Bagel Friday

This morning it was a little bit chilly and Noah was throwing a fit.  We ended up driving to school.

Later in the morning I went for a run and then to HEB.

Morry had a meeting and then we met at Wholy Bagel for lunch.

We walked to get the boys from school. By then it had warmed up to the 80s.

After school Evan played at Jack's house.

Morry and Noah went to Noah's baseball practice and picked up Torchy's Tacos on the way home.

We just finished dinner.

We'll get the boys ready for bed soon.  We have a big sports day tomorrow.

Night Four of Sports

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning was very cold again - around 30 degrees - so we drove to school.  We saw Evan's teacher from last year named Ms. Wenske.  She was very excited to see Evan.  We really hope that Noah gets her next year.

I had a busy day of work.

In the afternoon, we picked up the boys.  We walked as the temperature had risen to close to 60 degrees.  It was very sunny, albeit a bit windy.  The boys were in good moods.

In the late afternoon, Evan had practice for the Nationals.  It was our fourth consecutive evening with some sporting activity.  Noah had practice on Monday, Evan had a scrimmage for the Marauders on Tuesday, Evan had basketball yesterday and today was Nationals practice.  Tomorrow is practice for Noah.  Saturday, Evan has both basketball and baseball.  Sunday Evan has Marauders and Nationals baseball.  Then everything will start calming down.

Evan had another good baseball practice.  He really likes all the kids on his team and I think that translates into playing well.  He was excited for practice and he was playing well.  He and Darius stuck together the whole practice.  Darius and Evan play basketball together too.  In fact, Evan and Darius are now playing on their fifth team together so it's good for both of them.

On the way home, we picked up dinner from Wendy's.

The boys are both asleep now.

Until next time...

Basketball Night

This morning we drove the boys to school.  It was 39 degrees and windy.

I was going to take Lizzy for a short walk, but it started raining.

Morry picked up the boys from school while I was out tutoring.

Blanca came over.

Morry gave dinner to both boys and then he and Evan left for basketball practice.

Noah and I spent the evening at home.

I just got a call from Morry that they are on their way home now.  He said Evan and his friend Darius were having a good time and it was hard to get them to leave.

Late Night of Baseball

This morning we were going to walk the boys to school, but it was drizzling when we left the house.

During the day Morry and I ran some errands.

We walked to get the boys from school.

We had an early dinner and then Morry and Evan left for a baseball practice/scrimmage in Dripping Springs.  The game started at 7pm, so it will be a late night for Evan.

Noah and I went to HEB after dinner.

Noah is in his room now ready for bed.

Baseball Starts for Noah

This morning we walked the boys to school.

Morry picked them up while I was out tutoring.

Noah had baseball practice at 5pm today.  Morry took both boys with him since I wasn't home yet.  Morry said they had a good practice.  Noah had fun and did well.  Evan had fun playing with some of the older brothers.

We just ate dinner.  The boys are having their dessert.  I'll help them with homework/reading and then we'll get them ready for bed.

Party, Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning Evan, Noah and I drove up and picked Zayde up for brunch.  Unfortunately, we couldn't spend as much time with him today as normal.  Evan had a birthday party to go to in the early afternoon. After that we had a party for Noah's baseball team.

We went to the Frisco for brunch.  It's an ok brunch place, but it was convenient from a timing perspective.  The boys did eat well there.  Noah ate all of his pancake and bacon.

We came home and I did a very little bit of work before having to leave to take Evan to the birthday party.  It was a laser tag party.  He and the birthday boy, Brayden, formed a team in the first time they played.  They came in second.  Then he and another boy he knows from baseball formed a team the second time.  He seemed to have a great time playing there.

We went straight from there to a party for Noah's baseball team.  One of the mom's offered to have a team kick-off party.  Noah and Rachel were there and Evan and I got there a bit late.  Evan and Noah were in the trampoline with a net on it.  A bunch of boys were in there wrestling and throwing a big blow up ball at each other.  I don't think Evan came out for close to two hours.  Noah came out one time.  It was a very nice party and the backyard of the hosts were really nice.  We have some good families on the team.

We came home and sat outside on our porch for a while while the boys played with flashlights in the dark.  Then we came in and got the kids ready for bed.

Until next time...

