Five Youth Sporting Events

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Today, four youth sporting events were guaranteed to happen.  Evan had at least one baseball game and a flag football game.  Noah had two scheduled flag football games.  Evan had to be at the field at 9:30 so we left the house with Zayde at 8:30.  We stopped at Donut Taco Palace on the way.

Rachel and Noah were able to make it up to the game and got there shortly after the start.

Evan's team did well and won the game advancing to the semifinals.  Evan did not have a particularly great game.  He let a ball go through is legs in left field and didn't charge a ball when he was at third base.   He did pinch run at one point and did very well during that.  But it was good his team moved on.

Zayde, Rachel and Noah after that game so they could get back home to get ready for Noah's game.  Rachel dropped Zayde and Noah at Subway to get lunch while she went to HEB to pick up a prescription.

Noah's team did not do well in their first game.  Zayde texted me to say that Noah was their secret weapon though.  He had several running plays which was good.

In Evan's second baseball game, his team didn't score any runs in the top of the first.  In the bottom of the first, the other team scored 9 runs, had the bases loaded and two outs and they brought Evan in.  His first pitch was fouled off.  His second pitch was a ground ball to second base for the third out.  In the top of the second, Evan came up to bat with a runner on third and two outs.  He hit a ground ball to deep short and beat it out for an infield single which scored the first run of the game.  Evan came out and was able to get through the second inning without giving up a run.  He hit a batter and the second baseman had an error on what would have been the third out of the inning but he still managed to get through.  In the bottom of the third, Evan again pitched a scoreless inning.  He gave up one hit but that was it.  Evan came up to bat in the top of the fourth after we had scored 4 runs with two outs and a runner on second.  Evan lined a shot between the second baseman and second base to knock in the fifth run to make it 9-6.  Evan didn't pitch in the bottom of the fourth.  The other team scored one run to make it 10-6.  In the top of the fifth (the last inning), we scored one run and had runners at second and third with no outs and were not able to capitalize and fell 10-7.  The whole team played a great game though.  They definitely out hit the other team.  Several baserunning mistakes cost us the game.  But Evan really was a big hero in the game.  All his disappointment from the first game went away.

After the game we jumped in the car to get down to Evan's football game.  He had warmups one hour before his game.  We got there about 20 minutes late.  That meant I missed 20 minutes of Noah's second game.  I did get to see the end of the first half and all of the second half.  Noah ran the ball really well and the team came close to winning this time.  They did really well.

Evan's team won their game.  Evan almost had an interception where he jumped the route.  If he had held on he may have had a pick-6.  He caught one pass when he was on offense but played well in general.

Grandma and Papa had come to see the second half of Noah's second game and all of Evan's game.

From there we left and went to Tarbouch and had a nice dinner.

The boys are in bed now.

Until next time...
