Morry’s turn

Well, Morry got the stomach bug now too. He started feeling bad last night and didn’t go to work today. We didn’t get much sleep last night. Evan was up coughing. Morry put the humidifier in his room and after that Evan slept better. Lizzy woke us up barking at one point.

After I dropped Evan off at school Noah and I went to Target. I have needed to go for a few days and today I finally felt ready to try shopping. I got what I needed and it wasn’t too bad. I gave Noah a squeaky ball to play with to keep him busy while I shopped.

I’m still not feeling great. I did just a little cleaning. I started the laundry, though the clothes aren’t folded and I mopped the kitchen floor. It was filthy. But, that’s all I could manage to do today.

When I picked Evan up at school Wendy told me Evan bumped heads with another kid today. She said both he and the other kid were just playing and somehow bumped into each other. Evan cried and they took him inside for a little bit, but he seemed fine when I picked him up. I could barely tell where Evan hit his head. I don’t think it hurt him too bad, because he didn’t even tell me when I first walked in. Normally, if something big, or unusual happens, he tells me first thing.

When we got home Morry was laying on the couch watching a DVD with an old Steelers Super Bowl Game. Evan watched a little, but then we went upstairs for naps. Morry even went upstairs for a nap.

I heard Evan crying through the monitor so I went to his room. He was trying to get his Geo Trax out of the closet and was getting frustrated that he couldn’t get the box out. I took it out for him. He ended up not napping and just played with Geo Trax in his room for a while.

Blanca came at 4:00, so I could tutor. I got home around 7:00 and ate leftover Chinese food from last night.

Evan and Noah were cranky tonight so we put them to bed somewhat early. I still hear some movement in both of their rooms though.

Still recovering

Evan got up early this morning. He was up when Morry was leaving for work.

I still was not feeling good today, so we just stayed in the house all day. I even canceled my tutoring again.

I took Evan and Noah in the backyard for a little bit so we could get some fresh air. Noah enjoyed crawling in the grass. Evan played on the playscape for a while. I put Noah on the slide a few times and he seemed to like it. Noah would clap when he got to the bottom.

After lunch Evan and Noah took naps. Evan slept for over 3 hours.

We just had dinner. We ordered Chinese food. I was able to eat a little.

Evan is playing baseball with Morry right now (inside the house). In a few minutes we’ll take Evan and Noah upstairs and get them ready for bed.

Somewhat better

I’m doing a little better today.

Evan seemed fine this morning and said he wanted to go to school.

While Evan was at school I just hung out at home with Noah. Luckily, Noah took a morning nap, so I was able to lie down for a little bit too.

When I picked Evan up he seemed like he didn’t feel well. Natasha said he was fine at school and just started acting like that. She said he didn’t eat much at lunch, but besides that he seemed fine. The kids did an obstacle course outside today and Evan had a good time. Evan needed a diaper change as we were leaving, so I changed him in the car.

When we got home, I had to change Evan’s diaper again. I won’t go into the messy details, but I’ll just say it wasn’t a fun diaper change.

Evan and Noah both took naps and woke up around the time Morry got home.

I canceled my tutoring today. I was supposed to tutor 3 students, but I didn’t want to push it or risk getting anyone sick.

Evan has been acting a lot better this afternoon and evening. He has been eating and drinking more than the last couple of days.

After dinner Noah started throwing bits of food off his tray which was making Lizzy very happy. Noah was cracking up each time he threw a piece of food. It was hard not to be mad at him. At least Lizzy was cleaning up his mess.

Evan and Noah are watching the movie Cars right now. We’ll take them upstairs in a little for baths and bed.

More sickness

Hello everyone, this is Morry. Rachel is not feeling well so I'm writing the blog tonight.

It seems that Rachel got whatever bug it was that Evan has. Evan has been complaining that his tummy hurts on and off the whole weekend. Last night Rachel said she was feeling nauseous. This morning it really hit her. It seems that is probably what Evan has been meaning when he said his tummy hurts. Rachel got up this morning, early, around 7:15 when the boys got up. She got Noah first and then went into Evan's room. She felt so badly that she closed the gate to Evan's room, but the boys on the floor and laid down in Evan's bed until the nausea subsided.

Needless to say, Rachel and the boys did not do much of anything today. Rachel has gotten a work-from-home position with a company called Cha-Cha. It's a sales position but basically Rachel can work as much or as little as she wants a month. She had to sit on a webinar from noon until 1pm today. The boys were very well behaved while she was on the phone.