Crazy Saturday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning started early.  I got up early and drove over and picked Evan up from his friends at 7:15am after his sleepover.  We drove and picked up donuts at Donut Taco Palace I.  Then we went over to his 8am basketball game.

Evan's team lost for the first time this season.  The other team was quite a bit taller.  Evan had to guard a kid that was at least 4 inches taller than him.  Evan actually did a pretty good job.  The boy wasn't able to do much.  Evan was able to grab one rebound over top of him.

After basketball, we came home for about an hour.  Then Evan and I left to go to his first practice of the season with the Nationals.  I'm the assistant coach on that team.  It was nice to see how our draft turned out.  We seemed to get quite a few good kids on top of the 4 we had returning from last season.  Evan had one of the best practices I have seen him have in a while.  He seemed confident and really enjoyed himself.

After baseball we came home for a few hours.  Evan wanted to watch Spaceballs (the tv-edited version without the bad language).  At 4pm we had Marauders practice.  Evan looked very tired.  I left him on the couch and went to practice without him.  Practice went very well.  We didn't have too many kids as the Oak Hill season started so everyone seemed to have multiple practices going on.

From practice I drove to Zayde's house.  Rachel and the boys met me there.  And then we went to a place called Quality Seafood for dinner.  Evan got salmon and Noah had calamari and lox.  The boys seemed to have a good time.  I think everyone had fun at dinner.

We came home and the boys are in their rooms now.

Until next time...

Evan's Night Out

This morning we walked the boys to school and then I did a long run.  I ran 6.2 miles.

Morry and I went to Wholy Bagel for lunch.

We walked to get the boys from school.  We were home for just a little bit and then we took Evan to a birthday party, a sleepover birthday party.  He's been really looking forward to this.  It's a kid in his class.  They are going to GattyTown and then sleeping over at Kyle's house.

We let Noah pick where to eat for dinner.  He chose Logans.

We went to Fiesta after dinner.  We thought it would be fun picking out different fruits and ethnic foods.  We only got a few things.  It was somewhat disappointing.  It was a small Fiesta and they didn't have that many rare items.

Noah just had a bath and now he's ready for bed.

Noah's Team

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We walked again to school today.  We've been able to walk every day this week, which has been nice.

I had to run to the bank and I picked up a smoothie at Smoothie King for lunch.

Both Rachel and I picked up the boys from school today.  Noah's friend from school Penelope stayed with us until we walked by the parking lot where her mom had parked.  She then told Noah that she wanted to marry him some day.  It was very cute.

At 6, I had a coaches meeting for Noah's team.  They distributed the rosters and gave us some updates on things.  I brought the boys since Rachel was tutoring.  They played baseball with an 11-year-old.  Evan said the boy taught him how to throw a knuckleball.

We had dinner at Austin Pizza Garden.

The boys are now in bed.

Until next time...

The Draft

This morning we walked the boys to school.

I had a lunch meeting and then came home for a little bit.

I left to tutor and Morry picked up the kids from school.

When I got home Morry had already left for the baseball draft and Gabby was watching the boys.

Evan, Noah, and I spent the evening at home.  We had dinner and watched some of the Olympics.

The boys are ready for bed and both in Evan's room right now.

Lizzy the Challah Thief

This morning we walked the boys to school.

Around lunch time we picked up Zayde/Jack and went to look at an independent living apartment.  We ate lunch there.  It seemed nice.

Morry and I walked to get the boys at school and then we had Noah's parent/teacher/student conference.  There were a few other kids there at the same time. There was stations set up around the room and the kids showed us what they were learning. Then, we could talk to the teacher if we had any questions.  Noah's doing very well and ahead of where he should be at this point.  He seems to be enjoying school.

When we got home I found a torn up plastic bag on the stairs.  I realized it was the challah bag from the challah I bought yesterday.  There was more than half the challah left on the counter, but it was all gone.  Lizzy must have had a great time with that.

Morry and Evan went to basketball practice.  Noah and I had dinner at home and watched the Olympics.

Both boys are in their rooms now ready for bed.

Running around

This morning it was in the 60s so we walked to school.

I went for a run and then shopping at HEB.

I left to tutor and Morry picked up the boys at school.

Gabby came over.

When I got home Morry and the kids were in the cul-de-sac with Nathan and his dad playing street hockey.

