Team Full of Evans

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We only had one baseball game this morning - at 11:30.  So no one needed to get up early.  I got up around 9.  Noah was already downstairs but Evan was still sleeping.  I was surprised.  In fact, Evan didn't get up until 9:45.  Around 9:25, I checked on him to make sure he was ok.

Noah stayed home while I took Evan to warm ups before the game.  Evan continued hitting the ball well.

During warm ups, Evan's coach came up to me.  First he thanked me for helping out with the team and getting the kids organized.  Then he told me how much he enjoys having Evan on his team.  He said that if we "had a team full of Evans, we would never lose."  I love hearing that.  At one point during warm ups, I looked over at Evan and he had the biggest smile.  He was just having fun practicing and playing with his buddies on the team.

Evan's hitting translated into the game.  In the first inning he tripled.  Well, I guess technically he doubled and advanced on the throw home.  He likes to call it a triple.  He has been pulling the ball and this was no exception.  In fact, he keeps finding the no-man's land between shortstop and third base and in front of the left fielder.  In the third, he hit a laser, his hardest hit of the game, right at the shortstop.  I mean the kid didn't even move at all.  It just went right to his chest and he caught it.  He could not have hit it more squarely.  He didn't seem upset in the slightest.  In the third he also played third.  He made two nice fielding plays.  One was he caught a short hop on a hard hit ball.  In the fifth, he singled.  He was erased on a ground ball to short but he slid hard into the bag again.  His team won the game so he was happy.

After the game, we went to Smoothie King.  Evan finished his smoothie before we got home.  The boys love getting smoothies.

When we got home, I got lunch ready for the boys.  Later, Noah and Rachel went to a birthday party for one of Noah's friends.

Evan and I stayed home.  I did some work while he watched The Sandlot.

When Rachel and Noah got home, we jumped back in the car and went to friends of ours that are moving to New York City.  They were people that really helped us out when Rachel got sick.  They drove Evan to pre-school and brought him home every day.

From there we went to Trudy's for dinner.  As we came in, we bumped into Evan's friend Miles and his family.  Evan was so excited.  At one point Miles' mom took Miles out to the patio so Evan joined along.

We stopped at HEB on the way home and picked up some food for the week.

The boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...
