Dentist

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

We walked to school today.  The boys did well walking.

The boys had dentist appointments today.  It had been a year since they went last.  Both boys had appointments at the same time.  Rachel picked them up from school at 10:20 and took them.  Noah's appointment went really well.  He got a good bill of health.  However, for Evan, the news was not as good.  He has two more cavities and the one last year the filling had become damaged.  So he had to stay longer today while they fixed that filling.  He didn't need any anesthesia or anything.  He'll go back in the summer to have the other teeth fixed.  We're at a loss for why he keeps getting them.  He's just going to have to floss consistently.

Evan did not go back to school.  He said he wasn't feeling well after the ordeal.  Noah wanted to go back to school and Rachel dropped him off.

I ran out to Academy looking for baseball pants for a boy on the Marauders and got some things for myself.  Then I stopped at Wholy Bagels and got lunch for Rachel and me and brought it home.

Evan watched a movie and Rachel walked to pick Noah up later.

Noah had a baseball game tonight.  They won again.  This time, the team was finally able to get three outs in one inning.  We've won every game based on the number of outs recorded tie breaker.  But today, we actually held them to four runs in one inning and won the game.

Evan had baseball practice at the same time.  After the game, Noah's team was going to the Austin Pizza Garden to hang out.  Rachel and Noah went over there while I walked over to Evan's practice and helped out at the end.  Then Evan and I drove over to the restaurant.  We had a really nice time and got to spend time with a family that I hadn't gotten to talk to before.  It was very nice.  We enjoyed it.

We are home now and the boys are getting ready for bed.

Until next time...

Practice

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning the boys set their alarms again.  Noah was a bit cranky but all-in-all it was a fairly easy morning.  We drove to school as it was only 48 degrees.

In the afternoon, we walked to get the boys.  By that time it got warm.  It appears the ice cream truck is no more.  Some fuddy duddy (I have other choice terms for the person) decided to complain that the ice cream truck did not have the proper permits to be stopped where they were and selling food and called the city.  Seriously, do people not have anything better to do with their time than ruin some stuff for kids?  So we just brought the normal popsicles today.

Noah had practice today.  We worked on some drills.  Then I ran two exercises where the winner got a prize.  They had to field the ball and throw and hit a bucket.  They got one point for fielding the ball, one point for hitting the bucket if the ball hit the ground first and 3 points for hitting the bucket in the air.  Then we had the boys race to first base.  I want to teach them that they will run faster running through the bag.  This is one of the biggest issues I see when kids move up from tee ball to coach pitch.  They still just want to run and stop on first base.  It's amazing how many times a kid will be out because they slowed down too soon.  It makes a huge difference.  Especially since at this point the bases are fairly close together so it doesn't give the fielder as much time to make the out.  But if the kid slows down, they are giving the advantage back to the fielder.

We stopped at Wendy's on the way home.

The boys are in bed and asleep now.

Until next time...

Active Wednesday

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

The boys decided to set their alarms today to wake up.  They wanted to get up earlier to play on the computer.  I told them I was not getting up any earlier to wake them up so they had to do it themselves.

Then we walked to school.  Noah fell on the trail walking into school and scraped his leg.  Rachel had to go get band aids from the nurse's office.

When we walked home, Rachel went and took a short walk with Lizzy.

I had a meeting at lunch time.  I stopped at Smoothie King on the way home.

I walked to get the boys.  They were good on the way home.

The boys and I had an early dinner because Evan had a game tonight.

Evan's game didn't go to well.  Evan led off the top of the first inning with a single that I saw bounce away from the outfielder, so I sent him.  It turns out that it must not have bounced that far away because the throw came in fast and Evan was out at second.  I apparently didn't learn my lesson because the same thing happened later in the inning.  Evan came up in the third and hit a shot down the left field line that went to the fence.  Evan ended up with his seventh home run of the season.  The rest of the boys just weren't hitting though and Evan's team lost.

We came home the boys are now in bed.

Until next time...

No Baseball = TCBY

This morning we walked to school.

I went to Sams Club and Petco.

Morry also walked to picked up the boys from school. I was out tutoring.

When we got home we made pizza for dinner.

It was nice not having any baseball practice or games today.  We decided to get Sweet Caroline's.  We drove over there, but they were closing up for the night.  It turns out they close at 7pm during the week.  We went to TCBY instead.

Morry and the boys are outside playing baseball. In a few minutes we'll get them ready for bed.

Saturday + Sunday = More Baseball

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

Yesterday morning, Evan had a baseball game.  His team lost but he played well.  He hit the ball to all three fields and hustled well.  The other team kept moving their players back when he came up to bat.

After the game, Evan and Darius had a catch for a while and Daniel and I watched the next game.  Noah was playing with some sticks he found.

We took it easy all afternoon.  The boys watched a movie.

In the late afternoon, we went to the Round Rock Express game.  It was Oak Hill night and the kids got to have a "parade" around the field in front of the fans.  Evan decided to run around the whole thing and in fact was racing his teammates (and winning).  You can see a picture below.  The Rockies and Nationals sat with each other which was nice.  Noah had fun with his friends and Evan had fun with his friends.  The kids were up on the Jumbotron a couple times.  The team put up a Jumbotron message that if you tweeted a picture at a certain hashtag they might show it later in the game.  Rachel took a picture of Evan with his team and that was the one they chose to show on the Jumbotron.

This morning we slept in.  Then Noah had baseball practice at 1pm.  I did a game with the kids towards the end.  The winner would get a Gatorade at the next practice.  The kid who won was so excited, he ran and jumped into my arms and wouldn't let go.  It was very cute.

Evan had a game in the late afternoon.  He had his worst day hitting this season.  Still he had a double (he was out trying to stretch it into a triple) and he lined a ball super hard at the third baseman who was able to (barely) knock it down for a single.  He also had a sac fly.

We came home had dinner, gave the boys showers and they are in bed and sleeping now.

Until next time...