For dinner we had orange soda chicken.  We were out of Sprite, but it still came out good.

The boys are playing on Evan's computer.  In a little bit we'll get them ready for bed.

Sunday Brunch with Zayde

This morning we went to brunch at Nutty Brown.

The rest of the day was spent at home taking it easy.

For dinner we had tacos and then ice cream for dessert.

Morry just left to take Zayde home.  Noah's in the shower.

Basketball, Baseball and a Date

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan had a basketball game today but not until noon.  What that meant is that we could relax for a bit this morning.  We weren't rushing around trying to get somewhere early which was nice.

Evan and I left a bit early and we went and got Zayde and then went to the middle school where they play.  Evan warmed up with his team and then had his game.  The game was a total mismatch and Evan's team was winning 32-0 before the other team finally made their first basket.  Evan got handful of rebounds and was able to get his hand on three shots so the ball didn't make it to the basket.  He took one shot but missed it.

After the game, we stopped got gas and Icees and came home.  We all had lunch at home.

At 3:30, Zayde, Evan and I left to go to Evan's baseball practice for the Marauders.  Evan had a bit of a lull in the middle of practice where he said he was tired, but he finished up well.  He caught two pop ups.

When we got home, I quickly showered and Rachel and I went out to a restaurant called Zingers.  The food was pretty good.  Oddly enough, someone eating at the restaurant brought a lemur there.  Rachel went over after we ate to see the lemur.

We came home.  Zayde had put the boys to bed but they are still awake.  We'll be tucking them in shortly.

Until next time...

Valentines

This morning the boys were excited about Valentine's Day.  They left a few notes/signs for us.

Both boys had parties at school, but the parents were only invited to Noah's party.  I came to Noah's party at 9:15.  He seemed to have fun at the party and was happy to see me.

Morry and I had our usual bagel lunch at Wholy Bagel.

We walked to get boys from school.

For dinner we had China Dynasty delivered and then had ice cream at home for dessert.

More Warming

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning was still cold here.  But we knew it was going to warm up.  The sun was out even before we drove the kids to school.

We didn't have any meetings or anything going on today, so Rachel and I just stayed at the house.

We walked to pick the boys up from school.  It had gotten very nice out.  I was actually hot on the way home.

We had to have an early dinner because Rachel has a new student that she's tutoring.  She was tutoring at 6:30.

The boys are upstairs playing together.  Rachel is on her way home.

Until next time...

While they were at school I went to a Pink Ribbon Cowgirls lunch at Central Market.

We drove to get the boys from school.  It was in the upper 30s and drizzling.

For dinner, the boys and I had crab.  Morry had pork I had picked up Central Market.

The boys are ready for bed now.

100 Days of School

This morning was the 100th day of school.  It was supposed to be last week, but we had all of those snow days.

Noah's class celebrated the 100th day with lots of activities and books.  I think just the kindergarten celebrates it.

Morry picked up the boys from school and I tutored. Gabby came over.

When I got home we got dinner ready.  We had leftovers.

We watched some of the Olympics and now the boys are ready for bed.

Brunch

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning we didn't have anything super early in the morning that needed to be done.  We did invite the Nehmans over for brunch along with their daughter Laura, Laura's husband, Ken and their son Clark.  Rachel ran over to Wholy Bagel. I went up and got Zayde.

When I got home, I joined Rachel in preparing for the brunch.

Everyone came over around noon.  We talked for a while.  Clark is Noah's age.  The boys went upstairs and played Legos together.  When we ate, all the kids ate outside on the porch while the adults ate inside.

When everyone left, Zayde and the boys watched Despicable Me 2.  Dmitriy stopped by for a bit to borrow something.

For dinner we just had something light at home.

On the way to take the Zayde home, we stopped at gelato place called Teo.

The boys are now in bed.

Until next time...

Busy Day

Morry and Evan got up early to go to the Oak Hill baseball tryouts.  Evan didn't need to try out this year, but he wanted to be there to help.  Morry texted me around 9am to come get Evan.  He was to cold and wanted to come home.

I took both boys to Evan's basketball game at noon.  Evan played well and got a basket.  His team won.

After that we went to HEB to pick up a few things.

Morry got home a little after we did.

Then, at 4pm Evan had his baseball practice.  Morry took Evan to that and they picked up Chuy's for dinner on the way home.

