alarm went off to get up to take Noah to school.
Noah was good until Rachel wanted to leave. Then he started throwing a fit. He said that I hadn't taken him to school in a long time. So I went with Rachel to take Noah to school.
When we got home, Rachel laid down for a bit before she left to go to a Pilates class.
On the way home from Pilates, Rachel picked Noah up and went to CVS to buy some things. They were having a sale on things we needed. Rachel also picked up the first Cadbury Creme Eggs of the season.
Rachel stayed at home for a bit before leaving to get Evan. Noah stayed home with me.
When she got back, she gave the boys haircuts. They wanted her to do it.
Rachel went to tutor and Gabby came to babysat.
After I finished worked, I took the boys to deposit some MB Squared checks. Then we went to McDonald's for dinner. After that I had to stop at Office Depot to pick up some 1099 forms for people who have done work for me.
We came home, played a bit of Super Mario Brothers, then I got the boys ready for bed.

End of Football
This morning we were able to sleep in some. The boys woke up at their normal time, but they played pretty well together in the game room.
At lunchtime I went to a meeting. The Texas Rollergirls has a rec league and I went to find out more information. The meeting was packed and it was hard to hear since I was in the back. I'm trying to decide if I want to join. There's not an easy way to try it out since there's a lot of equipment you have to buy (skates, pads, helmet, etc). I'm going to see if I can get some cheap or used ones so I can try it out and see if I like it.
While I was at the meeting Morry took the boys to the Wildflower Park and then McDonalds for lunch. I met them at McDonald's on my way home, but didn't eat there.
The Steelers played this afternoon and they lost. So, there's no more football in this house until next season.
The boys and I picked up Papa John's pizza while Morry finished watching the game.
We had clean up night tonight. Evan gave us a really hard time and he didn't get his dessert. Noah cleaned up well and he's eating his shaved ice (that I made at home).
Evan's in bed and I'm about to get Noah ready for bed.

San Antonio
Hello everyone, this is Morry.
This morning, we drove to San Antonio to go to Anika's 11th birthday. The party was at 11am so we left around 9:45am. Traffic was very light so we got there in under an hour and a half.
The boys really enjoyed themselves. The party was at the same place that it was last year - a pavilion in a nice park. The boys played on all the various playscapes there. They loved it. They didn't want to leave when it was time.
Rachel did not feel well on the way home and ended up being sick when we got home. She thought it was just some nerves but now she has a fever. She originally felt fine afterwards and she went to a gathering of Pink Ribbon Cowgirls. The Pink Ribbon Cowgirls is a group for young breast cancer survivors. One of them passed away yesterday. She was only 34 with a young boy. She was a participant in the bra fashion show that Rachel participated in last year.
When she got home, Rachel started to feel bad again. So I drove the boys to McDonald's and we picked up some food for us. Evan ate really well. He's turned into an eating machine. Noah didn't eat so well.
I gave them baths and put them to bed. They did not go to sleep right away and Noah and I had a major battle over that. He told me "they are going to put you in jail" when I told him that I couldn't wait to see him tomorrow but I didn't want to see him the rest of the night. I don't know who "they" are, but I'm not too worried.
Evan has two days of school this week, so only two mornings of getting up early.

November Already?
This morning Evan gave Morry a hard time. He must have been really tired and still worn out from last night.
Noah and I went with Morry to drop off Jack/Zayde at the airport.
Back at home, I did a little bit of MB Squared work, cleaned the house, and then Noah and I went to the Wildflower Park. That's where Noah wanted to go. We packed a lunch and ate there. Noah was very good.
On our way home we got gas at a new gas station/market that opened near us. Noah and I went in side to check it out. It seemed pretty nice and convenient if we ever need to run out and just pick up a few things.
Noah and I walked to pick up Evan. Actually, he sat in the stroller. The weather was very nice.
At home I got ready for tutoring and Kim came over.
Evan had baseball practice today. Morry took both boys and then picked up McDonalds for them on the way home. I ate leftover pizza. Noah's finishing his dinner now and Morry and Evan are working on homework.
Pretty soon we'll put them to bed.

Still Sick Morry
Morry spent most of the morning in bed and then went into work. He didn't last long there. He really wasn't feeling well and came back home.
This morning Noah and I went to the police station. Susan G Komen Austin was having an event there and I offered to volunteer. They said it was fine to bring Noah with me. He got a lot of attention. One of the police officers gave a police badge sticker for both him and Evan (who was at school).
At home Noah helped me make a smoothie.
We picked up Evan at school and Kim came over at 3:45. She stayed until 6pm while I tutored. There was a little bit of time when it was just Morry and the kids before I was able to get home.
I picked up McDonalds for the boys on my way home. Morry still hasn't really eaten anything in the last 2 days.
I just got the boys ready for bed. Morry is reading to Evan now.
