Evan's Birthday Party

Hello everyone, this is Morry. Rachel asked me to write the blog tonight.

Well today's was Evan's birthday party. Rachel set the alarm for 8:30am. The boys got up shortly thereafter. We got ready, got the boys dressed and came downstairs. Everyone started getting ready for the party. I set up Evan's soccer goal and brought some stuff outside. Then I went to HEB to pick up the cake.

When I got home, we finished getting ready. The party was schedule from 11 to 1. The first person didn't get to the house until 11:15. Evan, for some reason, by that point was in a very bad mood. He wanted to play upstairs with the GeoTrax and go upset when I brought him downstairs.

For the first half of the party, Evan was kind of cranky. I think he was a little overwhelmed. He just played on the swings. Noah was very happy though. He enjoyed all the attention that he was getting. We got a piƱata and it was at that point that Evan started to cheer up. He couldn't wait to hit it and get the candy. Every kid got one turn before it broke open. Evan went right for the lollipops. I helped him put some candy in his bag, but he was more interested in eating it - particularly the lollipops.

After that we blew out the candles and ate cake. Evan enjoyed his cake and Noah really enjoyed the cake. I think he got as messy with Evan's cake than he did with his own cake. Somehow he even got icing on his legs and pants and shoes. I'm not even sure how that happened.

Once most of the kids left, we let Evan open his presents. After opening up each gift he'd say "Oh, wow!" We let him take a few of the gifts out of the box. The rest we may put away and give to him over the next few months.

Evan was too wound up to go down for a nap, so we didn't try. We did put Noah down for a nap.

For dinner, we went to Matt's El Rancho. Rachel's extended family came along. I left early to stop at Academy to pick Evan's bike up. When I got to the restaurant, exactly on time I might add, I was the first of the party to show up. I called Rachel to see where they were, and Rachel said that Evan had been really upset and fell asleep in the car. Once they got to the restaurant and Evan got some food in him, he started to cheer up. Both boys ended up being very well behaved.

We gave the boys baths when we got home and Evan threw a fit. I think he was just over-tired. It took awhile to get him down to bed, but he did calm down and now he appears to be asleep. Tomorrow he has another big day as he'll get some of his bigger gifts. It's hard to believe that Evan will be 3 tomorrow.

Until next time...
