Hiking

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

When Rachel and I got up this morning, we were feeling much better. No longer did the feeling of needing to vomit every time we stood up occur. The boys got up around 7:30 and patiently played in the gameroom while Rachel and I tried to get a little bit extra sleep to recover.

At 11:30 we were supposed to meet my friend Dawn and her dog Domingo at Emma Long park to go hiking. We waited to see how we were feeling and both of us felt like we were up for it. Dawn is a friend of mine from when I worked at Motorola. She was in the orientation with me. Her dog, Domingo, is a friend of Lizzy's from when they were puppies. They used to play together a lot.

Before we left, Rachel made eggs for the boys and her. I some slices of a honeycrisp apple. When we got to the park, Lizzy immediately rushed over to Domingo. She was in heaven. Emma Long is a leash-less hiking trail. We got started on the hike. Evan ran ahead with the dogs. He didn't seem to have any problem with the rocky trail. At various points, on the hike, we'd have to cross over the creek and you had to step on rocks to get across. Rachel helped Evan the first time and Dawn helped him the second time. From then on, Evan insisted on doing it by himself - even over some rocks which were pretty far apart. He was really good at it. Evan has tremendous balance. We carried Noah across the creek each time. Lizzy ran through the water. She got to swim a lot. It was about 70 degrees out so the temperature was perfect. The hike is about 3 miles long and Evan walked most of it. I carried him just a bit at the end. Noah also walked most of it. We had to carry him a bit more. But really both boys were great. They got somewhat whiny at the end, but I think that's understandable.

When we left, I asked if Evan and Noah wanted Slurpees. Of course they did, so we stopped and got Slurpees.

When we got home, we tried to put Noah down for a nap but he didn't sleep. Evan didn't asleep either.

For dinner, Rachel and I decided we could eat a meal. We are running the Race for the Cure tomorrow morning so we decided to go to Carino's for dinner for some pasta.

We got home, gave the kids baths. Despite such an active day, they are still awake.

Until next time...
