Final Tournament

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The first game of Evan's final tournament in the fall season was at 8am in Taylor this morning.  In order to get up there for warmups, we had to leave the house at 6am.  I got Evan up around 5:40.  He was a bit grumpy and it took him a while to wake up, but once we got going, he was excited.  We stopped at Donut Taco Palace for the first time in a long time on the way up.

TRPD won their first game.  Evan caught the first three innings of the game.  He did well.  He also had two hits and two RBIs.  One of the hits was a clutch two-out hit again.  In the final inning, he was playing first base.  The pitcher got in some trouble, so they pulled Evan and had him warm up in order to come in.  The pitcher was able to get out of it so Evan didn't end up pitching.

Rachel came to see the second game.  Deborah wanted to come watch as well.  TRPD lost.  Evan played first base, left and center fields in the game.  Leading off in the top of the fourth, Evan smoked a ball between short and third.  It was hit really hard.  The coach even commented on how hard the ball was hit after the game.  He came around to score the team's first run.

After the game, Evan's coach came up to talk to me.  Each team has one coach, but often other coaches in the organization help out.  Most of them float between teams.  Evan's coach cannot make the game tomorrow so he said goodbye to the kids today and he came up to tell me how proud he was of Evan.  He went on and on about how much Evan has grown this season.  The coach is very excited to see Evan in the spring.

Evan's friend and teammate Reid rode home with us.  We stopped a New York-style pizza place in Taylor and the boys got pizza for the trip home.  I met Reid's mom at Starbucks on the way home to make the transfer.

Rachel dropped Deborah off and went and picked up Noah who had been at Grandma and Papa's during the game.  She came home, got some quick food and left to go tutor.

I watched the Army-Navy game.  Evan came down and watched the second half with me.  Noah stayed upstairs and played with his iPad.

For dinner, we had Chinese delivery from China Dynasty.  We watched the latest episode of Timeless.

The boys are getting ready for bed now.

Until next time...