I got home around 5:30 or 5:45. Rachel was laying in bed. I got the boys up and we came downstairs. Evan really has not gotten his appetite back. I fed Noah and ordered food from the Circle C Catering. They deliver and I just ordered a cheeseburger. Evan watched Toy Story 2 while Noah and I ate.

Noah is really trying to talk a bunch now. He can't say a whole lot, but he's really trying. He definitely says "cheese". He also has started to say "Hi" and wave his hand. Rachel came downstairs and sat on the big chair and Noah crawled over and wanted to get up. Rachel said "up?" to Noah and he tried to repeat it but it was more like he was blowing up towards his face with his lower lip out. It was funny. But he was definitely was trying to repeat what she said. Oh and yesterday, when signing the gesture for "more" he actually said "mo". For those of you who may remember, Evan used to say "mo-mo" for more for a long time.

Both boys are in bed now. Rachel should be in bed. I think she's laying on the couch. I hope that Noah and I can avoid this bug and I hope that Rachel and Evan feel better very quickly.

Until next time...

Inside day

This morning Morry had to work from 9-12:00. Evan got up early and Morry took care of him until he had to leave.

I just stayed in the house with the boys while Morry was at work. Evan is feeling a lot better today. He didn’t have a fever during the day, but still didn’t eat much. He mostly just had drinks and a smoothie today.

I helped Evan put on a temporary tattoo. He picked out a Buzz Lightyear one and showed me where on his arm he wanted me to put it. We walked outside to get the paper. Evan likes going to pick up the newspaper every Sunday because he knows the Garfield comic strip is in there. We laid out the paper on the table and Evan asked me to read Garfield to him.

Noah got cranky around 11:00 so I put him down for a nap and he slept until Morry got home. We woke him up to have lunch.

Evan and Noah would not nap today. At least I got to nap though. Morry watched the boys so I could get some sleep.

We had pasta and soup for dinner.

We gave the boys a bath and put them down to bed early tonight. It sounds quiet in Evan’s room. He asked for the banana song (Day-o), so I hear Raffi playing. Noah’s still making some noise.

Bill Cosby

Hello everyone, this is Morry. Rachel asked me to write the blog. It's really late right now. We just got back from seeing Bill Cosby live. But I'll get to that in a minute.

Last night, Evan had a fever when we put him to bed. We decided not to close to gate to his room. That way we could check on him without having to open the gate and possibly wake him up. So this morning, at about 7:15 or 7:30, I heard Evan breathing, but it didn't sound like it was thru the monitor. I guess Evan opened his door, saw that his gate was open, walked into our room, saw we were still sleeping and laid down on the floor next to our bed. Rachel got up with Evan and took him downstairs and let me sleep.

I got up around 10am and both boys were up and playing. Evan still had a fever but he was acting normal. When I got downstairs, Rachel was squeezing oranges for orange juice and had made blueberry muffins. I think I need to sleep in every weekend if I wake up to that. Evan helped Rachel make the muffins. Unfortunately, I think he was still not feeling well and didn't really eat them. Noah did, however and yelled at Rachel when she didn't provide strawberries and blueberry muffin promptly enough.

After muffins, Rachel tutored while I took care of the boys. We watched Garfield and then went upstairs to play in the game room.

When Rachel got home, we put the boys to bed. She showered and got ready for our night and then took a nap. I watched the 2008 Steelers DVD that went thru each game and showed in detail the playoffs and the Super Bowl. It was amazing. I was pumped after watching it.

Aunt Susan came over tonight to take care of the boys while we went to dinner and to see Bill Cosby live. Rachel had gotten me tickets to see him for Valentine's Day. They were front row tickets. For dinner we went to a Middle Eastern restaurant called Phara's. It was pretty good.

We then went to see Bill Cosby who was playing at the Bass Concert Hall on the UT campus. He was really funny. It just felt like we were listening to a guy tell us his stories. I spent the entire time just being amazed that I was sitting 20 feet or less from Bill Cosby. I have watched Bill Cosby Himself countless times. In fact, I can recite most of it. I grew up watching the Cosby Show. And tonight, he was just sitting there, right in front of me. The whole experience was really neat. Rachel seemed to enjoy herself as well.

Aunt Susan said the boys did really well. She said she thinks Noah is getting sick now. I'm not surprised.

Until next time...
