Aunt Diane and Susie

Hello everyone, this is Morry.

This morning, Evan got up at 5 something. His comforter was on the floor and he wanted me to fix it. Then Noah lost his pacifiers but Rachel got up with him. The good thing was that Evan ended up sleeping until 9am. This is the first weekend in a while that he was able to do that.

We were going to start a free trial at a gym here but the boys were both coughing. I don't know if they have colds (again) or whether it's allergies. The cedar is very high in Austin right now and the allergies are terrible. Just in case, though, we decided not to go to the gym. We didn't want the boys making all the other kids sick in the child care. So we decided to walk around a shopping center near us.

After we finished the walk, we got smoothies at the Smoothie King. The boys enjoyed their smoothies.

When we got home, we made lunch. Evan ate very well, although it took him forever. I think he was eating for nearly an hour. We put the boys down for a nap without incident.

Tonight, Aunt Diane offered to babysit. I think she had a lot of fun taking care of the boys back in November. This time she brought Susie along with her. They got here at 5:30 and we woke up the boys. Noah loved the extra attention and didn't get cranky like he normally does after a nap. They brought Wendy's for the boys. Noah ate his very quickly.

We went out to a place called Gumbo's. It's a fancy Cajun place here in Austin. It was very good and we enjoyed ourselves. Rachel got a shrimp thing and I got a blackened steak. After that we had dessert at a coffee shop called Halcyon.

Meanwhile, Evan and Noah had a very good time with Aunt Diane and Susie. They raved about how well-behaved the boys were. Aunt Diane brought all kinds of activities, play dough, pictures she had printed out to color - including Toy Story pictures. They watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs too. And they gave the boys baths. Aunt Diane was very impressed with Noah's vocabulary. He really speaks very well.

We didn't stay out late. We got an early start and both of us are tired.

When we got home, Evan was still up, of course. I think he was glad he got to see us before he fell asleep. He's in bed now. Noah seems to be quiet.

Until next time...

Playgroup at our House

This morning Evan and Noah slept until about 8:45am.

We had playgroup at our house this morning. I made blueberry muffins and put out some other snacks. We just had 3 other kids over here. It worked out really well. Bodar, Marissa, and Espen came as well as Yenis and Kevin. All of the kids played really well together. I enjoyed having the playgroup over here again.

Since Evan and Noah ate a lot during playgroup we didn’t have lunch. They went down for naps around 1:30 and slept really well until around 5pm when Morry got home.

For dinner we ate at Hyde Park Grill. The food was good, but the service wasn’t so great. Evan and Noah were very well behaved. Noah ate a ton of food. We ordered a pizza for Evan, but he didn’t touch it. He did eat all of the fruit we got for him though.

We just put the boys to bed. Let’s hope they sleep well tonight.

Lots to Do

This morning Evan slept until 8 something and I had to wake Noah up a little before 9am. First, we dropped Evan off and school and then I took Noah to Alena’s house. I came home and started the laundry and cleaned up a little. Yenis came over at 10:45am and then we went to lunch at Freddie’s Place. After lunch we stopped by Lifetime Fitness, a fancy gym. Her husband had lost his keys there and she wanted to see if they had found them. She gave me a tour of the gym. It was really nice. The kids/babysitting area looked really fun. They had an indoor playscape like at Chick-Fil-A and a small gym for the kids to play, as well as computers and movies. We would love to join there, but it’s pretty pricy. We’ll see. If I can maybe get a couple more students for tutoring we might consider.

Then, Yenis dropped me off at home so I could get my car and then we picked up the kids. I picked up Evan first and then Noah. They both were in good moods and seemed to have a good day.

When we got home I put the boys down for naps and the folded a ton of laundry. We still hadn’t folded the laundry from last week. I also cleaned the house some more to get ready for playgroup tomorrow. We are hosting playgroup at our house tomorrow at 10am.

For dinner we made potatoes. Morry had a hamburger and I had my leftover Chuy’s. After dinner I got some stuff ready for playgroup and cleaned up a little more.

We just gave Evan and Noah baths and put them to bed. I hear Noah talking now.

The Exterminator

Back in December there was one day we got in the car and thought someone had broken into it. Things were moved and there was a whole in the leather seat. We thought maybe someone was looking for keys and tried to take the carseat and scratched the leather. It was pretty upsetting. Then a few days later we noticed things again. The leather was ripped more and part of Evan’s car seat was coming apart. That made us suspect an animal was getting in our car. We have sense noticed more things. Yesterday, I saw a whole in the diaper bag and fruit snacks were spilled all over the place. The animal must have chewed threw the diaper bag, took out the package, and somehow opened it and spilled everything out. We can’t figure out how an animal would be getting in our car. Morry called an exterminator and he came out today. He put down some sticky traps in the garage and some bait in the attic. The exterminator said in his 15 years of doing this he’s never seen an animal get into a car like this. Here are some pictures of the damage. We noticed some dirt along the dash board between two of the vents. Do you think there’s any way an animal could get through one of those vents? The exterminator said no way, but I think maybe a mouse or something could fit through there.

My car needed an oil change. So Morry met us at Jiffy Lube and we all ate at McDonalds while they worked on my car. Here’s a video of the boys at lunch.

After lunch we went to HEB to get some groceries. Evan and Noah were very good.

When we got home I put the boys down for naps.

Blanca came at 4:00 and I went out to tutor two students. I got back around 7:15 and we had some leftovers for dinner.

Evan and Noah are in bed now.

Some time Alone

This morning I had to wake Noah up a little before 9am to get Evan to school. First, I dropped Evan off and then I took Noah to Alena’s house for drop off child care. I was a little worried about how Noah would do without Evan, but he did great. As soon as we got there he started playing with the toys and didn’t seem bothered when I left. Alena said Noah asked for me a few times, but overall did really well. So, I had the morning to myself. I didn’t do much. My stomach was bothering me so I wasn’t able to fully enjoy it. I picked Evan up from school first and then we went to Alena’s to get Noah.

When we got home Evan and Noah had a snack and then I put them down for naps. The both slept well.

For dinner we made pasta.

At 6:45 I left to tutor. Morry took care of the boys and put them to bed. When I got home around 8:45 I heard Noah calling for Daddy.

Sports Class

This morning was tough. Evan did not want to get dressed. I let him watch a tv show in my room while I got dressed and then he still refused to get dressed. It was 11am by this point and I decided to just take him in his room and get him dressed whether he liked it or not. He threw a major tantrum. I tried holding him down and getting him dressed but it was just too hard for me. My chest and my port were hurting from holding him down and from his kicking. I finally told him he could not come out of his room until he got dressed. More tantrums, and then finally he just lied in bed for a little while. I got Noah dressed and breakfast and then checked on Evan. He still wasn’t ready to get dressed. A little while later I made lunch for all of us and then went back to Evan’s room. He was finally in a good mood and I was able to get him dressed. After that, the rest of the day he was good. I don’t know what was going on. I was worried at first that he was not feeling well or was sick.

We ate lunch and then I put the boys down for naps.

Blanca came at 4:00pm and I went to tutor one student.

At 6:00pm, I met Morry at the boys at the Little Gym for Evan’s first sports class. He did very well and followed directions. Evan wanted to go back again tomorrow. The next class isn’t until next week.

I took Noah home and got dinner ready for the boys. Morry picked up Chuy’s on the way home for us. Noah ate really well at dinner. He had 6 chicken nuggets!

Evan and Noah are in bed now, but they both are still awake.

Here’s a video from the other day when I went in Noah’s room in the morning. Also, here are a few pictures from the class today.
