3 Mile Run

This morning I dropped Evan off at school and Noah at Alena’s. Both boys were pretty good this morning. When I came home I ate breakfast and then went for a run with Lizzy. I was able to run 3 miles. It was good for Lizzy too. She has put on some weight since we haven’t been walking her much lately.

I cleaned up some around the house and then picked up the boys. I got Evan first and then Noah. Both of them didn’t want to leave Alena’s house. We had a little bit of a struggle.

When we got home it was nap time. Both Evan and Noah ended up napping. Evan fell asleep on the floor in the game room.

For dinner we had Panko chicken and rice.

I left to tutor and Morry took care of the boys tonight.

When I got home Morry had given them showers and put them to bed, but both were still awake. Evan keeps coming downstairs.

Gym and HEB

This morning the boys were pretty good at home. Evan got up early and Morry set him up in the game room before he left for work.

It was almost 12 by the time we got out of the house. I took Evan and Noah to the gym and Noah did a lot better this time. I was able to run on the treadmill for 25 minutes, shoot some hoops, sit in the sauna a few minutes, and swim a little bit. While I was getting dressed in the locker room they called my name over the speakers to come to the childcare. I was done with my workout luckily. Noah needed a diaper change and was crying that he wanted me. It sounds like besides that things went well. Evan told me he saw Emma (a girl in his class) and Jodie, but Allen (Jodie’s son in Evan’s class) wasn’t there since he was taking a Karate class.

After the gym we went to HEB. Evan and Noah were pretty good there. Noah threw a mini-fit and kicked off his shoes, but I kept them well fed on samples and things we were buying in our cart.

When we got home the boys had lunch and then it was nap time. Noah slept and Evan played in the game room.

Blanca came at 4:15 and went to tutor.

When Morry came home he took the boys to Evan’s sports class. We moved him into the 4-6 year-olds class. They did tennis today.

On my way home I picked up dinner at Chick-Fil-A.

We ate at home and then put the boys to bed. Evan fought sleep. Morry and I watch some TV and then went to check on Evan. He was sleeping on the landing of the stairs. Morry just moved him into his bed.

Peaches!

So, this morning went a lot better than the last time I took Evan to school. We didn’t have any major problems today. We took our time and were late to school, but at least Evan didn’t put up a fight.

After we dropped Evan off at school Noah and I went to the post office to mail some tax things.

We came home for a little bit and then went to the gym. We met Morry there to get all of our membership stuff. Morry had to go back to work, but I stayed and worked out. I ran on the treadmill and then sat in the steam room and hot tub for just a little bit. I was in the hot tub just a few minutes when someone from the childcare came through holding a sign with my name. I quickly got dressed and picked up Noah. They said he had been crying pretty much the whole time. He doesn’t do as well when Evan is not there. I’ll try again tomorrow, but this time Evan and Noah will be together in the childcare.

After the gym we went to pick up Evan. They were all outside on the playground during pickup. I had a little bit of a hard time getting Evan and Noah to leave the playground.

When we got home it was nap time. Noah went to sleep pretty easily. Evan ended up falling asleep in the game room.

When Morry got home we made dinner. We had hamburgers and potatoes.

After dinner we went outside and the boys rode their bikes and the scooter. Noah still doesn’t have the hang of pedaling. He just likes to scoot around using his feet on the ground. Evan is getting a little bit better at his big bike with training wheels. He still has a hard time when it’s uphill.

While we were outside we noticed there are peaches starting to grow on Evan’s tree! There are quite a few little peaches starting to grow. This is the first year we have had any peaches. I hope they are good.

Evan and Noah are in the rooms now, but both are still awake. They aren’t complaining or anything, just playing.

Here’s a video from the other day. I was giving the boys haircuts out on the upstairs porch and Evan got a hold of the camera. Here’s some video he took.

1 ½ Hour Tantrum

This morning Evan slept until about 7:45am – later than usual. Once Noah got up we went downstairs and I got our dinner started in the crock pot. Noah was being very needy and it took a long time for me to get it done. Normally the stew is very quick. I just brown the meat, add seasoning, and add frozen vegetables to the crock pot.

I told Morry I probably wouldn’t go anywhere this morning. It has been really hard lately when I take the boys on outings. Evan normally gives me a hard time.

Evan and Noah were very well behaved at home this morning and I wanted to get out of the house. I decided to take the boys and Lizzy for a walk around Town Lake. Usually Evan, Noah, and LIzzy enjoy going out there.

I packed some food and drinks for Evan and Noah and we all got in the car and drove to the lake.

When I was getting Noah into the stroller Evan somehow fell in the grass next to the trail and scraped his wrist. It was a little scrape but he insisted he needed a Band-Aid. I got back in the car and gave Evan a Band-Aid from the diaper bag. He seemed better after that.

