Back With Friends

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

I had two phone meetings this morning.  One with Focus Forward, and one with HomeAway.  Rachel left shortly before my first phone meeting to start her run to Wholy Bagel.

When I was done with the phone calls, the boys and I left and met Rachel for bagels.

Shortly after we got home, I drove Evan over to Wade and Jude came over to play with Noah.  This was the first time during winter break that the boys saw their good friends.

Deborah came over for dinner.  We had on the Orange Bowl while we were eating.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

HomeAway and Play Date

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan was invited to have a play date with one of his friends from the baseball team.  His friend lives across the city - not too far from HomeAway.  Rachel and I had a meeting at HomeAway this afternoon, so we arranged for Evan to go over to his friend's house today.

Before that, though, I had a phone meeting with a potential client.  Mandy and I were on the call.

We dropped off Noah at Grandma's, then drove up north and dropped Evan off.

We were at HomeAway early so Rachel and I worked out of a conference room.  The meeting was pretty boring and useless.

We drove back, picked up Noah, and hung out at the house.

Then I drove back up north, ran to Best Buy to exchange something, and picked Evan up.  Evan's friend, Matthew, had also invited two other boys over (both from Matthew's school, though Evan had not met them until today).  First they went bowling (Evan won both games) and then they came back to the house and had lunch.  Then they went to the local elementary school and played.  Evan said they had a really good time.

For dinner, we had leftovers.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...

Hanukkah, Birthday, and Globetrotters

Yesterday we had a busy day.  Morry and I had two phone meetings with clients in the morning, then he had more meetings later in the day.

We were invited to Mandy's parent's house for Hanukkah so I was busy in the afternoon making Rice Crispy Treats and Brownies.  We left around 5pm for the party.

We had a nice time with Aaron and Mandy's family, Lauren's family, and Grandma and Papa.  Yesterday was also Grandma's birthday so we also celebrated her birthday last night.

Today, we went out to brunch for Grandma's birthday since we didn't get to go out yesterday.  Noah, Evan, Grandma, Papa and I went to Snooze.  It was very good.

Around 4:30 we all headed downtown for dinner and the Harlem Globetrotters.  We ate at Blacks Barbecue near campus and then went to the Globetrotters.  It was a nice evening.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Back to the Grind

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We all slept in a bit.  It was a tiring trip, though we had fun.

Evan went on a bike ride with Papa when we got up.  He seemed to have a good time.  Noah didn't go but he agreed to ride his bike tomorrow.  We'll see if that happens.

Rachel and Noah went for a run.

I drove and met Aaron and Dmitriy at a place where they are working on an interactive screen.  We went for lunch together at Easy Tiger.

We had grilled chicken for dinner.

After dinner, Rachel and I went to Target and HEB to get some things.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...

Colorado

We just got back from Colorado.  We had a wonderful time.  Here's what we did each day.

December 20
We woke up at 2:45am and left the house at 3:15am.  We had a 5:30am flight to Denver.

After arriving in Denver around 7am, we had breakfast at a diner near the airport.  Then, we drove the 3+ hours to Steamboat Springs.  The drive was very pretty with snow and mountains.

We arrived at our condo and waited for the Edwards (Chad, Susie, Josh, and Karenna) family to join us.   Then, we all went to the mountain take care of ski rentals.

For dinner, we ate downtown.

December 21
We took the free shuttle bus and arrived to the mountain around 9am.  The kids, Chad, and Susie took ski lessons all day.  Morry skied on his own and met him for lunch.   Everyone had a good time.

For dinner, we at an an Italian place downtown.  We were seated at the bar and were able to watch them make pizza and other dishes.

December 22
Everyone skied.   We stopped for lunch and then kept skiing.  We finished the day on a blue (intermediate) slope.

For dinner, the kids ate in the condo while the adults went out to eat dinner on our own.  We had a nice time.

December 23
The Edwards left for California and we made the drive to Denver.