Morry just ran out to get a Redbox movie for us.

We'll get the boys ready for bed soon.

Everything is Awesome (Song from The Lego Movie)

We had another "snow day" today.  We got the call last night that school was cancelled.  The boys, of course, were very excited.  Right after the call the bought tickets online to see the Lego Movie for today.  The tickets were almost sold out.  So, we weren't the only ones with that idea.

We didn't get any snow or ice by us.  We kept the movie a surprise until it was just about time to go.  We told they boys we were going to lunch.  When they asked where we said, "Alamo Drafthouse" and they were very happy.

The movie was really cute and creative.  I would definitely recommend it. The boys and Morry loved it as well.  There was a song in the movie, "Everything is Awesome" that the boys really liked.  It's catchy and we keep singing it.

We had dinner at home.  I made tortilla soup.

The boys are ready for bed.  Evan and Morry are watching the Olympics.  Noah is playing on his computer.

Another 2 Hour Delay

This morning we got a call at 6am that school was delayed 2 hours.  It got below freezing and I guess some parts of Austin got ice.  By us, it was completely dry.

We drove the boys to school.

While they were at school I was busy.  I did some cleaning at home, had a meeting, and went to Sams Club.

We drove to pick up the boys from school.  It was still really cold outside.

The boys are watching some of the Olympics now and soon we'll put them to bed.

Evan's doing better

This morning Evan did not a have fever, but said he still wasn't feeling well.  We wanted him to go to school anyway and said he could come home if he really wasn't feeling well.  We drove the boys to school this morning.  We were sure we were going to get a call soon, but Evan made it through the day fine.

Morry picked the boys up from school and Evan said he was feeling better.

I tutored.  Blanca came over.

Morry and Evan went to basketball practice.

When I got home I made dinner for Noah and me.

Evan and Morry got home a little after 7pm.

Evan seems to be doing a lot better tonight than last night.

Both boys are ready for bed now.

Evan's still sick

This morning we drove to drop the boys off at school.

Later it warmed up to the 60s so we walked to get them.  Evan seemed in a bad mood at pickup.  He said he didn't feel well.

He had a slight fever this afternoon, but felt better with Tylenol.

He ate a pretty good dinner.

We'll see how he's doing in the morning.  If he still has a fever I'll make a doctor's appointment for him.

Soon, we'll put the boys to bed.

Super Bowl Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today we had a Super Bowl party.  In the morning, we ran out to HEB to pick up some last minute things.  HEB was very crowded.  From there, we drove to Wholy Bagels and picked up some bagels for brunch with Zayde.

We got Zayde and brought him to our house and had brunch.

Then the preparations began.  I made a chocolate creme pie and popcorn.  I also grilled corn ahead of time.  Rachel and Zayde picked up wings.

A bit after 5, everyone, started to come to the house.  We had about 4 other families.  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

The boys are now sleeping.

Basketball and Zayde

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Evan had an early basketball game today at 8am.  We stopped at Donut Taco Palace I before the game and got donuts.  That seemed to perk Evan up.  He still is not feeling 100%.  Evan seemed to play better as the game went on.  He and his team played really great defense the whole game and won again.  Evan grabbed a great rebound and somehow ended up on his back. Then he made a pass while laying on the ground.  It was a very athletic play.

From there, we came home and Evan played more basketball with Nathan in the cul-de-sac.  He started getting tired and we agreed to go home and take it easy.  I put a movie on while the boys ate lunch.  Evan developed a cough at the end of his stomach bug.

It seemed to get bad this afternoon.  I'm not sure why.  We had him sit in the shower for a while.

For dinner, we were going to pick Zayde up and go to a Colombian restaurant, but due to a kitchen fire it was closed.  We went to Texas Roadhouse again.  Evan was acting ok, but the moment we got to the restaurant, he started to complain about not feeling well and refused to eat.  He wanted to go home.  The food was very good tonight.

When taking Zayde home, we saw a 7-Eleven.  Evan wanted a Slurpee.  So we stopped and got he and Noah Slurpees.  After that we dropped Zayde off at his house.

It seems that the Slurpee did wonders for Evan.  He was in a good mood by the time we got home.  I think in general he's not feeling well, but I think he actually needed food to eat as well.  He can get cranky when he's hungry.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...