Evan ran/walked for a little while alongside the stroller. Once we got to the railroad tracks (from the Zilker Park train) Evan got in the stroller. Just a few seconds later Evan tells me his band-Aid came off and he needed another one. I didn’t have any with us and that’s when the tantrum started. He was screaming about how much it hurt and that he needed a Band-Aid. I wanted to continue with the walk. I tried to go a little further, but finally I couldn’t take it anymore. He wasn’t calming down no matter how much I tried to reason with him. I couldn’t wait to just get back to the car and get another Band-Aid on him.

When we got to the car, I opened a Band-Aid and when I went to put it on him, he screamed even more. He didn’t want that Band-Aid, he wanted one at home. This one was plain, the ones at home have characters on them. So, the tantrum continued all the way home.

When we got home I opened up a Toy Story Band-Aid. Now, Evan told me he wanted a Cars Band-Aid instead. I had already opened the toy story one and told him he could tell me when he was ready for me to put the Toy Story one on. He said he didn’t like Toy Story anymore (not true). He was throwing such a fit and hitting and kicking things I put him in time out in his room. Eventually he calmed down and let me put the Toy Story Band-Aid on him. This whole tantrum lasted about 1 ½ hours. I was absolutely exhausted.

Evan said he wanted to take a nap. He actually fell asleep in his bed – top bunk because I didn’t feel like arguing with him anymore. I was able to nap for a little bit before Blanca got here and I left for tutoring.

When I came home we got dinner ready. Noah really liked the meat from the stew. Evan wouldn’t try it.

We gave the boys showers and put them to bed. Evan is still up, fighting sleep, sitting on the stairs. He’s happy and not throwing a fit, but he needs to go to bed. This is what tends to happen on days he naps.

Well, tomorrow I have to take Evan to school. I’m really hoping it won’t be as hard as last time.

Evan’s New Room

Today was the day we moved Evan into his new room. We switched Evan’s room and the guest bedroom.

This morning Gabby came over at 10am to watch the boys while we got the rooms ready.

I went over to Bed Bath and Beyond to pick up a few things while Morry got started.

Katheryne and Dmitriy came over at about 11am to help us out. Katheryne is very handy and helped us take furniture apart and hang curtains. Dmitriy was also a big help with moving furniture.

Evan and Noah started to get hungry to so I got lunch ready for them.

Around 1:30 I picked up food for us Santa Rita. We sent Gabby home with I got back and then we all ate our lunch. Dmitriy and Katheryne went home after that.

Noah napped and Morry and I did more work around the house. There was still more moving to do, but we had to hold off on some things so that we wouldn’t wake Noah up.

For dinner we had pasta.

Noah is in bed.

Evan's being a stinker. He wasn't listening to me tonight. He's fighting sleep right now.

Here's a pic from last night with Jonah and Erika

Gym and a Date

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Last night, both boys got up saying their tummy hurt. Neither seems to be serious, luckily. Apparently the virus that caused Evan's croup is associated a bit with a small intestinal virus and Noah may have that. Evan seems to be fine.

Evan got up around 7:30 this morning. As usual, I went down and got breakfast for him and then he watched tv in the gameroom.

We hadn't yet signed up at Lifetime Fitness and we got invited to an open house there. So we could use the gym for free and they'd buy as lunch as part of it. This particular gym has a cafe in it. We went over there and put the boys in the daycare. We didn't realize this but the daycare has an outside area so the boys ran to go out there. I think they had a good time. Rachel and I worked out for about an hour, including going into the basketball area and just shooting hoops. We got the boys and went and ate at the cafeteria. They both ate their chips and some of the fruit but they didn't eat their peanut butter and jelly sandwich. After lunch, we went into the pool area for free swim. They have a big water slide and things that spray. And a lot of the pool is shallow enough for both boys to walk around. We also had them tested for which swimming class they should go in. Evan went on the water slide but the end was tough because it put him into deeper water. A lifeguard was there to catch him, but I think going underwater scared him a bit. He wasn't crying, but he didn't seem to keen to do it again.

After the gym we came home and Noah took a nap. Evan played upstairs. I did some work. Rachel did some blog stuff and then took a nap.

Erika and Jonah came over tonight so we could go on a date. The boys were eating when they got here but finished before we left. Neither Evan nor Noah seemed upset when we left so that was good.

We weren't sure what we were going to do but ended up at the Melting Pot. It was nice and it was nice to have some quiet time.

When we got home, both boys were in bed and sleeping (although I guess Noah woke up when he heard us). They said that Evan didn't give them a hard time which is good. Noah threw a mini-fit but overall he went to bed easily. I'm glad that it was so easy for them.

Until next time...
