Port Flushing

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Last night went pretty smoothly. Neither Noah or Evan got up in the middle of the night. And Evan only came out of his room once last night.

This morning, Evan slept until after 8. Rachel got them up and took Evan to school.

Rachel and Noah came home for a bit. She had a 10:45 appointment at the oncologist to get her port "flushed". Her port is basically an outlet to her vein so they could draw blood or give her the chemo without needing to do an IV. After about a month if it hasn't been used, it needs to be flushed. They put in some thinner so that the blood doesn't clot. She's having her port removed next week so this is the only time she needed to do it. She decided to call Alissa and see if Alissa could watch Noah while this was being done. Alissa lives right near the oncology place. Rachel picked Alissa up and they went. They had to wait a while for Rachel to be called in, but once she was in there, Alissa watched Noah.

For lunch, they went to a sandwich placed called Kneaded Pleasures.

Rachel and Noah went home and then Rachel put Noah in the stroller and walked to Evan's school to pick Evan up. She said it felt good to walk.

The boys went down for a nap. When Noah got up, he told Rachel he had pooped. When she went to change him, she realized it was a blow out and it was all up his back. She threw him in the bath. Evan wanted to take a bath too and undressed and jumped in. When he saw the poop floating in the bath, though, he quickly jumped out. I got home right about the time Rachel put him in the bath. I got home and I heard the bath running and Noah crying hysterically. I went up to find this scene. I scrubbed Noah while Rachel held the shower head and rinsed him off. While I dried and dressed Noah, Evan insisted on taking a shower. With Rachel's help he was able to clean himself. He didn't want to come out.

For dinner, we had an enchilada meal that Lisa had made for us a while back. They brought over two meals that time. That night we had one and we froze the other. It really came in handy tonight. I made pasta for the boys.

After dinner, Rachel went to tutor. Evan watched a Goofy Movie and Noah played on the computer while I helped him. He really enjoys the computer.

The boys are now in bed.

Until next time..