We met Marchin and his girlfriend Tara for dinner at Phoenician Grill.   It was very good Mediterranean food.  At the end of dinner, the belly dancer pulled Evan up to dance with her.  He was a good sport.

From there, we got a tour of Denver.  We went to Marchin's video studio and then we drove and walked around downtown Denver.  We ice skated at a free rink outdoors.  It only cost $2 for skate rental.

December 24
We went to Washington Park in the morning.  We were looking for a park near our hotel and ended up there.  It was a very pretty park with a pond and bike/walking trail.

At 1pm we went to Gila's place.  We hung out with them during the afternoon.  We planned to go to a beer garden for lunch but it was closed.  We ended up eating at Einstein's Bagels because it was one of the only options open.

Gila has a daughter, Alma, who is 10 years old.  The kids played very well together.

Gila and her husband have a chocolate company, Dar Chocolates.  They showed us how they make the bean-to-bar chocolate and then we got to sample some chocolates too.  They were all very good.

At night, we went to a Hanukkah party at one of Gila's friend's house.  We had a nice time.    We stayed at the house until around 11pm.

December 25
We flew back home.  Everything worked out well.

When we got in, Morry and I walked to Grandma and Papa's house to pick up Lizzy.  Aunt Diane and Uncle Jay were there, so we spent some time hanging out there.

For dinner the kids wanted to go to Buffet Palace.  It was open and very busy.

After dinner, we stopped by Grandma and Papa's to pick up Lizzy's food bag and light Hanukkah candles.

Now the boys are getting ready for bed.

Google Fiber

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The title of this post is Google Fiber, but it could have easily been "Very Cold".  This morning, it was 23 degrees on the walk to school.  It was not windy so I don't think it was any colder than that.  But it was cold.  Rachel seemed very uncomfortable.  Lizzy and the boys didn't mind.

I had a meeting where I gave a demo when we got home.  Then Rachel and I went to the airport.  Rachel had a meeting to get her Global Entry.  My meeting is scheduled for January.  We were hoping they could fit me in but they couldn't.

We stopped at Academy on the way to get hand and foot warmers.

Just after lunch, Google came to the house.  We had schedule Google Fiber to be installed.  With that we'd get 1 Gigabit download and upload speeds.  For comparisons sake, typical internet speeds are between 10 and 20 Megabits.  So this is 1000 Megabits.  I have been looking forward to this.  The installer was very good.  He knew what he was doing.  He actually came early which is a first for this type of service.  Aaron came over and we talked through some stuff with the installer.  Papa also stopped by to see how they were setting it up.  Aaron and I are going to put some hardware for work in the house since the internet speed will now be that good here.

Rachel went to pick up the boys since we were still dealing with the installation.

For dinner, we had some coupons and a gift certificate to Taco Cabana so Noah and I went and picked up the food and brought it home.

The boys will be getting ready for bed soon.

Until next time...

Sugar

This morning we took it easy at home.  Morry did work and I got stuff done around the house.

Early afternoon we left to run some errands.  First, we went to HEB to pick up something for Evan's class gift exchange. Then, we went to Voodoo Doughnuts to pick up dessert for the potluck tonight.  Next, we went to Barnes and Noble to get a book for the potluck gift exchange.

Evan and Morry went to Jesse's birthday party from 3-5.

Noah and I went over to the neighbor's party around 4:30.  Morry and Evan met us there after the birthday party.

It was a nice party.  The kids had a ton of sugar.  There was a table with desserts.  Then, they also had smores and hot chocolate at the party.  Both boys made smores.  Evan got hot chocolate and I put a few marshmallow in it for him.  Then, he decided to put even more marshmallows in the his drink. I think he had a little hot chocolate with his marshmallows.

When we got home the boys got ready for bed.

Morry is still working tonight and I still have a ton of stuff to do to get ready for the week.

Here are some pictures from today.
