Cold Morning

This morning it was in the 30s so Morry drove Noah to school.

Shortly after I left for school.

I got home around noon and then left again around 3pm to tutor.

Morry walked to pick up Noah from school and then Noah went to Grandma and Papa's house.

When I was done with tutoring at 7:30 I went to Grandma and Papa's to pick up Noah.

Morry and Evan came home from baseball around 8pm.

Then, Morry and I ate our dinners.  I had leftovers from Grandma and Papa's and Morry had a leftover burger from last night.

The boys are playing video games, but about to stop as it is time to get ready for bed.

Full Day of Sports

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan seemed to be playing sports all weekend.  It culminated with a long day of two baseball games and a football game today.

Yesterday, he had a practice at the facility.  We came home for a little bit before I drove him to play basketball at his friend's house.  He and another boy went over to Henry's house to play basketball and record themselves shooting trick shots.

After that, we did some shopping at HEB and picked up dinner there.

This morning, Evan and I left the house just before 7am.  We stopped at Donut Taco Palace on the way to the fields.  Evan had a game scheduled for 9am and another one at 12:30.

In the first game, Evan threw out a runner trying to steal third and he picked off a runner who had taken a large lead off of third.  He also got the hit that knocked in run to put us down by one run and stole second which led to the runner on third tying the game.  He looked good out there.

In the second game, another catcher started as Evan had caught 5 innings.  They wanted to give him a break.  But when things got tougher, they put Evan in for the final 2 innings. In that time, Evan threw out a runner trying to steal second and again threw to a runner who had drifted off third.  In that case, the runner broke for home and they got him in a rundown tagging him out.  In his only at-bat, he crushed a ball to left that the left fielder caught on a dead sprint towards the foul line.  It was a great hit and a great catch.

We immediately drove to the football fields.  Evan warmed up some and then the game started.  He again alternated series at quarterback.  He looked good and he threw one touchdown.  His team won. Grandma, Papa and Rachel came to see him play.  Noah was at Sunday School.

Rachel, Grandma and Papa immediately left to go see Noah in a play at Sunday School.  Evan and I did not get there in time to see it.  We were told he was very good.

We went to Deckhand for dinner after Sunday School.

We're home now and the boys are cleaning up.

Until next time...

Late Dinner

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

It was around 36 with a strong wind this morning so we drove Noah to school.  Neither Noah no Rachel wanted to walk.

Rachel is not supervising Study Hall on Mondays and Wednesday anymore so she could go in later to school.  It's after lunch now.  I left for HomeAway around 9.

When I got home, we walked to pick Noah up. Chewie got to see another golden retriever on the walk.

I had a phone meeting at 3:30.  Rachel left shortly after I got off to leave for tutoring.

Evan had baseball practice at the facility tonight.  Cooper's parents drove so I dropped him off there while Rachel was tutoring.

Rachel got home at 7:30 and Evan got home closer to 8:30 so we didn't eat dinner until Evan got home.  Noah ate earlier.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Half-Marathon + Day Off

Yesterday, I left the house around 6:15am for the half marathon.  It was 31 degrees at the start of the run.   I did pretty well for about the first half, but then I got some stomach cramps and had to slow down.  I ended up finishing in just under 2 1/2 hours.  Deborah met me around mile 8.5 and ran the rest of the way with me.

Morry, Noah, Grandma, and Papa met me at the finish line.

Morry went to Evan's baseball scrimmage game.

Grandma, Papa, Noah, Deborah, and I met Holly (Suzanne's sister) and her family at Kerbey Lane for brunch.

Later in the day I took Noah to Sunday school and then went to Evan's flag football game.

Morry and Evan picked up Noah from Sunday school and then they picked up food from Me Con Bistro for all of us.

Today, the kids and I had off from school.

Evan and Noah went with Morry into the office for a little a while.  I got some things done around the house and was able to rest a little bit.

I tutored one student this afternoon.

For dinner, we had steak and shrimp.

Noah finished his science fair project tonight.  Morry helped him edit and print his reports and I helped glue them on the display board.

Noah the boys are playing video games until it's time for bed.

Here are some pictures from yesterday.

Thursday and Friday

Yesterday I taught, then came home to get Gizmo for his checkup at Austin Pets Alive.

They said he will need another eye surgery.  Other than that everything looked good.  He got his last vaccination.  They said someone will contact us soon to schedule the surgery.

For dinner last night we made pizza at home.

Today, while the kids were in school I went to pick up my race packet for the half-marathon this weekend.

This evening Evan had baseball practice.

On the way home, they picked up dinner for all of us at Pluckers and got home around 9pm.

Soon the boys will get ready for bed.

Nothing Special

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today was nothing special.  The boys didn't have any activities in the afternoon.  Neither boy went to Grandma and Papa's.  Rachel did tutor in the afternoon, but it nothing stood out.

It started with our normal walk to school.  It was threatening to rain but it hadn't rained before we walked.  It wasn't a real pleasant walk as it was cold and humid.

I worked from home for a little while and then went into HomeAway.

Rachel taught and then came home and picked Noah up.  I had a meeting at HomeAway that made it so I couldn't get back in time.

I had a phone meeting when I got home.

For dinner, I grilled fajitas.  Evan ate a ton.  He probably ate more than half of the meat.

Evan just finished his homework.  He and Noah will go to bed soon.

Until next time...

Long Walk, Football and Cheddars

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We didn't have any commitments today until 3:30.  So we took advantage of that by taking Chewie on a long walk. We walked through the neighborhood to the Slaughter Creek.  We walked along the creek for a while before turning back into the neighborhood and walking home.  It was closed to a 6 miles walk.  We let Chewie go in the creek.  He tried to lay down in the water only to discover how cold the water was on his belly.

I took Evan to his flag football game.  They had practice before the game.  The game was a tough one.  He's in the 7th and 8th grade league and the other team was exclusively 8th graders.  Not just 8th graders but exceptional athletes who are all tall.  Every single kid on the team except for one was taller than me.  Evan split time at QB with another boy.  In his first drive he completed one pass, then an incompletion.  Then a pass that traveled probably 30 yards in the air for a completion.  Then he threw a TD on the next play.  Unfortunately, that ultimately was the only score of the day for his team but he really did play well.

While Evan was playing football, Rachel took Noah to Sunday school.  She came home and got Papa and then went back out to pick Noah up and go to Cheddars.  We met them there after the game and Grandma arrived a few minutes later.  Rachel had gotten another free meal from Cheddars in exchange for a blog post.  We ate so much and we're all quite full.  But it was good.

We're home now and the kids are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Wholy Bagel and Friends

This morning I ran to Wholy Bagel (6.2 miles) and Morry and kids met me there for a breakfast/lunch.

We came back home and around noon Morry and Evan left for TRPD.  Evan had a good time with his friends.

While they were gone, Noah's friend Grayson came over and stayed most of the afternoon.  At one point, Brody came over too and they all played outside for a little while.

For dinner ordered pizza from Brooklyn pie company.

Now the kids are playing video games.

Still Sick

Evan stayed home from school again today.

I had my early class this morning and left the house around 7:30am.  Morry and Chewie walked Noah to school.

For lunch, I met a blogger friend of mine at Pinthouse Pizza.

I drove with Chewie to pick up Noah from school.

Morry had a meeting and got home around 5pm.

For dinner, we had flank steak.  Evan ate a lot.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Home Early

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, we walked with both Chewie and Luna when taking Noah to school.  Since Luna is older, she slowed us down a bit.

We came home and Rachel went for a short speed run.

I went into HomeAway around mid-morning.  Rachel went in to teach later in the morning.

Just before noon, I got a call on my cell phone from a number I didn't recognize.  It was Evan calling from the nurse.  He was having stomach issues and wanted to come home.  I had two meetings I needed to be at and Rachel had to teach so Grandma went over to pick up Evan and bring him home.

Rachel picked up Noah from school at the end of the day on her way back from teaching.  Then Noah went over to Grandma's house.  I came home a little while after that.

For dinner, Evan and I had waffles while Rachel had some leftover chicken.

Luna's family came and got her tonight.  We had her for two weeks.

The boys will be getting ready for school soon.

Until next time...

First Day Back To School and Pet Pics

Today was the kids' first day back to school after winter break.

We drove Noah to school since it was misty.  We brought Chewie in the car with us.

My school starts back tomorrow, but I had a staff meeting lunch today.

I stopped at HEB on my way home to pick up a few things.  I was very crowded and took longer than I thought.  When I got home Morry and Chewie had already left to pick up Noah.

I quickly put the groceries away and walked with Luna to meet them.

Evan went to Grandma's for dinner tonight.

We had rotisserie chicken and baked potatoes for dinner tonight.

Then, we walked to pick up Evan.

Gizmo is doing well adjusting to the house.  He's still scared of Chewie since Chewie keeps playfully barking at him.

Here are a few pictures of the animals.

Gizmo and the End of Winter Break

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Rachel, Grandma and Aunt Susan went to New Braunfels for the weekend for a girls trip.  They left just before lunch on Friday. That left the boys and me alone for the weekend.  But in addition to the boys, we have Calvin, Flash and Chewie.  We're still pet-sitting Luna. And, on Thursday, we got a new kitten who we named Gizmo.  He is so cute and so happy and loves to be around people.  He's still scared of Chewie but he seems ok with the two cats and Luna as long as the cats are not hissing at him.  The thing about him is he was born without eyelids and he needs drops in his eyes twice per day.

Also on Friday, Evan invited his friend Angelo to stay with us.  So we had a full house, even without Rachel, on Friday night. The boys all stayed up until 3am playing video games.

On Saturday, I took Evan to flag football practice.  Angelo's dad picked him up from there.  In the afternoon, Evan and I went to the TRPD facility and I helped him practice some.  A boy that we know that is joining the 11u team met us there and Evan worked with him some.

For dinner, we went to The League and Tavern with Papa.  It was our first time there.  We liked it.

This morning, I took the boys to get their hair cut.  In the afternoon, we went to the Ramati's for a 6 Points event.

For dinner, we met up with Grandma and Papa and went to Maudies.

Until next time...

First Post in 2019

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This is the first post of the New Year and the 12th year we've written a blog post.

On New Year's Eve, we took it easy during the day.  Rachel and I took Chewie and Luna for a long walk.  At night, the Edwards family came over.  Josh plays baseball with Evan and has across two teams since 2013. We went to Kura Revolving Sushi Bar.  I had been before and Rachel had taken Noah once.  The sushi plates come around on a revolving belt and you can order food that's delivered to you on a different belt.  It worked out well.  From there we went back to our house where we had dessert that Rachel made and watched the ball drop.

On New Year's Day, we went to Aunt Sandy and Uncle Marvin's house.  We brought the dessert and had a late lunch there.  It was a good time.

Today, I had to go into HomeAway. It was my first day back.  It was a long day as there was an afternoon meeting.

Rachel, Evan and Noah went with Grandma, Papa and Uncle Mike to Kerbey Lane.  Uncle Mike was in for a wedding.  Then they went back to Grandma and Papa's and sat around and had hot drinks and sat around and talked.  Noah had hot apple cider while Evan had hot chocolate with whipped cream.

For dinner, I made blackened chicken.

The boys are upstairs playing.

Until next time...
